Hi everyone, haven't been on for a while, but have been checking up on how everyone's been doing. Glad to hear scans and checks are all ok. Well, had my 20 week scan two weeks ago - evrything looking well with LO. Didn't want to know the sex, but the sonographer let slip something about 'her foot' (which dh also picked up on) I'm not at all bothered if it is a girl or a boy - we already have a dd so would be a good play mate, but on flip side evryone always assumes you want one of each.
Well, I feel that in the last week or two I have got massive. Everyone at work tells me I'm looking bigger on a daily basis.
Am really worried cos dd was 9lb4oz, and have already been told by midwife to expect a large baby - ouch!- am trying hard to remember to do pelvic floor exercises and to not over-eat. So, needless to say I am definitely in maternity clothes and am now considering updating due to warmer weather recently.
How often are you seeing midwife? My next one will be 28 weeks (only saw one - at 15 weeks) then it will be at 34 weeks and then every 2 weeks after that. It just seems really spread out from last time!
BTW - I really like the names Max and Zack. DH doesn't though and we can't agree on any boys names really. Girls names we like Grace, Ruby (both a bit too popular at the moment though) and Millie though not fully sure about Millie. Any more ideas???

pookey · 14/03/2007 21:20

Hi Kieralou snap with the weights of our ds! How are you going with the healthy eating? Because I lost weight initially I haven't been paying attention to my diet but i feel really low and think I need to be more careful - I am going to try harder not to eat any chocolate because i keep having dizzy spells and obv high blood pressure or blood sugar problems are likely to be causing that kind of thing. I have 4 months left and think I should stop moaning and take action! I have rang the community midwives to book an app for 25 weeks as homebirth tentaively planned but otherwise i think my schedule would have been the same as yours. I think I need a chat with midwife anyway so glad to bring appointment forward.

Myfairone your scan story was really lovely I am so happy for you

Hi stigaloid welcome, is this your first baby?

Chooster · 15/03/2007 08:46

Am so pleased Myfairone that its all worked out well... It sounds like a lovely experience and well worth the money. Thanks for letting us know.

Twoplusone - It would be good to get a 4 bed house... Would you rather not move to married quarters?

Welcome stigaloid!!

Kieralou - Good to hear from you. Its so difficult with names isn't it. For girls I liked Rosie, Charlotte, Ruby (again was put off because its quite popular), Lilly.

Re: the sonographer, when I went for my 20wk scan with DS, the sonographer started off by saying that she refers to all babies she is scanning as boys so she is not tempted to let anything slip. Maybe the person doing your scan just does the same thing with girls. Either way though it sounds like you'll be happy.

Hope everyone else is doing OK!!

Cyee · 15/03/2007 09:55

Morning all,

Welcome stigaloid!

Myfairone - the scan sounds amazing - great news.

Have a good day!

Firststar - Good luck for tomorrow. I am sure that all will go well, but I do understand how stressful it can be!

Twoplusone - The bigger house sounds great. Would it bother you to move 20 mins away. Its a huge distance and a bigger house would be even better for your growing family.

Welcome to Stigaloid. Is this your first?

Glad to hear everyone else sounds okay and all growing nicely! As for healthy eating, I was so sick to start off with Im just happy that I can get something into my stomach. I am now at peace with myself that I cannot eat vegetables (they make me sick at every attempt!)

Hope you are all having a great day!
big hugs

Hello again everyone and thank you for the welcome!

This is indeed my first and both DH and I are over the moon at becoming parents. We are having a healthy little boy, whom we are calling Thomas (Tom in general, Thomas for when he is naughty!) and are hoping to move in the next month to a new home in Surbiton. (because we didn't think that having a baby was stressful enough in itself we decided to throw in a house purchase - arrrggghh!)

This is a honeymoon baby for us - got married at the end of September, went on Honeymoon beginning of October and came back with a little surprise growing strong and healthy inside!

Looking forward to getting to know you all and share in the trials and tribulations of pregnancy and motherhood.

Myfairone · 15/03/2007 16:05

Firststar - The veggies are a huge no-no for me and have been since the start of my pregnancy. I still keep trying but just cant do it! Oh well!

Stigaloid - What a romantic story! Congratulations to you and your DH. So really you did the three most stressful things in one year! Marriage, baby and house! Well done!

Im stuffing my face with grapes right now...seem to have a craving for red ones!

big hugs to all.

catstar · 15/03/2007 17:36

Welcome Stigaloid! I lived in Surbiton up to last summer and moved just down the road into Chessington - would still love to be in Surbiton though ! Will you be having your little boy in Kingston hospital? I will be there around 9th July, I hope!!

Firststar - good luck with your scan tomorrow!!

I've been feeling really tearful since my 21 week scan - does anyone else feel like this? I found the whole thing very moving and since then have been worrying about whether I'm going to be a good mum - will my daughter grow up to be a chav (very possible in Chessington!!), what if she's like one of the girls I saw on the train the other day who told me to "f" off when I asked her to turn her phone down - that sort of thing. I suppose that's one of the great unknowns and you can only do your best. Still, I got a speeding ticket the other day so I'm hardly a model citizen !!

Have a good evening.

twoplusone · 15/03/2007 18:47

Stigaloid- congrats on your wedding.... and we thought we were quick with having a baby after ours.. we got married in August found out I was pg in the october.. (that was with ds now 2yrs 9 months)

Firstar good luck with the scan tommorrow..

As for us moving dh and I will sit and talk about it... I worded my last post wrong.. it means moving to another married quarter area.. (as we do live on one..) the new one would mean living off camp at the moment we live on camp.. that has its disadvantages and advantages..

I have a confession to make.. I have not been able to stop smoking oin my own I have cut down... I am going to see the doctor tommorrow for some help!!.. I do feel really guilty.. but with everything that was going on in the beginning..etc.. Now live has finally got back to relativly normal I am going to try again..

Took ds to see the doctor today as he keeps covering his ears and when we go out insists in wearing a top with a hood and has to have the hood up.. dr said that his ear drums have sucked in!!!!! apparantley this is what they do when ears start to hurt when flying... poor little mite.. but he cant unblock them.. he has given us sudafed to see if this helps him.. have to give him 10days to see how he goes... I feel so sorry for him... but this couls also attribute to the other problems we are having with him re speach and behaviour.. there is light at the end of the tunnel..

Had dd parent teachers with her flute teacher who informed us that she is struggling.. I was not pleased with dd as she had not told me she was having troubles.. we have had a talk and she kow realises she has to tell me things so that we can help her..

we have her class parent teachers on the 28th.. but I know that one will be fine...

hope everyone else is ok..
Take care
xx

Hi, Try not to beat yourself up twoplusone. Smoking can be tricky to give up especially if you are stressed - and you did have a lot on your plate when DH was away. The positive point is that are aware its not ideal and are getting some help with it. Good luck!!!

Your poor DS as well!!! At least he is getting his ears seen to now and like you say it could be the cause of his speech etc. Fingers crossed it clears up soon.

Hi to everyone else - Lovely story Stigaloid! Kingston used to be my old stomping ground for a while - Aaaah, happy memories

pookey · 15/03/2007 22:30

Catstar lol "will my daughter grow up to be a chav"! I dragged DP to chesington woa a few years ago I lurve the vampire ride how sad is that and i'm a grown woman! I'm in w london - not too far from some of you, I used to love going to kingston for shopping before I had ds.

Sounds like things are pretty complicated at the moment 2plus I hope your decision with house works out. We all have our vices and you are being honest, cutting back and seeking help. What about hypnotism doesnt that sometimes help people to quit?

lynnec · 15/03/2007 23:07

Hi ladies, not been around all week as i was ill with a very bad cold, come the monday i started to feel a bit better but was still nackered so took a wee afternoon nap, whilst asleep ds school called to say he'd had an accident in gym and would have to go to hospital (typical...the only day i decided to go for a nap)but they called my mum and she collected him, i then had to meet my mum at the hospital,in the end they couldnt tell if he'd fractured his elbow or not so its back on friday for more xrays....on the tuesday my little cat wasnt able to walk, had to take him to vet and they couldnt tell if hed fractured his leg so had to go back today for xrays, but luckily the antibiotics worked and he didnt need the xrays, think that will be the ssame for ds,as the painkillers seem to be working so far!!
So its been very hectic for me, still need to catch up with everyone as you have all been very busy on here.I hope everyones well.
Cant remember who's carrieing the big babies, but im sure im one of them, everyone keeps asking if im having twins

Thanks pookey and chooster.. pookey I tried hypnotism 6years ago.. this sent me into deep depression..(suicidal thoughts depression!!) it opened up a lot of doors subconciously that I have/had locked when I was a little girl.. ( I am off the med now and fighting all the time to stay of them too!!)
Been to the doc and I have been given the inhalers rather than patches.. as I said I dont ewant a constant dose going through my body just something as and when I need it..
Just hope it works....

Lynnc- You have had a busy week.. hope the xray is ok for your little boy.. and glad your cat is onthe mend.

Abgirl thank you again for the stats...

Re house move.. DH doesnt want to move to the other estate.. as would mean we would have to buy second car or him a new bike which we cant afford either!!.. would be paying 100% more rent.. which we could do but would rather spend money on enjoying ourselves.. DD and DS would have to get bus to school nursery.. ( I would drive everyday not having ds going on a bus at 3 bless..)
So we are making roomm inour threebed... thinking about changing one of the rooms in the cellar into a playroom.. and putting the stuff from there tot he loft..

Feel guilty but said to dh sending him downstairs to play is no different to sending hm upstairs to play is it!!!.

Goodluck with scan Firstar..
xx
