Ok. Feeling a bit jealous.

I have NO BUMP. I'm still in my ordinary clothes. I tried Mat Clothes but got fed up pulling them up all the time. I'm 20 weeks. Still don't look pregnant.

Some of you are started the "heavily pregnant" club. I thik I'll start the "Honestly I am pregnant" club.

Hi - Thanks for the feedback on the names. I like Zack but my DH wants Kyan . I'm hoping its just a passing fancy on his part.

Justaboutmanagin - your comment about your DH exchanging the house for a playstation had me laughing!! Like you, I like to be at the forefront of any house buying decisions. I also love looking around houses We moved from London to Edinburgh when I was 8 months pregnant with DS. I think the worry about how to move me up there was more hassle than the furniture!!! The upside was I didn't have to do any of it, the downside was I felt a bit useless. Also DH was still decorating when we had a new baby at home which wasn't ideal. Good luck with wahtever you decide!!!

Chooster · 13/03/2007 13:30

How was the scan myfairone - i presume from your early morning post that it was about midday-ish? Let us know!

newby29 · 13/03/2007 13:34

hello all
I havent posted for ages, but have been reding everyone and keeping up. I have finally had my scan - at 22 weeks , which is why then do it round my way, and have found out all is well. I am so relived, had worked myself up into quite a state about it! Laos found out we have having a girl! I would be over the moon either way, but finding out how just been brilliant and I am, well, over the moon!
Good luck to everyone else with scans.

Cyee · 13/03/2007 18:46

Congrats on your baby girl newby! Glad the scan went well.

I am in the process of looking at NHS and NCT classes - does anyone else's area only seem to offer these at like 1.30pm mid week??? I can't believe they think that's practical, esp for first timers who are generally still working... sheeesh...

Jennster · 13/03/2007 21:20

I went to evening NCT classes CYEE because all the NHS ones were during the day, and the evening ones were still too early. I worked Saturdays and was NOT going to give up Sunday for the weekend courses. Even the NCT ones that started at 7.30 were cutting it a bit fine to get to. We had to swallow dinner in 5 mins before we had to leave. They were very good though.

justbeme · 13/03/2007 22:27

Good evening all! Taken ages to catch up!!
When do NHS classes normally start (ie at what stage of pregnancy?) - dont forget even if your working your company have to allow you time off to go there.
Any suggestions on the best sling? I read on here that premaxx ( I think) was a bad buy, but if you have a CS can you carry your baby ok to start with?
God I need to go to bed soon!!

Hi all - thanks for the info on classes. Jusbeme, they usually start from about 28 weeks I think. It's still amazing to me that it's standard to hold them during the day. It's a bit of a grey area for employers, as the law covers antenatal care, as opposed to antenatal education (I work in HR). Thankfully a lot of employers are pretty relaxed about this - though partners still would lose out. Aaaanyway - I'm on a waiting list for the NCT classes in my area. Apparently they were booked up by November because people booked them when immediately pregnant - how come I wasn't that organised?!

thanks Kyte and Cyee!! I think I'll have to make an appointment with my community midwife - I havent even seen her yet!! (nearly 25 wks!)

Cyee · 14/03/2007 12:15

Very impressive Kyte!!!!

pookey · 14/03/2007 13:03

Hi all, i looked into NCT classes first time round but didnt go ahead with it because they were about £250 which seems a lot of money to me. We dont have any nhs classes at my hospital just a 1 day class which was a waste of time and didnt really cover brething or anything like you see on the TV so a bit disappointing!

DP has an xl wilkinet - its a bit of a faff when getting it on and off outside the house becuase it is tied on with long cords I always had to help him get it on but maybe if we had used it more we would have got the hang of it. It is very soft though and seems popular with mumsnetters.

Cakehead · 14/03/2007 13:50

I did NCT and NHS classes with DD. NCT was in the evening and was couples-based. Quite a laugh, the mums and dads still have nights out (separately, of course), but it was all very birth-focussed. In hindsight, a lot of us felt that we could have done with more advice about what to do when the babies arrived. NHS was in the day and started six weeks before we were due. Some mums didn't quite make it to the end of the course, as events overtook them! But it was more practical - a few weeks on the birth and pain relief, then how to hold/bath/feed the baby etc. Think they were more useful.

Chooster · 14/03/2007 14:02

Any news from myfairone - I guess she is catching up with sleep!

I also did NCT classes with my DS (they weren't that expensive from memory) and we all still meet up - usually about every 6 weeks. I found them really useful but I didn't do the NHS ones so they may be equally as good. I'm going to see if there is a refresher course (NHS) as was encouraged to do these by my mid-wife but I'll only go if the times suit.

I keep checking for news from myfairone...

Yes - let's hope all is okay.

Myfairone · 14/03/2007 15:51

Hi All,

Thank you all so much for worrying about me! The scan went just fine! I cannot tell you what a state I got myself into! All sorts of things were going through my mind and in the end I had gotten myself into such an irrational state that my DH had to talk some sense into me!

As he focussed in on the baby it was kneeling down with its hands in the air. He zoomed in on a hand and the baby gave us a thumbs up! I was in tears! It was like it was telling me it was okay!

Anyway, I was told that the baby is 'bigger than average'! (Oh my!) My DH is a big guy and now I am starting to think I may have a heavy one!

The sonographer was wonderful....we looked at everything (Except 'the baby bits'). We decided to look away and not find out. The sonographer said not to look as it was 'really obvious'! So now im wondering if that means its a boy!

We measured eye sockets and the little one yawned so we could look into the mouth at the roof palette! It was so marvellous.

I got back to work and have been soooo busy and last night when I got home I just collapsed! (so dramatic!)

Thanks for all the kind words and sorry this was such a long post!

Big hugs

Firststar - It is such a wonderful experience because it looks so different from the first one. I guess I do have another chance to find out the sex because I have my NHS one in two weeks. I went private with this one because I couldn't wait any longer!

I cant believe what a nightmare worrier I have been since pregnant! I used to be so laid back!

Good luck with your scan Firststar and I hope that you have a good experience. Are you going to find out the sex?

MFO - wow. Thats an incredible scan you got. Worth the money by the sounds of things. Our LO is huge too on the scale - right at the end of size scale measurements they print out on the page. i am hoping that it moves back a bit towards the average size before the end!
