sarahhh I'm the same, I'm really nervous. DH is off work and we were hoping nursery could have DS for an additional afternoon today, but there's no space for him so I'm gonna have to go in for the scan by myself.

TopKittyKat · 01/09/2016 10:59

Jpeg - that's so awful. I can't believe they won't offer you another scan.
Fingers crossed the bleed was 'just a bleed' and all is fine.

Jaffacakes1234 · 01/09/2016 11:14

That's awful jpeg!! How rude!
Ecofreckle, I've not had one come to my house but I know of other ppl who had booking at home

Number4OnTheWay · 01/09/2016 11:38

In my old area they came to my house, here they do it in a dr surgery. It depends on areas.

Helbelle75 · 01/09/2016 11:57

Well going to doctor was a bit pointless. Blood pressure all fine though. He prodded my tummy a bit which made me feel nervous for baby bump.
I have a dilemma. A friend of mine from university died and it's her funeral tomorrow. I was close to her but we drifted apart over the past few years. It will be a long day 3 hour train journey each way plus funeral and wake. I really want to go but people are telling me to take it easy and not to. What would you do?

MumiTravels · 01/09/2016 12:06

They do it at Antenatal Clinic in the hospital here.

I've had another bright bleed this morning too. Got my appointment in 11 days so just going to have to sit tight for that. Wen't to toddler group this morning to take my mind off it. It's nerve wracking though.

sarahhh1984 · 01/09/2016 12:08

Sorry about your friend, Helbelle. I'd say it's completely up to you. If you feel up to it and want to go then go, but if you don't feel up to it then you should probably stay home as you need to look after yourself and your little bean.

Perhaps if you don't feel up to it, don't go but send a sympathy card and some flowers (unless they've said no flowers, of course) to their family?

LotsaTuddles · 01/09/2016 13:15

At my old Drs it was see me in go surgery. This one it's see mw in sure start centre (which I'm already dreading as can't take pushchairs in so I'm going to have a 3 year old and 22 month old running round Shock) for "pre-booking" then they finish it at another appointment "potentially at your home".

Celen, out of interest, which Drs surgery are you with?

everdene · 01/09/2016 13:27

Helbelle I think if you feel up to it, then go. There's unlikely to be lots of standing around, in my experience people sit at wakes as there's food.

Sorry for the loss of your friend Flowers

sarahhh1984 · 01/09/2016 13:59

Went to my scan and the baby is healthy and I saw their little heartbeat!

The sonographer thinks I'm a bit behind where I thought (5+4 rather than 6+2) but she said it's probably just that I ovulated later than I thought. She said it's nothing to worry about and wait for my 12w scan before I worry about the due date. So happy and relieved. Smile

Helbelle75 · 01/09/2016 14:10

That's wonderful sarah.
Think I will go tomorrow everdene, it will be fairly relaxing on the train.

jpeg28 · 01/09/2016 14:11

sarah that's great news!!

Celen · 01/09/2016 14:26

I'm with Willesborough Medical Centre Lotsa and I see my MW there as well. With last years (non-successful) pregnancy, I saw MW at the centre then the other part of the appt at home x

Very pleased for you sarahhh!Smile

hummingbird100 · 01/09/2016 14:37

Lovely sarahhh really pleased for you!! Grin I'm just waiting for mine now shitting myself

LotsaTuddles · 01/09/2016 14:57

Ah Celen, just wondered if it was a new thing in the area, or just my surgery

Celen · 01/09/2016 16:18

Where we used to live (nr Gravesend) and with my first pregnancy, I always saw my MW at a Sure Start centre.

Dandelionrarrrr · 01/09/2016 16:35

I'm having a stupid issue that I'm hoping is pregnancy related. I keep smelling a metal smell. I've scrubbed the house, opened Windows even cooked a chili to cover the smell. It's still here. Is it just me that's weird. Or has anyone experienced anything like this.
I actually can't believe that EPU.
I see my mw at my local gp,

marmitecheesetoast · 01/09/2016 17:04

Great news sarah how exciting! Does it feel a lot more real now?!

Hope it goes ok Helbelle, take it easy. Sorry for the loss of your friend Flowers

Hope your scan has gone well too hummingbird?

How are you doing jpeg?

I've had the most ridiculous salt and vinegar crisp cravings last two days. DH has just texted to say he has been to the shop and bought a selection for me! Now to just not eat them all at once Hmm

The air con in our (massive glass) building at work has broken. Was soooo hot today, it made my nausea a lot worse Envy

Helbelle75 · 01/09/2016 17:05

My mw offered a home visit but I thought I would need an afternoon off work next week so went for the surgery appointment next week. I am bad!

jpeg28 · 01/09/2016 17:07

I'm doing ok thanks marmite... No more red blood which is good. Seem to still be cramping every now and then and still no pg symptoms. Called the mw and spoke to the most lovely lady who was really shocked about how the EPU treated me. She recommended booking a private scan just so I know either way which I have book for Sunday. Least then I'll know. Just got to sit tight and wait now.

marmitecheesetoast · 01/09/2016 17:12

That's good jpeg sounds like hopefully a good sign if no more red blood. It's hard to, but remember a bit of bleeding can be totally normal. At least Sunday isn't too far away. I have a private one booked on Saturday.

jpeg28 · 01/09/2016 17:18

Thanks marmite... Good luck for your scan. Grin

hummingbird100 · 01/09/2016 17:35

Hello! Yes it was fine - I'm 6 weeks today which is what I guessed, little heartbeat flickering away and everything looked good Grin my mmc was at 9 weeks last time so they've offered me a reassurance scan at 9 weeks, which I was happy to take!

hummingbird100 · 01/09/2016 17:36

jpeg I see sometimes on Groupon that baby scans can be £49 or so which doesn't seem too bad, I think they're usually about £100. I'd have gone for one at 9 weeks or so if I hadn't arranged one today Smile

jpeg28 · 01/09/2016 17:48

That's great hummingbird so happy the scan went well! I've paid £100 but it's close to where we live and it was the one recommended by mw... Hopefully it will be £100 well spent!
