morning everyone,
well done julezboo and great news for you Drjo. My breech baby seems to be very stubborn but I also get the squiming movements like you andyrobo.

Tommy · 05/02/2007 10:21

Cadbury - can you make me one of those boards too please?

At school this morning, someone told me that I should be "taking it easy" - shall I just ot bother about taking DS1 to school for the next fortnight then?!

Slept really badly last night as well even though I was back in my proper bed in decorated room (nearly finished!) - just too uncomfortable and kept having weird dreams about childbirth

Alocin · 05/02/2007 10:24

My Mum seems offended that the baby wont wriggle and kick on demand for her and keeps prodding at me to get it to fidget! Most bizarre!

Plans going full steam ahead for home birth, box and pool are here and going to Dr later for prescription for meptid. Dry run of blowing up pool this evening. And need to have a serious chat with dh as he seems to think that active birth means power walking throughout the first stage with no breaks! As if - I can barely waddle 500 yards now!

bubblebell1 · 05/02/2007 11:07

morning everyone! glad everyone is ok.

keep wondering if smudgemum has popped and hopefully no news is good news.

this is my last day of being a mum to 1
i am goin in tomorrow at 8 so hopefully if everything goes well i will be holding my new lo this time tomorrow.

i am so nervous. has anyone had an epidural? can u tell me how painful it is to have it administered?? im more worried about that than anything else sad i know ive given birth to a baby before but im still a complete whimp.

Cadbury · 05/02/2007 11:19

Tommy - the paint is out ready for the boards

Dr Jo - that's great news - My LO's back is on the left hand side and sticking out a fair bit (big bums in my family) and my midwife has just told me that it's in the perfect position for giving birth so there.

She also said that the head is engaged now - very pleased about that - ds didn't engage until birth itself and I'm told that the more babies you have the less likely they are to engage before th birth itself - hopfully, I'll have some other signs soon.

Congratualtions Julezboo - it's been a tough old ride for you but here's to a very happy outcome for you.

Bubblebell - I had epidurals with both my other 2 (induced) - it was rather painful going in the first time but then it didn't work all that well on one side so I don't think they did it right. The 2nd time, it went in with very little discomfort and was wonderful - was a very easy birth (for me anyway!) becasue of it. I even had a little snooze while I was between 8 and 10 cms dilated!!!

Tommy · 05/02/2007 11:37

thanks Cadbury
bubblebell, I had an epidural for DS1 and I went from screaming in agony to sitting up very calmly and reading the paper - DG said it was the most amazing transformation he'd ever seen of anything!
Good luck tomorrow

Tommy · 05/02/2007 11:37

(I also went to sleep between contractions and even snored and had dreams!)

DrJo · 05/02/2007 11:41

Thanks for the reassurance Cadbury - nice to know LO has finally got it right

Know what you mean Bubblebell - I don't like the idea of an epidural even tho' it is less painfull than labour and over sooner . It must be to know you will see your LO tomorrw

suis · 05/02/2007 11:48

Don't be nervous bubblebell - as a first timer I can't give you any help on what an epidural it will be like personally, but people who do know have told me that it just nips a bit when you get the local and it's fine thereafter.

Very exciting to think that you'll get to meet your beautiful baby in less than 24 hours !

hello Bubblebell

just to let you know my elective CS experience, the epidural going in was ok. They give you a little local anaesthetic on your back to start off with. I was sitting on the side of the theatre table reaching forwards/crouched forwards with knees up with DH holding me and we did the deep breathing we learned in NCT class as it was an odd feeling to have someone fiddling about, rather than painful or anything else (that goes for the entire CS experience - a bit weird). about 20 mins later we had our baby in our arms! and it was a great peaceful experience. have a nice meal and a glass or two with you DH tonight - the time will fly by.

good luck XXX

peachygirl · 05/02/2007 13:43

Bubblebell good luck how exciting you get to meet your baby tomorrow!!!

ja9 · 05/02/2007 13:56

i've just received a lovely bunch of flowers from mil to cheer me up - been down in dumps and gurny! promptly burst into tears when delivery man left - boy, i can't wait to have my hormone levels back to normal!!

have AN apt with MW at 3:30pm. i'm keeping my fingers crossed that she'll feel sorry for me and just take the baby out there and then!

chat soon

bubblebell1 · 05/02/2007 14:08

thanks everyone! as soon as i am home i will post and let you know all about the birth etc.
take care and good luck hope some of you pop too! xx

Cadbury · 05/02/2007 14:10

good luck bubblebell - enjoy meeting your little one

julezboo · 05/02/2007 14:30

Good Luck bubblebell!! How exciting!

Im just back from hospital again, trace was fine, bit of glucose in my sample, lots of iiregular contractions whilst on the moniter but nobody seemed to concerned, have had cramps since i got home though!

Feeling very teary today for some reason!

time4tea · 05/02/2007 15:51

just been to GP for AN appt, LO romping around. Student GP got to feel a naughty breech baby for real Glucose levels at blood test are a bit high, so I have to have the glucose tolerance test next week. Seems a bit pointless given that there's only 2 weeks to go.

Tried to cheer myself up with a nice cup of hot chocolate. Sometimes I feel OK - other times - what is this all about? (life generally!) will this baby come safely...? I can't cope with sorting out drawers let alone two children.. looking forward to hormones getting sorted out

snugglebumnappies · 05/02/2007 16:09

Hi bubble, good luck for tomorrow, the epi/spinal will be fine, I had an epi with my first albour which was a nightmare and have to say really hurt and took the aneathatist 3 attempts, so when I went to theatre for my emlscs last time I was terrified and have to say I didn't even realise that the aneathatist had finished as I felt absolutly zilch, just remember say to her "oh god you are fantastic, you are brilliant, so good...!!" I would say speak up if it is uncomfortable as it may just be your position is a little wrong or somthing that small and as it's an elective cs there is no rush, they can change your position and make it a better experience.

ChaCha · 05/02/2007 17:08

Good luck for tomorrow Oh the last day of being a mum to one - enjoy it bluebell xxx I'll be feeling the same next week i'm sure.

andyrobo237 · 05/02/2007 17:32

Good luck Bublebell! No news from Smdgemum / dad - take it as a good sign I hope!!!

Best of luck for tomorrow Bubblebell. I will be thinking of you and waiting for your birth announcement.

Andyrobo - I have a cs booked for 9th Feb, so am moving up the list!

Got lots of twinges over the last 3 days. The evenings seem to be the worst (or best, depending on how you look at it). Last night I got really bad period-type pains and was convinced it was starting, but then it dwindled to nothing after I went to bed.

suzi2 · 05/02/2007 19:28

Hi all - not been on in a while as all I seem to do is moan! Well, todays moan is much the same. Rib still giving me trouble, possibly an injury or pleurisy . Have the cold again and can't actually cough because of rib so not feeling the best today.

And to top it all off... I had a bit of a show today. Not sure whether to be pleased or not as I don't want to go into labour with my rib sore. I've since been niggly and periody all day and baby feels like she's trying to burrow out badly. So quite uncomfy. The show wasn't as much as I had with DS - just a couple of teaspoons worth - with DS it was masses of gunk! Anyone know if that means anything at all? I suspect her wriggling just moved something?

marmitemad · 05/02/2007 20:03

Hi everyone,
Not had a good day today. Woke up at 3am after dreaming I was having contractions (at least think I was dreaming ). Then could not get comfy enough to go back to sleep. Got up at 5am for a drink, read for 30mins and tried going back to bed. Got up for 2nd time at 6:15am and curled up on sofa, just drifting off when the cat managed to get her head stuck in a plastic bag full of curtain hooks/rings which she then proceeded to distribute around the whole house while trying to shake the bag off. dh got up in defensive mode thinking we were being burgled again. went back to bed for an hour then got up to try having breakfast as feeling very sick and had stomach ache. Felt very out of sorts so abandoned plan to go to aqua aerobics and went back to bed. managed to catch up on some sleep, then had lunch (and managed to slice off one side of thumb, small panic when it wouldn't stop bleeding through 3 tight plasters) and went out to Sainsburys. really struggled here even though I had a list as found it very difficult to focus and stay standing up. came home and went back to bed although achieved something by finishing breastfeeding book. feeling a bit better now after a bath and dinner. hoping to avoid a repeat performance tonight .

MoosMa · 05/02/2007 22:05

Andyrobo, my EDD is the 17th (although I don't mind if you tell the LO she's due earlier!).

Stubborn thing is still the wrong way round, her back is on my right and back a bit and I have feet sticking out front left. I really hope she turns soon, I'm feeling like I'm ready and like she wants to come out but can't. I've had loads of KNUF and some niggly pains but I don't know if it's just because she's wriggling and perhaps trying to turn. Moan moan. I can't believe I'm getting jealous of you lot having shows, who would wish to find dollops if goo in their knickers??

sorkycake · 05/02/2007 22:11

Bubblebell, good luck for tomorrow, tell us all about it when you can!

ja9 · 05/02/2007 23:50
