hi lexi

welcome to the due in feb thread.

ja9 · 04/02/2007 19:38

hi lexij. 39 wks! so exciting...

lexij · 04/02/2007 19:44

it is very exciting, and i can't wait to meet my baby, i just feel anxious that i won't cope with labour, i know this worry is a waste of my energy cos i have nothing to base it on as it's going to be the first time i do it!
i suppose i'm after sound bites or mantras that i can tell myself when it's tough, a friend recently said 'each contraction is one less' and mw keeps reminding me its all 'pain with a purpose' any other gems out there?

bubblebell1 · 04/02/2007 19:48

haha

to be completly honest i thought i was dying when i was in the full throws of labour.

it is all a blur and i know it wasnt pleasant but can remember feeling like i was only in labour 10 mins and that no matter how painful the contraction was there is respite in between all be it short at times. altho i think this could be down to the pethadine it could also of been my bodys way of coping.

other mantras ive heard are imagine its the waves rushing over u as you sit on a beach in a storm.

lexij · 04/02/2007 19:52

cheers bubble, i think i just have to accept that my body will do what it likes when it likes and that i have to go with it!
congrats ahead of tues, wish i could predict kick off!

MoosMa · 04/02/2007 19:57

Welcome along lexij, I remember thinking while in labour that no matter how much the contractions hurt, they weren't indefinite and would be over in a minute or so. Also the nice thing about them is that in between them there is no pain at all so you get a rest (if only for 1 minute come the end!) and I agree with your friend, each one you have means there is one less to go through and you're a few minutes closer to the end!

lexij · 04/02/2007 20:01

cheers moosma that is sound advice, i do have moments when i don't feel anxious, when i think about what it's all for, my first baby!

MoosMa · 04/02/2007 20:27

I'm getting very cross with this LO, I drove for 20 minutes on Thursday and she turned to OP, now despite hours of good posture and leaning forwards etc she's being very stubborn and not budging. I do still have 13 days until EDD but I can't helping getting impatient and worrying that she'll never turn and I'll go overdue again, be induced again, have a difficult hospital birth again etc etc...

andyrobo237 · 04/02/2007 21:03

Wow - been out most of the day and it has been really busy on here! I will update the stats in the morning - I was holding off to see if the pcal maleSmudge baby arrives!! I am uncomfortabe today - this buba keeps squirming and his head is obviously trying to make mu stomache bigger (it is breech). I dont get many kicks as such - it is more the head moving from the lhs to the rhs of my bump - great!!! I think he is trying to find the exit, but I keep telling him that he is upside down!!! Typical male!!

Got 10 days to CS - having quiet day tomorrow catching up on household paperwork and booking on-line shop so DH and DD can survive while I am at hosp!

Bouncyminky · 04/02/2007 21:52

It really is a bit of a rollercoaster at the moment - it's so exciting but at the same time with no action on the home front feels like waiting forever. It probably hasn't helped that I have not been out all day and not had motivation to do anything. It gets me quite down when I have nothing to do. And it's so weird because I can have had a fab day the day before.

But keep on trying to keep positive that I am so nearly there. I must say it is very exciting watching people post about the start of their labours - makes me focus on the important things - i.e. baby is fine and will get here - however eventually.

I know it was a long time ago but thanks for the heads up on the venture photography (i.e the hard sell and the huge cost) and for the link to the Oxford photographer - they are really good prices! I'm currently rethinking what to do as hate a hard sell..

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE LADIES STARTING THEIR LABOURS!!!! We'll see you soon!

Bouncyminky · 04/02/2007 23:04

Whilst we wait for these babies to come just thought I'd let you know of a very good thread I've just found on here about funny childbirth stories. I was feeling down but I think I've laughed for a good half an hour at these!

Also could be a novel way of getting our labours started!!

Childbirth funnies

forgottenfreetime · 05/02/2007 00:52

Hi all, What a lot of news last night and today! I've had a lovely day today - my birthday. We've been to lunch with friends with 3 other couples all with ch and theyve all had a great time. Went for a short walk while we were there and then my mum dad and bro came round this evening. Best bday in ages! Went to bed around 11 ish but then got woken by what I thought was a car alarm. Went outside quite confused as I thought it was coming from DHs car. He insisted it couldn't be. Alarm stopped when I locked and unlocked car. Came inside and went back to bed but then started getting 'funny sensations' - a bit BH like a bit like my contraction were like last time. Also feeling sick and pressure down below. Am in spare bed cos of spd so decided to post on here. Came in and realised laptop was off and the car alarm had actually been our house burglar alarm which goes off from time to time when i put too much washing in the machine and it blows the fuse. Can't believe I was standing on the drive and didn't realise -PMSL now - poor neighbours! Anyway all the aggro has made me too awake for bed and stopped any funny feelings I was having so must have been false alarm! Pleased in a way - still a day (and night) away from 37 weeks and home birth approval so would have had to call mum to be with ds and go to hospital. Hope others are getting going for real! Sos for long post.

suis · 05/02/2007 00:56

No word from Smudge then ?... can only assume things really have got going for her... how exciting. Hopefully it will be the start of a rush ! Looking forward to hearing your news Smudge.

On my own account, nothing moving much, still got a low bump and a few BHs, but it's been that way for 2 weeks now. Getting very hacked off with waiting now...

ChaCha · 05/02/2007 06:26

Hi everyone [big wave]

Like Ruthie21, also finding it hard to keep up but determined to keep posting as much as i can now too.

JULEZBOO - MY section is also booked for next week, I finally made the decision over a VBAC and can't believe that i'm having a baby next week!!!!

Will i ever sleep again?

hairycaterpillar · 05/02/2007 08:44

Bouncy- that link is soooo funny! Really cheered me up...must give gas and air a go this time (or maybe not!).

forgottenfreetime- happy birthday!

I think my bump has dropped. I didnt engage at all with ds and dd until in labour so not sure but bump seems lower, need toilet constantly and weird feeling like babies head between legs (obviously it isnt though).

julezboo · 05/02/2007 09:21

ChaCha - Im glad you came to a decision honey, I still have a little bit of hope that I may get to go naturally! But 11 days to go if I dont! What date is yours booked for?

Anyone else fed up of the "no baby yet?" comments! I get them now of at least 10 different mums at the school! Im very irritable and annoyed this morning with DP grrr good job hes at work!

Smudgemum - I hope things are happening and thats why your not posting!

sui - sorry your getting fed up of waiting! Wont be long now (probably the last sentence on the earth you want to hear sorry!)

Cadbury · 05/02/2007 09:35

Re the comments - I've thinking of making a sandwich board.

The front side for the less observant among the school and preschool mums saying "Yes, I am pregnant, thankyou for noticing at this late stage, no, I don't know what I'm having, yes, I hide it well don't I, Yes it must be becasue I'm a big girl anyway"

and then on the the flip side "Yes, that's right, due tomorrow, yes, time really has flown, no, I still don't know that I'm having"

and the hat that says "YES, I'M STILL HERE !!!!!!!"

Not that I'm getting fed up with this or anything

Got my midwife coming round any minute - I really want this baby to come this week now. My dd is getting herself tied up in knots emotionally (ds couldn't care less!) and dh has had his horrid big meeting so his desk is slightl clearer to take time off when it comes.

I got really uncomfortable last night and had to lean over the gym ball for a while to help it - and it did. The baby had better be further down now after all that.

Looking forward to hearing about the smudgebaby soon and everyone else who have had signs of things happening - wish it was me!

soundbites · 05/02/2007 09:38

Good morning ladies

I'm still here, 5 days overdue today and can't quite believe it. Was pretty upset this morning when we heard of a colleague who is due on Thurs 8th and had hers yesterday - surely she has jumped the queue! Those childbirth funnies have cheered me up no end, though - have been having a good laugh. Thanks Bouncyminky.

So today, to fill my time, I am going to clean the oven and do a load of ironing, and go for a walk ? what an active day!!! I said to DH that I am starting to believe baby won't be born. I know it is only 5 days but I feel the pressure from the family who are calling all the time - not saying 'any baby yet' but 'just calling to see how you are'. I feel like I am failing them in some way! I am booked for an induction on 14 Feb and am determined not to have to have that, but the baby might have other ideas. SIGH ?

Oh well, will keep you posted and looking forward to hearing baby news from some of you.

ja9 · 05/02/2007 09:41

morning y'all.

like everyone else i'm just desperate for baby to come! i've never been so uncomfortable. lots of tightenings and sore back etc, but no sign of anything real. i know i've still 3 wks to edd but that doesn't stop me dreaming....

hope we get some good news from somebody today to cheer us all up!

MrsJ · 05/02/2007 09:49

Hiya!
Well 39 +1 today and I don't think theres anything near a sign of anything even thinking of happening [pout] lol
I'm not on the list thingy still though, i'm due on 11th Feb if you want to add me?

Bouncymink- that link was so, so funny and has taken a little worry off! lol

ForgottenFreeTime- Happy birthday!! I remember our house alarm went off in the middle of the night once and woke me and DH up and we proceeded to lay there discussing how very close it must be and that someone should sort it out... then next morning realised! lol

As far as comments go my mums the worse, every time she can't sleep or she has tummy ache etc etc shes on the phone thinking its a sign... tried explaining its me that needs the symptoms lol also the cat was in a fowl mood the other morning hissing etc as i'd told her 'no' for something (She's a madam} and mum was walking round comepletely seriously saying to the cat 'Can you sense something? can you? they sense things you know...'
Help me!!! lolol

KatPoo · 05/02/2007 09:58

Morning all. My word of advice to all 1st times mums today is work out how to use steriliser 7 breast pump BEFORE baby is born. We spent hours doing it wrong / getting stressed on return from hospital last time!!! So today I am going to work out mine. . . . . .

Plan to bfeed but also always gave DS1 a bottle once a day and I think this helped me to have a break and also I did nt end up with a baby who refused the bottle later down the line. 2 good friends who bfed have had a MAJOR problem getting the baby on the bottle and have bfed forever and when they returned to work they would have to bfeed before work, as soon as home, before bed and in the night. . . the baby would take only solids durng day.

Bye for now - going out for lunch today with an old friend who is moving to NZ in a couple of months. xx

julezboo · 05/02/2007 10:00

MrsJ - Bless your mum! My mum has rung me twice a day since about 30 weeks!

Oh I forgot tomention before...

Im 38 weeks pg today!!!!!!!! Im so pleased with myself, thats 6 weeks more pregnant than Ive ever been !!!!!!!

DrJo · 05/02/2007 10:02

Morning all - need a position check here - LO has finally turned from breech (at 38.5 wks) - managed to do it between MW appointment last Wednesday and meeting with ECV consultant on Friday - I'd gone in prepared to argue strongly for an ECV despite previous CS to find there was no need for it It was a very short appointment . Now I need to know what "good" position is for the LO - At the moment baby seems to have its back on my left side and towards my front - Is that good or bad? It feels very strange after weeks of being breech/transverse/oblique as my bump is now sticking out more at the top and the kicks are in different places and much less energetic - Also how do you tell if the head is engaged? I am a second timer but DS1 never "dropped" last time.

Good luck bluebell for tomorrow - Hope to hear some good news from Smudgemum/Dad soon too

MrsJ · 05/02/2007 10:08

Congratulations Julezboo!

Yeah my Mums VERY excited! lol
I was getting a few twinges etc when she was over to visit us the other day and I didn't dare tell her! lol I was 95% sure it was nothing (and was right... obviously! lol) but well didn't dare to think what that other 5% might do to my Mum lolol Bless her.
