Good luck to everyone with sections booked over the next few days!
And congratulations to everyone with their new arrivals!

I have just come back from the hospital and my waters have gone, and if nothing else has happened by friday I am booked in for an induction.

Hope everyone else gets some happenings soon!
Take care xxx

Sallyallyally · 13/02/2007 20:23

Good Evening!!
Just back from hospital with little Henry Eric. Born 3:43 this morning, 9lb 3 1/2 oz, labour was 2 hrs 47 mins from start to finish...Was a high risk induction on labour ward in the end after a very miserable few days of intense contractions with nothing happening! He needed a bit of help getting out and it was a little dramatic, but to be honest was one of the best experiences of my life due to a fantastic obstetric team and a wonderful epidural! Was up and on my feet within a couple of hours, breastfeeding with no problems at all and looking far more glamourous than I have for months!! Very happy, Henry is gorgeous and I'm just settling down to a glass of champagne and toast and pate! Will post full story on birth announcements within next couple of days.

suzi2 · 13/02/2007 20:37

Congratulations sallyallyally... and congrats to the others I've missed! Good luck to all those that things are happening for.

I've been having a post birth experience think about things and reckon the following info might be useful to some...

If you're having a homebirth (or if your waters go at home) you might need a lot of towels! I had about 10 old towels and all were used. I literally flooded the bed when my waters went (it was pooling in the memory foam dimples lol) and again when I delivered.

Go with what works for your body. I think part of the reason things worked out so well for me was because I did exactly what I wanted to. I recall catching a glimpse of myself in the mirror mid contraction leaning over the playpen and stamping my feet. Must have looked a right idiot but it seemed to be what I needed to do. Again, mw made me try to push lying on my back after my waters went. 2 contractions and nothing. Got on my knees into a squat leaning over pillows. 2 contractions and she was out.

And I really can't rave enough about deep breathing. Can't believe how powerful it was at pain relief. Worth reading up on some techniques if you have a chance I reckon.

Oooooh - so exciting. All these little babies coming... I'm actually getting broody lol.

ja9 · 13/02/2007 20:51

congratulations sallyallyally. brilliant news.
enjoy...

well i continue to be sick on a daily basis. this morning ds (2)had the pleasure of watching me . heartburn terrible. and i'm really weepy. my tongue is currently sore (!) from eating too much pineapple. so fun all round

it is however, lovely to hear of los being born on a daily basis... keeps them mind focussed on the reward that lies ahead.

hope you all have a good night whether you're nursing bumps or babies and whether you're at home or in hosp.

God bless.
xx

leahsmum · 13/02/2007 22:12

Looks like things are moving here... after the waters going this morning (and continuing to go, where does it all come from ?) I've been having irregular contractions since 4 pm. Now getting pretty excruciating. Don't know how much longer I'll cope at home, but we'll see. DP has been up since 5:30am so is having a nap just now. I'm trying to let him sleep for as long as poss.

And now for the comedy part of the evening.... without thinking about it when I got home from the hospital I flushed the giant pad that they had given me for the leaky waters... and totally blocked the toilet. DP had to get right in there up past his elbow, and we had to call my Dad to come over before the thing got cleared eventually. Really really not the time you want your loo backed up. All the while I was having increasing contractions and feeling really stupid... I'm sure it will be a great story to tell later...

Good morning ladies,

Have seen every half hour on the clock since 1am - I am sooooooo tired!

How many Valentine babies are we expecting, very exciting! I'm sure that things are/have happening/ed for some of you since last night.

Andyrobo - Thanks for updating stats and thinking of you today - looking forward to the birth announcement Hurray!
Suis - Fingers crossed for you! and LOL at toilet incident - this happened to us last week but wet wipes were the culprit

Will waddle off and clean something...

SmudgeMum · 14/02/2007 07:42

Congrats Sallyallyally - hope you enjoyed your champagne and pate - well deserved after bringing Henry into the world! I'm really impressed with the feeling glam bit don't think I know what that is! I had pate yesterday for the first time sinc pg and it was lovely.
JA9 hope the sickness soon wears off. You're not allergic to pineapple are you? (runs away quickly before I get whacked)
LOL at blocked toilet Suis. Glad you got it sorted though. Hopefully you're not around to post because you're busy pushing! Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

ja9 · 14/02/2007 09:24

morning everyone!

just logged on for my daily whinge! sick twice already today. was the worst yet. luckily dh hadn't gone off to school yet and was able to look after both ds (who hid behind his blanket) and me. still feel quite shakey though... i wouldn't mind if i knew that it meant labour was close. sigh.

lol at suis and toilet. my 'funny' moment last night was playing scrabble. got to the end of the game and the last four letters on my tile board spelt our chosen boy's name!! spooky!! if we have a girl we're going to call her rosie (chose name for ds 2.5 yrs ago).. so for that reason i really don't want baby born today cos a rosie on valentines day would be seen as so cheesey! then on other hand i'm desperate for lo to be born asap, so bring it on!!

Tommy · 14/02/2007 10:16

Good morning!

Know how you feel ChaCha on the waking in the night front but last night I was lucky and only woke up once

Certainly feel that things are getting ging down there although nothing specific yet. Also think Valentine's Day would not be a good day to give birth but I guess I don't get to choose anyway do I?!

Hope everyone has a near as copmfortable day as possible. I don't do cleaning for mey nesting - only baking and DS2 wants to nake heart shaped biscuits so I'd better get on with that!

bunny3 · 14/02/2007 14:11

I had a baby girl on Saturday, she is lovely and we are totally besotted. I had a natural delivery after having my waters broken by the doctor. An epidural kept the pain away completely (bliss) and I only had 2 small stitches so not bad at all.

Good luck to the rest of you still here, your turn soon. I shall look forward to the birth announcements from you all.

forgottenfreetime · 14/02/2007 14:18

Don't say everyone's off having babies except me! Its very quiet on here for a change - our thread was half way down the page! Not much happening with me. Tidying out my office of papers from before last maternity leave 2 years ago! Period pains continuing on off through the night and BH through the day. Bit bored really - got loads of jobs to do but would rather sit and gaze at a baby now! My MN nickname was definitely only apt whilst I was at work - now feel a bit at a loose end, which is a shame really as I should be luxuriating in idleness! I know it won't last. Anyone doing anything exciting? Or even mildly interesting?

Tommy · 14/02/2007 14:22

congrats bunny!

not doing anything interesting fft, - have loads to do but am whiling my time away here instead!

stoppinattwo · 14/02/2007 14:29

just to let you guys know Andyrobo had a big boy this morning.......thomas 8lb 8oz

Everyone is fine

ja9 · 14/02/2007 14:48

oh congrats bunny and andyrobo!!!

lovely news.

ja9 · 14/02/2007 15:55

it's all quiet...

wonder who is in active labour just now..

suis?

Alocin · 14/02/2007 18:13

Congrats to all new arrivals!

Ha! New I wasnt mad. Went to see mw this pm and lucky for me wasnt my usual. Actually took me seriously when I said I thought I was measuring huge and really wanted a growth scan. Still only 1/5 engaged and measuring 42 weeks at 39.5 weeks! Get to see consultant and have scan tomorrow. We asked about chances of elective CS and were told by mw, 'they are trying to get statistics down' - not with me they arent! Truly dont see the point in trying to induce if only successful 20% of time if head not engaged. Rant over! Glad I got that off my capacious chest.

ChaCha · 14/02/2007 18:15

Congratulations Bunny and Congratulations Andyrobo Hurrah!!!
Look forward to the detailed birth announcements.

I've been a bit all over the place and cleaning everything in sight, currently checking my hospital bags (again) and in total denial that these tiny babygro's and vests are actually going to be worn by our baby this week! Although DS is only 14 months old his babygro's are massive compared to these tiddly things - i've forgotten how small babies are !

Onwards and upwards for me, i've totally stopped sleeping it seems, not even a nap today and i'm surviving on minimal sleep (if you can call it that). Hope to hear from tomorrow's EDD ladies later. Off i go...

ChaCha · 14/02/2007 18:17

Alcoin - x posts. I hope they give you an elective if that's what you want. 20% success rate IMO is pretty low and having had such a horrible induction experience myself (don't want to put anyone off, my b/f has had two perfect inductions and swears by them - both babies delivered naturally within hours) hope you get the birth that you want! x

marmitemad · 14/02/2007 18:36

Congrats to Bunny, Andyrobo, Sallyally and Cadbury.
Had a lovely lie in this morning until 10am (didn't even get up to give DH Valentines card/pressie) after a reasonably good night apart from usual loo trips.
Went to Costco and had lunch out with friend. Came home for a nap which MIL interrupted after 30mins with an unannounced visit and then mother rang to "see how I was".
Am now making a very hot chilli (don't like curry) to be followed by fresh pineapple for dessert and maybe nipple stimulation if I can face it.
