ja9 · 12/02/2007 21:39

andyrobo - ur doing a stunning job of keeping us all up todate with the details of births etc. thank you

well today is the day i had ds in last pg iyswim, so i now feel overdue even tho' still 12 days to edd.

despite morning sickness and terrible heartburn, i'm feeling much better today than i've done all month.

good luck to snugglebunny for tomoro and lots of sympathy to all those now overdue.

chat soon.

leahsmum · 12/02/2007 22:06

Wow what a busy day today!!

Congratulations to all the new mummies and babies. Hope all goes well back at hospital Hairycaterpillar.

Well I have appt at Daycare unit 2morrow for 9am. Hoping internal/sweep is successful and things start themselves off soon. If not I reckon they may offer to induce me as will prob be less trouble for them to do that than to have me in every couple of days for bp/urine/blood tests.

Well i'm off to re-pack my hospital bag too and an overnight bag for dd incase anything should happen suddenly.

Tommy · 12/02/2007 22:52

I did a bit of hoovering as well marmitemad (unheard of ) but it was the new bedroom carpet - very smart. Have remade the bed with various waterproof things and will out some more just by the bed where I get out just in case waters break as I stand up.....

Have been feeling a bit twingey today but nothing too regular or long lasting. Will probably still be here in a fortnight

suis · 13/02/2007 00:58

Goodness ! I'm leaking ! I know it's old hat to some of you, but I've just had my first "wet t-shirt" experience. Most exciting thing that's happened in days ! Here's hoping it's a sign that things are moving along.

HairyCaterpillar - if I read the exchanges between you and Ja9 correctly, I reckon that means you'll be in SRI, same as me (if this wee person ever decides to make an appearance that is) I'll keep an eye out if I do make it in there in the next couple of days.

Congratulations KatPoo.. wonderful name !

... just had a look as Smudge's wee boy... very cute... still can't believe I'm getting one of those.

OP posts:
Bienchen · 13/02/2007 08:16

Congrats to all the new Mums - look forward to the birth announcements.

Hairy, my DS was jaundiced too and we had two extra nights in hospital but all was well in the end, so maybe it is not a blood disorder just a slightly immature liver?

It's role reversal here chez Bienchen as DP has finally started nesting! We cleaned the wooden worktops in the kitchen and they had an oiling too, probably for the first time in the last 12 months... DP then helped with a mega shop and reorganised the fridge!!

Good luck to all those overdue and those with cs booked!!!

SmudgeMum · 13/02/2007 08:37

Wow - I'm away for a day and it'll take me at least 20 mins to read everyone's news. (Ok actually 45 mins and by the time I post it there'll prob be more to catch up on!)
Hi to R&OMummy - have you thought about putting everything away that you've got ready and then the LO will try to catch you out?
Congrats to Hairycaterpillar - love the names. My godson (age 6) is coming to visit us today and he's a Benjamin and very lovely. Hope you managed some sleep before going back into hospital. I hope you get to stay with him and can just relax and make the most of the help and you'll soon be home again. Congrats to Soundbites too. Sounds like the girls are catching up with the boys! Glad all went well in the end but sounds quite a scary time for you. I'd never heard the name Isla before but it's beautiful.
Well done Katpoo. You make it sound so easy! Hope all is well with you and baby Kai. Delay?? Is that in posting - you only had him 2 days ago!!!! Marmitemad sounds like you had a hectic day yesterday. Hope it all kicks off soon and then all the hassle will be worth it Tommy glad your carpet is installed. It sounds like you'll have it well protected. Suis I'll keep my fingers crossed that this is the start for you. Hope today passes quickly for those not feeling great and slowly for those feeling ok. Anyone overdue and wanting it to kick off, I'm sure walking up a big hill helped for me!

DontCallMeYummy · 13/02/2007 11:46

Due tomorrow - so what to do on your 'official' final day of freedom?
Me and the DP are here at the library (might as well get something back for our extortionate council tax bills) after having pancakes for breakfast. DP has decided he wants to be an Earth Daddy and is looking online for baby slings, can anyone advise on these? He likes the idea of the wraparound ones more than the traditional Baby Bjorn style. But... this feels like I've been given approx 24 hours to live and I should be spending it either on a masseuse's couch dripping with oils or sipping tea and eating cakes at the Ritz. Because (potentially) as of tomorrow it'll all be Farleys rusks and unwashed hair. I don't even want to give birth because I like being pregnant so much (cue many from the rest of the thread) - honest. I like having a Christmas pudding for a belly, I love all the little internal wriggling, warm oily baths have become part of my everyday routine (oh the joys of being a first-time mum), getting a seat on the tube has never been easier and I'm still small enough to fit on the back of DP's scooter. If only I'd bought a back-up pair of maternity trousers I could stay like this forever. And it'd save on buying a baby sling.
Am I the only one not itching to get the baby out?

forgottenfreetime · 13/02/2007 12:18

I think so Yummy, but nonetheless its lovely to hear someone enjoyiing their pregnancy so don't stop! The wilkinet is a good sling when two very different sized people will be using it (e.g. dh and you?) The long ties compensate for all short/tall and width varieties of person.

Anyone know whats happened to currantbun? I know she was working up to this week but....

peachygirl · 13/02/2007 12:22

Hi all, just popping on to say I think my waters have broken. I'm currently waiting for DH to arrive home (he's getting on the train now) after an emotional phone call to the FAU ( where I was supoosed to be this morning) and labour ward and the university which I think had the secretary and DH's colleagues searching for him round the building. I've rung the labour ward and they have said it's Ok to wait for him but I am definitly loosing liquid and lots of mucus.

I am a bit emotional as I was worried I'd have to go in alone but I have calmed down a bit now.

Someone will post later I'm sure

DrJo · 13/02/2007 12:51

Congrats to all the new mums and good luck snugglebunny and andyrobo for the CS's - Peachygirl weren't you due for a CS this week - Is baby still breech do you think? Hope all goes well.

I am due today but don't think it will happen yet, so I will try to post the stats updates since Andyrobo is likely to be otherwise occupied from now on

andyrobo237 · 13/02/2007 13:06

Great DrJo - this will be me last posting as a parent of one dd!!! Not quite sure it has sunk in yet that by this time tomorrow (as long as no emergency sections to go before me!!) I will have a ds! DD and I have had a lazy day - didn;t get dressed until midday as I needed to dye my hair (LOL) and then shave my nether regions - not as easy as you would expect - I needed to lose a 2cm strip along the bikini line, but did a general tidy up as well! Also did the full exfoliate and body lotion - took an hour in all and now feel really fresh!

Caught up on the washing so my mum doesn'r have to do too much (she thinks DH is incapable of using the machine!!), and packed dd's bag as she is going to mums tonight.

Good luck to all other overdue and due around now ladies - when I am back (hopefully after the weekend) there will be tons of babies to catch up with!

marmitemad · 13/02/2007 13:50

Yummy, I too have enjoyed being pregnant and have felt quite sad that it has to end soon and although the last few days/nights have been difficult I only started feeling impatient yesterday.
Good luck Peachygirl, I guess they will do your c section today? and also to Andyrobo for tomorrow. Hope everything goes well for both of you.
The alarm installers have finally finished here and despite my good intentions to go swimming, clean bathroom & kitchen and make chilli today, I am going back to bed to try and catch up on some sleep.

suis · 13/02/2007 14:02

Well the wet patches on the T-shirt were prophetic after all ! I woke at 5 this morning with a searing pain on the left side of my back, this went after a bit and I toddled back to bed, only to have my waters break at 7:30. Thank heavens for sleeping in tracky bottoms...not a drop on the bed clothes !

Been in to the hospital for some monitoring and examining but no contractoins so far, so I've been sent home in the hopes that something gets going overnight, otherwise it's an induction tomorrow morning. Still leaking like a sieve mind you... about to go put about 3 layers of towels on the couch before attempting to lie down.

ja9 · 13/02/2007 14:05

fantastic suis!! will wait with baited breath to hear your news. keep us as posted as you can about developments! oooh exciting!

now, can it be my turn yet? purlease?

Cadbury · 13/02/2007 14:11

that's exciting suis - send some of those leaky, water popping vibes this way please

good luck!

SmudgeMum · 13/02/2007 14:43

Good luck all those where it's started or already planned with CS. Dontcallmeyummy I really enjoyed being pg too. I think about the last week I'd had enough but I kind of miss it now. I keep rubbing my belly (still quite Xmas pudding like!) and finding it odd that the LO that was wriggling in there is now out for all to see. Saying that, I wouldn't put him back for all the world

MoosMa · 13/02/2007 15:31

I've decided today that however impatient I am the LO isn't allowed to make an appearance for another 10 days at least. Although I'll be a week overdue by then I'm keeping my legs crossed! DH has a super important show to prepare for (Bristol sound and vision) as he's been given 4 rooms free (someone else needs stuff to display their equipment on) so he's going to be working all hours making furniture until the 22nd when he has to go and set it all up. So really he doesn't have time to attend a birth! Oh the things we do for our DHs/business....

FFT I was wondering about currantbun too, she's been missing a while...

julezboo · 13/02/2007 16:43

Afternoon all!

Just a quickie as Ive just got back from hospital got to go pick DP from work. Had my pre op today, to say Im scared now is an understatement!! The last time I had a section i didnt wake up for ten days! They promised me though this time will be very different!

Will catch up later on tonight on everyone posts!

MrsJ · 13/02/2007 16:51

I think my waters are leaking... I have rung the labour suite at the hospital and they want me to go up at 5.30 tonight to have a look...
Feel a bit paranoid that i'm being paranoid lol
What will they do? Nothing else is going on... just leaky. Sorry TMI.

leahsmum · 13/02/2007 17:16

Another busy day. good luck peachygirl and anyone else with leaky waters etc.

I was at daycare assessment this am and had a very uncomfortable membrane sweep. Not very pleasant at all. Anyway they said my cervix is already softening and looks on its way to doing something {?} Didnt mention wether or not i was dilated any though. Booked in for an induction on Thursday afternoon if nothing happens before then. Quite excited now though nervous at the same time - all the worries of how I'll manage with 2 children. Had a show at least - though doc did say I would prob have one 2day due to him sweeping the membranes. Kinda like a light period - (sorry if TMI).

Good luck for all those booked in for cs's tomorrow!

TuttiFrutti · 13/02/2007 18:08

I'm now back home with Emma, which is fantastic although a lot less restful than hospital! Ds hates having a new sister, as I had feared he would - lots of tantrums and screaming this afternoon.

Andyrobo - firstly, good luck! And secondly, for the stats, Emma's weight was 7lb 8oz.

Good luck too to all those getting last minute checks done on leaking waters and sweeps.

SmudgeMum · 13/02/2007 19:24

Welcome home Tuttifrutti and Emma. I hope DS soon comes round to having a baby sister.
Hope tonight is the night for those who want it all to happen - Valentine's Baby anyone? (I know Andyrobo's will be) Hoep you have all planned wonderful romantic days for DP - do you think making toast, cutting it with a heart shaped pastry cutter and spreading strawberry jam on it will make up for the fact that I haven't got DH a present?

sorkycake · 13/02/2007 19:26

Can I just pathetically wish everyone who has delivered in the last couple of days the very biggest of Congratulations! I was trying to remember everyone for doing this post at the end and then gave up, becoming immersed in Andyrobo's stat's. Glad everyone is doing ok though. Cb hasn't been on for a while now has she, hope everythings ok? I follow the runner's thread as well, but don't post, and she hasn't been on there either. Mind you she was going to work up to 37 weeks which is maybe just last week, so p'raps she's not had time.
I'll keep popping back so FFT isn't lonely , but otherwise see you all on the other side.
Smudgemum are you over there?

SmudgeMum · 13/02/2007 19:27

Meant to say Marmitemad, my midwife was really supportive of delivering standing up. She was pretty young though (don't know if that means she is more open to suggestion or not) I think it was actually her idea! I don't think I actually lay on the bed at all apart from for examinations. I was kneeling at the side of the bed for most of it. Have to say that I have friction burns on my knees and elbows now! Stick to your guns and do whatever feels right. I hadn't planned it like that but that was how I was most comfortable.

SmudgeMum · 13/02/2007 19:29

Hi Sorkycake. I have been popping in on the postnatal thread but too much is happening here as well. Come and have a chat on the other thread so I don't look too sad! I think I need to get out more!
