Wow, more super news, Congratulations Soundbites and what a lovely name!!

Peachyclaire and other planned section ladies, can i have a rundown of what's gone into your hossie bags pls...just want to reassure myself that i do have everything.

LOL I'm not peachyclaire... But I think she was congratulated on my pregnancy and will probably be congratulated on the baby too!!! We are often mixed up

Ok in my bag I have
For Me
nightie and Pjs, cotton dressing gown
slippers, soap bag including paracetamols and ibuprofen (for DH), towels for body
maternity pads (a whole pack but hopefully won't need this many) breast pads, some trial size packs - thought DH could bring more in if I need them, cotton wool pads.
fluffy socks(but don't actually think I'll need these) hair grip, big pants, Bfeeding bra.
for baby
nappies (16) not sure why this number specifically.
4 muslins, 3 hats (2 match sleepsuits) ,1 pair scratch mitts, 4 vests, 5 sleepsuits. A lovely blanket and a little snuggly rabbit.
My friend told me to take sleepsuits from a selection of shops - which I think someone on here also recommended as baby might not fit in some.
Aagin I don't know if I'll need all this but I am proud to say it all fits into one bag and the bag isn't stuffed to the brim.
I also have a new book , a marion keyes - light reading in case baby sleeps lots (wishful thinking)
The camera.
I'll probably also put some snacks in and a bit of money.
My friend was in for about 3 days including the day she had her section whch was an emergency. For me that will mean coming out on a saturday or sunday, what do you think my chances are?? Or do you think I'll be in til monday??
Also on your booking in appointment did you need to take a sample?

MoosMa · 12/02/2007 15:15

Congratulations Suzi2 and Hairy, lovely names!

Yes you did read right Smudgemum, needles for my birthday. I did get a Phil & Teds pushchair for Christmas though so can't expect much for birthday! I might get some wellies too though....

MoosMa · 12/02/2007 15:19

And to Soundbites too!

titchy77 · 12/02/2007 16:14

Peachygirl they let me out on a saturday thou i didn't have a c/s but my dd needed to be checked by a doctor before we left as she was in special care 2 days previous.

titchy77 · 12/02/2007 16:15

congratulations soundbites and all the other ladies that had their babys and good luck to all those still waiting. xxx

forgottenfreetime · 12/02/2007 16:27

Too busy! - congrats to the three new mums. Will look at birth announcements later to get the low down.

ChaCha · 12/02/2007 16:27

Sorry for mix up Peachygirl
Thanks for the list, funny you should write 16 nappies, I have packed 17 and like you, not sure why this number in particular and why i didn't just pop a pack in the bag! Have you remembered flip-flops for the shower room? And maybe slippers just for the ward/room? And maybe some anti-bacterial wipes too? I'd forgotten breast pads, think i still have a box up in the loft from last year that i may have to dig out - oh and talk of maternity pads - i still have packs left that i bought last time - I found them extremely uncomfortable and a waste of time, someone on MN suggested always night time pads and they were fab! I also read a few weeks ago about a type of pad that is great for use post-section due to what its made from, wish i could remember now.

My mum has just brought me some wordsearch books and magazines for my case too...i'm so sure there is something else...

Ta x

KatPoo · 12/02/2007 18:25

Sorry for the delay all!

Baby 'Kai Xavier Wright'

Finally arrived 3.12am sat 10th Feb

7lb 3oz and absolutely gorgeous!

Birth was ok - briefly used tens machine at home / till 4cm. Eventually let me have pethidine at 1.45pm & into the labour suite at 2am. Using gas and air and will power he was born normally at 3.12am!

We are all exhausted but delighted xxxx

Congrats to all the other new arrivals & I hope all you others get your babies very soon!

peachygirl · 12/02/2007 18:41

congratulations Katpoo another boy for our list!!

hairycaterpillar · 12/02/2007 18:45

Wow sooo many babies...

congratulations to all...

Thanks for the congrats waswondering...my secret is well and truly out!!

Unfortunately Ben and I have got to go back into hospital as he is jaundiced and his level requires light treatment. Am sooo gutted, blood disorder runs in the family and he has a 50% chance of inheriting it and this suggests he may have it .It's not serious I know but was sooo pleased to get home i'm gutted.

Won't be able to catch up for a while so hope everything goes well for all of you still to "pop". Look forward to hearing all your stories and about your lo's soon.

peachygirl · 12/02/2007 18:47

oh no Hairy Caterpillar hope everything goes well with the light treatment and you can get home soon.

ja9 · 12/02/2007 19:01

will be thinking of you lots.

Tommy · 12/02/2007 19:25

you'll be in the best place hairycaterpilar. Hope it all goes well.

Congratulations Katpoo!

andyrobo237 · 12/02/2007 19:50

Been for pre-op check this afternoon - passed 2 hours as had to wait for aenthesist (sp) - now got to go and re-pack bags as they have told me to come in the night before so they can get my sugar levels stable - so need an overnight bag! I had packed one small weelie case and the baby changing bag - so back to square one! It makes sense as I will spend the night on the ante-natal ward, whcih is joined to the labour ward (in a u shape with the theatre at the end), and will walk to the theatre and then get transferred downstairs after delivery some time (several hours later no doubt!). DH will leave the case in the car until I get a room and then bring it all in! It would make more sense to get you a post-natal room thenight before so you can unpack and then go up for delivery and come back to the same room - but that is maybe too obvious!

Sorry for the errors in the stats - blame my pg brain drain! More babies arriving by the day - I reckon mine will be the biggest - possibly over 10lb!!! We will see!! BUBBLEBELL currently holds the record at 10lb 1oz!!!

Elective Section booked toward end of week. Thanks x

marmitemad · 12/02/2007 21:03

wow what a busy day, its taken me 45min to catch up!!
Congrats to all new arrivals, am finally starting to feel a bit impatient now (and had irrational urge to clean all skirting boards and doors tonight despite feeling the size of a hippo).
Had a very bad night, could not get comfortable for ages then woke up feeling sick, spent 1 hour with head in bucket before actually being sick.
Had to get up unwillingly at 8am as alarm installers had arrived. Went to GP for BP and urine check, BP still high and more protein so back home to load car up again and head off to DAU.
Got my mum round to babysit alarm installers (she was in a right panic, despite our best efforts to reassure - and we had to remember to keep quiet about last weeks trip to DAU).
DAU heaving with people so ended up spending 5 hours there, and was finally put in the room on the other side of the birthing pool which had a lady in it screaming for most of the time
Anyway, BP still high and protein but blood test negative for PE so just seeing consultant on Thursday if no other changes before.
Have also just booked an appointment with an acupuncturist for Saturday to try and get things moving
