wow tuttifrutti!!!! fab fab news. congratulations. very sweet name too. looking forward to hearing her arrival story...

MrsJ · 11/02/2007 11:35

congratulations Tuttifrutti!

ja9 · 11/02/2007 11:38

gosh - an eventful night for many.

me too. woke at 3:30 and had a couple of very sore contractions. was sure it was the start of things so got up and put the heating on for mws coming!! had an hour of soreness, took paracetamol and woke up at 9am in really grumpy form because nothing else had happened!! so disappointed!

i've been sick again this morning. that's evrey day or every other day for the past 10 days or so. not nice. at least dh was here this time to rub my back, see to ds and clear up. when i was sick the other days ds was crying for his daddy - i think the wee lamb was scared. he keeps saying 'mummy you sick in kitchen and i crying'.

well, look forward to seeing what the day brings for everyone... all the best ladies.

SmudgeMum · 11/02/2007 12:02

Ooh, some of you sound like me last week. Pains were coming and going but quite irritating so don't give up, you'll be doing things I'm sure. I'm looking at Dominic now asleep in front of me and can't believe that I was lying over a gym ball this time last week!

Congrats Tuttifrutti - a girl to try and redress the boy overload! Going into labour when not having eaten or drunk for 12 hours means your LO really wanted out! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

leahsmum · 11/02/2007 12:30

Congratulations TuttiFrutti!! Hope things are starting to kick off for some of you - esp the overdues.
I actually slept pretty well last night - managed to stay in bed the hwole night - didnt get up for a toilet break til 6am!!

suzi2 · 11/02/2007 14:16

Congratulations tutti.

Thoroughly mserable now Still having contractions but nothing else happening. They're no closer together or stronger. Have spoken to the mw and it's just one of those things... The last few days with DS were just like this. Reckon I have a few days left anyway but I'm to see the mw tomorrow if it's still going on. Totally exhausted and could do with some sleep so wish they'd just give me a one hour break!

forgottenfreetime · 11/02/2007 14:47

Aaw Congrats to tutti frutti and comiserations to suzi2. Having been prepared for another night from hell I actually managed to sleep pretty well last night which is an utter miracle because ds woke up and started crying really badly and dh got up to him for the first time ever and went to sleep with him in his bedroom (well lay down while ds snored apparently). Totally amazed at dh - especially since yesterday he was very attentive to ds too and did all the running afetr him in the supermarket etc (Ican't move fast enough). First time in ages I know why I married him . Have sent them both to bed for a nap now and might have 40 winks myself in a bit. Love Sundays!

suzi2 · 11/02/2007 16:13

They're fading. Not sure whether I'm happy or not lol, but I've managed to get a little bit of sleep. And I've just phoned DH on the phone intercom to request room service Happy days

suzi2 · 11/02/2007 16:32

whey hey! Never thought I'd be pleased that they had stopped but now at least I can get some R&R before the big event. Whenever that may be!

andyrobo237 · 11/02/2007 16:44

Congrats TF - how on earth can you email from the hospital?? That is technology!

I am now 3 days away from my section - had disagreement with DH over hoovering the lounge floor - I asked him 3 times yesterday to do it - DD had split glitter on the floor and it was bugging me - eventually today after doing the ironing I picked all the stuff up off the floor and plonked the hoover in the middle of the lounge - he said he would do it after we had been to Mothercare to get dd some new school shoes - but I threw a stop and said I would do it mself as it was the only way to get anything done around here - he was watching footie fgs!! Well he did it in the end, after saying it was my hormones playing up - no love, just you!!!!!

Anyway - more babies on the way - updated stats below!! Many sympathies to those that are now officially overdue - it must be awful waiting and hanging on to every twinge thinking is this it - you will all get there - just think about the poor ones at the end of the waiting list who have to wait until the end of Feb before they are even due!!

Great updated stats - my section is booked for this week too (no longer 25th).

Question for the elective/booked section ladies. How did you find your booking appointment? I can't remember whether i posted this already or not (forgive me for repeating myself if i did) but the consultant told me i will be able to have the screen lowered and watch baby being lifted out as well as having it placed directly on my chest. For me this is the ultimate high as i didn't have any of that with last year's emergency section. Just thought i'd mention it -

I'd like to keep in touch with those having sections this week too - swap notes if you like. Feeling v.excited and also v.nervous. Julezboo - What part of the UK are you in?

ruthie21 · 11/02/2007 17:51

hi guys
just popping on to say thanks for the kind wishes and our little girl was born weighing 6/12 at 3.25am 11.02.07 all home and well.
good luck to everyone still waiting
xx

SmudgeMum · 11/02/2007 17:53

I know that officially I should be in the postnatal thread but it's a bit lonely over there so can I stay and cheer you all on? I've done a profile page thing now and put up some pictures of DS. He wants some new friends to play with so have some serious words with your LO
Oh Suzi, sorry they've stopped but at least as you say you can now get some sleep. It might mean that when it kicks off for real, it will all be that bit faster?
Forgottonfreetime I'm glad DH is helping out and giving you some time to rest. Make the most of it whilst you can. Andyrobo I know what you mean about getting jobs done. Sometimes it's just not worth the hassle of waiting and asking and waiting and asking. Blokes just have different priorities, that's what I keep telling myself!

SmudgeMum · 11/02/2007 17:55

Congrats Ruthie. Glad all went well and you are home so soon (and have managed to post!!) Sleep well and let us know when you have a name!

peachygirl · 11/02/2007 18:06

Congratulations Ruthie!!! Another lttle girl to make the numbers up.
smudge mum, they are great pictures. I did my profile page yesterday in anticipation of baby's arrival.
Andyrobo I know what you mean about DH I ask him again and again to do some jobs and then end up doing them with him saying don't lift that I was going to do it.. I have to say though he has been very good generally.
It looks like this week coming will be a busy one with everyone overdue and all the C sections booked in.
Chacha. I have my booking in appointment on Tuesday.
I definitely want skin to skin ASAP but not sure how I feel about watching baby be lifted out. I actually think DH might end up on the floor if we do that

qsack · 11/02/2007 19:16

congratulations ruthie.

up date here. woke this morning to discover waters started to leak, hospital told me to come and get checked out. seems it's my hind waters which makes sense and fore waters still intact so got to go in tomorrow first thing to be put on anti biotics for baby and then they'll induce me. here's really hoping i go into labour tonight which the doctor said is quite possible.

not really looking fwd to being induced as told it can be more painful then if you go into labour naturally but doc said that as i've had other kids my body will know what it's doing and should be ok.

off to the cinema now with dh a it'll be the last chance for a while. good luck to all those who might be on the way.

snugglebumnappies · 11/02/2007 19:22

Oh I well behind on my congratulations, I think to SHHHH, Sorky and Ruthie21 and to anyone I have missed, sorry!!

Well Thanks you to Andyrobo who remembered us waiting at the back of the que at the end of FEB

I think this whole mumsnet thing is making me very impatient, after all it's baby number three and I have never thought "oh is this it?!" with every twinge and BH and bowel movement (tmi I know!) with the others, hmmm I must try to remember that it will come when it's good and ready.

Still feeling very very uncomfortable with the SPD that was agitated by my slip last week! A bit pissed off as the physio dept at my transfer hosp won't see me as I am not within their PCT (tried to argue with them that people now have CHOICE as to which hospital they attend but they have their fingers in their ears) ans as I am not booked at my local hosp I don't have a hosp number and therefore can't get a referal unless I go to the ANC and book to get a hosp number, what a waste of resources and time, if only A&E wasn't so full of drunks I would turn up there then they would have to see me, aghhhh!

snugglebumnappies · 11/02/2007 19:32

oh qsack, missed your post, it always surprises me hoe different all hosps are, however have never known of one to to an induction for a hindwater leaak. Even with a forewater leak the NICE guidlelines are now to leave you up to 96 hours unless you have a risk factore such as +ve step B swab. Will now try and post a link for NICE guidelines but you all know how hopeless I am at them!

NICE

will cut and paste the important bit in case it doesn't work!

your waters break before labour starts

Sometimes a woman's waters break before labour starts. This happens in about one in twenty pregnancies and is known as prelabour rupture of the membranes (or PROM). When this happens, about nine out of ten women will go into labour naturally within twenty-four hours. The longer the time between PROM and the birth of the baby the higher the risk of infection to you or your baby.

If you are more than 37 weeks pregnant and your waters have broken but you have not gone into labour you should be offered the choice of either:

? Induction of labour
OR

? A "wait and see approach" to see if labour will start naturally
As a wait and see approach carries a slight risk of infection, you will need to:

check your temperature twice a day
check for changes in the colour or odour of your amniotic fluid ("waters")
check for any other signs of fever (e.g. shivers, flushing)
If you have not gone into labour after, at most, four days induction is strongly recommended.

If your waters break before you go into labour, your chances of having a caesarean section will not be increased by choosing either induction or "wait and see".

MoosMa · 11/02/2007 19:51

Congratulations Tutti and Ruthie, and also snugglebum for your first successful link!

suzi2 · 11/02/2007 20:19

lol - yes congrats sungglebum on your link

suzi2 · 11/02/2007 20:19

lol - yes congrats sungglebum on your link

MoosMa · 11/02/2007 20:55

Am feeling very pleased with myself - I've just mended DH's work jeans I've done one pair and half of the 2nd pair but I broke my only needle so will have to wait until after my birthday (24th) when I'll get some more and I can finish

It's very sad what we get excited about these days isn't it?

forgottenfreetime · 11/02/2007 21:19

Not at all Moosma - I was feeling immensely satisfied with myself yesterday after mending the valence on our bed that has been torn for about two years!

forgottenfreetime · 11/02/2007 21:22

Also congrats ruthie and big expectant oohs to qsack. When my waters broke before labour with ds at about 6am, I felt the first labour pains around 11pm that night and had delivered by 2am. So perhaps likely to happen soon!

Please stick around on the expecting thread everyone or andy, currantbun and myself will have noone to talk to later on in the month!

Alocin · 11/02/2007 21:31

I'm still here! 25th in the queue! Just back from seeing Music and Lyrics at the cinema = shockingly bad, dont bother!
