Congratulations bubblebell, another boy, now we need a few girls to even it out! at 10lb 1, bet you're glad you had a cs!

Poor you Leahsmum, I know what you mean about crappy midwives, I've seen 5 different ones now.

It's interesting hearing what care people in different areas get, I don't think I was seen for 10 days after having DD, maybe 4. Also I didn't go to postmaturity clinics or have any scans when I went 14 days overdue with DD1, there are so many things I hear about that we don't get here, perhaps the south west is as backward as everyone makes out!

ja9 · 08/02/2007 19:09

CONGRATULATIONS BUBBLE!!! Love the name Harvey - very very cute! That's two we've had news of today. Lovely isn't it?

Cadbury · 08/02/2007 19:46

Congratulations to Smudgemum/dad and to Bubblebell - lovely news. Hope you all recover quickly.

I had another sweep today - I wasn't much more dilated but was more anterior and 50% effaced (what does that mean?). I'm so tired of this now - I really wanted the baby to be born this week and it looks like it might drag on like this for days more! I just feel like crying all the time. I try not to get my hopes up everytime I get a tightening or feel pain.

All of this is really affecting the kids too - dd blew up at me with a major screaming sesion today and ds has barely talked to me for days. Dh is doing as much work from hom as he can but he really needs to get into the office - he's got a budget deficit to fix and it could be that he has to make himself redundant - he really needs to be able to concentrate on all that but instead he's stuck doing the school runs and hanging on my every wince.

Oh dear, I'm whining again. Sorry.

Tommy · 08/02/2007 19:53

congratulations to bubblebell and smudgemum! Can't believe so much has happened on a day when I haven't been here at all!

Saw MW this morning who reckons mine is more or less engaged now - she said she could "just" feel 1/5 of the head - so, who knows, this one might come early!

Sorry to hear of your crappy day cadbury - I had a big cry last week - just sat in the kitchen on my own and felt awful
Hopefully, things will start looking up soon - it's such a testing time isn't it?

TuttiFrutti · 08/02/2007 20:09

Congratulations Smudgemum and Bubblebell!

This will be my last post for some time, as we are off to the hospital for 8am tomorrow. Feeling quite nervous now and keeping all my fingers crossed...

Cadbury · 08/02/2007 20:11

All the best Tuttifrutti!

suzi2 · 08/02/2007 20:42

Fast moving today eh? Congrats to smudgemum and bubblebell

Good luck to those that are on their way

Big hugs to those that aren't on their way and want to be

Alocin - DS never engaged before labour. He got to 2/5th in IIRC and was OP to start with. I delivered him after a fairly lengthy labour (especially 2nd stage - though not sure what the normal legnth is!) with no stitches. He was 7lb 15oz but had a whopping 98th centile head circumeference. Also the lack of engaging meant that his head had not 'moulded' into a nice tapered shape. So pushing that bit out was tricky. BUT very possible. I would never have a concern about repeating his birth experience.

Gym balls - rock hips around. Try figure of 8 with hips.

Saw mw today. She was VERY excited that I had a show on Mon/Tues bless her! She reckons all the excitement with false labour was baby shuffling down and around a bit. She's now LOA (Yippee!), head is still totally free but she has moved down a wee bit and it's just sitting on my pelvis though not in at all. She said baby has a big head... and a fairly large body too. She's reckoning she's an 8 and a bit pounder just now so expects her to be 8.5 to 9lbs. Not huge which is good. She says she is rarely wrong lol. And the big head is obviously just like DS. Still measuring big, but compared to measuring massive a few weeks ago things have settled down and I'm not so far over now.

suzi2 · 08/02/2007 20:44

Can I ask if anyone else thinks that taking raspberry leaf is causing their BHs? I can't work out if it's conincidental but I seem to have false labour/regular BHs every night since I started on the RL tablets. I recall wondering if it was the same with DS. Though, of course, it could just be that I've got to this stage and it's nothing to do with the tablets.

MoosMa · 08/02/2007 20:49

Just to remind anyone who likes the raspberry leaf tea, I have some up for grabs if you want it?

MoosMa · 08/02/2007 20:49

And good luck TF, hope we hear good news soon!

marmitemad · 08/02/2007 21:01

Suzi2 - my BHs noticeably increased when I started taking the RL tablets/drinking the tea 3 weeks ago although they now appear to have completely stopped which is not the desired effect (although maybe I've just got used to them?)

hairycaterpillar · 08/02/2007 21:06

LOVELY LOVELY more babies! Congratulations Bubblebell and the Smudge's!

Tuttifrutti- all the best for tomorrow look forward to hearing your news!

Alocin- both my ds and dd didnt engage before I went into labour. Ds was also OP and yes his birth was long and hard but I wouldnt have swapped it for a section.

Well I had a show this evening (smallish but definate show). Pleased as hopefully body getting ready...however I know it could still be days...or weeks.

Looking forward to hearing of more babies soon...

suis · 08/02/2007 22:16

Lots of congratulations to Smudge and Bubblebell... and lots of happy feelings for Tutti for tomorrow...

For the rest of us... esp Cadbury, lots of sympathy and hugs... I've been having the weepies for a couple of days too... DP found me sobbing at 6 in the morning the other day and when I said I didn't know what was wrong with me he said "well just stop it then" and wandered off !

Saw the MW today, and LO is measuring for 41 weeks when I'm 39. DP is a broad 6ft3 but I'm only a wee person at 5ft2 and I've put on more than 4 stone while I've been pregnant and I'm terrified this is going to be a huge baby. I had planned on perinneal massage to try and help, but I simply can't reach ! DP looked queasy at the suggestion he might like to help. MW also found glucose in my sample so took blood to test which makes me wonder again about whether that might be making it so big. A friend of mine tore really badly when she had her DS and has needed subsequent surgery to try and correct things, so now I'm getting really apprehensive... also I am now booked in for a sweep next week when I'll be 40+3. Does that seem early for that ? Though I am sure if I am still waiting in another week I'll be about ready to try anything.

suis, sorry you're feeling so fragile.... fwiw i measured big all through last pg. measured 38 cm from 34 weeks. dh tall 6'3", i'm small 5'3" and i gave birth to a wee 6lb 11oz bub. ur body will copy with whatever it needs to. our bodies are amazing that way...

well i slept most of morning as ds had playdate. and have now just woken from sleeping all evening (ie since ds went down at 7 30)on the sofa!

ja9 · 08/02/2007 22:53

Cadbury · 09/02/2007 01:52

Big hands on hips and loud tutt t your dp suis - honestly!

Well, I was woken by contractions about an hour ago - they are still faairly tame but I think getting stronger and about 4 mins apart. Am now officially hoping that this is it. I feel sick too which is a good sign. Have left dh sleeping - he needs his rest bless him and he might as well while I can cope. Will hold off calling my midwife until these get stronger and have been going another hour I reckon - unless anything dramatic happens in the mean time. Coud be today!

suis · 09/02/2007 02:45

..got fingers crossed for you Cadbury... sounds like things are kicking off...

sorkycake · 09/02/2007 06:03

Morning girls!
Been up an hour so thought I'd see who's up as well, ah same crowd I see LOL.
Well done to Bubblebell, and good luck to Tuttifrutti!
Cadbury I think I want you to give birth before me, I'm plodding on having had my crying day done, I'm happily giving up any designated spot for you sweetie! x
Hope you all have a lovely day

ChaCha · 09/02/2007 06:29

Morning ladies and congratulations to all February mums Would be great if someone could update the stats - i'm sure i've missed some birth announcements!

I have my booking appointment later today and my elective c-section is now scheduled for next week. Is v.strange knowing what day (hopefully) baby will arrive but also very calming IYSWIM.

Hardly sleep at all now, just find myself nodding off on a chair during the day and get a few hours broken sleep during the night alternating between sofa and bed. Just feel 'all baby' at the moment and can't wait for its arrival now.

Any scheduled Valentine babies?

sallyn · 09/02/2007 07:06

Congratulations to Bubblebell and The Smudges - this is definitely the best and worst of times.

I had a sweep yesterday (40+5), which was uncomfortable but not really painful, but nothing has happened since, apart from some low-level irregular period pains. We're now throwing anything and everything at it... got an induction session with acupuncturist this morning, then another sweep planned for Monday, before they'll finally induce me on Friday at nearly 42 weeks. That will be the end of our homebirth dream (they won't let you go beyond 42 weeks for HB here (Brighton)).

DP is as tense as me, and awake as much. In fact night before last he was awake more than me! We've been up an hour and a half and already today and had breakfast.

COME ON!

Thinking of you all, and checking for news as often as poss. Well done girls who are posting so soon afterwards - very impressive!

hairycaterpillar · 09/02/2007 07:25

OOOO cadbury sounds like it's happening, really pleased for you.

sallyn and sorky- hope something works soon hang in there!

Nothing happening since my show yesterday evening oh well another day is another day closer to B-day!

I've been up for ages but have been very productive just done an online tesco shop...hoorah! More pineapple and curries!!

KatPoo · 09/02/2007 07:48

baby NOT here!!!!!
Had contractions on & off yday evening. Went bed, woke at 12.30 and were 5-7 mins appart /30 secs long. Got worse 4 mins / 45 secs, DH very nervous father and does not want to deliver so went hospital. All ok wiv baby / blood pressure. Contractions slowed at hospital. Midwife said I was 1-2cm dilated but heat still high / cervix only half way down / however could feel head. Suggested we went home and waited for developments. Have had tens machine on all night but rarely getting contractions now. . . . said to call at midday and due to waters having broken 30 hours ago I can have augmentation (think that is the term) which means they can speed things up. Going to bounce / rock on the old ball for a bit and see what happens.
Feel tired & just want itover and done with!!!

hairycaterpillar · 09/02/2007 08:00

Happy bouncing Katpoo hope it works and you get your lo soon.
