Lozza and mummy, good luck for your scans today!

ItsMagic Glad yours went well yesterday Smile
Yes the yoga teacher encouraged us to send a message to our babies, it was less "woo" than it sounds, and I actually found it quite powerful as it hadn't occurred to me to think of my baby as a living being inside me that I can communicate with, it's all been very abstract in my head. It was lovely to have the opportunity to acknowledge what's happening in my body at a physical/emotional level rather than obsessing on a practical level about which ante natal class to book, jobs around the house we need to do before the baby comes, name choices, etc!

Super Enjoy pregnancy Pilates tonight!

mummy good luck with your scan

Butterpuff · 31/08/2016 08:13

Good luck mummy. 😊

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. We should get the results of the blood tests by the end of the week so have overall risk rating. Will get an extra scan around 16 weeks to check the heart for defects and have been offered cvs or amniocentesis. So lots to think about lots of decisions.

NameChange30 · 31/08/2016 08:15

Butter Do check out ARC (if you haven't already come across them). They have lots of info on their website and a helpline too.

Best of luck for your scan Mummy!

charlybs · 31/08/2016 08:50

Good luck butter and mummy. I love being on honeymoon but also can't wait to get back to have a scan and book some yoga or Pilates. It sounds so lovely!!

Happygojo86 · 31/08/2016 09:00

I have my scan this afternoon. I'm seriously scared. However housework is keeping me occupied, only 6.5 hours to go, me and DD have been up since 5:45am so it feels much later than 9am.

I also just threw up all over my back door. I was trying to get outside but the door was locked Blush. I wasn't sick with DD until I was in labour so this feels especially unfair at 12+1

Mummytobe83 · 31/08/2016 09:05

Thank you everyone! Good luck to my scan buddies. We will all have a great experience. Fingest crossed. Xx

Clarity77 · 31/08/2016 09:27

11 weeks 2 days today, just weighed myself and I have put 4lbs on. This seems a lot given no alcohol and hardly any evening meals although I suppose more snacking and a sweet tooth have taken its toll.
I've also noticed stretch marks developing under my boobs. Talking of boobs I've been able to squeeze out some colostrum since 6 weeks but this seems to have stopped /dried up now. Hope that's not a bad sign.

Dustycorners · 31/08/2016 09:28

Good luck Lozza, Happy and Mummy with your scans. Glad yours went well, Magic.

I think I have food poisoning Sad Sad I had a bit of a bad tummy late yesterday afternoon and then since 2.30 this morning I've had repeated D&V. It has been truly awful, couldn't even keep water down. I still have really horrible cramps but have kept a few grapes down (so far), so hoping the vomiting at least might be ending.

I know they're probably fine but I can't stop worrying about the babies Sad

Butterpuff · 31/08/2016 09:41

Thanks name ill check out arc. The midwife mentioned it yesterday, but I haven't got on to looking at it yet

Happygojo86 · 31/08/2016 09:47

Clarity colostrum comes and goes throughout a pregnancy for some women. Some don't have any until after they give birth. I don't think it means anything x

neonrainbow · 31/08/2016 10:36

Good luck for your scans and Flowers for anyone feeling wretched.

I'm just waiting for my consultant appointment so hopefully see what their plan is from now.

Clarity77 · 31/08/2016 10:58

Thanks happy that's helpful.

Dusty- poor you. We don't need anything to make it harder.

charlybs · 31/08/2016 11:01

Dusty I had advice from my Dr before I went to Asia about D&V - she said just rehydrate and you'll be fine. Those sachets from boots if you can get them (dioralite or equivalent), and if not, a flat fizzy drink like coke and salty crisps are a good substitute for replacing your sugars and salts.

She seriously reassured me so I hope that makes you feel a bit better? Flowers

Cloeycat · 31/08/2016 11:27

I am slightly concerned (and I promise this is a concern not a humble brag) as I have been losing weight since I got pregnant. When I first went to the doctor (at 5 weeks) I was 80 kilos, since then I've not changed diet, haven't had morning sickness and have given up all exercise. Yet somehow when they weighed me at my scan on Thurs, and again in boots yday I am now 75kgs. Could there be something else going on that I am losing weight despite being at a stage where I should be putting it on?

Dozygirl · 31/08/2016 12:04

green so sorry for your loss.

butterpuff how worrying. That was one of the things that put me off having the nuchal scan because I've heard of getting worrying readings too often where everything is OK so I hope for you this is the case. I did opt for it this time but in the end she couldn't get the reading so I haven't been able to worry over things.

dusty I to have had d&v this week. It's been grim but also heard baby will be OK so haven't worried on that front. It has meant I've lost more weight so that's an added bonus as I have been trying to slowly lose weight with slimming world before it all starts piling on. Not really sure when baby weight will start being put on yet though.

Cloey I'm not really sure about weightloss when you've not been actively trying. I'm rubbish at working in kilos, more of a stone and pounds girl. Could possibly be that the scales at the doctors weren't tuned so to speak so they may have been a bit out. I wouldn't worry too much.

Happygojo86 · 31/08/2016 12:14

Weight wise, in an ideal world shouldn't gain until the 2nd trimester. Although that's easier said than done. Cloey even if you feel your eating habits haven't changed, your body has been very busy, plus if you have given up exercise that can actually cause weight loss due to muscle loss. I really wouldn't stress unless you get close to being underweight. I can't work in kilos either.

Remember baby gets everything at your detriment so even if you feel terrible, baby will be fine x

Dustycorners · 31/08/2016 12:47

Thank you Charly and Dozy. It just won't stop!

Butterpuff · 31/08/2016 13:16

From what the specialist said to us Dozy even if we were not having the screening they would have pointed out the NT measurement. Because while its part of the chromosome screening it can also be symptomatic of other problems which require more careful monitoring. Such as heart defects. So they mention that its raised and offer additional scans even if you choose not to have the blood test.

Lozza92 · 31/08/2016 13:27

The scan went well, little bean couldn't stop wiggling about so measurements were a bit hard to get but she got there in the endSmile

alphabook · 31/08/2016 13:33

Belated good luck for today's scans, congrats to those who have had their scans already.

Apparently the average weight gain in the first trimester is 1-5lb. I wouldn't worry too much about the weight loss, it's probably just dodgy scales!

ItsMagicYouKnow · 31/08/2016 15:09

Lovely scan pic Lozza!

Happy, know what you mean (12+1 here too). No backdoor vomiting incidents (poor you, bet that was nice to clean up...), but still queasy, especially if I don't sleep during the day, and my boobs have just started hurting! It's like they've decided to grow now I've had my scan and I've decided I can be properly pregnant!

Dusty sorry you're feeling poorly too, food poisoning is the pits. Don't worry about the twins though, they'll be fine, just make sure you're keeping your fluids up.

Cloey It does sound a little strange to lose 5 kg (I think in Metric so I know exactly what you mean!) if you haven't been ill. I only lost 2 when pregnant with DS and it's been 1 up 1 down this time. Both pregnancies have seen me go from hearty meals and snacks to just snacks and half meals - last night was a packet of Hula Hoops and some Orangina, thanks to scan excitement stopping me from sleeping properly! Perhaps mention it at your next appointment? Have you ever had any thyroid issues?

But then again, as everyone else has said, different scales plus a loss of a couple of kilos for baby growing (and different clothing) could add up to 5. Have you tried the same scales you weighed in at 80 on yet?

neonrainbow · 31/08/2016 15:50

The consultant said today I'll be having scans every 4 weeks from 20 weeks and will be seeing either my midwife and consultant alternately every two weeks. Good job my work is quite easy going about stuff like this! She also wrote down "aim to give birth vaginally" right after i just told her i want to err towards a section regardless of what position the babies are in. I'll pick up the discussion with them again somewhere around 28 weeks.

Dozygirl · 31/08/2016 15:57

butter that's interesting seeing as my sonographer didn't even try very hard to get the measurement even though I'd requested it this time and wont be trying again and with dd I said I didn't want it so they didn't do it to my knowledge but perhaps they did but as it was fine they didn't mention it. Who knows. I still need to Google what the difference is between the tests at 12 weeks and the tests at 16 weeks.
