I agree with every about Facebook I never realised how heart breaking it is to see a I'm pregnant post until we were tcc and it wasn't working. My symptom are coming and going and it's making me paranoid think I'm a little bit scared of losing it when waited what seems like forever for it to happen

CastleFeck · 28/08/2016 08:16

We've got an early scan next week (Ivf) so tempted to tell if everything's ok. I think people are already suspicious of my 'virus'.

Has anyone found a solution to the nausea/sickness? What are you eating. All these beige carbs aren't helping. I think I need protein, but I don't want to prepare any real food.

Puggleface · 28/08/2016 08:28

Hello to all the newbies! This bus is getting pretty busy now!
Also, excellent news for scans with little blobs and heartbeats 😊
I've finally got some nausea here at 7+2! I every dry heaved last night!
I've only told 2 close friends DP hasn't told anyone. I did a sweet Facebook announcement with my last pregnancy at 20 weeks after our scan then but as things didn't work out last time nothing we will be touching Facebook about this pregnancy until I (hopefully) have a happy healthy baby in my arms at home! Also it's taken us 6 months to conceive this one. Not as long as most I know, but has opened my eyes to a struggle I never thought I'd have!
I have a cousin who I don't actually talk to who is infertile after cancer treatment and has desperately been seeking a surrogate for a long time and in my last pregnancy I sent her a lovely card, explaining I was pregnant wishing her the best and that I hoped she found a surrogate soon. I didn't hear from her but her parents thanked me for thinking of her.
We have a scan booked for Friday when I should be 8 weeks so keeping my fingers crossed for that!!

Bubbinsmakesthree · 28/08/2016 08:33

After last time I did seriously think about opting out of the nuchal scan this time but ultimately I think I want to know. We are really lucky that the hospital where we have our scans has an amazing fetal research centre so the staff are fantastic and they provide the non-invasive Harmony test on the NHS.

We didn't post anything on Facebook until DS was a month old - there were quite a few Shock responses! Close friends and family knew of course, as did anyone who had seen me waddling around with a bump!

I find food smells really difficult Castle so I'm not enjoying preparing food. Stuff I can just stuff in the oven with minimal prep or quick stir fries are the order of the day here. I need to start getting DH on cooking duty.

MumiTravels · 28/08/2016 08:41

Just me and the boy today. Not sure what to do for the day really. I hate bank holiday weekends. The weathers looking very on edge too so not even like we can do the park.

JennyOfOldstones · 28/08/2016 09:12

We won't tell people until after the scan but my boss at work knows after I ran out on Friday which is not how I wanted it. I know it will change which opportunities come my way now, sad as that is. My hospital offers the Harmony test now so I will def do that if it isn't too expensive.

Strubo · 28/08/2016 09:21

Woke up with some pain last night and had some bright red blood when I wiped this morning. I've phoned EPAU and they're calling me back but I doubt they will scan as I had one yesterday.

Only told the kids yesterday, feeling pretty upset just now.

Puggleface · 28/08/2016 09:28

Hope your ok strubo and EPU get back to you quickly!

RaRa25 · 28/08/2016 09:51

sturbo hope your ok and fingers crossed. Xx

Celen · 28/08/2016 10:09

Oh Strubo you must be so worried Sad Does EPU know you had a scan or was it private? I wouldn't tell them personally.

CastleFeck I find fizzy water, coke, lemon sherbets all help temporarily. And salty crisps.

Fingers crossed for you strubo. Flowers

Castlefeck -* books always say protein rich foods are meant to help with nausea but I find them too hard to stomach. Savoury, salty, fatty, carby seems to be what I crave for sickness, much like with a hangover!

Strubo · 28/08/2016 10:17

I told them I'd had a scan which in hindsight maybe I shouldn't have but they are seeing me tomorrow at 3 anyway. I'm feeling a bit achy now but I'm not sure if it's different or not. Keep saying that I'm sure it's fine but also keep crying.

ChatEnOeuf · 28/08/2016 11:22

Hopefully nothing to worry about, Strubo. Was it a dildocam yesterday? I find they irritate my cervix which then bleeds...

Congrats Celen - must be a relief to get over that first hurdle.

I agree, letting those you know are struggling first before any bigger announcements is kindest. I'll be honest, it doesn't really matter how they come, all pregnancy announcements hurt like hell. The worst was a newborn pic of a family member, though. I didn't know his wife was pregnant, and that shock was worse.

That said, there will be a FB announcement from us. We has so much support both virtually and in real life following our stillbirth last year, there's a lot of people rooting for our rainbow. I feel right in telling them, and I don't live in the same country as so many of them!

Bubbins I need to know more of this cocktail... I'm merrily enjoying alcohol free Koppaberg. Best beers I've found are Bitburger Drive and Nanny State. Wine isn't even worth the effort. I've been rumbled by a couple of friends and my PiL, the former will respect our privacy, my MiL is lovely and is one of those I'd turn to if it all went wrong. Told my boss, in case I mess up the rota by being off for a couple of weeks again. If all looks good at 9w I may tell other family members.

MyGreenSofa · 28/08/2016 11:23

I would think the fact you had a positive scan yesterday is a good indicator? fingers crossed for you!

Strubo · 28/08/2016 11:28

No chat it was abdominal as she doesn't have a TV probe yet. Have just had a massive sob on DH, but need to woman up and get on with it. It was one tiny bit, nothing since, need to stay positive.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 28/08/2016 12:57

strubo, I hope all is well. Good they are seeing you soon. As mygreensofa says the fact everything looked good on your scan yesterday is a very positive sign.

MumiTravels · 28/08/2016 15:24

Best of luck Strubo for tomorrow.

My DS has gone out mith MIL for a few hours. I thought I may wash the floors or do some washing.

i may just have a nap

hummingbird100 · 28/08/2016 15:41

Fingers crossed strubo

Anyone else felt chilly in early pregnancy? It's damp and wet where I am today but it's not that bad temperature-wise, but I can't get warm! I'm about 6 weeks along...

IrnBrufan · 28/08/2016 15:52

hummingbird I'm freezing all the time!!! Actually considering putting my housecoat in BrewSad

LuchiMangsho · 28/08/2016 15:54

Fingers crossed Strubo. Today I have thrown up at multiple places in London. That will teach me to complain about a lack of symptoms.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 28/08/2016 16:14

I feel really cold too! So shattered and sick today - DH has taken DS out to the shops and am tempted to get a nap in too!

hummingbird100 · 28/08/2016 16:52

irnbru and bubbins I've actually got myself a hot water bottle and feel loads more comfortable! I've also got a real hankering for hot chocolate with squirty cream and mini marshmallows BrewBrewBrew

naranciata · 28/08/2016 17:33

I'm cold today too. Fluffy socks on and I'm watching the West Wing under a blanket.

I'm having baked Camembert for dinner and am unbelievably excited.

MrsRhubarb · 28/08/2016 17:36

Yesterday my stomach very really bloated and tender all day. No cramps or anything, but it was so uncomfortable and I've never had anything like it. Spent the day feeling sorry for myself and DH took DD out so I could try and sleep it off. Feeling improved today so joined them in visiting massive adventure playground at a National Trust place not too far away. Worn out just watching DD, and have a few new grey hairs as she was easily the tiniest person on some of the huge playthings. Fearless.

Hope everything's okay Strubo

I have told DD who is nearly three. She has taken it so well, and is fascinated with my pregnancy book. She really likes the page that shows a lady having her scan so I've explained all about that and a couple of days ago we were looking at early scans on YouTube so I could say that's what out baby looks like. I've explained to her that if a baby comes out of a mummy's tummy too soon then it would be very poorly, and she was understanding of that. I think she would pick up on me talking about it to DH anyway, and this way she can share in all the excitement.

jpeg28 · 28/08/2016 17:56

Good luck for tomorrow Strubo I'm sure everything is ok.

naranciata I am so jealous of your Camembert!!!

I've been incredibly lazy today, all I've done (besides sit on sofa) is clean kitchen and mopped some floors. I don't feel sick at all today which is worrying me and boobs not as sore, guessing hormones just go up and down. Just feel so deflated and lacking in energy.

Hope everyone is ok Flowers
