Oh Abacha, knowing your history I'm so very pleased for you!! That's amazing news Smile

I know of someone who had twins and I recall her saying a high protein diet was quite important when carrying twins. However, hopefully your MW will be able to advise better than myself!

Abacha · 24/08/2016 15:07

thanks, it's a long road ahead but I'm willing myself to enjoy every moment.

Thanks, I've heard of high protein as well as loads of water, being cruciaI. I stumbled across an American blog and apparently those pregnant with twins are advised to eat 3500 calories per day Hmm I don't think I can consume that much even if I wanted to.

NHS are more conservative. I have my booking in appointment on 10th September so looking forward to hearing what they say

choccybiscuit · 24/08/2016 15:20

abacha amazing news!

ScandiManny · 24/08/2016 15:21

Wow, congratulations Abacha

That's so lovely Monkey Smile

Great news Choccy

Midwife rang after my last post and moved appt to 1:30. Bit of a mixed bag really. Got all the paperwork but couldn't do bloods (crap veins!) so have to go to the phlebotomist. I was told I'm 'low risk' and that despite going into labour at 32 weeks with DC2 I won't have any additional monitoring during this pregnancy. Apparently this is because I went into labour spontaneously with no reason so there's nothing to monitor Hmm During my pg I told them I was losing my plug for weeks before I went into labour and was completely dismissed every time, even when I arrived at hospital in labour the consultant rolled his eyes and wasn't even going examine me. I mean it's good to be low risk obviously but I just don't feel very reassured considering what we went through last time Sad

gemsbok · 24/08/2016 16:04

Wow! Congratulations Abacha.

jpeg28 · 24/08/2016 16:17

Amazing news abacha!!

I've really struggled with nausea today. Seemed to be at its worst between 10 and 2.... I was in the at driving the whole time and I just wanted to be sick but also didn't need to!!

It's so hot!!!

Celen · 24/08/2016 16:24

Does the heat seem to make your nausea worst jpeg?

OP posts:
Celen · 24/08/2016 16:26

Maybe you could get pushy with closer monitoring a bit further down the line Scandi?

OP posts:
jpeg28 · 24/08/2016 16:29

Maybe it is celen... I've been outside for two days in the heat with no shade at the campsite! Home now and just had a lovely nap on the sofa Smile. I cannot imagine going back to school in a couple of weeks!!

TopKittyKat · 24/08/2016 16:35

Great news abacha

Glad to hear all is ok Choccy (makes me feel less panicky too).

Celen - I'm struggling in the heat too. My heart goes out to anyone in their third trimester in this heat!

I'm currently sat at home in just my undies having had an ice lolly - it helped for all of about 10 seconds.

marmitecheesetoast · 24/08/2016 16:45

Wow exciting news Abacha!

So sorry Otter thinking of you Flowers

I've found the heat made me feel more nauseous and headachey today too. Have had an interesting day at work after our building had an emergency evacuation due to a serious electrical fault! Hmm had to work camped out in a different office on the worlds worst computer chair and my back is really sore and crampy now Sad I'm going to work from home tomorrow though which means I can have a lie-in. Yay, more sleep! Grin

Celen · 24/08/2016 16:56

I'm so Envy of those getting extra sleep and great sex! I'm a total insomniac at the moment and the last thing I'm wanting at the moment is jigginess for fear of vomming on DH I'm welcoming the break to be honest after two years TTC

ChatEnOeuf · 24/08/2016 17:28

Wow, Abacha! Exciting/frightening in equal measure I guess.

Heat (well, not drinking enough) makes my nausea worse too.

Scandi that's...interesting...I'd be keen for some increased monitoring too. I'm at risk of preterm labour and will be having Cx length scan at 20w and I've been told if I get a hint of early labour, that I'm to hot-foot it to labour ward. I also labour quickly, so there's no arguements from me there!

I've stuffed myself today, utterly starving. Never had cravings as such, but this afternoon I really, really wanted a lovely carbonara. Had to settle for one of those pour-over jobbies but it tasted so good. After lunch and two breakfasts, as well as a snack I feel a bit of a pig.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 24/08/2016 17:34

Twins abacha how amazing! Smile

I am panicking about chickenpox now even though I know I am probably immune, mainly because my poor childminder (who DS caught chickenpox from) caught it despite having had it before - and she is pregnant as well! Hopefully will get the test results tomorrow!

cantmakeme · 24/08/2016 18:10

Anyone else kind of... depressed? It's silly, I feel so lucky that this one isn't ectopic, and I remember how lovely it is having a new baby. I just feel so low with all the nausea and bloating. Maybe it's because early pregnancy feels like one big long PMT session with sickness and exhaustion thrown in...

Please don't think me ungrateful, I know in my normal, rational mind how lucky I am.

cantmakeme · 24/08/2016 18:12

Plus I have officially "gone off" just about every food, drink and smell known to mankind but am completely starving Angry

Bellatrixandstrange · 24/08/2016 18:14

cant I'm struggling too. I think it's the throwing up 6 times a day, not sleeping, having no energy to do anything fun and having to hide it from everyone I know! I think we can be forgiven for being a bit down.

BertieBotts · 24/08/2016 18:24

I felt a bit down this morning but had cheered up by the afternoon. Don't worry about moaning! It's what the thread is here for :)

Wow Abacha, super exciting news! :)

MyGreenSofa · 24/08/2016 18:28

Congrats abacha, great news! And you've got plenty of time for it to sink in!

Chat - I've been craving carbonara for days but because of all the other use by dates in my fridge I can't have it til tmrw! DH makes a good one - can't wait!

MumiTravels · 24/08/2016 18:52

You all sound like a wet weekend today Grin Sorry you are feeling so crappy. Get a nice piece of cake and a hot chocolate down you or have a good shag, it's what got you in this mess in the first place Wink

As for the 3500 calories, pasta and pesto with full fat cheese, lasagne and chips, sausage and mash. Full fat greek yogurt with honey. Granola and trail mix. Advocados until your hearts content. 3500 calories easy Grin..

I'm still symptomless unfortunately Sad. Wolfed down my pasta and pesto and just thought go on, give me a bit of nausea but nope.

sarahhh1984 · 24/08/2016 19:44

Sorry everyone's sounding so down. My spotting has got quite a bit heavier this evening. I called my EPAU and spoke to a lovely lady who was very reassuring. Said it was probably nothing to worry about as long as the blood was brown but she understood that in a first pregnancy in particular this could be very worrying.

She's booked me in for an early scan next week when I'll be just over 6w so hopefully everything will be OK. But if it's not at least I'll know early on. Fx it will all be fine though.

DH is being brilliant. Don't know what I'd do without him.

StillaChocoholic · 24/08/2016 19:48

I'm with you cantmakeme, just laid in bed thinking I'm chuffed that I'm pregnant but I feel shit.
The house is a mess, I have no energy to do anything, I'm looking after a nearly 2 year old this week who wakes up several times in the night and my 3 year old won't go to sleep at bedtime. I can't wait for this week to be over!

Abacha wow congratulations! Hope you're not feeling too rough growing two babies :)

jpeg28 · 24/08/2016 19:58

sarah that's great you have been booked in for an early scan. Fingers x for you but I'm sure everything is ok!

I had a really healthy chicken salad tonight.... Followed by a bowl of Ben and Jerry's! I need to sort my diet out asap! I'm already half a stone (if not more!) overweight and I'm so frightened of getting huge!!

Sorry to everyone feeling rough, I think the symptoms are starting to hit me now...

Number4OnTheWay · 24/08/2016 19:59

Congratulations Abacha!!!
People need to stop talking about food!!! I really want some carbonara with some grilled chicken now Hmm I'm blaming all of you!!

Mumi if you wanted to get lost for a few days ( Blush I've been reading and got so behind with this thread because I needed to finish it!) Take a look at the penetrate thread in classics, its hilarious and unputdownable!! Grin

Number4OnTheWay · 24/08/2016 20:01

Oh and totally agree. Sex in early pregnancy is amazing!! Dh and I got down and dirty last night, best sex we've had in a long time!!! Grin
