No movements here yet but I'm only 14+2, and it's my first.

Has anyone else got really dry skin and hair? Where's this sodding pregnancy glow people talk about?! Sad

divadee · 15/08/2016 09:19

shell yes!!! I'm so glad you are as well!! I have been making myself worried sick thinking it was cervix shortening!!! I think in reality it's a bit of constipation and maybe *ahem sex.

fenalla I feel cheated as well. I have dry hair and its fall in out more than usual!!! Gahhhhhh. I want a blooming stage!!

Shellbell0403 · 15/08/2016 09:27

diva i think you maybe right... the second part I mean not the cervix part xx

kikisdelivery · 15/08/2016 09:56

No movements for me yet, I'm 14+4 though and it's my first so I'm not expecting much yet, though hoping of course! I'd like to feel stuff happening to make it feel a bit more real - mainly because I do feel like I've got a bit more energy and slightly less sickness. I still have days where I'm off certain foods or certain smells make me feel funny, but not as bad as the earlier stages.

So I'm like, come on baby! Make your presence known a bit more with some flutters!

Shellbell0403 · 15/08/2016 10:01

kiki do you have a bump?

Wonderlust123 · 15/08/2016 10:04

Hi all,
I hope everyone had a good weekend!
Cramps..not really, just stretching pains when I move suddenly.
No glow or bump here still!
Mussels...have been eating them. Am usually a massive seafood fan, but gone completely off other things, like prawns. Usually had sushi once a week, and not even missing that.
One more week of freedom then back to work. Was thinking about getting back into a gym routine (I was going a couple of days a week at least before the school hols). Someone here mentioned maternity gym trousers, did you manage to find any? Also, I assume the running machine would be a no-go (usually I just did 40 mins on that). Would other machines be okay?
Also, would it be a bit foolish to think of leaving buying bigger items (like a cot bed, pram etc) until the January sales? Do places like Mothercare have sales on those items?

SausageDogGeorge · 15/08/2016 10:05

Just marking my place Smile - haven't been on for ages as busy with work and children! I'm now 15+1 with DC number 3 so i'm showing quite a bit already - my maternity jeans are both Topshop and they are great, love them - still mostly in all my normal clothes though apart from those - got a couple of vest tops from Isabella Oliver (although bought from Ebay for a bargain price!) and they are fab - loads of stretch, nice & long, and built in support.

Sounds like everyone is doing well - can't believe we're coming up to half way through!! Where does time go?! Shock

kikisdelivery · 15/08/2016 10:13

shell, not really, not yet! It could definitely be considered flab if you saw me in the street and didn't know I was pregnant, grrr! I want a bump to show, but like you said last page, I'm just more ... round at the moment, and nothing bumpy shows yet if I lie flat either!

I commented to the OH this morning that my skirt felt a little tighter (I'm not in maternity stuff yet either - but I am quite tall and normally reasonably curvy anyway - usually size 16 - , so I hear it often takes taller/curvier women longer to "pop", bump-wise) and he said "Oh you probably need a poo" !!! Charming!!

Also like you, I've had a few cramps still - travelling round my uterus/pelvis and sometimes down my butt. Delightful!

LondonGirl83 · 15/08/2016 10:34

wonder. I e read on what to expect if you ran prepregnancy it's safe to continue to do so including on a treadmill.

I'd also like to get back to the gym now that I am starting to feel better. I used to go 4-5 times a week and can feel my fitness levels plummeting! The sickness was just too much though the last month or so.

Summerflake · 15/08/2016 10:43

Wow. This bus moves fast!!!

I've been feeling little movements occasionally, looking forward to proper big kicks. I also have a doppler and as well as the baby's heart we can hear it swooshing about and kicking. Very cool.

Is everyone finding out if they are having a boy or a girl? We are planning to just keep it as a surprise but think we must be in the minority doing this.

kikisdelivery · 15/08/2016 10:50

Oooh London, I'm glad you mentioned fitness, I meant to ask you all what sort of exercise everyone's been doing / feeling up to?

I really miss sports - I used to train with my local roller derby league (I wasn't on our bouting team as I was still going through my skill levels, but I was doing contact stuff like hitting etc) but I stopped as soon as we had the 12 week scan. I also used to do a circuit training class a couple of times a week, but again I stopped that because I just was so tired/sick feeling.

The only thing I'm doing right now is cycle-commuting on weekdays. I have a 9 mile round trip a day which I still enjoy, because I can take it at my own pace if I'm particularly knackered. But I'd like to add some other stuff back into the mix now I'm feeling a bit more energetic. I've eyed up stuff like pilates / yoga but I don't know if I'd find them too boring. Hmmm!

ScottishSnowflake · 15/08/2016 11:29

Hi wonder, I'm still running on the treadmill at the gym - realised I needed a better gym bra though (never had that issue before Blush)

topmammy · 15/08/2016 11:31

Had my scan this morning!! I was so nervous but everything is looking good. What a relief! Grin Very happy now. Baby wasn't as wiggly as my DD so I wonder if this one is a boy, haha!

Sky I mentioned I'd felt a bit dizzy recently. It's usually to do with low blood pressure as being pregnant naturally lowers it anyway, plus warm weather causes blood vessels to dilate more which adds to it as well. Best thing to do is get up slowly, no sudden movements and drink lots of water and of course eat small and regular meals.

I'm definitely finding out the sex of this baby. Must be the teacher in me but I need to plan!

GinIsIn · 15/08/2016 11:42

Another one who needs to plan so will definitely be finding out! DH wants a girl, I don't think I mind but have a feeling it is a girl....

SpinALittleFaster · 15/08/2016 12:02

Congrats top!

summer we will definitely be finding out. I'm a planner and just couldn't not know. I can't imagine spending ages trying to agree on a name that we wouldn't use in the end.

Dreamingoutloud7 · 15/08/2016 12:09

summer we are finding out, I'm a planner and it's already annoying me that there's certain bits that will have to wait until we know!

fenella my skin is soooo dry, especially my arms and legs. And my hair is breaking more than normal, not cool

GinIsIn · 15/08/2016 12:19

Have just ordered fancy shampoo and conditioner and am on my way to get the strongest moisturiser I can find!

GGNewMum · 15/08/2016 12:23

Hello! Just joining this thread to say hi to all the others due in Feb.
((Waves))
I've been too nervous to even sign up for Mumsnet until the first trimester was done. (first-time prone-to-paranoia mum-to-be can you tell?) 13+3 now and have already been in mat clothes for a couple of weeks since I just couldn't fit into my jeans!

Wonderlust123 · 15/08/2016 12:24

LondonGirl and ScottishSnowflake, thanks for your comments. Was worried because I haven't really done any exercise for the last couple of months, but will give it a go, and just try not to push myself as much as I would before.

Summer, my O.H. doesn't want to know, but I do! (Similar to above comments about being a planner). I'm going to find out shortly after the 20 week scan (you have to go private to find out here), and try to keep it quiet!

MrsM2016 · 15/08/2016 12:27

Hi ladies, found you :) xx

Witch91 · 15/08/2016 12:30

Hi Ladies, marking my place on the new thread.

I'm 15+2 today, and have been in maternity trousers for a couple of weeks. I think I have a small bump, but it does mostly look like fat. I've been having a strange twinge to the right of my belly button but Dr Google seemed to say this was normal.

I went to a proper independent bra shop on Friday and had a bra fitting. I am 5 cup sizes bigger then my pre-pregnancy bras Shock although she did say I was probably not wearing the right size before. My bra is now definitely much more comfortable, and it has made a huge difference to my shape, so I would definitely recommend it.

Summerflake · 15/08/2016 12:34

Weirdly I'm a planner as well. Down to the last detail but for some reason I like the surprise element of being a boy or a girl. For me it didn't make much difference to my plans, we had 2 girls names and 2 boys names last time. Nursery was painted neutral coloured and I prefer newborns in white anyway so didn't need to worry about clothes! Plus shops are open pretty much 24/7 so it was easy to get little pink things once DD was here.

The only thing that is changing my mind slightly is it might be easier to explain to DD if she is getting a brother or a sister. Will decide by the 20 week scan I think.

divadee · 15/08/2016 12:49

Is it only me who spends hours faffin around getting nothing done as I haven't got the energy? We move in 2 weeks time. I haven't even started packing. I have furniture that needs to be sold and I haven't even taken photos let alone listed it online. I just seem to spend hours doing nothing.

Shellbell0403 · 15/08/2016 12:55

Diva I'm still in bed, in my pjs! Just about to get ready though.... Attempting to try and go back to work tomorrow

divadee · 15/08/2016 12:58

Oh thank god shell. I have only just got showered and dressed. Just feeling like a right lazy arse as I literally have so much to do. No inclination to do any of it though!
