Wow, not just me then. I'm 8+1 and phoned up GP surgery twice to be put on the list for midwife to call for booking in app. Was given two sets of different information from reception. Midwife called last week to say she'd sent me an appointment In the post, luckily I hadn't missed it but definitely hadn't received anything. Sounds like you have to be on the ball with this!

MrsMushrooms · 10/08/2016 12:54

So strange how different it is in different places! Here you don't see your GP at all, you just call the midwife booking office directly as soon as you find out, and you get your booking appt and scan booked at the same time

Butterpuff · 10/08/2016 13:23

Love all the size descriptions, may I ask where you are finding them please?

I want to know what I'm growing at the moment. Smile

alphabook · 10/08/2016 13:39

Butter I have 2 apps, Ovia and Pregnancy+. I think Pregnancy+ is better overall but Ovia is the one with the fun "baby is as big as a..." descriptions!

AngelBlue12 · 10/08/2016 13:39

Just called the docs - I have to have a booking appointment with a HCA before I can have a booking appointment with the MW it was funny when the receptionist said and this is baby? I said 6, there was silence and then she repeated the question haha!

SuperDuperJezebel · 10/08/2016 13:40

I use the Ovia app which tells you. My baby is apparently "the size of a tart kumquat, but way less sassy"!

Butterpuff · 10/08/2016 14:15

Thanks!

I'll have to go app hunting, though I don't actually know how far along I am until my scan on the 30th, so it may not help me out that much Grin

NameChange30 · 10/08/2016 14:19

I have Ovia too (another tart kumquat here but due to upgrade tomorrow!). Butter you can just put in the first day of your last menstrual period (if you know it) and the app works it all out for you. You can obviously update the due date when you've had your scan.

I also have Pregnancy+ and the images are quite cool but they freak me out a bit!

Trouble is name that by LMP I'm 9 weeks today, but I have a cycle of 34+ days which would make it more like 8 weeks, but if I were 8 weeks then its probably immaculate conception (or some seriously hardy swimmers) as DH and I didn't go near each other in what I thought would be my fertile window (making me very cross at a lost opportunity) So until the scan comes through I'm guessing! Either I was fertilized by OAP sperm and I'm 8 weeks or I ovulated abnormally early and I'm 9 weeks. I wont be trusting any dates until I've had that scan.

SecretScaryFriend · 10/08/2016 15:16

Marking my place.

Happy 1/4 to meee! 10 weeks in, 30 to go.

Carolann8584 · 10/08/2016 16:27

I use Ovia as well Grin

NameChange30 · 10/08/2016 17:16

Butter Fair enough! I expect the midwife/doctor will just be going by your LMP date for now. That's what mine did even though I've estimated my EDD slightly differently based on my cycles. It'll be interesting to see how much it changes at the dating scan!

Hi all!
I'm 8+1 week
Due 21st March

Had a miscarriage in May at 8+1 so today's been nervy for me!

charlybs · 10/08/2016 18:02

I use the ovia app as well. Just downloaded pregnancy plus but I think the pictures are a bit freaky!

NameChange30 · 10/08/2016 18:03

Exactly what I said charly!

MrsMushrooms · 10/08/2016 18:08

Oh, what a scary day, Unicorn! Best of luck for 8+2 and way beyond!!

Butter, I think I managed to get upduffed with OAP sperm! We made sure to get at it during (what I thought was) my fertile window and as we were tracking with Ovia I know exactly when we had sex. We went for a reassurance scan at what would have been 8+1 (history of recurrent miscarriage so wanted to check!) according to my last period, but baby measured at 7+2 so we must have conceived 5 days after having sex - must have been some hardy swimmers!!

purplesmiler · 10/08/2016 18:29

Feeling a bit crappy. Told my new boss today and although she seemed ok about it she explained she had to tell the senior manager and as I left today I just felt they were talking about me so had to get out of there. I work in the front line public sector so they needed to know but it was made harder as it's a new team and the manager kept saying how pleased she is to have team stability after a difficult year and I then tell her my situation. It was a big career move for me and I explained that I am fully committed up until and following maternity leave . The pregnancy was a total shock we have our wedding booked and having to change that as it was very close to my EDD. We are happy it's a blessing but I feel so guilty after today. I've got visions of being moved about at work or not passing my probation period due to my circumstances I know I sound crazy.

ItsMagicYouKnow · 10/08/2016 18:40

Butter and MrsMushrooms More likely to be girls then Wink

Unicorn Flowers

I quite like the pictures in Pregnancy+ but not OH. I find the whole process utterly fascinating Smile Ovia is good though with its daily updates, I like to know what Solstice (bean) is up to every day!

MonkeyPoozzled76 · 10/08/2016 18:41

Hello all, third thread already blimey!

So I'm 9+3 today and have absolutely freaked myself out. All my symptoms have vanished over the last few days. I've been lucky over the last few weeks, just tired, sore boobs and mild all day nausea, so not dibilitating but comforting IYKWIM.

Since Saturday all the nausea and sore boobs has gone! I'm still bloated with a noticeable bump but feel very un-pregnant.

I have a scan a week today but am tying myself into knots....anyone else feeling the same? Confused

MrsMushrooms · 10/08/2016 18:42

Magic haha, is that right? My mum's convinced we're having a girl and there will be no living with her if she's right!

ItsMagicYouKnow · 10/08/2016 18:46

Welcome Leanne! How are you feeling?

Sorry, cross-posted purple sorry you've had a rough day at work. Have a chat with your line manager perhaps to see how things stand?

ItsMagicYouKnow · 10/08/2016 19:01

MrsMushrooms, yes, XX sperm are hardier apparently. It's part of the Shettles method. Means I'm possibly having another boy Grin

Monkey my symptoms disappeared on Monday for about 12 hours (9+1 today), but they're back now and saw baby this morning Smile

neonrainbow · 10/08/2016 19:17

Monkey im exactly the same! Its not just you!

ItsMagicYouKnow · 10/08/2016 19:24

Wish I'd asked the obs-gyn today whether it's normal to get tightnings at this stage. Thought it was a one-off but I'm getting them again this evening. Anyone else?

Dustycorners · 10/08/2016 19:44

Magic I had tightenings last week but only once.

Purple it's really tricky. I emailed my line manager to tell her today (working from home). I wanted to wait until I've had a scan, but I found out my colleague is also pregnant and due a month before me. I'm on a six month probation period until October and so have only been in this job 4 months Blush I decided I should tell her now as she is planning budgets and as she's just been told about my colleague, it will help her if she knows about me too. Plus, no way I can hide it until October and I need some flexible working arrangements right now to help me cope with the nausea/sickness.

It's all a bit awkward Confused It's horrible feeling embarrassed about something you're also really happy about.
