Oh Daisy thanks, my friend works for Selfridges, I might ask her if she can pop down into the store and grab me one!

Carolann8584 · 03/08/2016 08:19

smiles I had horrendous cramps from 4-7 weeks then stopped, they made way for nausea lol

Feel like I'm so behind as I don't have a scan date, I have my first app with MW 17/8 by then I will be 9w+4

Just had a brilliant night with OH, he took me for an overnight stay in Bradford not very glamorous but it was so we could see Wicked! Loved it, second time I've seen it. Was amazing no nausea all night either Grin x

Gardencentregroupie · 03/08/2016 08:40

I phoned up to check they'd got my referral so I know my scan is on 31st August, but still don't have a midwife appointment.

Dozygirl · 03/08/2016 09:06

Thinking of you today cho and anyone else with worries 😀

charlybs · 03/08/2016 09:12

I've just talked to my local nurse at my surgery who has referred me for an early scan. Now need to wait to hear from the hospital about an appt - she said it is usually within a few days at the most.

Dustycorners · 03/08/2016 09:14

Hello ladies, just checking in as I haven't posted for ages - been away and also feeling so sick that I just sleep in the evenings after getting home from work and putting DS to bed.

So sorry for those having bleeding, worrying scans and other issues. I really hope you all get some reassurance and good news. It's such an anxious time and awful when all you can do is wait Flowers

I have my booking appt next Monday, and hoping I will get a scan date then. I had so many early scans with DS and my mmc pregnancy before that, that it feels so strange not to have had any this time - I just can't believe there is a live one in there.

I have absolutely awful, 24 hr nausea though, and am being sick as well, which I wasn't in my last two pregnancies. It's getting really debilitating and making me feel quite down. I've just ordered some travel sickness bands to see if they help. If not, I'll have to see my GP, but not sure I will be given anything as I'm only being sick once a day. It's the nausea that's worse. Ugh. Sympathy to all those also going through this - it lasted until I was 20 weeks with my DS and I just don't think I can cope that long this time, especially as driving home from work is becoming scary when I constantly feel like I might vom Sad

My stats:
Name: Dustycorners
Age: 35
EDD: 9 March
DC2 (DS = 15 months)
I'm in the Herts/Beds area

Currently 8+6 and have a massive, bloated tummy. I look waaaaay more pregnant than I am! Blush

Rosey135 · 03/08/2016 09:17

Carolann I don't have a scan date yet either, my midwife appointment is 12th August and she said they would book my scan then. I have already got my prgnancy notes from the hospital to start filling the bits in I can do myself so the appointment doesn't drag too long.

My nausea seems to have subsided a bit this week feeling lots of pulling and tightening going on and my boobs are so sore and horrible constipation. Been feeling so tired and finding work pretty tough all day on my feet.

Congrats to all new members and positive thoughts for all those going through uncertain times!

5tardusty · 03/08/2016 10:27

Morning all. 6+4 today. Dr rang me yesterday to say that I had a scan on 19th when i will be 8+6. Fingers crossed i will make it until then and there might, just might be a baby in there.

Getting regular heartburn/ rising acid this week which is unusual for me so i'm thinking that it might be a symptom. Not leaving the house without my Rennies! Also breaking out a bit on my face. Delightful!

Thinking of all those feeling unsure. It's the worst feeling in the world.

ItsMagicYouKnow · 03/08/2016 10:53

Morning all!

Cho best of luck with the scan, charly hope you get seen too.

Welcome newcomers!

Sorry for anyone feeling worse than me in the nausea/sickness states, quite a lot of you by the sounds of it and now I feel like a right wuss! Don't hesitate to go and see your GPs, there are meds and solutions for when things get really grim. Also, don't think if you're not vomiting, that it's not as bad, because extreme nausea can be just as debilitating.

Things to check: make sure you're not losing too much weight through vomiting or not eating. Between 5 and 10% of your original body weight is thought to be too much. Make sure you keep your fluids up: Coke, ice cubes, ice lollies, sparkling water, squash, water with lemon juice, flat lemonade, in fact, whatever you fancy. If you can't keep anything down, get yourself some dipsticks to check for ketones in your urine, and if you have them, it's time to call the GP/midwife/A&E.

As for me, the homoeopathy is having a radical effect (who said it doesn't work? Oh yes, the NHS Confused ) Unfortunately the pills have lactose in them, and as I'm intolerant, I'm getting awful indigestion and wind instead Grin. I've cut down the dose today to see if I can find a happy balance. Apart from that, I'm resting as much as possible (lucky to have lots of help), and being horizontal (i.e. in bed) seems to help. Sea bands on at all time. I've got a permanently manky taste in my mouth though, anyone else?

ItsMagicYouKnow · 03/08/2016 10:59

Plus, Vitamin B6 is thought to help with nausea and sickness (it's quite a low-level treatment though, and usually prescribed in combination with other meds). I took it last time, have some coming soon. You should be getting some anyway from the prenatal vits, but if like me, you're only taking folic acid, might be worth checking out. Marmite is packed with it too if you can stomach it, have been starting the day with Marmite spread on English muffins. As is brown rice I believe, plus a few other foods.

ItsMagicYouKnow · 03/08/2016 11:00

P.S. Check the amount that is safe to take though, as some supplements come in 100mg and that might be too much, especially if you're on prenatal vits.

cyclinggirl22 · 03/08/2016 11:10

Congrats to all the new BFP's Smile

My booking in appointment is the 15th when I'm 11 weeks and hopefully I will get a scan date then so I'm guessing it will be late I'm worried that after all this time I could find out there is nothing in the sac or something is up but they have been useless with appointments.

I'm also worried about my work, I work with pesticides every day and have high exposure risks, I try to cover myself up but it isn't always possible. I've been reading it can have many effects on the unborn baby. I'd like to speak to the midwives about it but I've not had any contact with them yet so not sure if I'm allowed to speak to them. So worried and not sure what to do for the best. I am due a promotion at work in 4 weeks so was hoping not to mention it at work until then and that will be 13 weeks

Newbie7077 · 03/08/2016 11:12

Hi folks,

I had two questions that have been on my mind a lot:
1/ how common are missed miscarriages vs "normal" miscarriages? I.e. how likely is it that you don't expel for weeks and weeks?

and

2/ have you experienced any type of food poisoning whilst being pregnant?

I had a food poisoning scare recently and the gp said there's no way i can have an early scan i will just have to wait and see if i bleed ( even though i was going on holiday for 2 weeks and i am 10 weeks anyway!) so now im just going to be worrying the whole holiday

MissClarke86 · 03/08/2016 11:12

CyclingGirl why don't you give the midwives a ring? They won't mind.

I'm feeling very few symtpoms today...in fact nothing but a bit of twinning down below. The reassurance of a positive scan only lasts a day or so before the anxiety kicks in again!!

cyclinggirl22 · 03/08/2016 11:14

missclarke I think I will I just wasn't sure if I would be allowed as I haven't seen then yet. Thank you Smile

Dustycorners · 03/08/2016 12:20

Cycling I'm sure you can speak to the midwives - you're already 'on the system' as you have an appointment scheduled. Also, have you checked your employer's pregnancy/maternity policy? It may well have specific procedures around pregnancy and hazardous chemicals (I'd be surprised if it didn't). Whatever it advises, you don't ^have^ to tell them you're pregnant right now, but that's a risk you have to weigh up depending upon your own circumstances. It's very hard because of the promotion situation, but if it comes to it and you tell them, then they don't promote you, that could be unlawful discrimination. Of course, all of these things are easy to argue in theory and much harder to deal with in real life (former lawyer speaking!), but if there is a real risk of harm to you or the baby, then I imagine the medical advice would be to err on the side of caution. I'm sorry you're facing the dilemma - hope the midwives are helpful Flowers

cyclinggirl22 · 03/08/2016 12:34

Thanks dusty it's literally just the promotion thing I'm holding out for and as you say if I don't get it despite me and others being told it's mine I would have a case but proving it is another thing. I'll call the midwives at lunch. Thanks for the advise Smile

alphabook · 03/08/2016 12:42

Welcome to the new BFPs!

Everything crossed for those having cramping and bleeding.Flowers

Those who are suffering with sickness/nausea, I feel your pain. I carry an emergency sick bag in my handbag but luckily I haven't had to use it yet!

Congratulations Neon what fantastic & exciting news!
Cho I hope you scan went well - other than DP I've only told 1 close friend , I agree it's nice to be able to share with others on here. Although it can be difficult keeping up with all the new posts!

Following my trip to the doctors for another follow up blood test he said he'd refer me to the Early Pregnancy Department. An hour later I received a call from a clinical adviser there and I have been booked in for a scan this afternoon! She said there is concern re; the bleeding and that my blood levels 'didn't rise that well' Nothing was said about that when doctor gave me results on Monday - he said they were well in the range and were 'improving appropriately' I am now ABSOLUTELY terrified!!!! Confused Shock Sad

My heart goes out to anyone else that has experienced / is experiencing difficulties

Dustycorners · 03/08/2016 12:49

Hi Newbie, it's so hard, but try not to worry too much. I'm on my phone so can't easily look up the stats, but I remember from previous experience that the NHS website has some helpful information. MMCs are rarer than MCs. Most MCs are in the first six weeks and the odds are in your favour that all will be fine. I previously had an MMC discovered at around 14 weeks, baby had died at around 10 weeks - this was after several early scans that were ok. I was told that an MMC at that stage was rare. The thing is, there is nothing you can do to prevent or preempt such a thing, and early scans give you a few days' reassurance but the anxiety can still come back. Try to remind yourself that the odds are that everything is fine and that worrying does nothing to improve your chances, it just robs you of any enjoyment of the fact you're pregnant. I say this as someone who really struggles with this and I'm dreading my dating scan, but having had a successful pregnancy since my MMC, I also know that everything ^can be fine and probably is^ fine, and that the only thing I can control right now is my attitude and the fact that I may as well be cautiously optimistic now, as feeling negative is a waste of energy. Please try to enjoy your holiday and your pregnancy, as you almost certainly have a healthy beany in there who, in a few short months, will make relaxation a distant memory SmileFlowers

Dustycorners · 03/08/2016 12:51

Louise x-post - good luck at the scan.

Butterpuff · 03/08/2016 12:54

Newbie I had either food poisoning or some kind of 24hr bug that had me up all night with severe vomiting and the runs a week after I got my BFP. I went to the doctors and they said that the bean is so well protected it would be fine. Its not ideal obviously but the chances of it casing any real damage are very, very low. That was a couple of weeks ago and I have severe nausea now so I'm assuming that everything is ok with my bean. Will have to wait for the scan on 30th Aug to be sure but I don't think you should be too worried.

I don't know too much about MMC I'm afraid. But try not too worry.

louise1609 · 03/08/2016 12:56

Thanks Dusty I literally have EVERYTHING crossed!

Butterpuff · 03/08/2016 12:58

Louise I'm thinking of you. Hope all goes well at the scan.

SecretScaryFriend · 03/08/2016 13:20

Thinking of those with cranks/bleeding. It is scary but it is common too. I hope you get some reassurance soon.

Neon that's a quarter done already!!!

Dusty I think we might be nearby each other but don't want to out myself too much on here! I'm guessing if there is a FB group in a few weeks we shall find out!!
