Crazy that we are onto thread 4 already!

Just starting the 12-week scans, but still feet firmly in the anxiety-ridden first trimester, yikes!

Lovely scan, phoebe!!

mshepp, last time I got the test results from the booking appointment from the midwife at the 16 week appointment. It's nothing overly important they're testing for, they need to check whether you're rhesus positive or negative and do a full blood count, but not much more. I'd just put it out of your mind and it'll arrive before you know it.

Blueskies80 · 13/07/2016 21:13

Yay congratulations phoebe, great scan photo!!

I'm up tomorrow... Nervous!!

I have a bump too, trying to hide it at work but I think I will tell my boss next week.

CeeCeeEnnEss · 13/07/2016 21:14

My bump is just where my fat and bloated have moved up my belly, and I can't suck it in any more!

Readyfortwo · 13/07/2016 21:17

I think what's different this time is that my waist has gone again so quickly. Last time it held out far longer so I just had a bit of a bigger belly, this time I've gone straight to full bump so look a lot more pregnant, rather than just fat.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 13/07/2016 22:17

Eek, I can't believe there are actual 12 week scans on this thread already, mine is still over 4 weeks away Sad

I'm 9+4 and I've got a definite bump already. I've lost 10lb due to the nausea but my waist is actually expanding.

Nausea and tiredness is definitely easing off, I've been able to eat proper meals again some nights. Although, some days (like today) it suddenly appears again and knocks me sideways.

I found out last night that my DM has non invasive breast cancer Sad The silly woman has kept it between herself and DF for weeks as she didn't want to cause me any stress - terrified that something will go wrong with this pregnancy bless her!

LondonGirl83 · 13/07/2016 22:22

I'm like you if-- I've lost about 6-7 pounds but I definitely have a growing bump. Not as impressive as ready's though

GinIsIn · 13/07/2016 22:29

Congrats, Phoebe!

10 weeks today and bump has appeared here too. Oh, and my boobs have gone up FOUR cup sizes. Have only put on 4lbs though so god knows how!!

Funtimelem · 14/07/2016 06:57

My edd is 5th Feb

ButtonTum · 14/07/2016 07:39

Amazing pic Phoebe, proper real baby! Is 16 week bloods for trisomome testing? Do they do that routinely as well?

ButtonTum · 14/07/2016 07:43

I think I've gained 1lb but my waist is massive and I have permanent bloat rather than a bump. So sorry to hear about your DM IfatFirst. Is it operable?

Dreamingoutloud7 · 14/07/2016 08:28

I just have constant bloat, luckily I've traveled so much people just think I've been overindulging!

Evergreen17 · 14/07/2016 08:47

Damn
I am getting married in August and I will be 12 weeks

I didnt think you could get a bump so early with your first baby Sad

Oh dear

Evergreen17 · 14/07/2016 08:48

Oh! I dont have one yet (9+1) just going from what people are saying here

SkyLucy · 14/07/2016 09:17

Oh ifatfirst I'm sorry to hear that. I went through a very similar situation two years ago...I was preparing to get married, when my Ma thought she should probably tell me that she had DCIS. Silly thing thought she'd get away with complete secrecy, but realised the mastectomy might give her away! Mums eh? Two years on, everything is absolutely fine. She had the op and has been closely monitored and all is well. I know it's bloody terrifying but non-invasive BC is a 'good' kind and there's so much that can be done to get rid of it. Not much fun in the short-term, but a great prognosis. I wish your Ma all the very best xxx

wm3010 · 14/07/2016 09:59

Interesting to see other second timers already have bumps, I was worried it was just me and it meant twins, eek! I am not too bad if I suck my abs in but if I relax there is a very definite bump. I have probably put on a load of weight too trying to keep nausea at bay. Can't bear to weigh myself and find out!

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 14/07/2016 10:05

Button & Skylucy
Yes, it seems as though it is operable, so the outlook looks good. But my Mum is such a worrier, Dad has said that she's barely eating at the moment through stress and then she's worrying about me too! Sad

Dreamingoutloud7 · 14/07/2016 12:58

ifatfirst sorry I missed your message about your mum, sorry to hear that, bless her for trying to protect you though

LondonGirl83 · 14/07/2016 13:09

if sorry about your DM but glad to hear it's generally operable and th prognosis is good. Great cancer has very good survival rates these days if it's the right kind.

SpinALittleFaster · 14/07/2016 13:09

Evergreen no one has a proper bump at this stage, it's just bloating and everything starting to move out of the way before your uterus moves up in the second trimester. I was swollen in the first trimester with DD but didn't have a real bump that couldn't be sucked in until 20 weeks.

wm3010 · 14/07/2016 13:15

if Sorry to hear about your DM but glad the outlook is good.

MarjorySunshineDust · 14/07/2016 13:51

Had my booking in appointment this morning, like my midwife a lot so that's good! Had a student midwife in there as well.

They were quite concerned about my risk of developing depression and weren't very impressed I had been advised to stop my medication. I'm going to be referred to the mental health midwifery team which I'm pleased about as I am worried about getting pnd again.

BMI is dead on 30 so they are advising a gtt. Nothing else said about my weight though. Bit annoying as I would have been under if not for this awful water retention! Still classed as a low risk pregnancy anyway so it's all good.

Should get 12 week scan appointment in the post soon Smile

MarjorySunshineDust · 14/07/2016 14:15

Oh has anyone else been advised to take a higher dose of folic acid due to bmi? No one ever mentioned it in previous pregnancy, just wondering if it's a new guideline.

ScottyAl · 14/07/2016 15:05

Hello, newbie here!

Only had a bfp on Monday and today I've been for a dating scan which had confirmed me at 10 weeks with a due date of 8th Feb. 12 week scan on 28th July...talk about things happening quickly!

Look forward to following everyone through the next few months and beyond Smile

gumbootsandjandals · 14/07/2016 15:23

The date for my scan came through today. Of course it's the same day my husband is already double booked. I've rung to change it and now will need to find childcare for the monsters.

Also got sent some info about a vitamin D study. I'm quite interested but it requires taking a tablet every day, and apart from folic acid I am really bad at taking supplements. You get an extra scan at 34 weeks and baby gets a bone density scan after birth. Interestingly it states the vit D dose has been chosen to keep your levels normal as some research has shown high vit d levels in pg may cause eczema and asthma.
