Congratulations mrsrolly! I'm sorry you didn't get your home birth but pleased it was still positive.

Well done on your walk pulpi. Fingers crossed the aches ease up soon. I've been doing a bit of walking since the middle of last week too. Trying for 5km a day to see if it gets things moving. Managed 7km yesterday but still no luck. Skipped out today because I mistimed housework and cooking. I'll be back on it tomorrow though. Just wish it would start something off.

AnnaT45 · 17/07/2016 21:57

Congrats rolly love that name!!! One cool dude. Hope you're ok and glad even though you had to go in that it was so positive.

Oh this heat!!! With a whingey DD who wanted to be cuddled all afternoon Confused it's meant to be getting warmer too. My main issue is I don't really have many clothes. Going to try dig out my holiday stuff tomorrow. I'm sure I've got a kaftan that will do for wearing around the house! Hope everyone else is managing ok in it xx

pulpi · 17/07/2016 22:14

I do not understand how you ladies are coping down south with this heat, but you have my sympathies! I can recommend Scotland to beat the heat.

Ellizardo · 17/07/2016 22:24

Anna - feel your pain with clingy toddler in this heat. Had awful nightsweat last night too so lying atop duvet now for all those hours of sleep I'm going to get. Not.

Mrsrolly - your son is going to have to be in a band with that fab name! Glad it all went well. Can't believe the spectrum of experiences we've all had!

Cheery1 · 18/07/2016 02:27

Congrats rolly and welcome Raffy!

birchybaby2 · 18/07/2016 02:53

Hi ladies. Catching up. Probably from just the time of the post you can tell Daniel has arrived. 3.21 am on Saturday 16/7. Discharged home this afternoon and still trying to settle him. Waters broke Friday morning and then they induced me later that day. Labour difficult but got me my beautiful little boy, so will block it out.
Lovely to catch up on everyone's news. Dats can't believe your Labour was so quick.
Anna, had a giggle at your predictive text but only had phone access so couldn't reply. Will have a think bout gift. Even a heartfelt note saying how much you appreciated them will mean so much.
Right let's see if we can both get some sleep ha ha. Xx

AnnaT45 · 18/07/2016 09:31

Congrats birch (triple checks spelling Grin) hope you're ok and feel free to tell your birth story. I found the more I did the more I was at peace with it! Hope you're doing ok now?
Thank you, yes will be sending a note. Was thinking of sending a photo of bub when it arrives as they were all so lovely to me and interested in baby.

My aunty is coming over today to batch cook for me. I'm sorting nursery, car, prams etc and having a nap! Just sorting the funeral it will take place next Monday so hoping I don't go into labour before!!! Hope everyone is well? Xx

Lucia82 · 18/07/2016 09:45

Congratulations to all the new babies and mums - lovely reading your stories and seeing your beautiful babies.

Sorry for your loss Anna, hope your plan for timing works out and you get to the funeral as planned!

I've become one of those 'first time mums'.... Started strong painful contractions 11pm Saturday night, and have continued every 30mins since. I've walked, bounced on the ball, been out in the garden doing stuff, eaten, drank, stayed upright, taken a nap, still only at 30 mins.

Decided to phone just to check they are happy for me to continue, and basically got the talk about how I'm not in labour. Despite the fact I know I'm not ready to go in, just so frustrating. Wasn't sure how long until they want to check up on baby etc.

Any one else having the same? Seems like I'm the only one stuck in early stages, everyone else going straight to waters broken and admission!

40+4

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 18/07/2016 09:57

Just dropping in to say baby arrived yesterday via emergency c section. No name as yet. Will post pic and birth story in a couple of days

tams13 · 18/07/2016 10:09

Congratulations birchy and allthegood! So happy you've met your babies and looking forward to pictures.

anna I'm in awe of how strong you have been through all of this. I hope timings work out so you are able to be at the funeral.

lucia I hope your contractions pick up soon. Are they painful at the moment? I don't really have any advice sorry. I've got the complete opposite 40+3, no contractions (not even a braxton hicks), no show, no discomfort. I'm wondering whether this baby will ever come out. The pineapple, walks, raspberry leaf tea and sex are doing nothing either.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 18/07/2016 13:35

Bluebell yay I've been looking out for your birth announcement. Congratulations. I hope you are both recovering well.

MrsRolly congratulations. Rafferty was our other boy choice name we really struggled to decide between the two. So fab name.

Birchy congratulations. Hope you are enjoying those newborn snuggles.

Allthegood Congratulations. I look forward to the pics.

Lucia I know you've already done it but if you can go for another long walk or walk up the stairs sideways a few times. A bath may relieve the pains completely at this early stage. I was the same with ds1. Went for a walk and the pains got a little stronger then had a bath. It's only when I got out of the bath (I was in it a long while just draining water and topping up ) I realised how strong my contractions had got.

Lucia82 · 18/07/2016 14:41

That's just it, my contractions are very strong, take my breath away, can't talk, panting, strong. I promise I'm quite good with pain but these are not weak. Still only every half hour.

Done my 10,000 steps for the day, with lunch out, and trying not to look like a crazy person while panting through the contractions. Now bouncing on my ball. Oh well. Hopefully soon....

Thanks everyone for the advice, just a waiting game!

pulpi · 18/07/2016 15:10

10 000 steps, Lucia?! I'm impressed! And I thought my gentle saunter around Morrisons this afternoon was strenuous exercise. Hope everything continues to progress well!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 18/07/2016 16:16

Lucia if the pain is that bad I would tell hospital you are coming in. If they can see how intense they are for themselves they may help you along by breaking your waters. I have to warn you though the pain will get a lot worse. Good luck

primarynoodle · 18/07/2016 17:27

Lucia could you ring your community midwife and explain and ask if they will come and check you for dilation? If not i second beaut - ring labour ward back for an assessment and maybe waters breaking. Sometimes a different midwife on the end of the phone is all it needs!

MrsRolly · 18/07/2016 19:37

Thank you everyone, beaut I remember the name from your list my husband said that we couldn't have Rafferty but then two days ago decided he absolutely loved it out of nowhere so I was delighted! I agree massive kudos to those still pregnant it is so hot today!

AnnaT45 · 18/07/2016 21:23

I am roasting hot and spent the day sorting the nursery so it's at least tidy! I'm not looking forward to bed. I normally cope fine with heat but not being so pregnant. About to have a cold shower and then be a whale in front of a fan!

mascaraisamust · 18/07/2016 22:02

Hi all. To update: I had the fourth gel, didn't work. They broke my waters and I laboured a good 12 hours with the drip until they decided emcs. Had our little boy on Friday - 8lb 7. Not a great experience but he is here! safe!

pulpi · 18/07/2016 22:07

Sorry to hear that it was a long, drawn out and draining experience for you, mascara, but congrats on your safely delivered baby boy! Hope you have a bit of time to rest up and recover.

beckslovestimmy · 18/07/2016 22:20

Congrats mascara sounds like you had a hard time of it. Hope your home and getting a bit of rest now. What a mix of experiences us ladies have had!!

tams13 · 18/07/2016 23:07

Oh mascara it sounds like you've really been through it! Congratulations on your little boy though. A long, tough journey but at least he's here safe.

birdandbee · 19/07/2016 00:18

Hi everyone, I've not posted on here since really early days but I have always read and caught up with posts when I've had chance.
I'm now 40 +5, really struggling with the heat and was so hoping our little girl would be here by now.
Congratulations to all those who have their gorgeous newborns.
I had a sweep last Thursday at 40 weeks and was told I was 1-2cm with a bishop score of 6 but pretty uneventful since apart from a few cramps and losing my plug. Got another sweep booked for Thursday, really wanting to avoid induction
