Aw thank you ladies. I've been moved cubicle with a light that goes off at least, well actually it may not turn on but I think that's better! I think it's going to be a long few days but other mums in room are in trickier situations and are being so lovely and support - just like you all. I'm feeling better having survived a night and seems like LO is doing well so that's brilliant. Thanks again for all your support.

Anna - because of IV anti viral drug I have to be on SCBU so no private room for me. I feel sorry for other mums as machine bleeps constantly through the night. Awful

Cheery1 · 16/07/2016 13:50

anna also hope you're doing ok after losing your mum. You must be on such a rollercoaster. One foot in front of the other and it may take time for all that's happened to sink in and process. Sending love x

julfin · 16/07/2016 17:03

Baby Jasper, born on Thursday. All well!

Looking forward to catching up on other people's news later - hope everyone is doing ok x

He's gorgeous julfin. Jasper seems to have ditched the earphones though. Glad all is well.

Just briefly scan reading for new babies and marking my place. Congrats to all those that have had babies! Flowers.

Im still in the wars in terms of pain and attached to a pump thing over my c-section wound to stop it becoming infected. Feeding is also proving a little problematic..... also coming to the realise just how sick I was during labour and after. However, my daughter is just amazing and despite my local hospital being in special measures. The care i received was excellent.... and I still look back on it all as something truly amazing (or perhaps thats just the painkillers haha Grin

Before i go.... Anyone got nay tips for a completely blocked boob (baby or pup can not get anything out of it today and its getting bigger by the second)

birdandbee · 16/07/2016 19:38

Meant to post some pictures

birdandbee I would try massaging the blocked area whilst under a hot shower on the affected breast. You can also massage whilst expressing, if you have an electric pump, or feeding if your LO will latch. It's painful to begin with but it really helps to break the blockage down. Sometimes you can get something called a bleb on your nipple which can cause a blockage. They look like a small hard white spot on your nipple. If you've got one, you can gently pick it out with a finger nail or with a sterilised needle if it's hard to get at. That should then release the blockage behind it.

birdandbee · 16/07/2016 20:15

Speak Sending you a virtual hug! No white spot but my whole nipple was covered in a scab from where it bled earlier in the week... picked off and milk instantly flowed! Still slow flow but pumping some milk off as we speak.
Feel dim for not realising myself, but Thank you! Smile

SpeakNoWords · 16/07/2016 20:20

Glad to be of help! It's horrible having blockages and lumps and bumps.

Bluebell20 · 16/07/2016 20:23

Hi everyone,

I am so sorry for the radio silence! And I've had no time to read the rest of the thread so I have no idea what's gone on - will catch up as soon as possible.

I went in for an induction on Sunday evening and was given a pessary. I responded pretty strongly - it started working by half midnight, and by 1am I was having five contractions in ten minutes. As soon as they could (I think maybe 3am?) I was taken down to the delivery suite where I continued to labour. I didn't dilate very quickly - I think I got to 4cm - and the contractions increased until I had hardly any break between them. Baby's heart rate plummeted, then went up again and was okay, then they broke my waters and his heart rate plummeted again, so they stopped my contractions with an injection (no idea how the hell that works!) and took a blood sample from his head. His oxygen levels were too low so they whipped me in for a Cat 1 EMCS.

Everyone was wonderful and kept me really calm. I actually can't believe how calm I was. I hypnobirthed my ass off. Anyway, the C-section went well, although they nicked the baby's head when they cut me and he needed two stitches! My first view was of him puking meconium - hilarious!

Both he and I struggled a lot on that first day. I was vomiting most of the day due to a reaction to the anaesthetic, and baby's temperature was low and he had a blood sugar dip which meant he had to be fed a whack of formula.

Long story short, he continued to have blood sugar dips so by Wednesday he ended up with a nasal feeding tube and we got moved to transitional care. I was knackered by then and having anxiety meltdowns about keeping clean. The hospital staff were absolutely incredibly lovely and moved us to a side room, which helped enormously. Both of us got a lot better from then on, and today we were finally discharged and came home!

We have named him Ruben, although we haven't got any middle names sorted yet. He is an absolute love, although still quite flaky from being born 13 days overdue!

I have lots of other things to say but will stop there because I think Ruben needs feeding again!!!!

Hoping to read back on the thread later and find out lots of other happy little bits of news. Love xxxx

Bluebell20 · 16/07/2016 20:25

Forgot to say, he was also 8lb 12oz. So much for those growth scans for me having a small bump!!!

primarynoodle · 16/07/2016 20:53

What a rollercoast bluebell. Huge congrats on ruben and i hope you are both feeling much better now. Well done for hypnobirthing your way through that what a trooper!

Ellizardo · 16/07/2016 21:08

Bluebell - so pleased to hear you're both ok considering the ups and downs.

Ellizardo · 16/07/2016 21:09

Sent too soon! Bluebell looking forward to a pic of Rubén at home with the crochet please! And there's the post natal thread to explore now too! X

tams13 · 16/07/2016 21:30

Congratulations bluebell and bird. Sounds like you've both had tough starts but glad that your little ones are both doing well now.

HopesAndDreams15 · 16/07/2016 22:31

So lovely to see the new arrivals still rolling in, congratulations ladies!!

Gosh Bluebell sounds like you and Ruben have been through it, glad you're now home.

Cheery I hope you and LO are homeward bound soon.

Anna so sorry to read your sad news Flowers

birdandbee · 17/07/2016 09:11

Bluebell- Congrats!! so pleased to see that you have had your baby. Sounds like we had a similar experience in the end, how are you doing?
I think it's only really hit me this weekend reading my discharge summaries how poorly baby and I were by the end of it, because everyone was so calm and you don't get the significance of things like the midwife playing songs from eg Rhianna and Calvin Harris really loudly at the time (she told my partner that she was trying to keep me conscious for the delivery of my baby). So according to my partner Anabelle was born to Moves like Jagger by Maroon Five!

Congrats to Cheery, Gnat and Photo too - have I missed anyone?

Anna- There are no words to express how sorry I am to here your sad news. I'm sure I speak for all the other ladies posting on this site, when I say please do use us to get stuff off your chest (as you said in your post) if it's helps you.

Right I should use this time when baby (And partner!) are sleeping to good use.

Cheery1 · 17/07/2016 11:56

Congratulations bluebell - really good to hear you're ok. Sounds like we've had a similar journey! Hypnobirthing really helped me too! Great that you're home with Ruben. We're all still in hospital and can't wait to get home. Hope you're enjoying lovely home time together xx

Thom80 · 17/07/2016 14:55

Walked over 5km today with a bunch of folks from my NCT class. Pelvis feels like it wants to extract revenge and is plotting with my lower back. Time for a warm bath, I think.

Baby Rafferty 'Raffy' Fox Rollason born today at 12.40pm had to go in to hospital in the end as the midwives were too busy to come to our house. But had a lovely experience, amazing midwife.

Got to come home fairly quickly which was perfect.. Have had a house full of family ever since so should be quiet for the next few days.

Will share a pic and read updates later Smile

pulpi · 17/07/2016 20:06
