Bird what a story, well done you glad hospital care was better and an absolutely beautiful girl.

Anna so so sorry to hear, agree with what others have said give yourself the time and space for whatever you feel you need. The grief for a parent is so different in my experience to that of loosing anyone else. Thinking of you all but from what you have said your mum had a family to be proud of and I am sure you will support each other as you have been doing! FlowersFlowers

Ellizardo · 13/07/2016 09:37

Anna - what a shattering day, I am so sorry.

Julfin - I was born in Summer 1976 and always think I shared the planet for just a few days with Elvis!

dats - Claudia is doing beautifully well. The only leeetle thing is that she leads a nocturnal double life - staying up all night to feed like a vampire before passing out at 0700 just when Mummy has to wake up (not that she ever went to sleep mind you). Here's a pic of her transitional yawning phase.

Sounds hard elliz, I hope your getting a bit of rest in the day? Hopefully she'll settle down soon and start recognising the difference between day and night. Very cute picture, she's beautiful.

foobio · 13/07/2016 11:34

Thinking of you and your family Anna Flowers

Congratulations Bird, she's adorable!

Who else is in the overdue club now? Bluebell and Woodsy must surely have popped by now?! (massive apologies if I've missed it!)
Gnat & Cheery, how are you doing? I'm having my 3rd (!) sweep shortly, determined not to be induced on Saturday (and in fact if all monitoring is looking ok, I will probably delay induction for a few more days as they brought my EDD forward by 3 days)

And happy due dates to Scase and Allthegoodnames for yesterday!

Anyone else showing any sign of anything (it's like 2 week wait symptom spotting all over again!)

elliz she just looks like she's been around forever! Gorgeous girl.

Anna hope you're doing ok. Are you still on for spa-ing it up, tomor?

gnat, Cheery & Bluebell thinking about you all!

Nothing here yet, hooray! but not hooray if it ends in induction Although bird's experience was overall positive so that made me feel better! Great birth story, part from the community middos. I hope mine are a bit less miserable!

So will I be offered a sweep at my 40w appt tomor, do we think?? Midwife didn't mention it at the last one. How long do they leave between them? I'm a bit worried it'll hurt. I'm not a massive wimp but I'm so swollen and sore that I don't know how I feel about the idea of someone sticking their hand up there (I may not have done my research properly).

dats, 39+3

foobio · 13/07/2016 12:38

dats I was offered a sweep at my 40wk, but it was discussed at previous appointment, and I was 40+2, so if you are before 40wks then maybe they're waiting til your next appointment. Mine definitely haven't hurt, just quite awkward feeling, especially when baby has a wriggle in objection at having its head poked! Think the main thing is to be relaxed so try practicing some breathing techniques if you are tense. I've had mine at 40+2, 41 & 41+2, so 5 and 2 day gaps between them. Lost some mucus plug today but only 2cm and some softening still to go so going all out on the ball bouncing/RLT/pineapple/long walks/sex today, come on baby!

Oh anna thinking of you Flowers

Cheery1 · 13/07/2016 14:19

Oh Anna, sending you so much love xx

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 13/07/2016 18:16

Bird Congratulations. wow what a birth story. I can't believe her weight, those cheeks. She's adorable.

Anna I'm so so sorry for your loss. Please take time and make sure you look after yourself. I will be thinking of you. Like others have said it's great that you at least had the opportunity to be with your mum in her final moments.

Eliz I also have a nocturnal baby. Monty-Beau finally has four hours between 4am and 8am. This is great but when DH goes back to work ds3 gets up at 7am so there won't be much chance for sleep for me.

Mascara good luck.

Cheery hoping you have a baby by now or if not very soon.

MrsRolly hopefully things start for you soon. I lost my plug gradually and was in labour 48 hours after the first sight of it.

Bluebell I'm presuming you have a baby now. Can't wait to hear some news.

Sending positive labour vibes to all. From reading the thread it sounds like there a probably a few baby announcements due anytime.

Has anyone managed to edit the stats list? If not I'm happy to update it?

Cheery1 · 13/07/2016 18:30

We've had a dramatic 24 hours! ended up with EMS at 7am under general anesthetic. Baby in neonatal unit and doing well so far. Bit exhausted but he's arrived and is doing well, it was a bit hairy this morning!

beckslovestimmy · 13/07/2016 18:35

Oh god cheery sounds like a scary 24 hours. Glad your little boy is doing ok. Hope your resting up and recovering well. FlowersChocolateBrewCake

dats · 13/07/2016 18:39

Congrats, Cheery!!!! Flowers xx

tams13 · 13/07/2016 18:44

Oh my word cheery. Sounds like a stressful time for you and your family. Hope you're feeling ok after the c section and baby cheery continues to do well.

It seems to have been a bit quieter on here today. I wonder if we're in for more baby news.

Tried marching around town for a few hours today to see if anything would happen. All I seem to have done is made my back a bit achy. I was really hoping not to make it to my mw appointment tomorrow but looks like I will be there. Feel selfish thinking these things and feeling lost when I'm still a couple of days away from my edd and others are already over theirs. Sorry.

SpeakNoWords · 13/07/2016 18:44

Congratulations cheery, and I hope you're recovering well and baby is too.

Ellizardo · 13/07/2016 19:20

Cheery - congratulations! When you're ready to share your 'all's well that ends well' story, you'll have a very sympathetic audience. In the meantime rest up and enjoy xx

Cookiesandcoffee · 13/07/2016 19:25

Congratulations cheery sounds like a bit of a ride! Hope you are resting and recovering well, and the little Mr is all good BrewCakeBiscuit for you!

my induction.. (9 days late!)

Went in at 8am. Spent until 12 on the monitor (was a nightmare, it kept losing the baby so then the monitoring would go back to 0 and they would only start the process m once they had a clear 30 mins!) gel went in at 12. Walked around hospital, bounced on ball, nothing but a few cramps. 6pm - 2cm at a push but (with a lot of discomfort) managed to break my waters. However back on monitor and same issues. Was getting annoyed but luckily around 8.30/9 I got transferred to a room. No pool though. Was told I would be examined at 10pm to see if I needed the drip ( wanted to avoid) so I really went for it with squatting/rocking etc. Contractions started and 5-7 mins apart by 10. Told it wasn't hopeful. But was actually 4cm. By 11.30 contractions were coming thick and fast and now 6cm and started on G&A. Looked like he was coming very soon as we neared midnight. However I had started to become unresponsive from the G&A and was moved to the bed from my squatting position on floor. Pain was awful and they turned off the gas. Queue me having a huge panic and pain meltdown and demanding an epidural!. 1/2pm epidural in. This is what I don't remember. Soon after epidural went in apparently I looked like I had a fit, sat bolt upright and passed out. I remember coming round to a room full of docs crowding the room. Blood pressure scary low but after a drip (I think) it came back up. And Epidural was immediately turned off. Next few hours contractions completely stopped and I actually went back to 5cm (who knew that was even possible!) at 4am I was told I had until 6am to have strong contractions and have progressed further or would be taken to theatre For EMCS. (mw said this was v unlikely to happen in such a short space of tme) They put a drip in which was turned up at 5.15pm. I could feel contractions starting again at 5.45 in the nick of time and when doc returned at 6pm she was happy to let me continue for another hour, but baby would need to arrive in the next hour or two to be born naturally.

I had pushed him out and was holding him in my arms within the next 30 mins! No idea where the energy came from but I've never been more determined!

No idea why but my body really didn't want the pain relief that night apparently! the Mw said she had never seen G&A stop contractions! I had a lucky escape with regards to the section, and they said it was very lucky indeed that throughout all the blood pressure and fainting that baby's heart rate remained stable the whole time! He really is one chilled out baby!

MrsRolly · 13/07/2016 19:41

Congratulations cheery :) hope he's back with you soon.

Wow cookies that is quite a story! Glad you are all ok now and we'll done you the human body is truly amazing.

Thanks beaut, had some pains today and walked about 4/5 miles overall so hoping something kicks off soon. Had some more slight bleeding but think I am mucused out now Wink

mascaraisamust · 13/07/2016 20:56

Nothing going on here, not dilating. Had three round did prostaglandin now Sad not sure what the next move is...

Congrats Cheery, sorry to hear it was so dramatic but glad everyone is safe and you can enjoy cuddles.

Cookies, scary!

photographerlady · 13/07/2016 21:24

Bird thank you for sharing and congrats!

Anna thinking of you

Cheery1 sounds like a busy day but glad everything is okay

Cookiesandcoffee wow quite the story I am amazed you had the energy. Well done!

mascaraisamust aww three rounds of gel? I take it they haven’t let you go home :( Hang in there!

Well tomorrow is induction day! Managed to get a sitter sessions in the evening just in case I am about to head into a 1-2 day induction process it will at least give the grandparents a break. I am going in for 7:30am tomorrow, so assuming that I will not get the magic cervix tampoon til 9-midday. Last time I walked around like a mad woman for 20 hours and nothing came of it. This time I am thinking I will nap til lunchtime just on case the whole first day ends up being a write off.

dats · 13/07/2016 21:35

Cookies blimey!!! What a dramatic tale! And reverse dilation, wtaf?! So glad you managed in the end and George is a chilled boy!

tams you loon - don't apologise! You sound really fed up, lovely - are you ok?

mascara how are you doing? Are you knackered or able to get some rest? When will they update you? Hope you're ok.

Rolly I have utmost respect for your pelvis that you can walk 4-5 MILES at this point!! Crikey, you must have ligaments of kryptonite!

We have three kitchen cupboards on the wall, woohoo! And I've just had HD pralines & cream. Midwife and visiting friend with 9w old tomor. I'm enjoying being in my weird bubble with DP and DD while the country is going bonkers around me. Boris Foreign Secretary? Sorry, what?!

gnat99 · 13/07/2016 22:08

Hello all, thanks for your cheering - it must have done the trick, as Eleanor Margot Gray was born at 2.04am this morning! 7lb 7 oz and exactly one week overdue.
Labour in the end was fast and painful, and not at all the calm birth centre experience I was hoping for - but all this is forgotten as I lie with my little bundle of magic on my chest Smile

Will write more tomorrow.

Gnat xx

gnat99 · 13/07/2016 22:16

Congrats Cheery and Bird! Hope you are recovering ok. Anabelle Honor looks gorgeous Smile

Anna, so sorry to hear about your mum passing away. I know what you mean about the circle of life. So glad that it was peaceful and gentle. Thinking of you, your mum, and all your family, especially your bump.

gnat99 · 13/07/2016 22:17
