A home for all of us enjoying the surreality of the first trimester. We're sick as dogs, exhausted to the core, our boobs hurt, we've developed superhuman senses of smell and we're shirking all alcoholic bevvies with a variety of lame excuses...

...we're preggers and over the moon! Join us if you're due in February 2017 and fancy wisdom for the weirdness, support for any sadness, and a safe place where you can get excited about what the future holds, before you go public!

Third thread already (we're a chatty bunch!) Second thread here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/2662110-Due-in-February-2017-thread-2?

Tiredness has come back after a couple of days of amazing energy. 2 hour appt with midwife this morning and she was absolutely lovely and thorough and made me feel so happy and relaxed about everything! Phew. She put me at 10 weeks 2 days, so scan in a couple of weeks!! Eek. Should get a letter through next week for it. I am so excited now! And my friend who has just found out she is pregnant got a message today saying she will have her booking in appt with the same midwife as me! So excited. Hope everyone is well today :) x

wispaxmas · 09/07/2016 12:34

I can't believe the thread has 12-wk scans in the coming week, this is getting very exciting. I know it's possible that not everyone will get good news at their scans, but I really am looking forward to getting past this initial anxious period. I've been exceedingly lucky and being scanned every 2 weeks has kept me from being an anxious mess like I was last time around, but I totally understand the anxiety and every announcement of sad news is awful. I really hope our little club is past the worst of it now, for a while it felt like we were dropping like flies. I'm not sure if I'm putting my thoughts into words well..

FriendlyGhost · 09/07/2016 13:11

Had a private scan today at 8+4 and baby is measuring exactly 8+4 with a heart rate of 170. Feeling a lot more positive now!
Definitely agree Wispa it will be lovely to get past 12 weeks so we can all relax a bit. It's so sad that we've lost people along the way but hopefully no more.

Jojoclaire · 09/07/2016 13:16

Yep wispa amazing that we're at 12 week stage already!!

On another note, (sorry for massive rant) I'm so stressed today! we were meant to be going to Costa Rica for our honeymoon (got married in March) and booked it after MC in May, but then found out about this little one so had to cancel. I paid for American Airlines flights to Travelup (best deal on sky scanner) so have been trying to get a refund ever since late May once DH learnt about Zika virus being dangerous while pregnant. Had to send doctors letters and 7 wk scan results but Travelup v slow and non responsive and it turned out, from calling AA myself yesterday flights still hadn't been cancelled, for this coming Monday!! The guy at agency is suggesting we won't get a refund because we booked after 31st March, and basically we should have known about risks. Did anyone else know? We hardly heard of it til about a month ago when it had started spreading. Don't want to lose nearly £2k!! So stressful dealing with travel companies... Grrrr...

melmel89 · 09/07/2016 15:19

Can anyone help?!?!
My midwife appointment isn't for another 2 weeks when I'll almost be 12 weeks, how soon do you get a scan after this? I'm obviously very excited but also nervous so would love to just have a rough idea of how soon scans are after booking appointments

wispaxmas · 09/07/2016 15:29

melmel, in my area the scan and booking in appt are done separately and not one after another. When I was referred to the midwives I was also referred to the scan, so it's not the midwives that referred me, I referred myself (or would have been referred by my GP) - I would call whoever referred you to ask if you need a separate referral for the scan and if you can call someone about it as you'll be 12 weeks by the time you book in, especially if in your area it's the midwives who refer after booking in.

wispaxmas · 09/07/2016 15:30

That said, they may get you in quickly and you can have the scan up to something like 13+6.

melmel89 · 09/07/2016 15:44

I've already had two early reassurance scans due to an ectopic pregnancy last yr. When they discharged me from the EPU they told me to contact my GP surgery for a midwife appointment and go from there. Which is how I got my midwife appointment. So should I call my GP to make sure I'm being referred for dating scan too?? Sorry for sounding stupid, it's my first pregnancy that's going further than an emergency op Confused

PhantomPower · 09/07/2016 17:03

Looks like I'm probably out too - had an early scan due to pain and some spotting (at 8+2) but while they saw a heartbeat, the sac is too small for the foetus. Not an enormous amount of research out there but looks like about an 80% chance of miscarriage. Got 2 weeks to wait for next scan but seems unrealistic to not expect bad news.

Blueskies80 · 09/07/2016 18:12

Phantom, I'm so very sorry for your bad news.. Sounds like there is a little bit of hope so hoping that it all works out Flowers

Phoebe- looks like it's us first up! For my scan I will 11 plus 5 but would be over 12 weeks based on LMP which is of course what they use. I am ok about the scan currently. I know I will be worried about mmc when I get there. Realistically I can't do this again so it is our last go. It will be a big relief to find out either way.

Melmel my scan is also done separately to the booking in, can you self refer to maternity dept of local hospital for the scan? I think scans can be done up to over 13 weeks.

Evergreen17 · 09/07/2016 19:23

Melmel the 12 weeks scan is important as they do the Downs test as well (unless you dont want it)
I would call GP and ask if you need to self refer

Evergreen17 · 09/07/2016 19:24

Phantom so sorry to hear this, I hope things go ok but I dont wish that wait on anyoneSad

Dutchy88 · 09/07/2016 20:06

Sorry I've not posted much. It's been a very anxious wait. My rescan is Monday and I'm beyond nervous.

Phantom I got the same news last Friday. I'm being rescanned this Monday and we will see what's happened. It seems so unfair when the baby is the right size and it's the sac being useless!!

jpclarke · 09/07/2016 21:20

Thank you Laceylee and major sunshine for your for your input. I am going to continue breastfeeding. I am exhausted and have sore nipples so I do have some symptoms. I suffered ms with DD and nausea with ds but I haven't had anything yet but I can't stomach eggs so I guess something is going on and my husband is already saying how I am going to find it hard to hide this pregnancy for another 6 weeks. I had to giant buy jeans a size up today. And I haven't been overeating at all.
Friendlyghost I am so glad to hear your scan went so well for you today, you must be so relieved.

I am so sorry to hear Duchy and Phantom that you are both going through such a tough time.

PhantomPower · 09/07/2016 22:37

Thanks all.
Dutchy - it was just worse as was preparing for bad news then saw the heartbeat so thought we were fine, had a 5 minute wait in the waiting room feeling relieved then found out. Maybe it was the same for you?

Itslittlek · 10/07/2016 07:08

Hey everyone, happy sunday!

I've been away this weekend and at 11+1 my appetite is certainly retuning to normal range!

Hope everyone is doing ok? Very sorry to hear the sad news and happy to read the positive news also.

Best wishes to everyone! X

divadee · 10/07/2016 08:17

Morning ladies.

Sorry for the sad news to some. I'm keeping everything crossed and praying for some good outcomes for you.

Thought yesterday the nausea had eased. Alas woke up this morning and back with a vengeance. Gahhh.

9+6 today. So hopefully only a couple more weeks of it.

Dutchy88 · 10/07/2016 08:30

Phantom yes I'd been told to prepare for the worst after lots of red bleeding and then there was a heartbeat and all was brilliant, until it wasn't.

SpinALittleFaster · 10/07/2016 08:33

So sorry for all the bad news over the last few days. I hope your wait isn't too painful phantom.

Only another 2 days until my epu followup scan. I've been able to pick up what I'm convinced is a heartbeat on my doppler but still freaking out that the remaining one isn't developing properly. I'm trying not to think about being pregnant until the scan, although I did go out and buy cream for my expanding belly yesterday. I'm already twice the size I was 6 weeks ago!

LaceyLee · 10/07/2016 09:17

9+5 today and had my scan yesterday. All was well and we saw the little heartbeat Smile

Sorry that not everyone has such happy news Sad

Still feeling tired and nauseous and thinking about telling close family but I feel so nervous!! I think because we don't live together during the week they will start questioning us about that and what we are gonna do when the baby is here and we don't have all the answers yet. But I don't want to keep hiding it really!

Sunshineface123 · 10/07/2016 10:21

Hi all not posted in a while but hope you're all ok. 12 week scan date has come through 3 weeks time, v excited! Standard symptoms here, sore boobs, sick feeling in mornings only actually been sick once, touch wood! Wishing u all a relaxing Sunday!

divadee · 10/07/2016 12:27

Well if feeling sick 24/7 wasn't enough we have put an offer in on a house for sale! And we have to be out of rented in 7.5 weeks. Gahhhhhhhh. So I am trying to get the full mortgage application in this afternoon with the broker!

Evergreen17 · 10/07/2016 14:39

8 + 4
Utterly bored
Constant headache and no joy

Off a lot of food and just fancy calorific stuff

Low mood and cant stand exercising.

Plus 3 and 1/2 weeks for my 12 weeks scan, where we might or not find a healthy baby in there.

Shite

GinandJazzHands · 10/07/2016 14:44

Hi all,
7+5 today and just about to go in for an early scan. Thinking of all those who haven't had good news Flowers

LondonGirl83 · 10/07/2016 15:08

Fingers crossed for you gin!
