A home for all of us enjoying the surreality of the first trimester. We're sick as dogs, exhausted to the core, our boobs hurt, we've developed superhuman senses of smell and we're shirking all alcoholic bevvies with a variety of lame excuses...

...we're preggers and over the moon! Join us if you're due in February 2017 and fancy wisdom for the weirdness, support for any sadness, and a safe place where you can get excited about what the future holds, before you go public!

Third thread already (we're a chatty bunch!) Second thread here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/2662110-Due-in-February-2017-thread-2?

Evening all
paper I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers
london really glad to hear that the scan went well today. I spent a few years living in London but we are out in the sticks now! Both DH and I work full time, I earn more. I think we've decided I'll take up to a year off (a few months unpaid but they'll keep my job open and mat package is great) and for DH to take the first month off with me, then another month off when the baby is a bit bigger. I think I'll go back compressed hours and at that point he will then go part time, maybe four days. No family near us so totally reliant on childcare, but looking at the sums having one DC in nursery for 3 days seems doable. I have always loved my job and I have no idea how I'm going to feel one way or the other about mat leave and work/baby balance. Seems hard to decide before you've had one!!

PhoebeGeebee · 04/07/2016 19:28

I'd have been happy to walk out of my job and never go back today. My boss has done my swede in and now I hate everyone and everything. And I want chips.

GinandJazzHands · 04/07/2016 19:28

I should caveat with I'm only 7 weeks tomorrow, early scan booked for Sunday, so putting all of that down in writing feels a bit like counting chickens at the moment.
Fingers crossed for sticky beans all around!

GinandJazzHands · 04/07/2016 19:29

Poor Phoebe sending you a virtual chip.

wispaxmas · 04/07/2016 19:45

I'm another SE Londoner, but I'm further out than you all and at the PRUH, but since it's in Kings' Trust I'm having all my scans at Kings!

PhoebeGeebee · 04/07/2016 20:51

Haha - thank you gin. Have calmed down now. And I have some posh cherry jelly to cheer me up.

Has anyone started thinking of names yet?

wispaxmas · 04/07/2016 21:00

Ooh, baby names. Sort of, not really, though. We have each downloaded an app called baby name (the logo looks like an egg), and in it you swipe names left or right depending on if you like them, and you link your app to your DH's app and it will flag up any names that both swipe right for 'like.' We only used it for a short bit the other day, but it came up with 3 names we both like. We're going to find out the sex at the 20wk scan, though, so probably won't think too much about names until then.

Blueskies80 · 04/07/2016 21:11

Wowzers, loads from SE London here!!
Baby names, I do have a Boy and Girl name in mind but haven't discussed with DH yet, we just can't discuss until I get further along, in case it doesn't work out. Think we will be team surprise too which will make a nice change having found out for our two DCs.

Scarydinosaurs · 04/07/2016 21:19

Hello! Just reading and catching up. I've been admitted now and having steroids through an IV. Have a scan tomorrow. Slight risk of gestational diabetes...I don't really know much about that? Any experts here?

Baby names is like, my absolute favourite game, phoebe we have had a boy name since DD1, and VERY keen to use it, and a girl name, which is hard to chose now we already have two girls and don't want it to sound 'matchy' or too similar!

Scarydinosaurs · 04/07/2016 21:19

wispa I have that app! It suggested the name of my DD2 that we ended up using!

Jojoclaire · 04/07/2016 21:43

DH and I just had a go at the app, quite fun but a lot of unusual names that wouldn't be on either of our lists...

Though Andy, Serena and Rafael came up, must be Wimbledon inspired!!

CeeCeeEnnEss · 04/07/2016 21:47

waves from the cold and distant North

I have secret baby name hopes. DH will surely be fine with them...surely. He doesn't have to push a baby out of him.

GinIsIn · 04/07/2016 21:48

Evening all! Sorry, I'm a bit late to the party! How is everyone feeling? I have been getting middle of the night morning sickness - joy!! Hmm We have a private scan booked for tomorrow at 9 weeks - I am so nervous!

LondonGirl83 · 04/07/2016 21:50

Ah, more neighbours? PRUH is in Bromley right?

DH and I picked both a boy and a girls name years ago, though I am having second thoughts about the girl name. I am going to do the NIPT testing in a couple of weeks and because its DNA based, you can find out the sex at the same time! I can't believe in just a few weeks if all goes well I'll know the sex of the baby.

FriendlyGhost · 04/07/2016 21:51

I just downloaded the app. DH won't yet though because apparently it's too soon. He's forgetting that it took us about 8 months to agree last time!
I actually started googling name lists today. I still love some of the names that I wanted last time but unfortunately DH and I have very different ideas so I have no chance with my two favourite girls names. He has just said he hasn't ruled out my favourite boy name but he's convinced we're having a girl anyway so I suspect he thinks I'll never get to use it! Absolutely love looking at names!

Scarydinosaurs · 04/07/2016 21:54

Fenella (love your name by the way- that was a name on my list!) I also have a scan tomorrow! 8 +2 so only a little behind you! Good luck! I am so nervous, but it is making the hospital stay much more appealing knowing I can just walk to the scan in my pyjamas!

london that is crazy!! But so exciting!!

LondonGirl83 · 04/07/2016 21:55

My sickness has eased off a bit today and my hunger returned with ferocity. I've lost 3.5 kilos (half a stone) in the last couple of weeks so its probably for the best. I finally was able to enjoy a meal this evening for the first time in a week.

Scarydinosaurs · 04/07/2016 21:56

friendly my DH is absolutely 100% set against using my favourite girl's name! Though, to be fair, out of pregnancy hormone induced haze, I don't actually like it as much as I thought...😂

FriendlyGhost · 04/07/2016 21:56

Poor you Fenella. Hope you feel better soon and good luck for tomorrow!
London that's so exciting. I'm definitely going to find out at 20 weeks but that seems so far away now. Do you have a feeling either way?

jpclarke · 04/07/2016 21:59

Hi, I am only 5+4 today and I have a slight pelvic pain today and I am starting to feel tired but I don't have any other symptoms. I don't know whether I should be worried or not. I know a lot of you girls are ahead of me, so I am just wondering did ye have symptoms this early?

LondonGirl83 · 04/07/2016 22:04

Yes, totally irrationally I think its a boy. No reason just a gut intuition. Both DH and I are totally happy with either but for some reason I have a feeling.

I might even slightly prefer a little girl as it just seems more familiar! Also, don't DS pee in your face while you change their diapers? :)

SpinALittleFaster · 04/07/2016 22:05

CeeCee you're not alone ;). My due date group for DD was overwhelmingly London based too.

Just been playing with my doppler and found a heartbeat. So relieved that I can check in on the remaining twin now. 8 weeks today.

LondonGirl83 · 04/07/2016 22:05

jp I didn't really start feeling nauseated until week 6. Lot's of women don't have strong symptoms (or any at all all the way through) and are fine. Its really just luck of the draw.

chicken2015 · 04/07/2016 22:10

Hello just wanted to join I'm 8 weeks today with first baby ! Sick of the sickness feeling had it for last 3 weeks

GinIsIn · 04/07/2016 22:20

Good luck tomorrow scary! DH has vetoed my no1 girl's name choice too. In my hormonal state, I might have cried and threatened to keep the name and get a new DH... Blush
