A home for all of us enjoying the surreality of the first trimester. We're sick as dogs, exhausted to the core, our boobs hurt, we've developed superhuman senses of smell and we're shirking all alcoholic bevvies with a variety of lame excuses...

...we're preggers and over the moon! Join us if you're due in February 2017 and fancy wisdom for the weirdness, support for any sadness, and a safe place where you can get excited about what the future holds, before you go public!

Third thread already (we're a chatty bunch!) Second thread here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/2662110-Due-in-February-2017-thread-2?

Welcome Griffs, great news rocket!

God, I haven't done any maths - I'm so unprepared. My maternity package is shocking - I wish I'd looked at it before taking the job 18 months ago! I'm lucky that DH earns well, but he harbours dreams of a very different life, so I don't want him to feel he has to keep this job because of the cash. Also, while my lovely 'rents are super excited about their first grandchild (and only live 3 miles away), they are very ridiculously busy in their retirement, so I don't want to make any childcare assumptions.

TBH I'm considering a career change. I have a creative job but it's still in an office, with a commute, which I loathe. Considering striking out on my own...anyone else?

sky I will only get statutory maternity too. A while ago I tried to move to a job with a better package but it's rare in my industry so I took this job in December. I earn significantly more than DH so we're planning on me going back to work after 5 months and him taking some time out to look after the baby. I also have a creative job in an office over an hour car commute and in the long term I would like to branch out on my own. I'm thinking probably in about 2 years?? It feels like such a big risk though!

Funtimelem · 04/07/2016 14:46

Just come back from 1st midwife and now I feel really upset. I've put on 2 stone since I got pregnant. I have always been fat and I have been a size 22 for years but I feel sad that I have put on so much so quickly. Ensue ally becuase I have had such bad nausea! I have to see a special midwife for obsese now. Plus I need to see a special one for my metal Health issues too.

I know better to be safe than sorry but I can't help feeling upset.

Hazandduck · 04/07/2016 15:13

funtime don't let it get you down just think about that little miracle you are growing inside you and what this is all for. They will be worth it all xxx

Hazandduck · 04/07/2016 15:15

sky my OH is trying to encourage me to do that too as I hate my desk job so much, and I recently designed a friend's wedding invitations, he wants me to go in to doing something in that field! I love it and my true heart lies in an artistic field but the idea of us both being self employed terrifies me a little! He has more faith in me than I do!

LondonGirl83 · 04/07/2016 16:44

market I was at Kings this morning-- I live in Dulwich. Are you a neighbour?

My booking in is at St Thomas but as Kings is so close I decided to go there for the EPU.

The doctor who saw me was fine. She did another scan and said everything looked great-- dates aligning, strong heartbeat etc. Also, she said my cervix looked fine. She said it could just be one of those things that doesn't have a explanation but not to worry about it. She did a swab to rule out thrush!

Ah well, better to have gone than not I suppose.

theremarkablerocket · 04/07/2016 16:55

Glad to hear all's well London. I'm in Peckham and was quite possibly at King's at the same time as you this morning! I got there horrendously early though so got seen at half 9. Reckon that waiting room is going to become my second home if this baby keeps up its high jinks....

Hazandduck · 04/07/2016 16:56

Good news London! I spoke to my midwife today and she wants to keep Saturday's appointment as she said at this stage they still go by my last missed period and she thinks because we saw the heartbeat I am probably further along than the early scan said, she said mm make all the difference so it's really hard to date now and my uterus won't have helped! I knew I was right lol. She said I couldn't possibly have had a positive test as early as I did if the early scan dates are correct. x

LondonGirl83 · 04/07/2016 17:02

We were there at the same time as I was there from 8:50 rocket

How funny to find a neighbour on Mumsnet :)

Haz glad you are happy with what you midwife said. Even though my measurements match, my monographer said exactly the same thing, which is that its too early to properly date / measure at our stage so its not super meaningful.

Blueskies80 · 04/07/2016 17:08

Paper I am so sorry to hear your sad news. Look after yourself xxx Flowers

London, glad all was ok with your scan. Always worth going if something doesn't seem right in my opinion.
Theremarkable, hope all is ok, I remember going back and forth to the Kings epu in previous pregnancies and MCs and the waits are so long and you have to get there so early to get seen at a decent time!

10 plus 2 today, just 3 more days and passed previous MC point, fingers crossed....

Blueskies80 · 04/07/2016 17:10

Waving too as I'm in forest hill!

FriendlyGhost · 04/07/2016 17:17

Glad all's well London. I'm another not too far away Smile
7+6 and really struggling today. I'm alternating between feeling really sick and being starving hungry. I demolished a pizza for lunch but feel so sick now I don't think I'll manage much for tea. Counting down the hours until bedtime!

Hazandduck · 04/07/2016 17:18

blueskies crossing everything for you! Can't imagine how hard it must be to pass that milestone. I wish you could just go to sleep for 3 months and wake up at your 12 week scan lol. X

Hazandduck · 04/07/2016 17:22

Thanks london hopefully this means I'll get a scan sooner rather than later! X

Blueskies80 · 04/07/2016 17:23

Thank you haz!! That sounds so appealing!! Hope you are ok too Smile xx
Friendly- how funny! Smile

Hazandduck · 04/07/2016 17:23

Friendly I'm going round the inlaws soon for tea but I've got the sicky hunger going on so just have to devour the packet of rolos on my desk!

Funtimelem · 04/07/2016 17:44

I'm in catford - must be something I the water!!

Funtimelem · 04/07/2016 17:46

Thanks haz I'll try and remember that! It's hard though

sleepyMe12 · 04/07/2016 17:51

Waves from Eltham!

Jojoclaire · 04/07/2016 18:05

Waving from Camberwell/Peckham border!! I'm with Kings for now too til we move. In a few weeks we'll all be noticing every preggie lady in the area wondering if she's a MNer!

I too am in a creative/ marketing job in an office. Tempted to jack it all in but not sure. A designer friend has just done that and finding regular is work is challenging... She's on people per hour and other freelance sites but doesn't make much (average £5 an hour) I guess it keeps her hand in but I wouldn't do it for the money unless you plan where work is coming from first.

I wish there were more home-working permanent contract jobs available, in a few years I'm sure it'll take off as technology gets better and office space more expensive...

Dreamingoutloud7 · 04/07/2016 18:11

Got an early scan booked for 21/7 I will be exactly 9 weeks, it's made me so nervous but I know I cannot wait another 6 weeks for my nhs one as the anxiety is driving me mad!

so glad your scans went well london and rocket

LondonGirl83 · 04/07/2016 18:18

Wow I can't believe how many of us are in South East London. I'll definitely be walking around wondering now, especially if I go back to Kings.

twocatsandatoddler · 04/07/2016 18:19

You're all in my old neck of the woods! I was in south London (Streatham) until we moved two years ago when I was pregnant with DS.

FriendlyGhost · 04/07/2016 18:21

I live just outside Croydon! You're all so close!

carrie105 · 04/07/2016 18:47

London I'm at St Thomas' too. DS was born there and they were great. I told DH we couldn't move anywhere out their catchment area until we are done having children. We live in Clapham.
