I never thought that would happen. Quite frightened for our future now.incredibly hormonal and irrational today. I won't be leaving the house for dear of having a complete nervy breakdown! Confused Grin anyone else wish they could have a bloody great big glass of wine today?

Tried explaining to dh that if import taxing on alcohol flies up, clubs will close, people will not be able to afford to go out to drink, ergo, nobody needs doormen, his job has just become very unstable. He thinks I'm being sensational and hysterical. Just hoping the our glorious leaders now don't fuck with nhs maternity services etc before we get these peas shelled.

Hope you're last day at work is lovely, or at least, completely untaxing potato

PotatosMum · 24/06/2016 12:14

Miley yep, today is fairly pointless. I'm mostly boredom eating myself into a coma.
Congrats on getting your maternity confirmation. Exciting times!!!

Lisa I will be leaving as early as I can I assure you Wink

Indi now you mention it I do have some last bits of shopping to do Smile
I hope your back eases up soon, and your other aches and pains get better.

... Hiding in a corner as I'm obviously the only leave voter on the thread and think that as soon as the dust settles things will even out and we can start the long job of working out the legal issues and negotiating trade. After all it is going to be a minimum of two years before anything is finalised and even then it's unlikely that two year clock will start ticking for several months yet.

Don't hide potato! Everyone who was registered to vote is entitled to their opinion, plus I'm sure those who voted leave did so because it was the best option for them. I voted stay for job security more than anything but I did have to really read up on things as I wasn't sure for a long time

StarkyTheDirewolf · 24/06/2016 12:26

potato don't hide, Dh voted leave. He believed the 350m a week to the nhs stuff. I hope you're right and all will be well, but currently probably because I am so emotional I can't see it. I'm frightened that we will be bringing this baby up in poverty.

Feefeefs · 24/06/2016 12:29

Of course bunch come to Scotland! All are welcome here Smile glad you had some nice snuggles this am.

Yay potatoes last day!!

I'm just happy our (me and DH) kids should still be able to get European passport(as I'm Irish) and hopefully that will help to avoid limiting their opportunities, it's already much easier for me to travel to a number of countries than DH though I hope it doesn't get any harder for him.

Feefeefs · 24/06/2016 12:30

Starky have you seen farage already said is was a mistake to say 350m a week would go to NHS and that won't happen?

BunchOfBobs · 24/06/2016 12:34

Thanks Miley Smile

Ugh I feel ill today. Really upset tummy again and just feel sick, don't even fancy eating and that is not like preggo me. Just want some lemon and ginger tea and to nap under my duvet. Accountant meeting is done and dusted and once we pick up the spin bike I can disappear to bed to feel better.
I just want to stop going the loo! Why can we have normal toilet habits, why is it all or nothing with damn pregnancy.

Indi I feel for you with the back ache, mine came back horrendously a couple of weeks ago, sitting on a birthing ball really helps.

Potato enjoy your last day and slack away I say. Definitely don't hide, everyone entitled to their opinion, and at least you voted. 20 odd% of those registered to vote didn't Angry. I reckon they're all at Glasto!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 24/06/2016 12:38

That was one of the first things I saw feefs which was probably what made me start crying because I knew dh would be devastated. I'm really trying to be positive but struggling today.

Sodasoda · 24/06/2016 12:55

Another one here in slight turmoil over the result. Work is a very strange place to be because I work in Westminster for the civil service!!

Hope you're feeling better bunch, hugs.

Enjoy your last day potato, freedom awaits!

In keeping with stripey bump theme of this thread here's my 28+2 bump Smile

Thread #8 - TTC#1 Grads - stripy bump photos ahoy!
PotatosMum · 24/06/2016 12:55

Stark I didn't believe the 350m thing, but I do believe that I'd rather our elected government makes decisions for our country instead of officials in Brussels who are not accountable to the British public. At least then we have some control and I also think that we need controlled immigration... I don't mean stop immigration entirely, just work on a points system like Australia, America and Canada.
I do worry about people who's jobs will be effected but I had to make the decision based on what I though would be best for my family in the long run.

I was still shocked when I found out Leave had one the vote though and I think the next couple of years will be interesting to say the least.

Bunch no to feeling poorly! I had that earlier in the week and it was horrible. Hope you feel better soon!!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 24/06/2016 13:06

potato I understand it, everybody's got to do what's right for them. I'm really trying to get my head round it in a non "we're dooooooomed!" (A la dad's army) way. For me, it's more of a worry that if Farage, Trump etc think it's a wonderful thing, what does that mean for us as women, especially as new mothers, going into the future.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 24/06/2016 13:07

On the positive side of things, I think, for the last couple of days, I'm feeling baby move!

PotatosMum · 24/06/2016 13:14

Stark yay! For baby movement!!! Exciting!!!

I think the world would be better if Farage and Trump jumped out a plane without a parachute!... Can't help but like Boris though Confused

On a completely unrelated note. Does anyone have an over locker? Are they easy to use and worth getting? I already have a nice sewing machine but I might put one on my Christmas list if I get into sewing again Smile

OP posts:
BunchOfBobs · 24/06/2016 13:57

Yay for baby movement Starky.
I've had a nap, some dry toast and a lemon and ginger tea and still feel very rough. Pip on the other hand takes me feeling like crap with a vey tender tummy is the best time to dance around like a loon.

Potato I have one, when it works I ADORE it, it makes every sewn edge so neat and professional looking. It makes sewing anything with jersey super quick. When a thread snaps or the tension buggers up then I want to throw it down the stairs.
Research brands and get one that has easy to follow instructions. Mine was an Aldi special (still cost a couple of hundred) and needs a degree just to thread the bastard. But oh such pretty lovely fast seams.
I'm sure I haven't helped at all!!

IndiX · 24/06/2016 14:01

I'm just so glad I live in Scotland and my baby will be Scottish. We didn't plan on living there for more than a couple of years but that may change if they go independent and stay in the EU.
Don't hide though potato you're entitled to your opinion, I just wish there was a plan of action to put my mind at rest.

Yay stark it's the best feeling when you start feelin him/her, did you get the popcorn feeling or proper wriggles and kicks?

Oh bunch get better soon, maybe you just need a nice duvet day/weekend?

shelbTa · 24/06/2016 14:04

Hurrah stark! It's lovely isn't it.

Don't hide potato, democracy innit. Potato - with potato's head being right down, are you getting period pain with it?

Ah bunch take it easy. Have you taken your temperature? I say that as I always get dickey tum when I have an infection.

X

PotatosMum · 24/06/2016 14:18

Bunch thanks Smile you certainly have helped. I'm looking at a brother one on Amazon. It seems to be the most popular low cost one and had lots of good reviews.

Pip and Potato must be very like minded, whenever I feel rubbish her first instinct is to do cartwheels Hmm

Shelb yes, I get period type pain and pushing sensations. They've got worse the longer Potato's head has been down and my hip joints now feel on the verge of dislocating most of the time Sad

Miley, snap on maternity leave! (I guess not surprising given our EDDs are within a few days of each other).

Friday 16th Sept will be my last day in the office as I'm taking two weeks of leave, then starting actual mat leave on Monday 3rd Oct (my EDD).

Well, this is my plan at least. What the baby decides to do is another matter entirely.... Hmm

Stark - great news about feeling movement! It's a strange feeling, isn't it. I've got an anterior placenta so have only recently been feeling anything (25+4 today).

Soda - great bump! Loving the stripey photos. I need to dig one out and join in on the fun.

Pinklily1 · 24/06/2016 14:28

Lovely bump Soda! Also love your dress.

Bunch, hope you are ok, sounds like it's been a rough few days CakeFlowers

Miley, exciting that you've got a start date for your mat leave!

Potato, definitely try and escape early today! So exciting it's your last day Smile

I think a fair few of the 20+% who didn't vote are around the pools in Cyprus to be honest, I've heard a few people say today they didn't bother registering for a postal vote Angry I'm another remain voter but everyone is entitled to their own opinion and can vote as they please. We do work on appoints based system to a degree though already for immigration, but we could certainly make it more stringent!

On a lighter note, why doesn't someone force Boris Johnson to have a haircut?! He's so dishevelled!

Laurenrl · 24/06/2016 14:28

Not particularly bothered what people voted (as I know for a fact my parents voted leave) but I'm a bit gutted that my baby will be born into a divided country, a country that no longer has a proper leader (and won't at time of birth) and into an unstable financial climate. Hopefully whatever happens will all be decided and we will be stable before she is ever aware of it.

Pinklily1 · 24/06/2016 14:28

And yeah for your maternity leave dates being confirmed too Lisa!

Pinklily1 · 24/06/2016 14:32

Sorry for multiple posts, but forgot to ask... For those with the Pregnancy + app, has it lost count of the correct number of days pregnant you are at any point? Mine seems to have lost a day and now thinks I am a day less pregnant than I am Hmm

Feefeefs · 24/06/2016 14:47

Yay starky! That must be exciting! Enjoy that and let that cheer you up, life will go on and we can all find a way to make things work for us.

Hope you feel better soon bunch.

IndiX · 24/06/2016 14:51

Pink mine did that the other day, it reset itself by the next day. Maybe you need to update the app? I don't know, not the most tech savvy person here.

Soda lovely bump! I need to get a stripey top for my next bump pic to match you all

PotatosMum · 24/06/2016 15:56

Pink you can't cut Boris's hair, it's part of his charm Grin
I thought my pregnancy+ was ok but I only log in once a week.

Lauren I'm sure things will have found a new normal by the time our babies are old enough to know anything about it... Whether they agree with what we've done when they're our age is another matter but the worlds always changing and they'll probably have their own things to worry about.

Well, that's it! I have handed in my laptop and ID and been escorted off the premises and am sat in the car waiting for OH who works in the same office no more work for me until May next year, it hasn't quite sunk in yet if I'm honest, it just feels like a normal Friday.
I'm sure it will feel different on Monday when OH heads off to work and I have to stay home and work out how to be a domestic goddess... Or at least find the energy to hoover Hmm
