Aww Bunch you poor thing. Try to relax, I know it's hard but your dad is in safe hands and the Drs will do whatever they need to to get him better and home.
I think you've made the bat choice regarding travel as it won't help anyone to put yourself at risk (even mild risk) right now.
Just keep talking to your mum on the phone and letting other people look after you. Flowers

Bunch so sorry to hear about your dad. But really good stuff that he didnt need the open heart surgery, very good sign.

Sending hugs and speedy recovery . FlowersFlowers Baby can be on cuddle duty for grandad once he/she (cant remember Sad) comes along and be a good relaxing therapy for him Smile

ElleSarcasmo · 13/07/2016 08:32

Oh Bunch, what a terrible shock for you Sad. Good to hear that your Dad is in an expert place. I think you're doing the right thing not travelling too if you can't get medical cover. Hope that you get some good news today. Glad your DH is staying home with you Flowers

BunchOfBobs · 13/07/2016 09:03

I've spoken to mum who's spoken to dad. He has had two stents from what I can gather as one artery was completely blocked and the other was partially blocked. If he hadn't gone in when he did he would have died before making it home apparently.
If he's not allowed home on their return flight my dads sisters are going out to keep mum company and they're nurses so can help put things in layman's terms for mum. The bill is currently between 11 and 20k Shock but that's what insurance is for. I had mum laughing at least as they're trying to claim for critical illness from his life insurance with his prostate cancer and they're saying its not severe enough. Told mum well at least he's a trier to get the money out of them for something Wink
They've got to do another ecg and scan today before he moves hospital and then it's up to the other hospital when he's allowed to travel.
Apparently the hospital and hotel staff are treating my parents amazingly. That's one less thing to worry about at least, and mum has her cousin and husband with her at least for the next 10 days.
DH let out a huge sigh of relief when I said I can't go over, it's not safe for me to travel. It'll only worry my parents too. I may send DH for a few days yet though.

LisaTheSimpson · 13/07/2016 09:22

So glad your sisters can go out there, Bunch, and very handy that they're nurses! Bet that's useful!

Can't believe the bill, that's extortionate. And thank god they've got insurance.

Co5mo · 13/07/2016 09:31

Oh Bunch what a terrible thing to happen. Try not worry about you Dad getting home. He will be allowed to fly after a little recuperation and on anticlot drugs. BA recommend to doctors that a patient can be repatriated by air 3 to 5 days after angioplasty if every thing goes as it should. The general advice you will find on the Internet about flying after procedures like this applies to normal circumstances when a doctor wouldn't want their patent disappearing off on holiday in the immediate period after. Getting a patient home after this sort of event abroad is a completely different matter. All being well he'll be home in no time. X

LisaTheSimpson · 13/07/2016 09:31

Don't know if this has been shared before, but people are talking about them over on my monthly thread - http://tuppenceandcrumble.com/shop/Baby-Star-Wraps-Naturals

They look awesome! Definitely getting one of these Grin

Wish they came in adult sizes...

PotatosMum · 13/07/2016 09:32

Bunch so glad things seem to be going well and that your dads sisters can head out if need be. Sounds like your mum and dad are really being looked after well which must also be reassuring. Smile
Stay positive and keep us all updated x

Right, I must get out of bed and do stuff. I'm having a bit of an off day for no reason at all but I'm hoping getting up and doing stuff will help.

Hope everyone else is doing fine today Smile

BunchOfBobs · 13/07/2016 09:45

Co5mo that's reassuring to know.thank you.

Lisa that star blanket is adorable!!

Potato after being up since 5, eating half a loaf of soreen and going back to bed at 6, I've finally dragged myself out of my pit. DG has agreed to do the 1.5 hour drive to IKEA so I can have a browse. Grin Silver linings eh?! Wink

I'll update you all when I know more.

IndiX · 13/07/2016 09:49

Oh bunch so glad to hear it's not as serious as you first though. I think you've done th e right thing not travelling, your mum and dad seem to be supported and it'll only cause more stress to you and them if you do fly. Sending best wishes to your poor dad, and you!!Flowers

I'm 27 weeks today, slept shit and have a sore back and hip and everywhere else. Had a cry to DH and phoned my mum for a cry too. Going to try to have a lazy morning in bed and see if I can get more sleep. Also weighed myself..don't ask why, obviously I wanted to add to the depression..now gained 19lbs at 27weeks. That sounds like a MASSIVE amount to me, I'm seeing numbers on the scale I've never seen before. Anyway, sorry for my selfish whinge. I'm just feeling sorry for myself but I know things could be a lot worse.

AudreyBradshaw · 13/07/2016 10:08

bunch you poor thing, what a night, but definetly a good thing that your dad had the surgery and is on the mend.

potato sorry you're having an off day, if it makes you feel any better I woke up at 8, but haven't actually done anything other than have tea and swap to a different bed!

lisa that star blankie is beyond adorable! Definetly getting one of those ordered!

We went to ikea yesterday. Has anyone got a drop side cot? And im wondering about feeding chairs. Thinking of just getting the ikea standard poang because it's roomy and big but I can load it up with blankets and feeding pillow so it's more comfy. Definetly getting the footstool too!

BunchOfBobs · 13/07/2016 11:33

Audrey I have the IKEA gulliver with one side removed attached to my bed.
also have an IKEA Jennylund little armchair and footstool that I aim to use as my feeding chair, but I've read lots of people rate he poang. Also adorably you can get the matching kids size one Smile

AudreyBradshaw · 13/07/2016 12:11

We like that cot too bunch . And I love the little mini poang!

I'm just trying to get my head round logistics. Dh will still be on nights, so we'll have to have a single bed in the baby's room for me to sleep in full time, otherwise baby (and therefore me) will be disturbed multiple times when he's getting in from work, getting into bed etc. Can't have a cot/moses basket in our bedroom because Dh will need to sleep during the day and if the cots in there it will disturb him. So chances are it will be moses basket downstairs and cot plus single bed in baby's room, with dh in our bedroom separately for at least the first few months. I'm (at present) far too scared by the prospect of co-sleeping so that's out and that's without throwing dh into the mix. So I want a comfy chair for feeding so I don't get into the habit of bringing baby into bed with me. Whether this will happen remains to be seen! This parenting lark is a lot more complicated that I thought! Grin

Pinklily1 · 13/07/2016 14:08

We've got the poang for a feeding chair. We looked at proper feeding chairs in Mothercare etc but they were so expensive!

shelbTa · 13/07/2016 16:58

Hi ladies

Ah bunch what an awful shock, take care of yourself - easier said than done I know when you are worrying so much. Yeah thank god for insurance eh.

Hope everyone is ok. Pink - we have the poang too!

Sorry not been on much - been reading daily but so busy with work and being pulled from pillar to post with well meaning friends etc giving it 'need to meet for lunch before baby comes' - no, I need to just sit on the sofa and relax. Once on mat leave I'll be back all over the forum!!!

33+2 today.

X

Pinklily1 · 13/07/2016 17:46

Hey Shelb, when are you due to finish for mat leave?

It seems we are all super busy in the run up to baby's arriving! I think we only have one free weekend between now and then Hmm

I've just been to Boots to collect some freebie packs from Emma's diary. I'm strangely excited to get home and see what's in them - one is mum to be, one is family to be and the other is a bump one which I've had before. I like some good free stuff!

shelbTa · 13/07/2016 18:01

Hi pink! Due to finish mid August, at 38 weeks. Determined to power through till the end, totally knackered though! What about you? X

Mileymoocow · 13/07/2016 18:08

pink do you get vouchers through for them? I'm signed up to boots baby club and Emmas diary with the promise of free stud and am yet to receive anything! Frustrating for a fellow freebie-lover hoarder

Another one looking at poang chair, if we bother with one at all.

bunch how you doing? Hope you're feeling better and your dad is home soon.

OH got offered the job, and the company have decided they will honour his 2 weeks paternity on full pay despite him only working there for about 8 weeks before we're due. Brilliant deal! He's much closer to home and isn't working nights for at least 18 months so we're both over the moon. Means it should hopefully be easier to get into a routine

Mileymoocow · 13/07/2016 18:10

Oh, also! I'm keeping track of my cheeky comments, so cheeky comment number 2: "my god your face has gone really round!" - my auntie.

So now I have a huge arse AND a fat face. I know this, why do people think it necessary to point out?!

AudreyBradshaw · 13/07/2016 18:15

I've done the boots club but I won't sign up to Emma's diary after reading some awful things about their practices. So, in the spirit of forewarned being forearmed. They sell on your details to security companies and other places who will post birth send propaganda about how your home isn't safe and you need such-and-such system to protect your new, fragile baby etc. I'm told they use quite hardcore sales tactics with vulnerable new mums. This is, apparently, fairly common but not widely connected.

AudreyBradshaw · 13/07/2016 18:16

Fantastic news for you and dp miley Woohoooooo! Congratulations to dp!

LisaTheSimpson · 13/07/2016 18:32

Miley - congrats to your OH, that's great news! Glad it makes family life easier once your baby is here.

Stardrey - that sounds horrible! I've definitely felt a bit spammed by them (and potentially other companies who I don't know where they've got my email). And the baby isn't even here yet!

AudreyBradshaw · 13/07/2016 18:42

lisa Stardrey! That's brilliant! I love it! With regards to the emmas diary/bought type stuff I'm a bit conspiracy theory and anti-establishment so I had a mooch into it and I've been really shocked by some of it. I get a bit insular with my personal details and some of the bounty practices are bloody hair raising, especially on post-natal wards. Some reps will out and out lie to your face. There was a fantastically illuminating thread in it from a couple of years ago ill try and dig up. And a whole movement/campaign to get them off the wards. 'mutiny on the bounty' I think it was called!

Mileymoocow · 13/07/2016 19:08

Ok definitely stealing that, lisa!

Thanks for the heads up stardry, what a horrendous sales tactic! I can imagine we'll all be feeling vulnerable when little ones arrive. Thanks for the congrats, ladies. He currently works about 50mins drive from home so it will make such a difference to him only being 5 mins down the road.

Pinklily1 · 13/07/2016 19:40

Interesting about Emma's Diary. I've not had anything spam like from them yet - just the weekly email I signed up to. I'll be unsubscribing when baby comes though!

I've heard the Bounty people come round wards offering professional newborn photos, I can imagine they can be pushy.

Miley - my midwife gives out packs which have some freebies in, and I also downloaded the Emma's Diary app, where you get vouchers for packs you can collect from Boots or Argos. They generally contain nappies, wipes, stretch mark cream, nursing pads, that kind of thing.

Congrats on OH's new job Miley, thats good news.

Shelb, at the minute I'm due to finish at 37+3 - a week's holiday followed by the start of mat leave. I'm thinking about cancelling the week's holiday though so starting mat leave at 38+3. I want some time to relax before baby comes, but I don't want to finish 2 weeks before due date and then go 2 weeks overdue! Its such a difficult decision.
