Potato - that seems completely fair to feel a bit down right now, don't feel guilty about it.

It sounds like people had good intentions, but didn't really think it through. After three years, you should definitely get a good send-off!

I'll have been in my office for six and a half year when I go on mat leave, so I'm hoping people do at least notice and make a bit of a fuss Hmm

On the plus side, your manager sounds lovely. So nice of her to get you lots of stuff.

PotatosMum · 22/06/2016 17:20

My manager is lovely and I do appreciate the thought.

I think it was the card that upset me more than anything. I work with a lot of people and have been on several projects in the past few years working closely with a lot of them but only about 6 people bothered to sign it and one just signed from their team, the individuals couldn't be bothered to sign it themselves. It just made me feel like the unpopular kid at school again, especially after the fuss that was made of my colleague who was heading off to get married for the second time last week.

I do know I'm being silly and hormonal. It was just a bit of a let down.

LisaTheSimpson · 22/06/2016 17:37

You are not being silly at all, I completely understand why that would feel hurtful.

At least you won't have to bother with them while you're on mat leave, and you can just focus on potato snuggles. Also - if they're not that fussed, don't send them any info about potato once she's born (they don't sound like they deserve it!). Sending lots of hugs x

shelbTa · 22/06/2016 18:01

Awww potato, I'd say that's a normal woman reaction not hormonal - most of us make a fuss so nice to have a fuss made back. Try not to worry - sounds like your bosses presents were a really kind thought?

So.....turns out after a scan, that the baby's head is so low down its pretty much engaged. Holy shit.

X

BunchOfBobs · 22/06/2016 18:02

Oh potato I would feel exactly the same. I second what Lisa says and don't send them info. Get yourself set up in your own company and then you can sod them.

Evergreen17 · 22/06/2016 18:10

Thanks Potato I wont be getting one for quite a few weeks, but I can write the details on my list Smile
Indi a little bump! How many weeks is that?
Bunch that is a cool bump! Grin

LisaTheSimpson · 22/06/2016 18:11

Bloody hell, Shelb! You're really in the home stretch now.

How do you feel? Is it uncomfortable to have the baby so low?

LisaTheSimpson · 22/06/2016 18:15

Bunch, I second/third/fourth what others have said - comfort is king! Also, you still look great.

Your picture made me think actually (not in a pervy way, I promise!), what is everyone doing for underwear now?

Is anyone into big pants on a regular basis, or more bikini type ones?

I usually wear short-style knickers (like low hip height) but they just roll down over my bump now. Not sure if I should go for granny pants and cover the bump, or go lower and do bikini style.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 22/06/2016 18:27

Another one struggling with undies issues! I need some comfy bras that hold gigantic tits up and I'm getting too hot and bothered in my sports bras, knickers are doing my head in, usually wore smallish ones but Ivery widened out and bought bigger ones and they're even more uncomfortable! I was wondering about seamless type ones from primark or somewhere!

potato that sucks balls, same thing happened to me/dh.except not even a card. Fuck 'em! The bastards!

Feefeefs · 22/06/2016 19:07

Sorry about your UTI shelbta

You look amazing indi!

Danni I second loving the no periods!! I was having all sorts of issues with different contraceptive pills and near constant bleeding, no bleeding for 15 weeks so far is amazing!!

I've been wearing non wired maternity/nursing bras since week 7! My boobs were agony and they're so comfy! Mine are all M&S tried primark but just couldn't get one that would fit right. Not the same back or cup size anymore! I've also gone full granny pants

BunchOfBobs · 22/06/2016 19:33

I'm in a mothercare maternity bra and short style knickers- 2-3 sizes bigger than I was pre preggo. I was in sports bras until 16 weeks. They don't fit any more and I'm fast growing out of my maternity bras but I'm waiting 4 ish weeks so I can get my nursing bras from M&S. Apparently you have to wait until then for measuring and then only buy one until your milk is in. I think I'm just going to get the sleep style as it'll only be a couple of weeks. Infact I probably could get them now as they're just small/med/large sized.

IndiX · 22/06/2016 19:49

Thanks feeds!
Ever I'm 24 weeks todayGrin bump is MUCH bigger right now after going out for lunch and dinner today.....
Potato I'd be really upset too, I don't think you're being silly or hormonal. I wouldn't bother with them while on your mat leave.

Knickers wise I'm wearing my favourite £1 thongs from primark still, really soft and stretchy. Bras are mostly sports bras from asda tbh, I've just been getting biggest size possible as my boobs are stupidly big.

Mileymoocow · 22/06/2016 20:01

I'm in sports bras too, bought a few cheap ones in a large and I'm finding they're getting too tight so going to buy a maternity one at the weekend. I've heard good things about m&s! I'm also in mother care maternity knickers. They don't roll down so are more comfortable for me!

BunchOfBobs · 22/06/2016 20:07

Forgot to say, eek Shelb. Did they use the words engaged?! How exciting/scary. Only scary as it makes it all real. How far along are you again? I got told at my last appointment "he's definitely edging down" Grin

Feefeefs · 22/06/2016 20:07

It's the nursing bra I've got on now bunch Blush stupidly comfortable and looks fine under clothes honestly I can't imagine the sizing is much of an issue, I've got medium now I suppose mighty need large in the end but they are very soft and stretchy and quite supportive

shelbTa · 22/06/2016 20:30

Pants - I'm in large thongs as they seem to cut off the flab the least.

Bunch - yeah, the words engaged were used. I shit myself but the midwife did not seem concerned in the slightest. Don't think it necessarily means she'll come earlier, but just that she's in position early. It feels very heavy down there, but putting it down to uti for now.

X

PotatosMum · 22/06/2016 20:32

Thanks ladies, I'm now a little concerned that I'm turning into a "proper" girl Confused but OH has taken me out for a KFC and informed me that he'll always give me fuss so I'm feeling a bit better Smile

Shelb snap on the low head down baby front. Not long after my scan I started to have inner thigh muscle pain and waddle like a penguin so you'll have to let me know if you get the same Grin

Lisa / Stark I'm wearing m&s high leg knickers. They sit comfortably under my bump. Can't remember the last time I wore fashionable pants Blush

Consultant appointment tomorrow so working from home, Yay! Then last day on Friday, can't wait!!!

Laurenrl · 22/06/2016 21:40

potato completely don't blame you, people often think I wouldn't like a fuss because I don't want people fussing over me constantly, but you're leaving, it's a huge deal! Why shouldn't you get a fuss?

Shelb glad you and baby are OK, must've been very scary!

Look what my clever nan has been knitting for me!! Apparently it's tiny, really cute!

Thread #8 - TTC#1 Grads - stripy bump photos ahoy!
leoniethelioness · 22/06/2016 22:09

Shelb Glad you're OK!

I'm in bikini style knickers a size larger than normal. They are comfy but don't make me feel very good as they don't sit quite right and I feel make me look all lumpy when I'm wearing clothes. 😂 I would like to wear nice underwear again that fits well! Suggestions welcome!

In terms of bras, I've been getting by for the last 20 weeks with three bras in a slightly bigger size but I don't think they are going to last the next 14 weeks. I don't really want to buy any more though until I need nursing bras.

shelbTa · 23/06/2016 04:49

Ah potato that's nice of oh. Man i could eat a kfc!! What did they say about the low down head to you?

Ladies who have had Utis whilst preggo - have you felt a lot of pressure down below when you had them? Uhhhh, 4am stress time.

X

leoniethelioness · 23/06/2016 06:28

All OK, Shelb?

LisaTheSimpson · 23/06/2016 07:15

Hope you're ok, Shelb. Sounds like a bad night Sad

Oh my god, the weather today! So much lightning and thunder during the night, and now it's like someone in the clouds is emptying a swimming pool onto us. Need to plan a waterproof outfit today, me thinks...

Canters15 · 23/06/2016 07:20

Hello from sunny Greece!! We arrived late last night, bit of a nightmare journey- plane delayed by 2 hours, we were booted from the exit seats (which we always book due to the leg room)due to me being preg, there was no room left in business class even though we'd have happily paid to upgrade, so ended up having to sit in the back row of the plane which has the least leg room. Total first world problems I know but I was squished and uncomfortable! Anyway here we are and the sun is shining, very happy.

potato I would be gutted too lovely, I can't believe you just got a crappy card. Are you going back to that job after baby? Focus on mat leave now and try to forget your rubbish work mates, I'm sorry they behaved that way.

Knickers- I'm wearing the h&m mat hipsters, they're the only thing I find comfy which is odd as I'm normally a thong wearer!

leoniethelioness · 23/06/2016 07:24

I can't get on with thongs at all. Didn't know H&M did mat knickers - I'll have a look.

Remember to vote today ☺

Sodasoda · 23/06/2016 08:10

shelb - that's exactly how I've felt when I've had UTIs during pregnancy (3 so far) - lots of pressure down below but no other symptoms really. What antibiotics are you on? Hope you feel better. The pressure is totally normal I think and isn't helped by baby sitting there!

I had a lovely time at the mothercare event last night and finally bought some baby things! I bought the chicco next to me cot, got a great deal on a tommee tippee starter kit thing, a couple of really cute gro-swaddle things and stocked up on maternity pads, bed protecting sheets, breast pads and all manner of disturbing paraphernalia!!

potato - I hope you're feeling better today. It's a shame your work colleagues didn't do more for you. At least you don't have to worry about them now.

I'm working from home today as I have my growth scan this afternoon. Really looking forward to seeing baby again but also a bit nervous about it.
