Also, be aware that your 36th week is technically once you're turned 35 weeks (i.e. you've done 35 weeks, so you're now in your '36th week').

So you need an airline that lets you go up to week 36 or your 37th week (which sounds like you would need to go asap).

LisaTheSimpson · 12/07/2016 17:28

Check skyscanner.net

I'm seeing flights to Cyprus tomorrow with Aegean Air, EasyJet, Monarch, and Blue Air.

(sorry for all the messages!)

IndiX · 12/07/2016 17:37

Bunch I'm so so sorry. It's such a hard situation to be in, look on skyscanner as Lisa says. I really hope you can get over there ASAP. Sending you lots love and best wishes to you all X

BunchOfBobs · 12/07/2016 17:37

Oh ack really Lisa? Worst case then I fly out tomorrow or Thursday and come back Saturday.
Looks like I can fly BA from Heathrow or easy jet from Liverpool. So there are flights and they both take up to 36 weeks but obviously I need to phone them to clarify what that means to them. My mum doesn't want me travelling but if I can I need to go.
DH on skyscanner now.
Frankly I'll take any airport.

So sorry to hijack the thread. Feel free to discuss pregnancy symptoms, the distraction is a welcome one. I've had my cry. I'm okay now until I find out how he is and whether or not I can fly.

LisaTheSimpson · 12/07/2016 17:41

Don't be sorry at all. Anything you need, anything we can do, just shout. We can help research or phone if you need it.

BunchOfBobs · 12/07/2016 17:45

Just heard from mum. She's spoken to dad. Sigh of relief. Two blocked somethings (mum is saying chambers, I suspect not) which required a stent and a balloon. He didn't have open heart surgery, but instead they went in through his wrist. They still want him in for awhile but I can't do anything until I know how long, so tomorrow. So no more flight looking for me. Mum sounds so much happier now she has spoken to him.

LisaTheSimpson · 12/07/2016 17:48

Oh, I'm so pleased. Good news!

Sodasoda · 12/07/2016 17:49

What an awful situation for you bunch, I'm so sorry. I definitely understand that you want to be there. Hopefully you'll get a doctors note, if you don't and you go with an airline where you don't need a doctors note do just make sure you take a letter with your due date on to prove how far along you are if you're asked.

Thinking of you Flowers

Sodasoda · 12/07/2016 17:50

Ah cross post - great news bunch

leoniethelioness · 12/07/2016 18:01

Try to relax tonight, Bunch xxx

BunchOfBobs · 12/07/2016 18:05

Thanks again everyone. I'm going to try Leonie. Currently pacing. DH is cooking and then it's hypno breathing and possibly a bath. DH has eaten half a packet of biscuits in his stress. I've had a nectarine and milkshake and my body weight in gaviscon. Ahh the different ways we deal with things.

I can't keep still.

Danni89 · 12/07/2016 18:07

Omg bunch... Thinking of you all x

Pinklily1 · 12/07/2016 18:27

Oh Bunch, I've just seen your posts. So sorry to hear about your dad Flowers Its stress you don't need, hopefully he will make a speedy recovery. Take care of yourself.

Just in case you do go - I flew with Thomsons when we went to Cyprus a few weeks ago and they didn't ask me for a letter outbound but on the return journey from Cyprus they asked to see my doctors note, so you will definitely need one. The flight itself was fine - you would just need to get up and move around a fair amount to try to help your hips.

Indi, my gym pants are from Mamalicious. I got them from ASOS but they also had them on the mamalicious website. They were £32 I think and have lots of stretch in the bump area for expansion! I've also got some from Mothercare which are really comfy and were cheaper - I'll post a link in a bit.

Miley, yes to bleeding gums. Dentist told me there's nothing that can be done and that it's a common pregnancy side effect. He said just to keep brushing, flossing and using mouth wash.

Potato, what a farce with the course organisation! Was the course itself any good?

mayago · 12/07/2016 18:28

Oh Bunch! I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I hope you get out to see him. I wonder how airlines decided which pregnant ladies to check how far along they are, and which ones to let slide.

Skyscanner is a great site, and if it gets too stressful you may wish to try calling Flight Centre, give them your requirements, and ask them to call you back with options.

Pinklily1 · 12/07/2016 18:31

Indi, they seem to have sold out of the Mothercare pants on line, but this is the top in the same pattern to give you an idea. Hey might have the pants in store I suppose.

Canters15 · 12/07/2016 18:44

Bloody hell bunch!! I'm so sorry about your dad. I'm sure he's in good hands but Christ what a trauma for you all.

lisa, I'm so reassured by your lack of weight gain as I haven't gained anything yet either and was a little concerned (only 21+3). Was your midwife fussed about it?

Yes to whoever was chatting about cm, I'm having the same issues here!

LisaTheSimpson · 12/07/2016 18:50

Canters - my midwife was really pleased by it. As I had some to lose before pregnancy anyway, they don't want me to gain too much (makes sense).

She said to probably expect 4-5kg between now and delivery, and then says I could be lighter than I was before pregnant after delivery. (Not going to say no to that!)

I can actually still fit in some of my clothes (size 14, 5ft 9), so I think I've mainly changed shape, and any fat I had has come round to the front to form the bump Grin

LillianFullStop · 12/07/2016 19:52

Oh no bunch sounds like you've had a rollercoaster day - at least you've had some reassurance after speaking with your mum Flowers

lisa up until 21w I'd only gained 1kg too - I think I lost some in first trimester so maybe it was down and up again. Belly has popped out now as I was told it would at the 6month mark! uterus has grown and moved up and I've gained 3kg just in the last month!

PotatosMum · 12/07/2016 20:48

Bunch I'm so sorry about your dad, but good news that he didn't need open heart surgery. Hopefully they won't need to keep him too long before he can come home.

Soda don't worry about baby overheating too much. OH has reliably informed me that baby will let you know in no uncertain terms if he's feeling uncomfortable Wink

Lisa congrats on T3 Smile

Indi if your everything hurts I think it just means you're on schedule. Sadly it's just something you get used to.

NHS parenting class was a waste of time, unless you've had your head in the sand for the past 8 months and haven't done any research (or ever watched OBEM). Still, it got me out the flat for a few hours.

Mileymoocow · 12/07/2016 21:42

bunch glad to hear that it wasn't open heart surgery bit still it's something you (and your poor dad) could do without! Time to put hypnosis birthing exercises into practise and please look after yourself.

potato oh bloody hell! I might not bother with them at all. I was warned they were all pretty useless except the breastfeeding one!

Baby has been going nuts the past couple of days. I'm starting to worry as s/he has what resembles a fit every so often... lots of rapid move for about 5-10 seconds.

PotatosMum · 12/07/2016 22:13

Miley I wouldn't worry, Potato does that too... Maybe they're having a bad dream, or getting a bit frustrated with the lack of space. They could even be playing, who knows Confused

AudreyBradshaw · 12/07/2016 22:22

bunch thinking of you and your mum and dad. What a horrible, stressful day for you. Definetly good news it wasn't open heart surgery, and all my positive thoughts and prayers the your dad has a swift recovery. Flowers

IrregularCommentary · 12/07/2016 23:49

Oh Bunch I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. Relieved it wasn't quite so bad as it initially sounded though. Really hope you manage to get out to see him.

I have a few dr friends who are pretty much blasé about stents - they really view them as fairly minor procedures and nothing to be too worried about. Not at all how you're feeling I'm sure, but I bet he looks a lot better than you'd imagine xx

Sodasoda · 13/07/2016 05:15

Morning everyone,

Hope you managed to get some sleep bunch

Sorry your class wasn't very useful potato.

I'm actually on the train from London to Cardiff. Just set off. Mightily unimpressed! Big work event today but once today is over hopefully things will be calmer - no more events at least. Knackered zzzzzzzzz

BunchOfBobs · 13/07/2016 05:40

Morning all. Thanks for all the kind messages

Slept on and off soda. Well and truly awake now and have had a blub already.
Did a bit of reading around last night (tut tut naughty) and looks like he's had a primary angioplasty for the heart attack (the stent being put in). The biggest thing now is finding out how much damage has been done to the heart from the heart attack. Mum is all "he'll be fine and we can get him home soon" but standard procedure in the U.K. Is a tonne of tests and certainly no flying for a number of weeks as he's at risk of throwing a clot. So therein lies the problem, how do we get him home?
Obviously it's all up in the air as we don't know anything yet. He's in one of the best cardio hospitals in the world apparently (thank fuck) but being moved today back to the hospital by mum so at least she can see him every day. This happened on day 2 of their holiday Sad it'll impact his prostectoctomy too as that's scheduled for September 1st. I doubt he can have more surgery until completely healed. It all massively sucks.

I've done more reading around airlines- I can get compassionate grounds to fly if the airline agrees and I can get insurance up to 36+6 BUT they won't cover childbirth etc so there's no point to it. Travelling after 30 weeks apparently puts me at risk of preterm labour and thrombosis is a much bigger risk. Even if the airlines agreed I don't think I can go- even though gp has written me a letter. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I'm trying to see some positives- I think I should be able to convince the sonographer for a photo on Friday to send to mum and dad via text at least and if his prostate surgery is delayed at least they can be around when pip arrives.

I wish heartburn wasn't stress affected. I feel like I've swallowed a fist which only lets up to allow burning acid up and my stomach is killing me from the acid. I've literally yesterday picked up my latest gaviscon prescription and I'm having to put my repeat request in today again. DH staying off work with me and his parents have offered to come up earlier Thursday and stay as long as I need them. So glad because no way I could face a day alone today. Or this week really.

Sorry for the really long message. This is an amazing place to offload and thank you all for being here to allow me to.
