Elle I think how many layers baby wears depends on the weather.

My dressing gown is woolly which is normally great but I feel like I'm carrying my own personal hot water bottle at the moment... I will be advising anyone I meet who is thinking of getting pregnant in future to time T3 so that it's in the winter!

Pink impressive bump! You've done well to get this far without any painful movement Smile

Thanks for the reassurance ladies. I don't really care what other people think but it does cross your mind.

Has anyone seen those cute little bears you can make out of baby's first outfits? I'm thinking of making one. You just save a few of your favourite sleep suits and cut the bear pieces out of them to make a patchwork. I think I'm going to do that for Potato when she grows out of things and then give the ones I don't use to charity Smile

Morning ladies,

I'm waiting until after my baby showers to buy anymore clothes, I have a couple of sleepsuits and a snow suit in 0-3 and 1 sleepsuit in newborn. I'll probably start buying in September when I know what I'm missing on my list.

Pink you look fab! Where are your gym leggings from? Mine are starting to give me a muffin top as my waist is expanding Sad

Potato I wouldn't worry what other people think, just enjoy the class. A lot of my friends went alone either because their DH's couldn't make it or they wanted to go by themselves. I'll probably have to go alone too depending on the class times. I've heard the dads get a bit left out anyway tbh.

Elle I'm sure the repeat scan will be fine and I agree with everyone else, take it as a positive your seeing your little one again. Glad everything was well with what they could see.

Soda yes to the CM. Been having it for a while, some days worse than others. Another attractive pregnancy symptom.

Hope you are all feeling well, I'm starting to feel Beanie kicking/punching/stretching in the night now. It doesn't completely wake me up but I'm aware of it. I'm sure I'll be waking up with knees in my ribs pretty soon..

Co5mo · 12/07/2016 11:15

Leonie I've only fully read the what to buy section of the Gina Ford book. So far the advice seems pretty sensible for example she says to just buy white sleepsuit's and vests for a newborn because they leak from both ends and you'll want to wash at high temperatures so colours are not the best idea.

Having flicked through the more contraversial bits, I suspect if you followed to the letter you and baby wouldn't have a life but the general principal of routines etc seems reasonable.

I would think the GF book is worth a read if you agree with setting routines and are not going to worry you are being hard on baby but if you would prefer to let baby take more of the lead and want to take things as they come I don't think it would be for you.

AudreyBradshaw · 12/07/2016 11:35

I'm using a mix of Dr.Jolly and Dr.Spock. The basic principles seeming to be 'if baby is crying: feed it, wind it, change it, cuddle it. If baby is still crying, repeat the first four steps until it stops crying' Grin

Mileymoocow · 12/07/2016 12:00

Yes to CM here, too soda. I have a lot of it and like bunch, sometimes think I've wee'd myself a little! Blush

I was under the impression vests went under just about everything but plan on just layering up/down as weather dictates.

I'm absolutely starving today. Not really felt genuine hunger like it, up to now it's mostly been greed. Had weetabix and a banana for breakfast and a cheese/cracker thing at around 10.30 and am still ravenous Confused so this is going to be a thing now, isn't it?! I'm going to be bloody enormous Grin

Has anyone suffered bleeding gums? I've never had bother with them but recently been bleeding when I brush and sometimes when I eat if its tough work (like a crusty breadbun).

AudreyBradshaw · 12/07/2016 12:28

miley I look like I've bitten the head off a live chicken when I'm cleaning my teeth. Genuinely and with absolutely no exaggeration. It runs down my chin and my neck. Dh was nearly insisting in taking me to the hospital the first time he saw it. I have a teeth cleaning chin flannel now! Grin Ive found corsodyl swish after a brush sort of stems the flow a bit.

Mileymoocow · 12/07/2016 12:31

Oh god stark! Mine would probably be the same but I have low blood pressure so I only get a little bit luckily I'm a bit of a pansy with blood isn't pregnancy sexy! Hmm

AudreyBradshaw · 12/07/2016 12:32

And I have to wear a lift pad all text time now because of cm, sometimes if I sneeze it shoots out of my vag.

BunchOfBobs · 12/07/2016 12:32

Audrey that's going to be my attitude too. I'm not too keen on routines for baby in the early days and I plan on baby led weaning.

Miley yes to bleeding gums and eating some things aches my teeth. Gingivitis is a common pregnancy symptom. Some of my gums like to swell too.

Audrey that sounds pretty dire. Cordosyl seems a sensible option.

Danni89 · 12/07/2016 12:37

I Sometimes get bleeding gums when I brush my teeth and I also had I nose bleed the other day, which I've only had once ever before

BunchOfBobs · 12/07/2016 12:47

Also I've just got back from a financial health check at the bank and a trip to Tesco and noticed I only blushed one cheek this morning Hmm Ah well.

BunchOfBobs · 12/07/2016 12:56

Is anyone keeping an eye on prime day sales on Amazon. Lots of baby deals. They only last a couple of hours so I keep checking back.

PotatosMum · 12/07/2016 13:14

G'ah! My faith in the hospital midwives ability to organise anything is at an all time low. I arrived at the hospital and asked reception where the class is as my letter only says 2nd floor... They sent me to women's health who knew nothing about it, eventually she told me it was at the birthing centre but she had no idea where that was... I found the birthing centre, it was THE NEXT DOOR DOWN! They however had no idea what I was talking about and knew nothing about the class. They tried to send me (and some people who arrived after me) back to women's health but I was having none of it. After about 10 minutes they found out where it was but we were told to go away and come back at 13:30 on the dot as we can't go in a minute before Hmm piss up and brewery come to mind!

Miley no bleeding gums here but apparently it's quite common.

Danni I get nose bleeds literally all the time Sad

Sodasoda · 12/07/2016 13:23

Thanks for CM reassurance, think I'll just stick a party liner on - it's soaking through pants on some days Blush

Yes to bleeding gums. danni I've never had a nose bleed before and I still haven't had a proper one but every time I blow my nose there's blood on tissue now. Attractive.

Hope the parent class goes well potato.

I'm not buying many new born clothes til nearer the time. I have a growth scan at 36 weeks so will hopefully get an idea of how big baby is then and buy within timescale to take stuff back. Friends have also told me they got loads of newborn clothes as gifts so not going to go mad.

Good plan on Amazon deals bunch!

I'm having worries about layering for sleep. I've bought a couple of cute gro bags and newborn swaddle bags but they're 2.5 tog. Currently our bedroom is 23degrees! Way to hot for a baby to wear any sleep suit with any type of gro bag! I know it'll probably be a bit cooler come September but feeling a bit anxious about it.

LillianFullStop · 12/07/2016 13:32

Looking great Pink!!!

elle I've got an anterior placenta too and started to feel wiggles down low at 16w. DH couldn't feel any movement from the outside until 22w and only at the top of my bump not the middle (I guess that's were the placenta is). Now at 25+2 she is filling out in a big way and DH can feel wriggles from outside even in the middle but stronger at the top. It will come! And I second the bladder and bowel area kicks/punches being quite uncomfortable! Little one is getting stronger so there is a real thrust to them now as opposed to the soft pokes early on.

LisaTheSimpson · 12/07/2016 15:22

Co5mo - that's interesting about the GF book, thanks for sharing. I might investigate. No idea what I'll actually end up doing (probably just trying to keep the little thing alive for the first month or so!), but good to know what the different advice is.

Third trimester now (28 weeks as of yesterday)! Eeek! Somehow it doesn't really mean anything though - I wondering if 30 weeks will seen more....'meaningful', as it's quite a landmark number of weeks, if you see what I mean.

Another midwife appointment this morning and all seems fine. They say I've only gained 1kg since book-in, which is weird (haven't been weighing myself personally as I didn't want to stress myself out, so can't compare it to anything). I guess it's good though, and I'm sure it will all start piling on soon.

LisaTheSimpson · 12/07/2016 15:24

Lillian - it's lovely when your DH can feel them too, isn't it!

What was his reaction? Mine was a little surprised - I don't think it was like what he was expecting (not in a bad way though)

LillianFullStop · 12/07/2016 15:53

Had bleeding gums too miley and soda I've also had some blood blowing my nose. Would have been quite scary had I not been told it is a pregnancy symptom!

lisa congrats on the second trimester! yes it's lovely when DH feels the kicks! At first he jumped and said: "Was that you???" lol. Nope that's our baby! Now he gets a kick out of putting his face on my belly waiting for a kick in the face!

All starting to feel real now at 25+2 and starting to feel unprepared to bring home a newborn that I'm responsible for. Need those antenatal classes asap as I am now realising I know absolutely NOTHING!

what they can survive on just a teaspoon of colostrum??? what their first poo may not be for a week??? Zero idea on how to breastfeed or bathe a baby either. Freaking out!!!

IndiX · 12/07/2016 15:59

Lisa how have you only managed 1kg?! I haven't weighed myself for a couple of weeks but thought I was doing ok at the 1 stone mark at 25 weeks.

Potato what a joke! Hope you enjoyed the class though.

I've also read the Gina Ford book, I found it quite good and a lot was common sense. It depends how you want to be when baby arrives, I'm quite an organised control freak type person so I think I may lean towards more of a routine but I don't know until she arrives.
Anyone else recommend any good baby books? I go away for a week on Monday and wouldn't mind a holiday read.

I'm currently feeling very sorry for myself. i feel exhausted, my lower back, bum and hip are in agony and I just want to sleep/eat all the sugary shit I can eat. After a pretty smooth 27 weeks so far, I'm starting to feel pregnant nowConfused

LisaTheSimpson · 12/07/2016 16:42

Indi - another control freak over here! [puts hand up]

I think it's a mixture of two things - I wasn't very skinny to start with (slim-ish, but with some weight to lose), so partly I think the bump is using some of the chunk I already had Grin

Secondly, I lost some weight in the first and second trimester when I was really sick, so it's a net gain rather than an absolute one.

BunchOfBobs · 12/07/2016 16:52

So I might be awol for a while. My parents are on holiday and my DH just walked through the door to tell me he's heard from my mum. My dad has had a heart attack and is currently having open heart surgery in Cyprus. Why now? Why this fucking year, prostate cancer and now this and he's supposed to have knee surgery at the end of the year.
I'm waiting on a phone call back from the dr to find out if they will give me a fit to fly letter but really I'm 36 weeks on Saturday and have spd, what are the chances?

He's going to be in hospital at least two weeks. I need to get there.

Mileymoocow · 12/07/2016 17:13

bunch I'm so so sorry to hear Sad I don't quite know what to say other than you're in my thoughts along with your poor dad and mum Flowers

LisaTheSimpson · 12/07/2016 17:14

Oh Bunch, I'm so sorry. That sounds so shit, I just don't know what to say. Poor you, and your poor parents. I hope your Dad is ok.

Unfortunately I don't think airlines will take you, as 35-ish weeks tends to be the cut-off. However, look for airlines that are less mainstream (i.e. ignore BA, and other big ones). Cheaper, more low-key ones might take you.

Norwegian would take you there from a London airport, and they say this:

"You can fly with us up to 4 weeks before your due date without a medical certificate"

So if you could fly asap, you could do it. The SPD wouldn't matter, as they wouldn't have to look at a certificate (take your hospital notes that show your EDD).

BunchOfBobs · 12/07/2016 17:19

Thanks ladies,
Drs are going to call me back to let me know. Problem is I can't seem to find an airline that goes to Cyprus that has seats that will take me. BA, Ryan air and Thomson will all take me up until the end of my 36th week so that's a week Friday but appear to have no seats. I'm so frustrated.

LisaTheSimpson · 12/07/2016 17:22

Where would you need to fly from? What airports would you consider?
