Have you unpackaged it, Shelb? They look great on the company's Instagram but I've not managed to see one in real life.

shelbTa · 03/07/2016 09:50

See pic Leonie - it's a snug fit, but they will be out of by 6 months and then just in snuzpod or whatever. It's still in the plastic though to keep it pristine! Grin

Morning all,
Thanks for all the kind messages.
Thank you Miley, that's lovely of you to say.

Pink I may yet cave and try it but not yet.

So far so good Shelb. I feel a little meh but not on the verge of tears and my pain is at a good level. Snap re baby washing. It's the first day of no rain in a week so I'm getting it all out whilst I can!

I have 4 pairs of the next size up of harem pants to finish sewing today then I have to wait for a fabric delivery this week as I've run out of robbing for waist bands. Ive also just bagged a steal of preloved nappies which has taken a week to organise a so had to get a courier sorted. They should arrive Wednesday/Thursday I have happy post days to look forward to. Smile

leoniethelioness · 03/07/2016 10:00

Looks good! We had decided on a Snuzpod too but with the threat of redundancy looming, I'm looking at cheaper options... Should know the position in a couple of weeks.

DH's parents have agreed to give us money towards nursery furniture (predating the redundancy news - they are very generous!) so I want to spend it wisely. My cousin gave us a cotbed so we have that already ready with a new mattress I got free with my Tesco Clubcard vouchers.

I just need something for our room - not sure if I should just get a cheap cot/compact cot and maybe splash out on the Sleepyhead if he's a bad sleeper. I can't work out what sheets to use with compact cots though!

Danni89 · 03/07/2016 10:01

Morning ladies

Leonie I'm similar to Shelb- I've got the next to me and the sleepyhead too..

I think I may give the massage a go pink Blush

30 weeks today!!

Is anyone else's baby hiccups really quick??

Mileymoocow · 03/07/2016 10:04

leonie We've just gone for a moses basket and stand, ideally I want baby in his or her own room as early as possible, maybe even 2 or 3 months. I know this can be a bit of a taboo subject but a lot of people I've spoken to say it's the best thing they did for their own sanity and theirs and baby's sleep. We're getting one of those angelcare sensors that go under the mattress though.

I was woken up after a lie in til 8 with a cuppa and bacon sandwich this morning. OH had already had the dog out and done the housework. Think he's feeling guilty for buggering off to dubai and leaving me but I'm absolutely fine about it! Bonus Wink

leoniethelioness · 03/07/2016 10:13

Miley My friend put her baby in the nursery at a few months old too. I'm leaning towards a petite cot at the moment with a Sleepyhead. I was going to get a co-sleeper but I am not sure how easy it'll be to get in and out of bed, and I wake up pretty regularly... Did you get your Sleepyheads from John Lewis? I've nor seen them online anywhere else.

BunchOfBobs · 03/07/2016 10:50

Leonie I have a crib for downstairs so a tiny cot, got sheets really easy on Amazon.
I then have an ikea gulliver attached to our bed with one side off and a cot bed in the nursery.
Baby will be in with us for the first 6 months as per SIDS guidelines, also with the night feeds and I'm planning on ebf I don't fancy the middle of the night fully waking up to trek into the nursery. I'd rather just reach next to me and there he is.

IndiX · 03/07/2016 11:20

Morning ladies.

Miley I wanted baby in her own cot from as soon as possible too tbh.
I'm so clueless with what's best though, I thought you could put a newborn in a cot and she would be fine but it would just be more of an inconvenience in the middle of the night getting up and down. Hearing about the SIDS risk and now thinking if I do go ahead with a c section I won't be able to get up and down that easily, so now I don't know what to do.

Please can someone help with what the different sleeping options are for newborns? I'm not in to the co-sleeping arrangement personally but I don't know if a Moses basket, side-crib or a sleepyhead don't actually know what that is is best?
Help!?!

Feefeefs · 03/07/2016 11:21

I think we're going to go with a snuzpod, mainly for the ease of bf. There is a company that rent beside cots too www.bednest.com/ they give you a new mattress etc.

PotatosMum · 03/07/2016 11:59

Leonie/Indi I have a Moses basket. I'm not a fan of co-sleeping and as I'm bottle feeding I'll have to get up anyway. I'm then going to pop the Moses basket into her cot bed after 6 months and go from there. I've decided on a Motorola video monitor with a binatone movement senior for then. During the day I'll put Potato down for naps in the pram attachment of my travel system at first and when she's a bit older I'll start putting her down in her cot to get her used to her bedroom.

Bunch glad you're feeling a little better. Sounds like you're going to have lots more crafting to get on with.
I've nearly finished stitching my carousel horse, just the border left to do Smile

Danni congrats on 30 weeks Grin

Going to see if I can find the baby monitor I want today. It's the last big thing we need I think Smile

Thanks potato I've just be speaking to a friend and she had her DS in a Moses basket for 10 weeks and then slowly started getting him used to his own cot. There's so much conflicting advice out there it's so hard to know what's best. Also potato we bought our baby monitor yesterday at mamas and papas, there was a big sale on plus we have a discount card so we got it for £73 instead of the rrp £150! It's got great reviews, I think it may be the same one your talking about?

PotatosMum · 03/07/2016 13:35

Indi yep, that's the one we're going for but with the sensor as well Grin

I know there's lots of conflicting advice but with sensors and video monitoring I think it will be fine to pop her in her cot for naps from 3 or 4 month. I'll definitely be keeping her in our bedroom at night until 6 months. OH wouldn't mind keeping her in our room longer but I would like to instil sleep routine as soon as possible, also I'm a really light sleeper so I'll be waking up every time she so much as twitches while she's in our room Confused

On the loooong train journey up to Glasgow....

Snap danni! We've got a sleepyhead plus a next to me cot. I figured the sleepyhead could be used during the day for naps too. Didn't want a Moses basket as space is at a premium in our flat and they only last about 3 months so would need to get something else if baby stays in our room for 6 months. We're intending to do that but we'll have the cot set up in the nursery if it's too disturbing having baby with us. My mum keeps telling me I lasted 2 nights in their took as a baby!

I think someone asked about sleepyheads - you can get them on Amazon too. I got mine from NCT shop with a discount - great heads up from danni Smile

Re monitors - would an angelcare breathing monitor thing work under a sleepyhead / next to me cot? Not too worried about getting a sound monitor as we have a small flat do will definitely be able to hear baby wherever we are! But like the idea of the breathing thing for reassurance.

Glad you're feeling better today bunch

Baby has really ramped up movement in last week. I still don't get huge kicks but I feel squirming almost constantly and my belly properly moves a lot, it's quite weird but definitely reassuring! Although I wasn't feeling like that at 3am today... Hmm

Danni89 · 03/07/2016 16:42

Glad to be of assistance soda! And snap with the constant squirming and belly moving- sometimes I feel like I'm on a ride or something lol

leoniethelioness · 03/07/2016 17:21

Thank you all for the cot/crib advice. I'm thinking of getting this www.mamasandpapas.com/product-petite-cot-white/ctpe02700/type-i/ plus a Sleepyhead now... Are Sleepyheads okay for overnight sleeping or just daytime naps?

leoniethelioness · 03/07/2016 17:22

Soda I think some only work if you have a sprung mattress so worth checking out first.

PotatosMum · 03/07/2016 17:27

Hello ladies, I've been out shopping again and bought a changing may for at home (not bothering with a changing table) and a baby Einstein play gym, I also got a rattle thingie which makes the best sound ever (I may change my opinion on that after listening to it for hours on end). There honestly can't be much else I need now.
I'm absolutely shattered now.

Is anyone else feeling a bit breathless. I know it's normal because all my internal organs are squished but I do feel quite light headed quite often just because I don't think I'm breathing deeply enough Confused

OP posts:
BunchOfBobs · 03/07/2016 17:40

I love a good shopping day Potato. Yes yes to the breathlessness. It's delightful. Definitely feeling Pip push my lungs into a smaller size.

I've washed all my baby clothes apart form the 6 pairs of harems left to make. Oh my there's so much!

Also, how massive are my breast pads?! I near wet myself laughing when I saw them. I'm hoping my naps will grow with the milk and then they won't look so massive.

Bunch GrinGrin
Maybe they are so big to help them stay in place?
Nice nursery Smile

Evergreen17 · 03/07/2016 18:07

Small rant
So I am a bit bored at 7 weeks so I allowed myself to look into these cribs people were discussing
So this Chicco next to me I have seen for 130 pounds new in some sites. Isnt it a bit cheeky that the ones I have seen people selling second hand on ebay are 100? I mean, shouldnt they be a bit cheaper?

Thats my rant

You can tell I am bored Grin

Evergreen17 · 03/07/2016 18:08

Correction: actually people asking for 110 or 110 plus 15 postage!

Newmrs22 · 03/07/2016 18:11

I've ordered a next to me for the first 6 months. We haven't bought a proper cot yet. I figured if baby is in with us for so long we don't actually need it yet.

Haha bunch those are massive!

Pinklily1 · 03/07/2016 18:11

Holy cow Bunch, they are huge! I've bought some but not opened them yet. I expected them to just be big enough to cover the nipple Blush. I stocked up on more maternity pads yesterday - the delights!

I've spent the day looking at cars, wedding dresses and mother of the bride outfits for my mum - now I'm bamboozled and my head hurts!

Potato - we looked at the Baby Enstien mats, they are really nice. I get breathless too - going up a flight of stairs seems much more of a challenge than it did pre-pregnancy.

IndiX · 03/07/2016 18:19

Yes bunch they are enormous aren't they!! I bought some to wear to the gym as I was getting really sore sensitive nips, they are bloody massive though.

Thanks for the sleeping situation advice ladies, spoke to my friend and she did calm me down a bit. It's all so overwhelming, there's so much info to take in.

Soda Beanie has also kicked it up a notch in the last week or so. She loves to do rolls atm and kicks me very hard when I'm (she's) hungry.

And yes ever over the last few days I have found anything 'baby' related is double the price you expect it will beHmm
