Hi ladies,

Ever what you've described is completely normal. OH will get used to your hormonal outbursts, I still have them now at 25+3.

Miley I thought I may be having BH last week as I felt really crampy, like bad period pains and my belly would go quite hard. I put it down to my belly just stretching inside but I don't know now. It feels a little early to be having BH.

Pink we ended up going for the pebble plus with the isofix (DH insisted that it was the best and we NEEDED it), I'm not too bothered about car seats as long as they are safe for Beanie and can fit on my iCandy if needs be.

We also got a great deal on our baby monitor, went for a Motorola video one plus we bought a Tommy tippee nappy bin that was only sale from £35 to £13- I wasn't bothered by a bin but my friend really recommended it- the refills are pretty expensive though!
We also bought some new bedding for our bed so I can't wait to get in it tonight, my whole pelvis feels like it's been ripped apart and I can hardly sit/stand/walk but hopefully a chilled day tomorrow will sort me out.

Oh yeah, what does everyone think about bumpers? Are the safe/necessary? They come with pretty much all the bedding sets I've seen but I've heard that they aren't safe but not sure what alternative there is?

shelbTa · 02/07/2016 20:45

Evening ladies

Pink - glad you enjoyed it, we had our second nct today. Things I learnt - even more sure I don't want an epidural and (cover your ears miley (i think it is?!)) I don't think I want a section if possible because of the recovery time. Also the bloody induction drip sounds really hardcore.

Ever - don't worry, we've all had hormonal outbursts!!

PotatosMum · 02/07/2016 21:02

Stark your 12 week scan sounds awful. At all of mine there's been a screen on the wall in front of the examination table and the operator has addressed me and ignored OH completely. Maybe you should complain.

Ever I think you may need to accept that normal will be a very far away concept for the next 9 months. But don't worry, you do get used to being a nutter Grin

Indi I think bumpers are considered unsafe in the early days. I've git some but I'm not sure when it's safe to use them. I was going to look it up closer to the time. I've got breathable mesh sides fir the cot that lots of people recommend. They stop baby getting arms legs etc. Stuck in the slats (which apparently is a common problem) but are a sort of woven mesh that ties into the cot.

Oh, and you have my sympathies with the pelvis pain. I have that literally all the time Sad

So, I've got the tummy ache from hell and to make it worse Potato has decided to fertle about Sad feeling a bit sorry for myself but OHs fine so at least I know it's not because of the stir fry. Speaking of OH, he was out for a grand total of 2 hours (including walking too and from the pub time) so much for staying out late lol Smile

Miley I didn't think Braxton hicks should hurt, they should just be a tightening as far as I've read and that's what a get. My bump goes rock solid, it can be quite uncomfortable but I wouldn't say painful .

Ever sorry to say the complaining doesn't stop, infact it gets much worse in T3 Wink

Indi bumpers are considered a SIDS risk so not recommended for use until after 6 months. I'm not keen on them personally so don't think I'll be using any, but saying that if I have an arm flailer at 6 months I may change my mind.

I'm getting quite fed up of feeling so fed up and down now. I'm an utter misery and it's pissing me off. Yesterday we had to go buy me new shoes, I'm officially a size up and my osteopath told me off for wearing flip flops. I was not happy about having to buy fugly trainers (because I didn't want to spend much for a few weeks wear) and whilst DH was paying I was say staring into the shoe mirror-
Omg don't ever do it. Worst angle ever, purely focused on the Chins and worst angle of the bump and when DH returned to collect me from the seat I was in tears.

Today ribbflare seems to have set in and it HURTS, also my back and hips hurt a lot from yesterday's walking and I'm just fed up of being a misery. I'm so excited about Pips arrival but the pain and discomfort I'm in is really getting to me these last couple of days. Still i'm 34 weeks today so max I've got 8 weeks to go. Sorry for my rant, I've avoided posting much for fear of being a downer but felt the need to vent.

I hope everyone else is okay. Was it you Indi who was having a bad day yesterday? Hope you're feeling better today.

leoniethelioness · 02/07/2016 21:16

Sorry to hear about the shoe nightmare, Bunch. If it is any consolation, I'm a misery guts too right now.

Planeteer · 02/07/2016 21:20

Thanks all. Feeling a bit better today. Pancake moving more and I took my best friend wedding dress shopping which was lovely. Need to have a v easy day tomorrow though - knackered!

Miley sorry to hear BH got you so painfully. I thought I might be having them yday but turned out to be trapped wind (Blush I'm a delight!)

Pink, Shelb glad to hear NCT is mainly positive thus far. I need to get my arse in gear and sort out some antenatal classes. Doesn't look like there are many in the area I'll be moving to though, and not sure if it's worth doing them in London when I'll be moving away almost immediately afterwards... What do you guys reckon? Worth more research in new area? Anyone trying any alternative non NCT classes?

Bunch never apologise for venting, it's what we're here for!! Sorry you're feeling miserable, it's rotten. Hope the next few weeks pass quickly for you - not long til he's here!!

Pinklily1 · 02/07/2016 21:27

Shelb, our session today was labour and birth, then next weeks is post birth - bleeding, stitching and all that jazz. She covered pain relief today but didn't mention a drip for an induction at all, though I've read separately about it. She was a big advocate for water births and also, as a side point, assumed everyone would be breast feeding, which was a bit presumptuous of her. I suppose each teacher focuses on different things.

shelbTa · 02/07/2016 21:27

Aww bunch never apologise! Hugs. It's a total fucker the down days, and catching the wrong angle in the mirror is savage. Hang in there -max 8 weeks like you say. Have you considered / are you taking paracetamol for the pain to give you a break?

X

Pinklily1 · 02/07/2016 21:29

CakeFlowers Bunch, it sounds like a shitty time. Hopefully the new shoes will help with the pain, if they are more supportive.

I have to say I'm looking forward to baby coming now, as I'm starting to experience the T3 delights of back pain, harder kicking etc.

Morwenna1 · 02/07/2016 21:32

Managed to find you all - I went AWOL as I've just had a lot to focus on and get sorted and was finding it too difficult to keep up with the fastest moving thread on MN!!

I hope you're all doing well, I'm 34+2 and all is going well! Baby is head down and ready for launch :)

Won't make any promises, but I'll try and jump back on here perhaps when I'm on mat leave!

Mor x

IndiX · 02/07/2016 21:35

Thanks potato/bunch, I wasn't really in to the idea of bumpers to begin with but the woman at mamas and papas said 'they're OK and I would use something' but she didn't give me an alternative. I'll have a look at the mesh things though, thank you!

Bunch yeah I felt shit yesterday and this evening as I am also feeling insecure, fat and in pain never feel bad for venting. It's hard work this baby-making lark, as you say only 8 weeks to go MAX of this pain and ugly shoes and then your lovely little Pip will be here.

BunchOfBobs · 02/07/2016 21:36

Shelb I've considered it but I get insane guilt when I have taken it. I'm already taking tablets daily for heartburn and I just don't want to take anything else that I don't NEED to. Insane I know, but I feel too guilty. I can sleep with the pain, just getting up to pee is a bitch. I can't sleep with the heartburn so I can't drop those meds.

I'm just in a cycle of feeling shitty, acting down in the dumps then feeling more shitty for the way I'm acting. I just want to cry but it's hard enough on DH seeing me in pain all the time.

shelbTa · 02/07/2016 21:41

Aww bunch. I'm sure you're oh wouldn't mind in the slightest if you cried - you are doing all this for the both of you. I know what you mean about the guilt re paracetamol - I've had to take them with this cold, but the hospital and midwife have reassured me time and time again that it's perfectly safe. Have you got any bumps to be groups etc on the go? Us preggo love a moan together - you'd be in good company there of you wanted to offload?

X

PotatosMum · 02/07/2016 21:53

Bunch you rant away hon, it's what we're here for and I totally get it. He pain, discomfort, breathlessness and constant hormone battle is just hell especially when people expect you to be glowing, happy and excited want to tell them to bugger off sometimes and the body dysmorphia that comes with being pregnant is really difficult to deal with and scary.
Like you say though, you're 34 weeks so that means 4 to 8 weeks and you can have your body back!... You won't have a good nights sleep again for the next 5 years but it's not like we get a good night sleep now with all the peeing and hip pain Confused
Stay strong! You're nearly at the finish line and there's wine waiting for you when you get there Wink Flowers
Oh, and take some paracetamol silly, even if it's only for a couple of days to give you a break from the pain. I was told at the hospital that my body reacting to the pain is far worse for baby than a couple of days of paracetamol. You don't have to be strong all the time x

Miley just to add, normally BH aren't painful for most people, some people unfortunately do get quite strong ones.

Mor oh my god, I can't believe how far along you are Grin please keep us posted on how you're doing, we miss you Flowers

Indi I got my mesh thingie at toys r us. It was recommended by lots of people on a mumsnet thread.

I can hear OH snoring in the other room, guess he's given up on me coming to bed. I wouldn't mind but he's taken to stealing gooseberry the pregnancy pillow Hmm
Still in pain from tummy ache and now I've got BH on top of it. Stupid pregnancy symptoms Angry

Pinklily1 · 02/07/2016 23:05

Bunch, I know exercise is off the cards largely, but would you be allowed to swim, or is that just going to aggravate? Just hold onto the fact that it's an absolute maximum of 8 more weeks Flowers

Mor, I can't believe you are 34 weeks! When are you finishing work?

Pinklily1 · 02/07/2016 23:06

Has anyone actually tried perineum massage yet? I was dead set against it it after NCT today I'm beginning to consider it....Blush

Sodasoda · 02/07/2016 23:33

Thanks re NCT class timing pink. I haven't tried perineal massage and wasn't intending to! Why? Do NCT encourage it?

Sorry to people feeling down. Growing babies is tough!

I've had a nice relaxing day but tomorrow I'm travelling from London up to Glasgow for a massive work event on Monday and then back down again on Monday night so really not looking forward to that. I've got another huge event the week after and then I'm sort of seeing that as the end of work - even though I'll have another 6 weeks!

Mileymoocow · 03/07/2016 08:22

Morning all!

bunch sorry to hear about your shitty day and I'm not just saying this but you look incredible! Especially for being 34 bloody weeks pregnant!

indi that's the same car seat we have, too. We do have bumpers because they came in our bedding set but wasn't going to use them unless needed because of the horror stories.

pink I'm genuinely considering it! A lady I work with did it with almond oil and didn't tear at all! She has recommended it to a few people, none of which have torn! May be good luck but may also be the secret to keeping my lulu intact!

Thanks everyone re braxton hicks. Not sure what happened, I was doubled over in pain and couldn't walk Hmm may have to call the midwife if it happens again.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Smile

mor lol at ready to launch!! 😂

PotatosMum · 03/07/2016 08:37

Morning ladies, how are you all today?

Pink nope, no bum hole massage here Confused

Soda hope the trip to Glasgow isn't too stressful.

So, I had my first baby anxiety dream last night. It was really annoying. I forgot my hospital bag, then when we got home I managed to forget the baby twice in different locations and had to speed to go and get her and then I was trying to change her but people kept turning up and distracting me and moving stuff that I needed. Woke up very stressed. It must have been the baby discussion with OH yesterday.
He was telling me that DSS was a really easy baby but DSD was challenging and that because she was a girl he let her mother take the lead in raising her which may have been a mistake because she couldn't handle her and DSD picked up many of her less appealing qualities.
He's planning to let me take the lead raising Potato because she's my "special baby" but he thinks it'll turn out to be a better decision this time. Hope he's right Confused

shelbTa · 03/07/2016 09:05

Morning ladies

Butt massage - I'm considering it, my worry is infection from all the oils etc as in quite sensitive down there. Confused

Bunch how you doing today?

Lower back pain and period pains are bad today, putting down to sitting all day on rock hard chair yesterday.

Guna wash the baby's clothes today!

X

Pinklily1 · 03/07/2016 09:18

Yes, they really recommended it at NCT, and when I realised it doesn't involve sticking fingers up your bum hole, I am more open to it! Apparently a water birth can also help reduce the risk of tearing.

Shelb - eek to washing the baby clothes - that's exciting! I need to buy basics in terms of sleepsuits etc and will then do a washing session.

We're off to look at new cars today, i'll probably start off quite excited and then lose the will to live!

leoniethelioness · 03/07/2016 09:27

I have a cot bumper as it came with my bedding set. It is part of my cotbed bedding set so I'm going to put it on for decoration. The baby won't be sleeping in the cotbed for a while and I'll remove the bumper then. I'm still trying to decide what to buy for baby to sleep in initially.

What have you bought? Moses basket? Crib? Next 2 Me? Snuzpod?

And has anyone got a Sleepyhead?

shelbTa · 03/07/2016 09:31

Leonie we've got a sleepyhead and put it in a snuzpod. Both are pretty pricey but all my friends say they've been worth it - especially the sleepyhead as it's portable.

Pink - I know! Do you feel really excited after the nct?? I do, I just want her here now.

X

Pinklily1 · 03/07/2016 09:35

Leonie, we've got a Moses basket, mainly because my sister gave it to me and we've just replaced the mattress.

Shelb, yes it is exciting, but I'll admit to feeling a bit scared now as well Shock
