Miley, I've tried Deep Heat for running injuries and agree it's crap. I'll try the Deep Freeze, thanks.

Can you change the locks on your house...?! Grin

Feefeefs · 01/07/2016 07:57

Congratulations nev!! How exciting!

I love the smell of deep heat but I didn't think it's that effective either.

My friend gave birth last January and she did say the amount of blood afterwards really shocked her. Her husband nearly brought her back into the hospital a few times but the health visitor said all normal and she was fine!

Need to go to the Physio I think have suspected some kind of pelvic girdle pain for weeks now but it got way better the week I was off. Now awake most of the night and nothing is really comfortable but walking any distance or standing long term definitely worst

LisaTheSimpson · 01/07/2016 07:59

Oh, I've missed so much again! Work has been crazy busy.

Congrats Nev, that's such lovely news! I'm so pleased for you and (soon-to-be) Mr Nev! FlowersStarFlowersStarFlowersStarFlowersStar

Ever, congrats on your little bean! So glad the scan went well!

I am nowhere near as prepared as you guys. We've managed to get a pram (went with the Armadillo Flip XT in the end), and a car seat (but still need the base).

I have at least chosen a cot, changing table, and co-sleeper, but still need to get them. Suppose we should also think about clothes, nappies, muslins, and the rest Confused

Grey, miserable morning here, with lots of rain. Hope other places are better for the start of July!

shelbTa · 01/07/2016 08:16

Just ordered it pink! Good luck at nct - it's a bit intense and crazy but quite good. Is it an all dayer? Ours is six hours tomorrow Blush.

Not selfish potato - I want space too.

X

Evergreen17 · 01/07/2016 08:28

Nevlet congratulations!!!! GrinSmileSmileSmile
How cute!!!

Mileymoocow · 01/07/2016 08:36

Thanks pink, think I'll order it! Grin

Not sure if we've been offered the NCT courses. We got a leaflet on some sessions (pain relief and breathing techniques, breastfeeding feeding etc) think there's about 4 in total. Are they the same thing?

Newmrs22 · 01/07/2016 08:44

pink don't worry about NCT. Parts can be a bit hippyish, they are keen on natural birth, but they provide info on all types of birth. We did a little relaxation exercise once, but that was actually quite nice.

LisaTheSimpson · 01/07/2016 08:44

You have to go and book into NCT courses on their website. You put in your postcode and due date, and they show you what they have in your area

It's quite expensive (£200-£300 depending on the type of course you go for).

www.nct.org.uk/courses

Some people say it doesn't give them more information than NHS courses, but helps you find other woman locally, due at the similar time, to make friends with.

BunchOfBobs · 01/07/2016 08:57

Miley I'd say it's time to ask for the key back or change the locks so that you do get the time to yourself.
We will have our parents visiting immediately then left for a couple of weeks whilst Dad has his op etc.

Potato it's so exciting you could be in in 2 weeks time and it's not selfish atall wanting the space.

Ladies I've just realised I'll meet Pip next month Shock

I'm hoping I take after my mum, she said the bleeding was no worse than a heavy period but it went on for 3 months Hmm She never leaked apparently.
I have my waterproof sheet on the bed for waters so I'm just going to keep that on and sleep on a towel just incase.

Feefs get it logged with your GP asap, it took 10 weeks and tears for them to pay attention to me and finally refer me for physio.

LisaTheSimpson · 01/07/2016 09:03

Bloody hell Bunch, that's come round quickly!

Just think, rather than giving us T3 advice, you'll soon be giving us birthing and newborn advice! Grin

Mileymoocow · 01/07/2016 09:13

Oh my god bunch that is ridiculously exciting!!!!!! Grin I would ask for the key back but I'm far too soft and have no idea how to break it to my smothering 75 year old grandma that she's not welcome any time she wants! I will have to if she becomes ridiculous after baby is born. She annoyed me by telling everyone I was pregnant before I got a chance so I'm still in early stages of forgiveness for that! Hmm she also keeps referring to my baby as 'our baby' which makes me think she is going to be overbearing

Oh I didn't realise you had to book! I might not bother and may just go to the NHS ones. I have a few friends pregnant at the same time so I'm pretty sure I'll be in good company Smile

mayago · 01/07/2016 10:42

Congratulations Ever! It's so reassuring to see the heart beating for the first time.

Congratulations Nev! What a unique proposal.

Potato I am so happy the house situation is moving along for you, at long last!

Miley the only thing you can do it try to talk to her about needing your own space a little more when adjusting to life with the baby. But then if your grandmother is the type to tidy up the kitchen and put something in the oven for tea.. Smile

I am putting my fingers in my ears and singing loudly to myself over the parts of this chat talking about maternity pads. If I ignore it, it's not real!

I have to go into the office next week. I've been avoiding it since it's not that difficult to see a bump now, and I haven't said anything yet. My boss and our executive committee want to restructure in the aftermath of Brexit, and I'm a little worried. Doesn't seem like the best time to announce the pregnancy, so I'll have to dig out the spanx..

PotatosMum · 01/07/2016 10:50

Pink good luck at the NCT class.

We are hoping to be in before the baby arrives at the end of next month but we'll see Smile

Miley I know exactly what you mean about wanting quiet time with the baby. Because OH has already done it twice I don't think he gets it especially as his exw was a bit of a show off so I imagine she wanted everyone to see the baby straight away. I just want a few days with just OH, baby and I before I have to deal with other people and settle into being a full time step mum.

I think you should have a word with your gran, you're going to be constantly on edge if she's wafting in and out while you're trying to establish a routine.

I'm only doing the NHS class, I did look at the other ones but it seemed an awful lot of money and I'm sure I'll meet plenty of people in the area at the NHS one. I'm also going to find some baby clubs when Potato is born so I'll probably meet people there too.

Bunch yay for meeting pip next month, what day are you due again (too lazy to look at the list) I'm due 27th next month so I know you're before then Smile

I've also got the delightful waterproof sheet on the bed and I'm hoping that the bleed isn't too bad for me either as my sisters seemed to be ok.

Morning ladies,
Just had a cry becuase I have a really painful lower back and it's sending shooting pains in to my left bum cheeky and left leg. I want to go to the gym but I know it's silly so I'm in bed catching up on Love Island.
Any of you ladies recommend anything for back pain/sciatica? I think it may be sciatica tbh.

Miley I would say something to your gran if you're going to feel on edge but you may appreciate any help nearer the time. See how it goes but I can't really stand people being overbearing so I think I would have a polite word. See how you feel though.

Potato amazing news about the house, so glad things are moving a long now.

Bunch that is so crazy/exciting that you will have an actual human baby is just a matter of weeksGrin

BunchOfBobs · 01/07/2016 11:14

Unknown it's crazy isn't it. I told DH and his response was "it could be this month" Confused it really could be. I'm 37 weeks on the 27th!!

Miley it might be worth starting to leave the key in the back of the door so she can't just wander it. It'll be much easier to sort it before baby is here.

13th potato. Bang on two weeks ahead of you I think.

Indi that definitely sounds more sciatica related. Try a tennis ball on the area. It'll hurt but hopefully release some of it.

BunchOfBobs · 01/07/2016 11:47

I know, not unknown. Damn phone

Mileymoocow · 01/07/2016 12:41

I know you're all right, ladies. It bugs OH and I no end! We can be sitting watching a film on an evening and they just saunter in, it's like our house isn't our own sometimes. I know it's because they're both retired and bored, plus my grandad loves the dog so will often nip in to go for a walk with him but it's getting ridiculous. It was especially bad when I was ill with HG as I just wanted to be left alone. Plus if she's not at our house then she's constantly texting or ringing Hmm

Anyway! Just gave my boob a cheeky squeeze cause my nipples are itchy as hell and some substance came out! I'm oddly proud if it Grin

indi I feel your pain. I have sciatica in my bum cheek and thigh and it's not pleasant!

Canters15 · 01/07/2016 15:17

Oh miley, you need to knock grandparent visiting on the head- can you imagine boobs out as granddad saunters in?!

I got back from holiday yesterday, to cold and rain. How is it summer?!

Had my consultant appointment today. She was absolutely lovely, she wants me to have a course of cbt to see if we can help change my thoughts on childbirth, but she will see me again at 34 weeks and if I'm still so afraid she'll deliver baby by c section. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders - I can enjoy the pregnancy at last!

Also all fine on 20 week scan, but have to go back later on today as he was hiding his face!

Nevlet · 01/07/2016 15:27

Thank you everyone! No pink I had no idea at all! It hasnt really sunk in yet!

shelbTa · 01/07/2016 15:38

Miley that would drive me nuts. You could doing with them walking in on something no grandparent should ever see - that would halt it!!

This cold is so hard to get over, it usually only takes me a day to shake them off. Can't wait to go home and go to bed.

X

Feefeefs · 01/07/2016 15:39

Oh god bunch! 10 weeks! That's miserable. It's self referral to the Physio here so I have their number, I was going to wait until I got back from holidays to ring but will ring on Monday soon just in case!

Oh god miley "our baby" is scary, MIL does that too. My parents live abroad and because baby is due 12/12/16 they are probably coming to stay for Christmas, first grandchild both sides so I'm expecting an intense time! My parents are reasonably thick skinned so won't be so bad but will have to be careful to avoid upsetting MIL. My dads a brilliant cook as well so hoping he'll do all the Christmas food etc!!

That's how my pain started indi! Apparently it's almost never sciatia in pregnancy and if they tell you that it's usually misdiagnosis. Mine is definitely way better if I rest.

LisaTheSimpson · 01/07/2016 16:13

Congrats on the 20-week scan, Canters!

And glad to hear the consultant appt went well. She sounds very reasonable and understanding about your preferences.

PotatosMum · 01/07/2016 16:22

Indi sorry you're in pain, no suggestions I'm afraid but I'm sure one of the other ladies will be able to help Flowers

Bunch so exciting, soon we'll all be popping like I don't know what Grin

Canters really pleased your consultant appointment went well and she took you seriously. It must be a weight off your mind.

Shelb take it easy, your body's already dealing with a lot so fighting off a cold too is going to be a challenge.

I feel for you guys worrying about parents and grandparents. In some ways I'm happy I don't have to worry about it as the only parent who will be involved already has 5 grandchildren so if he ever was over baring and over enthusiastic he's definitely got it out of his system Wink

My bottle maker arrived today, will be exciting to use it for the first time as everyone says it's the bees knees lol. I also received the follow on diary from my pregnancy diary. It has a section to fill in every birthday up to 18. OH saw it and informed my that everyone thinks I'm all tough but actually I'm soppy Blush

OP posts:
PotatosMum · 01/07/2016 17:25

Was just talking to OH and pointed out the similarities between a tassimo machine and the bottle maker... It was at that point that I realised the bottle maker was probably invented by a very tired person holding a newborn and placing a bottle instead of a coffee cup in their tassimo. This amuses me Smile

OP posts:
shelbTa · 01/07/2016 17:47

Ah potato - have you purchased the machine that makes up the bottles??? We looked at that.
