Congratulations Ever

Hi Soda - I feel for you.

Potato Thanks for the bottle heads up.

Miley It'd be great if you could share your list.

Planet How is baby now?

Lamb dhansak in the oven and DH researching potential job opportunities. I hope it doesn't come to this and I hope that it it does, DH can find something nearby. I like our house and my job and this city. 😕 But clearly I love DH more and we want to be together as a family.

Evergreen17 · 30/06/2016 20:13

Thanks Leonie
Smile

Evergreen17 · 30/06/2016 20:14

I hope it all works out with your DH's job FlowersFlowers

BunchOfBobs · 30/06/2016 20:52

Miley I've packed 10 cloth nappy bits and I'm not buying bottles etc or anything as I think the temptation to use them instead of persevering with breast feeding will be too much for me. It can take 4-5 days for milk to come in. In that time colostrum is sufficient for baby so no need for formula.

Those ready made bottles sound amazing potato. I'm defiantly keeping them in mind if I need them.

shelbTa · 30/06/2016 21:18

Leonie - this lamb dansak sounds good!!! Is it a Jamie Oliver recipe did you say?

New milestone today - too big to do a decent job with the fake tan.

Pinklily1 · 30/06/2016 21:37

I've heard that a lot of hospitals have formula/ ready made bottles in stock and if you go in with the intention of breastfeeding and find that you can't they will give them to you, but if you go in with the intention of bottle feeding and haven't taken your own bottles, they can be reluctant to give them to you. I'm sure it depends on the hospital though.

I'm planning on taking 10 nappies. I've just ordered a navy maternity dressing gown from Mothercare - reduced to £10 in the sale! How many maternity pads are people taking? I know I asked a while ago but I can't for the life of me remember! I've only bought 2 packs so far, 20 in total, but I know I need more!

I'm aiming to breastfeed, but am going to take some ready made bottles in just in case, as I do want to do combination feeding ultimately so OH can become involved.

Congrats on the scan Ever!

Leonie - does there seem to be much around for your OH work wise?

Has anyone tried heat pads or those deep freeze pads for back pain? I'm really struggling sitting at work in the afternoons at the minute, and part of me was wondering if a hot water bottle might help.

Co5mo · 30/06/2016 22:10

If you intend to breast feed I wouldn't worry about taking any ready made or formula with you. They've got milk that you can use if you need it but they'll be reluctant to let you have it if you planned to bottle feed in the first instance. They'll also have pads etc if you don't take enough in with you. While you are asked to bring in things they've always got stock for emergencies because babies don't always arrive at the most convenient time!

shelbTa · 30/06/2016 22:25

Pink - due to the mammoth size of the maternity pads Blush I'm probably going to take about 10 and then a packet of nighttime heavy duty liners.

Wondering about nightwear - I'm going to take a tshirt style nightie for birthing, legging style pjs and strappy top for after (red hot in though places).

Does anyone else's bubs hiccup a lot?!!!! Mine seems to be doing it all the time.

Newmrs22 · 30/06/2016 22:28

I hadn't even thought about how many nappies to take Blush I did buy another pack of maternity pads today after the NCT lady basically told us we'd bleed like nothing you've ever known.

I don't plan on taking any formula either. I'm pretty set on breastfeeding.

The dressing gown sounds good Pink. Do you know if it's lightweight? People keep telling me how hot hospitals are

Congratulations on the scan ever! Lovely little bean.

2 weeks left at work. Wahoo!

Newmrs22 · 30/06/2016 22:31

shelb So the NCT lady said normal nighttime pads won't do and that often people DOUBLE UP with the huge maternity pads at first. I don't even know how logistically you get two of those things in your pants!

Nevlet · 30/06/2016 22:33

Hello! Been away this week for a funeral and with family not had a chance to catch up on the thread!

Hope everyone is doing well. In pure self centred news... OH proposed today!!!!! ShockShock

BunchOfBobs · 30/06/2016 22:37

Shelb Pip has hiccups a lot, it's adorable. I've got a stewpot stretchy dress thing to birth in (though hoping to be in the pool) and it's easy to get skin on skin in. I also have a button shirt thing for afterwards and a shorts and vest set. My MLU is boiling as is the hospital I've frequented.

My MLU where I hope to give birth no longer provides formula as they're so pro breastfeeding but they're also tiny.

Pink I'm taking 2 boxes of maternity pads so 20z. I have 3 in total.** Hot water bottles really help with back pain but I don't find the heat pads touch if.

Nev!! Congratulations!! How did he do it? There's me going ahead and assuming you said yes. Also sorry for your loss. *

BunchOfBobs · 30/06/2016 22:38

Bold fail Blush

Nevlet · 30/06/2016 22:39

I said yes haha! Gave me my birthday present which was a set of car number plates with my initials with his last name. Was very cute!

Newmrs22 · 30/06/2016 22:53

Congrats nev! How exciting!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 30/06/2016 23:05

Congratulations nev amazing news! 👑🎀🎉🎊👰👸👰👼

IndiX · 30/06/2016 23:12

Just popping in, will catch up properly tomorrow. Congratulations nev that's such lovely news and a very cute way to do it!

Danni89 · 30/06/2016 23:22

Congrats nev... Amazing news!'

I have ordered that same dressing gown pink.. Nice and dark in case of leakages Blush

shelbTa · 01/07/2016 06:04

Amazing nev! Congratulations!!

Hmmmm, I've got a white dressing gown for the hospital, maybe not the best choice colour wise is it! Might order that one pink

BunchOfBobs · 01/07/2016 06:38

Nev that's so lovely. I've got a full on cheesy grin on right now Grin

Mileymoocow · 01/07/2016 07:24

Congratulations nev!!!! GrinFlowers what a brilliant way to propose. Lots of exciting times ahead

Maternity pads... cousin also told me that yes, they're big. But they're not big enough! I'm taking about 30 so if need be, I can double up. Also, toddler sheets for your bed when you get home to catch leakages Blush such a sexy time eh!

pink I used deep freeze a lot when I used to show my horses, it was a god send. I also had those disposable ice packs stashed in the freezer! I don't think much of deep heat though

Hope everyone is ok! We have a booze raffle drawn every Friday morning at work. I've just won a bottle of Jacobs Creek vintage chardonnay... god I really want to drink it!

PotatosMum · 01/07/2016 07:42

Morning ladies, how are we all today?

Leonie hope things work out for your OH.

Shelb I'm taking two delightful button down nighties (one to get bloody and disgusting and one in case they won't let me home straight away) some slippers and a maternity dress to go home in. When I had to stay in the maternity ward over night I found it got quite cold in the early hours.
Potato hiccups a lot! But then, I have trouble with hiccups so I figured she was just taking after me Confused

New yay! For 2 weeks left. I bet you can't wait!

That's worrying about that maternity pads, I had bought extra absorbent extra long night pads as the maternity pads I saw looked rubbish. Maybe I'll have to invest in a pack or two of maternity pads after all Confused

Nev woohoo! On the proposal, congrats StarStarStar

Nothing exciting going on here at all. Potato is now so big and lacking in room that when she decides to be really active it can hurt a little bit. Not enjoying that but luckily she mostly fidgets gently.

We're picking up the last bits from OHs old house this weekend so the flat is about to start looking like a warehouse! With any luck we should exchange on our new house in about two weeks. Can't wait to get in, we've now got a plan to decorate all 3 children's rooms and we know what we're doing with the garden. I just want to get in and get started.
We've also sort of agreed that DSS won't move in with us straight away. But will wait until a week or so after Potato's born.
I'm a little worried that DSD is going to want to move in with us though. She's been talking about wanting to stay with us during the week and while I love her to bits she is very demanding and always wants to be the centre of attention and very selfishly I just want to enjoy spending every moment I can with Potato as I know she will be my only baby. Luckily OH wants DSD to stay with her mum too.

Morning ladies!

Congratulations Nev! That's a unique way of proposing! Did you think a proposal was on the way or was it a total surprise?

For those looking at dressing gowns, this is the one I have ordered:

http://www.mothercare.com/Slumber-Chic-Navy-Maternity-Robe/863103,default,pd.html&loadMoreCurrentStatus=1&returnCgid=mat_nightwear&returnSrule=null&start=20&returnScrollPos=604

They are short on stock so I've ordered a size up, but figure that'll be fine in a dressing gown. There is also a similar charcoal one for the same price.

Shelb, I think dark dressing gowns are recommended, in case of any leakage Blush

I need to stock up on basics for babies, sleep suits etc, will add those to the list of things to get! I thought I was quite organised but we still seem to need a fair amount of basics.

We have our first NCT class tomorrow. I'm a bit nervous. If it's a load of hippie mumbo jumbo we are not going to bond with it at all....

Mileymoocow · 01/07/2016 07:52

potato it's not selfish at all! I'd feel exactly the same. I don't even want loads of visitors straight away!! I've waited quite a while to meet this baba I just probably selfishly want our own time together before everyone starts landing on top of us. Immediate family are a different story though! Smile I'm worried about my grandma turning up whenever she feels like it - we never get a days peace from her at the moment! I obviously love her dearly but she has a key to our house and her and my grandad just come and go as they please so I have a feeling they'll be the same when baby is here.

Pinklily1 · 01/07/2016 07:53

Exchange in a few weeks would be great Potato! Do you think you'll be in before baby arrives?

I bought Boots maternity pads and they don't look that bulky Hmm I've not opened any up but the pack isn't huge, compared to say the Mothercare ones. I think I'll get some of those as well in case doubling up is required Blush
