What a horrible thing to say, Miley! Is she generally a person who's not very nice, or did she think she was just being 'honest'? Hmm

leoniethelioness · 28/06/2016 19:06

Sorry to hear that, Miley

DH might be made redundant. Can't stop crying.

LisaTheSimpson · 28/06/2016 19:10

Oh shit, Leonie, I'm so sorry. Don't know what to say. Holding your hand and hoping it won't happen Flowers

Mileymoocow · 28/06/2016 19:16

Oh leonie! What awful news, I'm so sorry to hear SadFlowers try to keep your chin up and try not to worry about it too much. I know it's easier said than done but hopefully it will all come to nothing and his job will be safe.

lisa she can be a bit catty. Her Daughter in law is pregnant and she keeps comparing me to her (really slim, really pretty, no stretch marks even though shes all bump lucky cow!) It was more the face she pulled before she said it. Never mind, my body is holding our baby, it's entitled to put weight on where it bloody well wants!

leoniethelioness · 28/06/2016 19:18

Me too - sounds like a third of people who do his job will be made redundant so it is touch and go. There's just no way of knowing right now. Clearly this is the worst time for this to happen, just after Brexit... Heartbroken that this is happening to DH and his colleagues, and that the country is in a state of constitutional and economic crisis

Pinklily1 · 28/06/2016 19:59

Miley, what an awful thing to say. I'm still surprised that people think they can make comments about our weight and size just because we are pregnant Hmm

Leonie, so sorry to hear that. My OH was made redundant in April and its awful. Fingers and toes crossed your OH comes out ok - when will you find out for definite?

Bunch - happy anniversary! Hope you have a lovely meal. Which restaurant are you going to? I really want to go to Tom Kerridge's, but its a bit of a trek from here!

Happy birthday Starky! Have you had a good day?

I'm 31 weeks today and really suffering from back pain. I had to stand on the train both too and from work, and then sat down all day (first day back post holiday), so that probably didn't help.

Out of interest, has anyone's belly button popped out yet? Mine is still in, although its under pressure! Also not got the linea negra yet, which I had assumed everyone got, but apparently not.

Has anyone else had problems with the MN app today? It wouldn't let me post, I've tried deleting and reinstalling the app but it still doesn't work!

mayago · 28/06/2016 21:43

I've missed so much! Glastonbury was such hard work, and I'm more exhausted than ever now. We had a wonderful time though!

leonie that's awful news! I'm keeping my fingers cross that things work out and your OH's job is safe and sound!

Happy birthday Starky! I hope you're having a good day, and a tasty birthday meal.

Happy anniversary Bunch! I love a good tasting menu as well- hope the pregnancy clause doesn't change much for you!

I had my 12 week scan today. Baby is looking like a baby and not an alien now! It was surreal to watch him or her wiggle around in there. OH is just in awe.

Newmrs22 · 28/06/2016 21:49

leonie that's horrible but hopefully it will work out ok Flowers

For those asking, I'm measuring small! don't feel it! I was 4 weeks behind so got sent for a growth scan but was fine. I think baby changed position which affected it. The week after I was 2 weeks behind and midwife said that was fine. It's a rough tool they use to try to pick up babies that aren't growing properly but it's really not very specific and picks up loads of normal babies.

maya lovely scan! Congrats

Sodasoda · 28/06/2016 22:16

Sorry to hear that leonie, really hope it doesn't happen. When do you find out for sure?

pink sorry you're in pain. I'm 29 weeks with a deep innie that is being stretch. I'd say I'm on the verge. I also have linea nigra - right up to my boobs. Pleasant!

Fab scan may - congrats!

Favour to ask - does anyone still have a 10% off voucher for mothercare that's valid? I went to expectant parent event last week and got voucher but I now can't find it and I know it's still valid as they sent me an email! PIL have now said they'll buy us cot and drawer set which is lovely of them and asked about the voucher as it would save quite a bit of money so will feel really bad telling them I've lost it! If anyone can help would be eternally grateful!

PotatosMum · 28/06/2016 22:29

anyone else having app issues? I can't post and my phone doesn't like the website much so I can't catch up on here Sad

Laurenrl · 28/06/2016 22:52

Leonie, really sorry to hear, I hope he isn't effected, everything crossed for you x

Laurenrl · 28/06/2016 22:54

Congrats on your scan may! You're a hero to have managed Glasto whilst up duffed, I'm lucky if I make it out if the house to do anything other that work nowadays!

IndiX · 28/06/2016 23:36

This bloody mumsnet app hasn't been working all day!! Angry

Maya- lovely scan congrats!! I'm putting my guess in now and saying your team blue Grin

Leonie- I'm so sorry about DH's job, I'm really hoping it all works out and his job is safe.

Happy anniversary Bunch and a big Happy Birthday Stark!!

BunchOfBobs · 29/06/2016 06:47

Damn mumsnet app not letting me post at all. I'm on the main site on my phone now.

Miley people can be so rude! I don't understand what gives them the right.

Leonie I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope it doesn't come to it.

Lovely scan Mayo.

Meal was amaZing, I've attached a pic of the menu. They left out the bits that had raw egg, cooked the lamb and scallop more and I didn't have the foie gras. I can't believe I ate 8 courses

Thread #8 - TTC#1 Grads - stripy bump photos ahoy!
Mileymoocow · 29/06/2016 07:46

Shit bunch that is a lot of food! All sounds unbelievable though apart from the fois gras!

Thanks everyone, I guess some people just live to be pains in the arses. To be honest my butt is not my main concern, I'm more worried about the cellulite on the tops of my arms!

maya lovely scan! Nice and clear Smile can't believe you're 12 weeks already!

pink I'm innie for now but it's slowly coming out! Midwife stuck the doppler in it yesterday to get a clear heartbeat. I have a bit of a phobia of belly buttons so I wasn't best impressed! Also, everyone who mentioned about measurements being approximate, I was measuring 24cm on Monday and 25.5cm yesterday!

Feefeefs · 29/06/2016 07:54

Happy birthday starky!

I like the sound of meat and two veg past and Mexican all at the one time potato

.

The midwife was much as described, blood pressure, urine sample and Doppler! Which was exciting! I nearly missed it though because she said "sometimes it can be difficult to find at 16 weeks it's still tiny" put the sensor on my tummy and found it immediately! This I assumed that was my heartbeat and didn't realise until she was finishing! She them showed me what my heartbeat sounded like by comparison and I did feel a bit silly!

TMJ is temporomandibular joint disorder, a jaw disorder from grinding or dental surgery or whiplash etc, mine is from wisdom teeth removal and grinding is causes pain in the jaw neck, headaches and pain around the ears, mine is mostly ear pain and your jaw "pops and clicks". Lisa. Mine was bad when we were trying to conceive and now worse again I think I grind my teeth more at night when stressed. Your dentist can look for signs of grinding and make a splint, gum shield type thing that really helps.

So sorry to here about your DH leonie

leoniethelioness · 29/06/2016 07:56

Sorry I missed your birthday, Stark. Hope you had a lovely and very special day.

I'm feeling quite emotional again this morning but need to pull myself together for work. I've got a meeting with a client ar 9.

DH didn't sleep much at all last night. We think we could just about manage on my income although it would be extremely tight and I'd have to go back to work in January after my period of full pay ends if DH isn't able to get another job. We're a bit worried about our car loan as life would be a lot more comfortable without it. It's got two years left to run. Bearing in mind DH earns a bit more than I do, it didn't seem reckless taking it out last year but now it could make our situation from doable to desperate. Hopefully if he is made redundant then he'll have some pay to use to pay it down or off, or we'll work out other ways of tightening our belts.

The news was only announced yesterday and apparently the redundancies could be made over a period of two years, and obviously there's no saying if it will be him affected, but it's just horrible. We should know more next month but that'll just be confirmation of what roles are being retained, I think.

Pink Did your DH manage to find new work?

shelbTa · 29/06/2016 08:00

Hi!

why won't the stupid app work???

Lovely scan may
Happy birthday stark! That's a biggie!

Ah pink I can't believe you had to stand both ways that's an absolute joke. Are you able to work any days from home up until your mat leave? Mine is still just an innie.

Leonie sorry to hear that - what industry is he in?

Miley - I hope you punched that woman in the face, using your ass to centre yourself and balance?! What a cheek!!!!

I've got the worst cold, up since 4.30. the next 7 weeks to mat leave are going to be hard I think. Huge meeting today too.

Waves to everyone I've missed.

X

Co5mo · 29/06/2016 11:10

I'm back...Italy was lovely. Sorrento is a great base for exploring the area but I wouldn't recommend it with a pushchair. Just too busy. Now the holiday washing and ironing is out of the way I can get on with the countdown to mat leave.

Midwife appointment this morning was fine, baby kept kicking the dopler! Looks like I'll be off for growth scans because I measured 21.5cm at 24+6. Not really worried because baby is still very low in my pelvis and the measurement is very imprecise. Just waiting for an obstetrician to decide if they want to see me.

Belated happy birthday Starky.

Leonie I really hope things work out. X

PotatosMum · 29/06/2016 13:13

Woohoo!!! The app's working again!!! Grin

Happy belated birthday Stark CakeFlowersStar hope you had a lovely day.

Miley I hope you have rude woman a piece of your mind. Nearly everyone ends up with baby weight in places they'd rather not, why do people think mentioning it helps?!

Leonie sorry to hear your OHs job is in danger. Fingers crossed he's one of the ones they keep.

Pink congrats on hitting 31 weeks Smile my belly button is still an in and I don't have a line thingie... I'm a bit disappointed about that Confused

May lovely scan Smile I bet it's feeling really real now.
I'm impressed you managed to do Glastonbury while upduffed... I could barely get out of bed!

Bunch glad your meal was lovely Smile

Shelb sorry you've got a cold, that sucks! I'm amazed I've got this far without one, I usually catch every sniffle going Confused

Co5mo welcome back, glad midwife was good... Doesn't sound like you are but don't worry about the growth scan, just look at it as another opportunity to get a look at baby Smile

I'm waiting for my midwife appointment. I'm absolutely shattered after the last couple of days of running around so I've been trying to have a quiet one today. I have managed to do a lot of baby shopping though. I walked into mothercare yesterday and came out with a bedding set for Potatos cot and a vibrating chair, both half price Grin then I got a little hoody in Tesco while I was doing my shopping and today I bought a pregnancy ball, Tommy tippy bottle maker and a memory book to follow on from my pregnancy diary. I think that's it for my spending money for a bit Confused

I've also finally got round to packing my hospital bag, I'm sure I've forgotten loads of stuff but I think I have the essentials.

IndiX · 29/06/2016 13:25

The app is still playing up on my phone. I've just written a long post and then it went offAngry

Miley I forgot to say yesterday but please ignore that cheeky bitch at your work or give her a good hard slap from me.

Cosmo I'm sure the growth scan will be fine and as potato says you'll be able to see baby again.

I've just booked in my 4D scan, they are doing a half price offer at a clinic near me. Good job I phoned actually as I had thought 30 weeks was the right time to get one but really you should go about 26/27weeks. I don't know if that varies between clinics but any ladies who want a 4D I'd book closer to that time.
I'm 25 weeks today, I've hit the 1stone weight gain milestone....not feeling the best about it but baby is healthy and i know I'm keeping active and eating quite well.
