Breastfeeding was tricky at the start, not helped by dd having reflux. We got there in the end though! DD ended up having allergies, so I'm pleased I did breastfeed as I worry they would have been worse if I hadn't.

I'll be breastfeeding again this time, but I won't be trying to do it all myself this time, as it contributed to my pnd. DH will do some bottles to make sure I get enough sleep. Hopefully it'll be with expressed milk, but I'm happy to mix feed once feeding is established.

Good idea south - let's wait till 12 weeks! The FB group would be a totally secret group so no ones RL friends would even know you were on it or that it existed and certainly wouldn't see anything posted.

mejse I struggle with car sickness anyway so always drive if I'm pregnant but if not, definitely try and ride in the front!

I fed ds till he was 1 so will hope to do the same with this baby although I spent lots of time and effort pumping and now have a large freezer stash that's gone off but I can't bring myself to throw away as he totally went off the stuff. Next time will just use the odd bottle of formula for when I'm out etc. and save myself the stress!

Been having some cramping this morning. 10 weeks today and I'm freaking out. No bleeding, but it's just really scared me. Been sent home from work and seeing GP at 11.30.

Feck me, this thread moves fact. Unlike my pregnancy.

Morning ladies. Twelve week scan this morning and beyond relieved to say that everything is perfect so far. I didn't sleep a wink last night and the appointment was rather long - 8.45 and not out till 10am but absolutely amazing.

Baby would not stay still at all - was wriggling away and seemed quite grumpy at being disturbed. Photo is a curled up, turned away baby not liking the attention but was incredible to see.

New EDD given of 26/11 but I'd like to stay in this thread rather than shunt over to November.

I promise you all, the nerves and the anxiety is absolutely worth it. They were so lovely knowing about the previous MC too and were incredibly sensitive to our anxiety.
All those moments with my head down the toilet were absolutely worth it. Xx

Re breastfeeding- I only managed to bf my first for a week. I had horrific pnd and had to bottle feed for my sanity. Dc2&3 both have tongue tie and couldn't latch so I switched to bottles pretty much straight away. I think I'll try again with this one, but happy to bottle feed again too.

Thanks everyone. Got a scan booked at EPU at 1.50. My GP is brilliant.

She also said that my blood test result from my booking in appt showed that my blood sugar was very low. 2.6, whatever that means. I'd had crunchy nut cornflakes for breakfast and have been eating tonnes of fruit plus some sugary stuff every day. In fact, I've been trying to cut back a bit as I thought I was consuming too much. Does this mean I have free reign to eat cake now?!

Excited there was a slapped cheek scare at my school when I was pg with DD. I was removed from class and the child sent straight home. It turned out not to be SC but work were great. And I was over 20 weeks I think - think it's more dangerous before 12.

excited - I'm pretty sure dd had slapped cheek a few weeks ago. But by the time her face was scarlet, she'd already been ill for a week, so there was nothing I could do. I don't know what the advice is for working with a child with it - can you stay well away from them?

bigfam I would definitely ff if I had that previous experience! I'm hoping to bf this time as I managed it well with ds3 but ds1 and 2 were both mostly ff - it depends on the situation whatever's easier

tinysalmon I'm just travelling everywhere by uber so haven't done much tube. We're on the met line which is air conditioned though so should be okay really, I think I'm just a bit lazy and like the convenience of uber! I have my driving test in a couple of weeks, if I can finally pass then I'll use dh's car though and save a bit of money!

chapman have a lovely time in USA! And same if there's anyone else travelling that I've missed

I had my booking in today. Quite uneventful but the midwife seemed lovely and has booked me in for 12 week scan, a gtt and an apt with the consultant that I wanted so that's all good. Need to buy a bigger handbag to accommodate carrying my notes around everywhere!

Feeling a bit more energetic and less knackered the past few days! I've changed my vitamins from pregnacare into Swisse, not sure whether it's because of that since it has more B vitamins in it?

excited I'd definitely tell your midwife as if you've been exposed you might need monitoring. You may need to move rooms if you can?

I'm very sensitive to smells at the moment and unfortunately my DH has started to smell really odd. He insists he's showered and brushed his teeth etc. but euch.

I had my booking in appt - all was well although since DS1 was over 4.5kg apparently I have to see a consultant, have extra scans and monitoring for possible GD. They may also induce early if this one looks as big (DS got stuck)

On a happier note, feeling slightly less sick today but just as exhausted!

Hello all! Thank you for the new thread Barking! This thread moves fast!

10 days now until my first scan. I can't really hide my developing bump now so have had to tell a few people, so will be pleased when I can just talk freely about it (all being well - fingers crossed - obviously).

Had a shock this morning when I got on the scales and found I was 10lb heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight! I just can't stop eating though.

I did breastfeed DD but struggled. At first I had a cracked nipple which was so bloody painful I nearly cried some feeds. And then I just really struggled with the lack of sleep and having to do all the night feeds, and the inability to go away from DD for more than an hour or two (I think it contributed to me verging on PND to be honest). Eventually I started expressing so DH could do some feeds, but expressing takes so long I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do that that time with a toddler to run around after. In the end last time we mixed fed when DD turned about 2 months and then we moved her over to formula completely when she was 6 months. This time I think I'm going to be more open to mix feeding much earlier on (although I think they say that if you are going to do that it's best just to breastfeed for the first 2 weeks so that your milk supply establishes first). I will say that breastfeeding is a lot easier in some ways as you don't have to worry about sterilising things and warming up / cooling down feeds (which all gets very time consuming). I found it much easier when I was out and about just to pop DD on my boob when she was hungry than to have to worry about prepping everything beforehand.

Has anyone had a kidney infection before & does it have to start off as a uti? I've got a really uncomfortable ache in the left side of my back, bit don't think it's backache

oriana with my last baby I had to be consultant led because ds1 had been big at 10lb 4oz, but my first baby dd had only been 6lb 15oz so they thought I'd had undiagnosed gd. Turned out no gd and ds2 was only 7lb 13oz It may be the same for you too. But lovely you get to see baby s few extra times

Bigfam I had one a couple of years ago lower back ached all the way across so badly I couldn't walk... I couldn't sit still either it was just generally traumatic 😂 It does creep up on you slowly though (I've had a couple of utis and riddled kidneys as I don't drink enough water!!!) so keep your fluids up, I always notice my wee becomes more concentrated around this time of year when it gets warmer as we don't compensate for lost fluids I guess. Sorry for tmi!!!

Thanks weechops that's good to know. They did test me for GD last time but said I didn't have it - and they say second babies are larger on the whole so I'll be quite glad of the extra monitoring!
