Thread #6 - TTC#1 Grads - Sun roasted pregnant ladies

PotatosMum · 09/05/2016 09:34

Summers here and bumps are busy growing. Scans photos are coming thick and fast and team pink and blue are rampining up their numbers.

We have new grads furiously POAS, second trimesters eager for their bumps and veterans about to embark on trimester 3 and contemplating baby size with mild terror apprehension.

The weathers to hot for comfort and our pregnancy aches, pains and symptoms are getting on our tits literally in some cases !!

All are welcome to TTC#1 grads thread #6

pink I've just this weekend read that! I'll have a dig round my kindle and see what else I've enjoyed. Seems we have similar tastes

Sodasoda · 24/05/2016 20:37

pink / miley - exactly the same book taste - I've read all those two, love those sorts of books!

I wouldn't say I'm glowing. People have definitely commented that I look well but I think that's in comparison with the first tri when I looked like death. I really haven't had the tiredness though - even in first tri. I've continued to go to bed normal time (11-11.30ish) and get up for work about 7.30. If anything I'm a bit more wired and I can't lie in on a weekend any more. Good practice I suppose Wink

The nosy (fairly old) neighbour has just popped round on the pretext of taking about bins. He actually just wanted to ask if I was pregnant! He said 'can I be nosy? I saw some post for you from something called childbirth trust - are you expecting?' I didn't realise I lived above private detectives Grin

Thanks for good wishes about my kidneys. We'll see what the doctor says tomorrow and will update then.

BunchOfBobs · 24/05/2016 20:42

Gorgeous bumps Pink and Miley.
*
Potato* I bawled my eyes out when I saw hat episode. I had no clue they would do it.
Also looks like we have very similar taste in books.

Soda hope the consultant can clear things up for you and you're okay.

Definitely no pregnancy glow here. I think it's a lie so people think other than baby there are some good things in pregnancy.

Jamjar12 · 24/05/2016 20:52

Feeling much better today, managed to eat a full roast dinner tonight. Never thought I'd feel so proud of myself just for eating meals!

I'm looking forward to the pregnancy glow- don't burst my bubble!! Haha!

As for book recommendations, I started reading the Mistborn series- really recommend it!

Laurenrl · 24/05/2016 20:53

Also no pregnancy glow, I just had my hair cut and a few people commented that I looked really well today, so seems I was right to have it all cut off as my hair was looking really lank with the baby taking all the goodness!

Potato have you tried next, they do a short leg that fit me well (5'3) and next day pick up in store!

My cat is giving me a heart attack tonight, suspected uti which means I'll be missing more work tomorrow to take him to the vets sigh after 10 litter trips an hour and only a tiny tiny wee though I think it's needed (although he could just be copying me!) he ate a dairy Lea triangle though (my best attempt at getting moisture in him when he won't drink!) and then tried to eat one of my haribos so i don't think he's too ill!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 24/05/2016 20:57

Told my dps, beyond thrilled and delighted is putting it mildly! But then super sad news on Mon morning, dh's grandfather passed away in his sleep unexpectedly. So been an up/down week for him. Not been able to post, just catching up.

Pondering ordering some maternity wear from new look. Maternity clothing confuses and vexes me.

Pinklily1 · 24/05/2016 21:02

Sorry to hear that sad news Starky Flowers

Lovely that your parents are so pleased about baby though!

I've almost up to date on Grey's but can't for the life of me remember what happened at the end of season 11 - pregnancy brain!

Pinklily1 · 24/05/2016 21:04

Ah yes, have just googled it to refresh my memory. I will confess to having a soft spot for Jackson Avery Blush

mayago · 24/05/2016 21:10

Some good book choices ladies! You probably also like most of Jodi Picoult's work as well.

Potato have you read any Cassandra Clare? The Mortal Instruments series might be of interest to you. Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake was good too, although a bit of a heavier read.

Lovely bumps, Pink and Miley!!

I've had the bright idea that I need Pizza Hut over the past few days; probably because OH isn't a fan. Anyhow, I ordered it online tonight (they don't deliver to me) and found it was buy one get one free. So I have two large pizzas. 3 slices in, and I felt so sick! It's going to be pizza for a long time now..

Found some alcohol free cider in the shop which I'm looking forward to trying now that the weather is getting warmer!

Feefeefs · 24/05/2016 22:06

Love Philippa Gregory potato oe trying to find all of her books I haven't read at the moment!! Love any historical fiction actually.

My friend was pregnant last year and she looked amazing holding out all hope that she is evidence of a possible "glow" will need to ask her with I see her on Thursday! I bet she denies it all and you guys all look fab too and just don't realise!!

Sorry about your loss starky. Hope all is okay. I think I had your white noise feeling this evening! Suppose that or it's just more wind Blush

mayago · 24/05/2016 22:38

Sorry for your loss Starky! Flowers

Glad your parents took the news well!

I bought some New Look stuff on Amazon, where I found it a bit cheaper. I'm begrudged to spend a lot on things I'm not planning on wearing for long! Blush I only got rid of my bigger clothes a few months ago

Laurenrl · 24/05/2016 22:40

Sorry for your loss starkey I hope you're doing is doing OK under the circumstances x

There's a crystal maze experience in London open for 4 months only, and you can't go when pregnant! What terrible timing for it to open!

Laurenrl · 24/05/2016 22:46

Your DH is doing ok* sorry! Need to spell check

leoniethelioness · 25/05/2016 06:39

Sorry for your loss, Starky.

I'm just living in maternity/nursing dresses from Jojo Maman Bebe. I'm buying them in dark colours and hoping they'll last in the winter with some woolly tights once baby is here.

PotatosMum · 25/05/2016 07:59

Soda good luck with the consultant today.

Bunch I read all sorts of rubbish depending on how I feel, I haven't read anything properly since getting upduffed though as I'm just so tired Blush

Ooo Lauren you just reminded me that I must get my hair cut before I finish work in 3 weeks (we have an on-sight salon) my hair is growing out of control and I want it nice and short when the baby arrives so I don't need to bother with it

I do like next jeans but they don't make short leg past a 16 in maternity. I do have some of their maternity 16s which fit but i don't like anything snug on my body at the moment and Potato kicks at anything resting on it.

Hope your cat is ok.

Crystal maze experience sounds amazing! I want to go Sad

Stark so sorry about your grandad, it's very sad particularly when it's unexpected but in some ways the timing of telling your mum about the baby will probably bring her some comfort.

May no I haven't read the mortal instruments but they're on my radar... My to read list is about 100 books long at the moment Blush good thing OH made me get rid of my physical books and get a kindle or we wouldn't have room for baby!

Feef I've read all of PGs Tudor books, I tried to read widacre but I couldn't get on with it.

I'm working from home again today. I'm supposed to be at work but my side was aching yesterday and already is this morning Sad also my hair needs washing and I'm too tired to do anything about it

I'm hopeful we should get an answer about the mortgage today. Fingers crossed!!!

BunchOfBobs · 25/05/2016 08:12

Starky so sorry for your DHs loss.

Potato I've only read pregnancy related books since getting my BFP but I've read 5 of them and currently on my 6th. I've got 3 more left to read possibly 4 as I think I get a book from my hypno course. Fx for a decision!!

Dad got his biopsy results yesterday and he's got to have his prostate removed. I'm glad we now know the score and aren't waiting around wondering but it sucks he has to go through it. And timing is obviously perfection, currently they expect op to be end of July/beginning of August. He won't be able to drive for a few weeks and will be catheterised with daily visits from a nurse for a while. They're 2 hours away. Fx it all happens before Pips arrival and he can either drive or be no longer cathetered so can be driven to us.

IndiX · 25/05/2016 08:23

Good morning ladies,

sorry to hear your sad news stark.
Bunch I hope your dad is back on the mend ASAP, as you say at least they know what it is now and what has to be done.

Lovely bumps pink and miley, you're both so neat!
I've attached my 20w bump pic todayGrin can't believe I'm at the half way point, it feels like such a big milestone. I am starting to get a little bump especially after I eat, however I think I'm carrying really low so still doesn't look like a 'proper' bump and I still haven't had any comments from strangers as think I'm in that awkward stage of 'pregnant or eaten too much'. I even feel like I need to rub or stroke my belly more to make it obvious. I don't know about weight gain as I've been away but at 18w I'd put 6lbs on in total..sure it'll be a quite a bit more now.
Hope you all have a lovely day x

shelbTa · 25/05/2016 08:23

Morning

Sorry to read that starkFlowers

Bunch - your poor dad. My dad has literally just been through the same, and if it's any comfort having it taken out has been a positive move. He was catheterised for a while too. Hope they get him in in time - my dad ended up using the choose and book hospital scheme on the NHS which allowed him to search for hospitals with the least waiting time for the op, don't know if that's an option for yours.

X

BunchOfBobs · 25/05/2016 08:27

Also in a bid to get ready for baby- I had a panic last night realising 2 weeks and I'm into single fivers WTF!!- I did a bulk
Amazon purchase of boring essentials. Maternity pads, waterproof bed sheet, puppy pads to sit on (sofa, car etc) not really puppy pads but look the same, mirror for Pips car seat so I can see him whilst driving. I think I just need my hospital nighties, breast pads, nursing bras (can't get measured until 36 weeks) and want to get some nice toiletries for after the big event and I'm done. How has this gone so quickly?! Mor, New are you in the same boat?

BunchOfBobs · 25/05/2016 10:34

Shelb that's good to hear it's been positive thank you. I'm not sure if it is an option but he has a holiday booked which gets him back for the 23rd July. I think him and mum are keen to go on it as if he has the op before he can't go. It just then fudges timings with the baby but hey ho. His health is all that matters right now. We'll know more once he has his appointment next week with the surgeon but apparently it's not aggressive and we're hopeful surgery will be the only treatment needed.
*
Indi* your bump looks lovely and neat.

PotatosMum · 25/05/2016 11:22

Bunch glad you've got some answers about your dads condition. Hopefully the timescales will work out.

Time sure is flying now, it's scary that in 3 months well start popping out sprogs! I'm 27 weeks this weekend so I'll only have 13 weeks left "gulp"

Indi that's a lovely bump picture. I wish I looked like that!

Spoke to my mortgage advisor today who told me the provider is running a day behind so we won't know if we've got the mortgage until tomorrow Angry I know it's only one more day but I just want to know so that I can breath easy and we can stop feeling nervous about thinking of the new house as ours.
It's so scary and I keep thinking that if we can't get a mortgage I don't know what we'll do as we can't stay here (there isn't room for us to have the two kids visit and a baby plus DSS will be miserable if he has to live with his mum and her boyfriend and we really worry about the impact that would have on his behaviour), we really, really don't want to rent and we won't be able to get a mortgage for a smaller but big enough property with just one of us on the papers.
I just keep going round and round about what we'll do if the news is bad.

bunch that's awful for your poor dad. At least he has answers but it can't be nice for him to have to go through it. At least he will have a lovely grandpip soon though!

stark sorry to hear about your DHs poor grandad. Hope you're all ok Flowers

indi you look amazing! I'm a little jealous you've managed to keep your lovely figure!

Planeteer · 25/05/2016 13:12

So much to catch up on.

Stark I'm sorry to hear about DH's grandad. How's he doing? Telling your parents about tiny one will have been a big spot of brightness for them.Flowers

Bunch it sucks for your dad that he has to go through the op, but sounds like he'll be able to be on the mend properly once he's out the other side.

Potato how's the pain level? Hope that fibroid is behaving! Really hope you hear on the mortgage soon and can properly relax about it. Try not to play the what if game if you can. That way lies madness!

Soda good luck with the consultant today.

Indi holy wow! You look incredible!!

We had an offer accepted on a house today. Hooraaaay!! Starting the mortgage fun time and have a meeting with our broker on Saturday. Hope we can get things moving quickly. Will be great to be able to plan where Pancake is going to be.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 25/05/2016 13:30

Thanks guys, he's been a bit brighter since the initial shock but Im not looking forward to gojng down to the funeral. His grandmother is an evil poisenous witch (I've never met her, she didnt wamt to meet me, refused to come to the wedding, then told everyone she wasn't invited, she is thoroughly unpleasant). Proved even further by her telling him off for not telling his grandad about the baby, we were going to tell them that afternoon he already felt guilty enough. I'm silently seething. She calls me by the wrong name on purpose and pretends to not know who I am if I answer the phone.

I'm hoping that she won't have spoken to dss dm, we didn't think it was the right time to tell dss about the baby as he'll be upset about his great grandad, I wouldn't be surprised if the grandmother phones and pours poisen there. She's toxic. I'm just hoping it's not been put all over Facebook. BIL was miffed because we hadn't told him earlier! Dh said we'd only just found out! I was like "wff are you on about!? Tell him the workings of my womb is none of his business!" Sorry ranting!

bunch 💐 sorry about your dad, I'm sure everything will go well and he'll be right as rain in no time.

potato keeping my fx for your mortgage news!
