Thread #6 - TTC#1 Grads - Sun roasted pregnant ladies

PotatosMum · 09/05/2016 09:34

Summers here and bumps are busy growing. Scans photos are coming thick and fast and team pink and blue are rampining up their numbers.

We have new grads furiously POAS, second trimesters eager for their bumps and veterans about to embark on trimester 3 and contemplating baby size with mild terror apprehension.

The weathers to hot for comfort and our pregnancy aches, pains and symptoms are getting on our tits literally in some cases !!

All are welcome to TTC#1 grads thread #6

Also no idea about what to give birth in. I'm panicking about packing my hospital bag already so if anyone has a list I'd appreciate some advice!

IrregularCommentary · 23/05/2016 09:23

I've put on about 2.5 - 3kg so far (20+4). Size 14 normally though, so I'm not supposed to be putting as much on as someone who weighed less to start with!

PotatosMum · 23/05/2016 09:40

Bunch sometimes I stick a waste of duvet under my bump as I'm too warm to have it over me. Sometimes it works.

I haven't started my hospital bag yet. I'm going to ASDA tonight to get the practical things (over sized nightie, breast pads, nappies and the like) but I'm not going over board. Some of the advice is to take everything but the kitchen sink but I'm just taking the basics and every day clothes for coming home I think the baby and I will both be traumatised enough without trying to look good when we leave hospital

Planet so exciting that you're putting in an offer. Fingers crossed it's accepted!

Shelb I'm not weighing myself as I don't need that kind of negativity in my life ConfusedBlush

Pink yep, I have a pregnancy pillow. His name is gooseberry Smile

I'm getting breast pads and maternity pads from ASDA. I'm kinda freaked out about it but I think getting it all in one go should be less scary.

I don't want to worry my OH but I'm a bit concerned that my fibroid may be in the early stages of inflating with blood again Sad I've just started to be able to feel it again. It's not hurting but it's feeling "wrong", hoping it doesn't turn to pain again Sad

shelbTa · 23/05/2016 09:51

Thanks ladies for those who are weighing. I'm not overly arsed but I think sometimes now I'm eating for the sake of it not when I'm really hungry, if you know what I mean.

I'm going to wear a nightie too I think during labour. I've been told flip flops for the shower are an absolute must too!!

IrregularCommentary · 23/05/2016 10:13

Pink 24 towels??? WTAF?!?!

cries in corner

Laurenrl · 23/05/2016 10:24

Potato, I hope you're wrong and your fibroid isn't going to start playing up again! Take it easy today and see how it goes.

Well our girl is perfect but wouldn't sit still enough for a good picture :( I have one ok one (after paying for 3) but it took lots of prodding and poking and lying on sides etc! What a madam already!

Just so glad she's healthy and active in there. Also have anterior placenta so that's why the movements I feel are so sporadic which has put my mind at ease!

Mileymoocow · 23/05/2016 10:39

3kg?! irregular you must tell me your secret. I've put all my weight on in about 5 weeks as the rest of the time I was spewing and losing weight!

My cousin went into labour and asked her husband to run her a bath. She got in, obviously in pain and nervous and he asked her if she wanted her razor 😂😂😂 brave man.

potato hope you're okay. You really need a break, it's unfair Sad

Glad your scan went well lauren was this 20 week???

Mileymoocow · 23/05/2016 10:42

Also potato when you next update the list can you stick me down for team vanilla pretty please? Think it's almost neck and neck with vanilla and pink. Be interesting to see what the final pink vs blue is!

Laurenrl · 23/05/2016 10:50

22 week Miley, my hospital do it later as they have found they can also do pre-eclampsia tests at the same time if they wait 2 weeks (it's a research hosp)

Mileymoocow · 23/05/2016 10:55

Ah right! Glad everything is okay.

Did everyone have blood tests at 20 weeks?

Laurenrl · 23/05/2016 10:58

I didn't have blood tests, the last time I had one was booking in

IrregularCommentary · 23/05/2016 11:02

I've not had blood tests since my 12w scan for the combined test Miley. Next lot will be this month as far as I know, as I have to have the glucose diabetes test (Mum diabetic).

Weight wise, I've no idea. I thought I'd have ballooned by now (and there's still plenty of time!) Just lucky that my eating habits haven't really changed I think. I also probably drank too much pre pregnancy, so am effectively on a diet from that point of view!

LisaTheSimpson · 23/05/2016 11:14

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the radio silence. Scan (part two) went well yesterday, though again it took a couple of tries as the lazy thing did not want to turn over. The sonographer was about to say 'let's book you a new appointment for a week or so', when suddenly it turned over and showed its face. Thank god! So all good here.

Lauren - congrats on your scan! So glad it went well. I have anterior placenta too - what does that mean?

Potato - I'm so sorry your fibroid is playing up again. What a pain in the arse. Fingers crossed it doesn't get too bad for you.

You guys are all so organised. We haven't bought a SINGLE THING yet. We've let my Mum and MiL buy something each (they were desperate), so they've bought a clothes item each. But now the 20-week scan is out of the way I really need to sit down and put together a list. Scary!

LisaTheSimpson · 23/05/2016 11:16

Does anyone remember who posted a list of what they were going to buy for their baby? Something is telling me it was someone beginning with L - Leonie, Lauren?

I remember a really long, comprehensive list of everything we need, but I've had a look back over the thread(s) and can't find it. I want to steal it! Grin

Sorry to be a pain

Laurenrl · 23/05/2016 11:19

Hey Lisa, I haven't looked it up at all but the sonographer said it means the placenta is at the front, which means it cushions the baby's movements and you can't feel them or see them as much. Hopefully later on it shouldn't make too much of a difference though it's just while the movements arent as strong.

Really glad your re-scan went well!

mayago · 23/05/2016 11:24

I almost wish I've had some morning sickness, as I've already gained 5kg+ at 7+5... It's ridiculous really as I've not been eating poorly, and I'm getting as much exercise as my body will allow! I know from the first early scan there's only one baby in there, so hoping it tapers out soon. Great to know I've already put on my weight that Irregular who is 13 weeks more pregnant than I am! Blush

I went shopping for pads with a pregnant niece last year. She decided on non-maternity Always infinity towels, as the maternity ones felt a bit cheap and nasty.

I hope you're okay Potato!

Sorry you didn't get the picture you wanted Lauren. Good to know that baby is happy and healthy though!

LisaTheSimpson · 23/05/2016 11:37

Lauren - ah, ok. That actually makes a lot of sense as I've felt a little bit of movement, but not much at all, really. Glad to hear there's actually a reason why! Thanks!

shelbTa · 23/05/2016 12:04

Lisa - I have anterior placenta too (round the front) and I only started getting 100% 'yeah that's the baby' movement at about 24 weeks I think it was.

X

IrregularCommentary · 23/05/2016 12:30

Sorry May - I feel bad for saying anything now. I'm honestly at the really low end of what anyone else I know put on so don't worry about it at all.

I honestly think it's more to do with teetotal weight loss offsetting what I'm putting on with the baby! My legs are also still too chubby to fit into all these super skinny mat jeans everywhere seems to sell so it's not all fun and games I promise!!

PotatosMum · 23/05/2016 12:37

Lauren i hope I'm wrong about fibroid too!
Glad the scan went well. It's a shame you couldn't get a good photo but at least she's happily wiggling away in there.

Miley I've updated the list Smile

I've given up on having a normal pregnancy, it seems to be one thing after the other so now I'll just be happy if Potato comes out on schedule without too much bother!

Blood tests here are booking in, 12 weeks and 28 weeks at the same time as diabetes test.

Lisa glad the rescan went well and you got everything you needed from it eventually

Has anyone got any suggestions of which baby vibrating chair thing to get? There are so many and I can't even begin to decide.

Pain is getting worse through the day Sad working at home tomorrow so hopefully it will be better but this is how it started last time... About 3 weeks of increasing pain in my side which then turned stabby and finally turned into OMG I feel like I've been impaled on a fence post Confused hoping it doesn't get to that stage again.

I should start thinking about hospital bags too, bloody hell- lots to do!

I have my 25 week midwife appt on weds, should i expect a blood test? And do we get our mat b forms?

I'm not really monitoring my weight, as it's all bump at the mo, the min my face, arms and arse starts puffing up I'll be on those scales lol

Mileymoocow · 23/05/2016 12:49

I got a card through the post after my midwife sent off my forms. Is that the mat b card?

mayago · 23/05/2016 12:51

Don't be sorry Irregular! I think it's fascinating you've not gained a lot so far. I've just lost a lot of weight in the past year, and am worried when I see the scale going up. I guess it's easier to gain when your body is used to being bigger? My OH is a personal trainer, and says not to worry and we'll deal with the weight gain after baby is here. Not reassuring coming from someone with like 12% body fat Hmm

Fingers crossed for you Potato!

LisaTheSimpson · 23/05/2016 12:51

Thanks Shelb, that's really useful to know. Quite reassuring actually - I don't think I'd realised until now that I was actually a little worried by not feeling very much. Good to know there's a decent reason why x
