PotatosMum · 09/05/2016 09:34

Summers here and bumps are busy growing. Scans photos are coming thick and fast and team pink and blue are rampining up their numbers.

We have new grads furiously POAS, second trimesters eager for their bumps and veterans about to embark on trimester 3 and contemplating baby size with mild terror apprehension.

The weathers to hot for comfort and our pregnancy aches, pains and symptoms are getting on our tits literally in some cases !!

All are welcome to TTC#1 grads thread #6

I wish I was craving salad!

Had a bad day today, Feeling stressed about work tomorrow and general pregnancy yuckiness and had to go on my driving lesson. I was terrible, really terrible got really frustrated and then broke down crying in front of the instructor BlushBlushShock

Couldn't even tell him I was pregnant he was very nice and I've had lessons for awhile so I know him reasonably well but still mortified. DH was very nice when I came home but still mortified.

shelbTa · 22/05/2016 19:20

Hi ladies

How are we?

Interesting re the bibs in abundance bunch, I didn't realise you need so many.

26 weeks potato, it's the big time now!

We think we've decided on a pram after an intense afternoon in mothercare - is anyone getting a bugaboo??

X

Pinklily1 · 22/05/2016 19:59

Miley, i'd be a bit judgmental about that too. Each to their own I suppose, but I'm sure thats in excess of whats technically "allowed"! I haven't had any alcohol - I would probably allow myself a glass on the odd special occasion but I haven't fancied it at all.

Shelb - we are getting an iCandy but have looked at the Bugaboo's until we are blue in the teeth as we love them. Which one are you thinking of getting? We were torn between the Chameleon and the Donkey, given the Donkey can convert into a two child pram (we are hoping not to have a massive gap between babies). It was a bit wide for us, which is why we've decided to go for the iCandy. If we hadn't been after something which will convert, the chameleon would have won for us - love the look of it and the colour options. The break is a bit of a bugger though, I could only get it off using two hands, but I was probably just being weak Smile

Hope your pain begins to ease Nev. I'm struggling a bit from an old hip injury which bothers me at night, but I've found the pillow has helped so far.

Feefs - don't worry about the driving instructor, I'm sure he's seen tears, tantrums and every range of emotions in the car! Hope you start to feel better soon - get yourself on the sofa with a treat and some Sunday night tv (not that there's anything on!).

I've been painting today - finally getting round to making our new build house a bit less clinical! Have also cleaned the house from top to bottom, so its been a therapeutic Sunday!

Hope everyone else is ok!

shelbTa · 22/05/2016 20:19

Pink - yeah it's the grey chameleon one! It's so expensive though, we are just debating whether we can justify the money vs something like the silvercross wayfarer which is £300 less...

BunchOfBobs · 22/05/2016 20:51

Nev so sorry to hear you're in pain. Definitely ask for a referral and don't take no for an answer. Try engaging your pf muscles before getting up and when getting out of bed lay on your side, and push yourself up whilst swinging your legs out. Still hurts like a bitch but I can actually get up this way.

Miley I would have been judgy too. What bouncing char do you have, there's so many to choose from!

PotatosMum · 22/05/2016 20:58

Bunch thanks, shall be bulk buying bibs and looking for a bouncing chair ASAP.

Miley wow, the woman was drinking half a bottle while pregnant... She has a problem Hmm

Feef that driving lesson sounds traumatic but I doubt you're the first person he's ever had cry in his car. I imagine it's an occupational hazard Confused

Had desert of strawberries and cream this afternoon and now I'm really miffed. I had that massive roast and just needed a nap... Has fruit and a bit of cream and I have major heart burn Angry also, OH keeps watching movies without me, how dare he not psychically know I will want to watch it Hmm

Not looking forward to Monday, I was shattered at the end of a 4 day week last week so not sure how I'll cope. Still only 5 weeks left Grin

shelb we have the bugaboo cameleon classic and I love it. We initially didn't want to spend that amount but it's worth it I think. Brilliant quality and easy to build.

bunch my dad got it for us when he went a bit mental in babies r us. It's a swing but is also a bouncer apparently
www.toysrus.co.uk/mobile/babiesrus/bright-starts-taggies-leafy-swing/0116466

I thought half a bottle was a but much. She even admitted she felt a bit drunk Hmm

leoniethelioness · 22/05/2016 21:36

We have a Mamas and Papas Armadillo Flip XT on its way. We looked at quite a few but this was the one we found the easiest to use, fold, etc. I think it's important to buy the one you want as you be using it a lot.

Possibly TMI but I've developed a red, raw rash between my boobs... 😂 I think it's a heat rash. It's sore and itchy. Has anyone had anything similar? How can I get rid of it?

leoniethelioness · 22/05/2016 21:39

*you'll! Sunday night mind fog, sorry! Just spent ages ironing and packing away all my freshly washed baby clothes. I've done really well with some eBay items and bought some new things too. Almost finished clothes shopping - just need some more bodysuits from the supermarket, a couple of hats and a pramsuit. I can't find a pramsuit - is it because it's summer? Has anyone bought one yet?

Mileymoocow · 22/05/2016 21:42

Oh my god Leonie how organised are you?! I have 2 pram sleepsuits but only because we bought them in January sales. Can't find any now but hopefully after summer they'll come back in.

Try sudocrem on your rash. It's my go to for everything!

pink have you signed up for the new parent event at mother care? It's available to put your name down for now if you're still interested

Pinklily1 · 22/05/2016 22:01

miley, yes we've signed up for one, hoping to get a good few bits on offer! There's a Mana's and Papa's one coming up too, although I can't remember the dates.

leoniethelioness · 22/05/2016 22:07

Miley I hate ironing but have decided I'll hate it even more when I'm bigger. I've washed and packed everything we've bought in clear plastic boxes from Ikea so they stay clean and I can see what we've got. No furniture yet so that's my solution! I think I might have to buy the pramsuit in September, just before he's born.

Laurenrl · 22/05/2016 22:18

Leonie I got the same rash, I went to the chemist (and told her I was pregnant) and she gave me this cream called aqueous calamine in a white and orange tube, stung the first time I used it but cleared up after 3 applications. X

Laurenrl · 22/05/2016 22:42

Was just doing some work as I'll be off for half a day tomorrow for my scan (eeek) and I was scoping out my next sprint of work, it ends 22nd July, and it suddenly hit me that that's 4 weeks before I finish work, so I basically now know my work load until I'll be handing over and leaving.... Wow, weird how that's what made me realise how soon 18 weeks away is haha

PotatosMum · 23/05/2016 06:59

Morning ladies, how are you?

Leonie I've got a pram suit from mamas and papas on sale but as Potato is due in August I decided to get one that's 6-9 months. I figure she won't need one for a little while as if it's nippy I'll just use blankets and when she does need it its not the end of the world if it's a little big for her... She'll grow into it Wink
No idea about the rash, sorry Sad

I think I need to finish my baby shopping. I still need bibs and hats and a couple of special outfits. I also need to get all the scarily normal stuff like nappies etc. I know it's not much but it's driving me crazy that I don't have it.
I didn't even realise you're supposed to wash the baby clothes so I might take a leaf out of your book Leonie and get a storage box, so that I can wash and store all the clothes.

I'm so tired today. I think I got up to pee about 6 times and I'm so uncomfortable all the time. Even laying on my side as my tummy pulls. I just want to go back to sleep although, sleep is my default setting at the moment Confused

leoniethelioness · 23/05/2016 07:31

I didn't realise either, Potato, but it came up on a few threads on here and it makes sense when you think about it - all those chemicals in the manufacture and dirty hands touching the clothes in the shop! I think you're meant to use non bio / sensitive washing powder too. There's so much to learn!

Feefeefs · 23/05/2016 08:04

Thanks potato and pink feeling a bit better today, although it was haunting me last night!! Only got a three day work week this week before heading to a hen do on Thursday looking forward to the catchup With my friends but a bit worried I'll be very boring and wanting to go to sleep at like 9pm every night!!

Learning lots of all of you guys! Wash baby clothes! *tick

IrregularCommentary · 23/05/2016 08:07

Hi all - hope everyone's well and gearing up for a good week. Thanks for the baby clothes washing tip - that's now on the list!

Woke up with my right arm and most fingers almost completely numb last night. Think it may be time for a proper support pillow...

BunchOfBobs · 23/05/2016 08:07

I've got it in my calender to wash all the clothes from week 34. I've set up something to do each week to keep me sane.

Potato have you tried sticking something under your bump? I find a really flat pillow or
Feather pillow that can squish helps. Also finding the pull hard to deal with but the stuffing a pillow job there seems to work.

Planeteer · 23/05/2016 08:09

Wow, so many of you ladies are so brilliantly organised! We've put a deposit down on a buggy, and I've bought one sleep suit, but that's it! DH still really reluctant to even think about buying anything until after the scan and until we know where we'll be living, which does make sense, but isn't half making me twitchy!

Hopefully will move forward with one of those criteria today... Putting an offer in on a house we saw on Saturday. Eeek!

Good luck at work today all, I've got a real case of the Monday sulks and don't want to goooooo!

shelbTa · 23/05/2016 08:17

Morning ladies

Feef - hear you, I've got two hen dos and I wedding to contend with over next few months.

Potato - that is a lot of times to get up in on nightCake

Thanks for feedback on bugaboo, think am sold now!

For those who are tracking their weight (know quite a few aren't) - what's yours looking like?! Mine seems to be rocketing - I've put on 22 lbs and I'm 26 weeks!

BunchOfBobs · 23/05/2016 08:25

Shelb I've put on 13.6kg , 2st 2lb Shock I'm 28 +2.

Potato how's the hospital bag packing getting on? I'm trying to gather all my supplies so it's packed for 30 weeks but I can't find feck all I need in the shops. What are people planning on giving birth in? I'm hoping for a water birth so pretty much I'll be in the buff but if I need to be on a bed (induction and the like) I need something... But what? Then nighties for the stay in hospital as I'll be very lucky to be out on the 6 hour turn around I imagine. I can't find anything suitable that doesn't cost a fortune.

I've stopped stressing about coming home outfits and just gone for a set of 3 babygrows from la redoute that we'll put him in.

Pinklily1 · 23/05/2016 08:33

Shelb, I'm weighing myself tomorrow when I hit 26 weeks so will let you know. I'm a bit scared to look at the scales though Shock

Bunch, I'm aiming for a water birth too and will wear a bikini top for that. If I have to be on the bed, I was thinking of just a cheap nightie from Primark or somewhere. I'm not normally a nightie type of girl but am going to get some for post birth anyway, and if they are cheap I'll just chuck any that get ruined out afterwards. The only alternative I've thought of is one of OH's old t shirts, but I'm not sure he'd want to part with any!

Potato, do you have a pregnancy pillow?

I looked at breast pads and maternity towels in Mothercare - I was a bit traumatised afterwards! They recommend something like 24 towels for the 2 days post birth Shock

Mileymoocow · 23/05/2016 09:10

shelb I've put on 7kg and I'm 20 weeks. Think that's ok but I'm scared to Google it. Decoded I don't care what I weigh cause I'm on size 10 maternity clothes.

lauren good luck for your scan! Grin

We have non bio and extra sensitive conditioner for when baby washing commences. I'm on maternity from mid September so will do all of ours then.

pink maybe we'll bump into each other and never know! I assume you'll be going to the Gateshead one though. I'm going to silverlink. Bit too scared to look into pads just yet...
