Thread #6 - TTC#1 Grads - Sun roasted pregnant ladies

PotatosMum · 09/05/2016 09:34

Summers here and bumps are busy growing. Scans photos are coming thick and fast and team pink and blue are rampining up their numbers.

We have new grads furiously POAS, second trimesters eager for their bumps and veterans about to embark on trimester 3 and contemplating baby size with mild terror apprehension.

The weathers to hot for comfort and our pregnancy aches, pains and symptoms are getting on our tits literally in some cases !!

All are welcome to TTC#1 grads thread #6

Mor I'm booked on to a hypnobirthing course. Starts 31st May.

I'm in Primark and George maternity tights. Cheap and cheerful, no pulls or holes yet.

First visible kicks for me were 20 weeks but really sporadically. Now I see and feel movements all day. As you will have seen on my IG, they're hard to miss.

Ni I've just started following you. I'm metomama.

Pinklily1 · 17/05/2016 13:01

Hi ladies

Leonie, I'm wearing new look maternity tights which are great, but I've only found black ones so far. I've also got nude ones from Mothercare but they are crap - one wear and the crotch is splitting!

Miley, I'm also a bit confused but the Instagram names. I'm pinklily82_1 for anyone wanting to following me.

Soda, I do like my milestones! Apparently baby is the size of a cabbage this week!

Ni, for clothes, I've got a few dresses from Serpahine and Isabella Oliver and love them all. I've not worn the IO ones yet so can't say how they wash. If you sign up for the newsletters from both websites, they constantly sent discount codes through. For jeans, I've stuck with my usual Topshop Leigh skinny jeans. I've got both under and over the bump ones and find the over the bump ones stay up better.

Pinklily1 · 17/05/2016 13:03

Also, I've had two people tell me today that my bump is big - someone said I looked like I'm smuggling a football up my dress. I don't know how to react to those kind of comments - not sure whether it's a compliment or a disguised way of saying I look fat Hmm How do you react when people say that kind of thing to you?

Ni4444 · 17/05/2016 13:57

Bunch your supermarket IG photos are so funny!!

Thanks for the suggestions pink. Hey I would consider the football comment a compliment...makes it sound like you are your usual self, just with a neat little bump!

PotatosMum · 17/05/2016 15:07

Wow! You girls have been chatty this morning Shock

Lara good luck with your sale Grin hopefully it won't be on the market long. Are you going to start looking now or wait?

Indi enjoy your holiday.

Planet congrats on getting an offer. Sucks that it's not as much as you wanted, you never know, now you've got one offer maybe it'll create a sense of urgency and today's viewer will offer too.

Elle yes I've got an agreement in principle. We're just waiting for the official offer. We were told we should know within 4 working days which is today Confused

Good luck for your 12 week scanSmile mine seems like an age ago now Confused

Stark I think I know what you mean. Maybe you'll start feeling baby early. I think I had my first proper sensation of "that's definitely Potato" at about 13 weeks but then it was all little tickles and maybes until about 16 weeks.

Ni yup, I think I was something like the third grad but I stopped popping into TTC because I had horrific morning sickness and didn't want to bring everyone down with my moaning.
Speaking of which. If you're going to get morning sickness it usually starts around 6 weeks Confused

Pink I'm all about milestones too. My next one is 28 weeks. 3rd trimester and the start of my course of monitoring.

I wouldn't worry about people commenting on your bump size. Everyone's different and everyone appears to have a different opinion of how big you should be. So far I've had people tell me I'm big and others tell me I'm small... I just treat them all with the same woffle about weeks and symptoms Smile

Soda I started seeing the odd movement about 23/24 weeks but since 25 weeks it's been quite obvious.

Mor I haven't looked into hypnobirthing but based on what others who have had fibroid pain have said, by comparison childbirth is less painful so I'm actually not worried at all now Smile I'm sure I'll change my mind after several hours of labour Confused

So, first day back at work hasn't been too bad. I'm starting to hurt and flag now but I've been fine most of the day. Boss has been lovely and made a real point of checking on me and telling me to take it easy.
She's forbidden me from going to a massive meeting as she doesn't want me wearing myself out and agreed that I should work every other day from bed home.

I also got a email today to say we have contracts from our vendors Grin solicitors are checking them then we'll get our purchase pack Smile exciting!

Midwife appointment tomorrow. I think it'll be the last one before things properly ramp up.

BunchOfBobs · 17/05/2016 15:47

Potato no news is good news on the mortgage front hopefully. Glad to hear your first day back has been okay. Keep taking t easy, just 6 weeks to go.

Ni ha thanks. I used to just take them for my friend but then decided to share them with the world. My SIL was a bit baffled when I got her to take the banana photo.

I've changed 1.5 nappies woohoo! This parenting gig is going to be a breeze Hmm
Back is killing me today. Water retention seems to get bad towards the end of the day. Apparently bump is looking bigger, it's certainly feeling it as my tubi grip is feeling tighter.

Pink your bump looks lovely. I take the football comment the same as Ni it means you're just showing in the bump and nowhere else. Sigh, that was me once. Now I'm a squidgy water carrier Grin

Morwenna1 · 17/05/2016 17:30

Thats interesting Bunch - you'll have to let us know how you get on with the classes. I think I'm going to practise the breathing techniques and maybe get the music to listen to too. Worth a try!

Potato wow, I didn't realise the fibroid could cause so much pain.

I'd take the football comment as that you have a neat little bump out the front Pink most of the time I just let comments roll off my back. I am getting close to punching the work colleague who keeps telling me with a pained expression 'aw,you look tired....' They've said it 5 times now when I've had a good night's sleep and I know I don't look too bad! Thank you for telling me I look like shit. If they think I look rough now, wait till the sleep deprivation really kicks in! I am sorely tempted to respond telling her that her new hair colour doesn't suit her complexion, but that's petty I know...

Morwenna1 · 17/05/2016 17:32

Oh yes, the back ache Bunch I definitely think I've had a growth spurt!

Also if any of you ladies are near an NCT Nearly New Sale - go! It's fab. We picked up loads of practically brand new bargains. And when you're queueing up to pay at the end the volunteers come around with water (how nice is that?)

shelbTa · 17/05/2016 17:33

Hi ladies

Trying to catchup! Waves to everyone.

I'm on IG too - if you are following bunch I'm following her, my profile pic is me stood on a piece of ice on a lake!

Nothing to report really. Put on two pounds overnight - I swear this baby is a binge eater!! Smile

X

leoniethelioness · 17/05/2016 18:42

Think I've added you, shelb! My phone contract is up next month and then you won't be able to stop me with snapping away! I'm hoping my eBay purchases will arrive this week so I can share those too! They've all been posted now.

We're having the decorators back tomorrow to redo the wall in Pepper's room where the plaster had blown and to do our box room too. Ordering carpet then and can buy Pepper's Stuva furniture from Ikea and start putting his things away!

Pinklily1 · 17/05/2016 18:48

Is it baby stuff or maternity stuff you've ordered off eBay Leonie? Getting parcels delivered is so exciting!

I think the football comment was probably mean in a nice way. I just wasn't sure how to respond at the time.

Mor, the tiredness comment is rude! Once maybe, but 5 times?! I honestly don't know why people think those kind of comments are necessary.

Mileymoocow · 17/05/2016 19:26

pink I'd be chuffed about the football comment. I got told I looked 'sturdy' today Hmm

Given in and ordered some maternity jeans, there's no fastening my normal ones now once I've eaten. I'm soooooo horrendously bloated. Scan day tomorrow, yay!

Sodasoda · 17/05/2016 19:36

It is strange how people feel they have the right to comment on your body. I've had 'you're really small', 'you've popped out' 'you're looking so big' and even 'wow, your boobs are enormous' (fair) all from people at work who are definitely in the colleague rather than friend camp! It's like me telling a work mate they're looking a bit porky!

My SIL gave me a hypnobirthing CD but like miley I'm burying head in sand about giving birth!

I think someone recommended seraphine and Isabella Oliver clothes for work? I can definitely recommend - got a few hand me downs from friends for those brands too and they have worn fine. New look is also good and I have some great work trousers from Next. I find over bump jeans are better for me now as they stay up! Under bump was better earlier when I'd just outgrown my normal jeans.

Thanks for comments about belly movements - bring it on Smile

Pinklily1 · 17/05/2016 20:06

Eek, good luck for tomorrow Miley!

PotatosMum · 18/05/2016 07:14

Morning all, how are you today?

I'm shattered, potato gave me psychedelic dreams all night which kept waking me up Hmm

Got home yesterday to a latter from my solicitor with lots of questions from my buyer. I've never done this selling lark before so I don't know if that's normal? I've also found out that the stupid housing association who own 50% of my apartment have been ignoring all requests for information. If they hold up my sale by being assess I will have to unleash pregnant lady rage on them!

Off to see the midwife again today. It's almost getting to be routine now.

OP posts:
BunchOfBobs · 18/05/2016 07:22

Morning all,

I say unleash it regardless potato. That way they know not to mess you around anymore.
What kind of questions are the buyers asking? I've bought twice but never sold, never really asked any questions to the vendor though.

I think my medication has stopped working as I had heartburn from hell all yesterday and I still have it now. My hips are agony and from early afternoon I was resembling a balloon again. I felt very sorry for myself last night then watched the film Precious which snapped me out of it.

Pip is getting so strong and waking me up with full on dancing. He's at it as I type.

I go to my 28 week appointment on Tuesday Potato I know what you mean, feels like 5 minutes since I had my 25 week one. Every fortnight from now I think.

shelbTa · 18/05/2016 07:54

Morning all

Good luck today miley!

Potato - have you got a solicitor acting for you? Cant remember, they should be sorting all that crap out for you.

I've got a bit of period pain this morning. Reckon all alright? 25+2.

X

PotatosMum · 18/05/2016 07:57

Bunch I think it's the vendors solicitors asking questions not the vendor themselves. Some of them are silly things like I put the wrong date on the fixtures and fittings but other bits are way above my head, like they want to know if I have a copy of indemnity for the purchase of the land before the building was constructed... It's an apartment block, why the heck would I have that???
I think it's normal process though so I'm not worried. Smile

Sucks about the medication stopping working. Hopefully it's just a blip.

Potato has ramped up the wiggling too. It was very distracting at work yesterday. I think it's just that to begin with you can only really feel them if you're paying attention or sitting quietly. Now I feel Potato whenever she chooses to kick.

That reminds me. DSD was getting very cross with her dad and I at the weekend because we refused to admit that Potato will have a name other than Potato. She's really nosey and hates it when people won't tell her things (even if it's just a case of you dropping something and saying "bother" Wink she will be all "what, what happened? Tell me!") and she will bug you until you do.
Not being part of the secret of Potato's name is driving her mad but she also couldn't keep a secret to save her life so there's no chance we can tell her, the entire family and her mums family and the postman would know by the end of the day! Confused

OP posts:
PotatosMum · 18/05/2016 07:59

Shelb yep I've got a solicitor. They have fielded the questions but it's not really anything they can answer without me. Things like, do I have a copy of this or that, has this work been done since the build, if so do I have this warranty. That sort of thing.

OP posts:
Planeteer · 18/05/2016 08:09

Good luck today Miley.

Potato I reckon ramp up the assertiveness/pg rage from the word go. Might light a fire under the solicitors and get them talking to each other more! We found with our last purchase that the communication between our guy and the vendors guy was shocking!

I've had a burning, stitch like pain under my ribs and around my back on one side all night. Have barely slept and it's still proper sore. Anyone else had this? Normal stretchy stuff do we think? Am 18+4, with a bump that people keep saying is massive...

shelbTa · 18/05/2016 08:23

Yeah planet I've had exactly this on the left side. Doc said left side is ok as no major organs there, if on right side keep an eye on it as you have your gall bladder etc over that side.

X

Planeteer · 18/05/2016 08:31

Thanks Shelb. It's on the left so will not worry too much. Ow, though!

Danni89 · 18/05/2016 08:51

Sounds like heartburn planeteer... Gasviscon is your friend.

Good luck today miley!

Mileymoocow · 18/05/2016 09:13

Morning all, thank you for the luck. I didn't think I'd be nervous for this one but I stupidly read what they look for and now I'm a little bit massively freaking out. I also have a private hospital appointment this afternoon organised by my solicitor from when I broke my foot at work 2 years ago so it's all busy for me today!

PotatosMum · 18/05/2016 10:05

Miley good luck for the scan Grin

Planet I haven't had that problem so no words of wisdom I'm afraid.

Unfortunately because my apartment is part buy (I own 50% the housing association own 50%) it's a bit more complicated than a normal sale. My solicitors and my vendors solicitors appear to be communicating quite well but the housing association are not replying to emails or letters. I've now phones them and found out that the person dealing with the sale of my flat won't even be in the office until 1pm.
I hate the housing association. When I bought the conveyance took nearly 6 months because of them! I thought it was just because it was a brand new build and they had to draft 23 new contracts but now I just think they are completely incompetent! Sad
