Congratulations mollie!!! Eeeeee so many babies!

eastend i would be absolutely fuming too, especially starting again so close to due date! Hope you're okay this morning & managed to get some rest Flowers

iamdivergent · 26/05/2016 06:40

Spock27 · 26/05/2016 06:48

strawberrypenguin · 26/05/2016 07:28

Congratulations mollie glad the sweep did the trick.

clarish84 · 26/05/2016 07:39

Congratulations mollie

dollydaydream84 · 26/05/2016 07:46

Congratulations Mollie fantastic news :)

emma85x · 26/05/2016 07:48

eastend I would be really annoyed. It's also so important he stops before your baby arrives. However as an ex-smoker myself I know how hard it is to stop! I highly recommend 10 motives disposable electric cigarettes (£5.99 from Tesco) as I stopped overnight using these. Fingers crossed you get an apology and a cuddle this morning!!

strawberry I hope your first night with Bertie went well!

emma85x · 26/05/2016 07:49

mollie I missed this!! Huge congratulations!!

Eastend2015 · 26/05/2016 08:45

Congratulations Mollie!!

Thanks ladies. Emma he managed to switch from proper cigarettes to e-cigarettes about 3 years ago and then managed to give up the e-cigarettes in November when we found out this pregnancy was progressing well. He was an absolute nightmare coming off them though- super irritable and borderline depressed (I think the stuff that's in those must be so addictive!!) and it was really hard for me to cope with alongside morning sickness. He says he isn't starting again but I'm not convinced!! It causes real issues between us as I've never smoked I can't really empathise!

Torfhinn · 26/05/2016 08:49

Congratulations mollie, so glad baby is here safe and well!

I'd be pretty annoyed as well eastend, it's such a powerful habit though. Hope you got some rest.

Pain, pain, pain here this morning Sad Thank goodness MIL is coming round to help with DS - i can barely look after myself, let alone him!

GrubbyWindows · 26/05/2016 09:12

Yay mollie fantastic news!!!! Congratulations!!! The second spontaneous birth on the thread, and we've still got a good few days of May to go, tee hee!

Ugh torf that sounds grim, yay that your MIL is coming to the rescue so you can rest!

eastend not at all unreasonable. For heavens sake! No taking up smoking again- he's done the hard bit already, he's just making a rod for his own back by putting himself through it again (and yours argh)

Eastend2015 · 26/05/2016 09:57

Thanks Grubby, I could just about understand going back to e-cigs but start the really vile smelling stuff again?! Still annoyed, especially as I lay awake fuming and I could hear him snoring from the next room!!

laughingGnomette · 26/05/2016 10:02

Mollie'- huuuuuuge congratulations!!

Goodness me, half of the babies won't be born on in June at this rate!

Torf :( oh you poor thing, I'm really pleased you're getting some help though. Rest up as much as you can.

Eastend2015 · 26/05/2016 10:05

On a lighter note, I was debriefing my dad about our hospital meeting yesterday and he asked me whether ladies still get shaved by hospital staff to make it easier if they need stitches! Shock I didn't know what to say, TMI to share with your dad, no? (Esp as I have recently performed a DIY job with exactly this in mind!!)

MagicDucky · 26/05/2016 10:07

Congratulations mollie! Enjoy your cuddles!

I'd be annoyed too eastend! I've been lucky, OH doesn't smoke. However came home after a night drinking with his friends and stank. Could quite clearly tell he had been smoking. I was told to "get a grip, it's not like I did it when you were there, it's only if I'm drinking." Fabulous.

This morning has been rubbish. I feel awful choked with the cold, DD had an accident so I've had to changer her sheets and scrub the floor. And now I'm getting more uncomfortable BH. When is bed time?!

Spock27 · 26/05/2016 10:31

The smell of cigarettes is awful, I probably would have been sick on him! My dh isn't allowed to drink at the moment in case he needs to drive me to the hospital, Scottish minimum blood alcohol is so low that he could only have half a pint anyway. I hope you get an apology today!

Eastend2015 · 26/05/2016 10:43

I think they feel they need get all this naughtiness out of their systems before babies arrive. Too bad we don't have the choice and end up being the cranky ball and chain!!

wigelspigels · 26/05/2016 10:45

Congrats Mollie Grin

MollieRos · 26/05/2016 11:40

Thanks everyone! currently enjoying some skin to skin cuddles while he sleeps, looking like butter wouldn't melt. It wasn't this peaceful between 3am and 6am when it was DH's turn to sleep!! Grin

I started getting contractions about 12 hours after the sweep. They were 2-3 mins apart after a couple of hours, and stayed that regular for about 4 hours. The hospital asked me to go in to be checked as I had to start antibiotics asap in labour. They were very regular but weren't very strong so I was reluctant we were going in too early, sure enough they sent me home again- as soon as I got to hospital the contractions pretty much stopped. Back to 2 mins apart as soon as we got home (white coat syndrome!!) so back to hospital a few hours later. They examined me and I was 5cm, then things suddenly ramped up and he was born half an hour later... we didn't even get the bags out of the car!! No time for antibiotics even, never mind water or any other pain relief- luckily I had gas and air which did nothing for the pain but did a fine job of giving me an out of body experience Grin So in the end things were a bit of a whirlwind!

Hope everyone else with new babies is getting into the swing of things!

JulieBolton79 · 26/05/2016 11:47

Congratulations strawberry and Mollie FlowersFlowers

Eastend2015 · 26/05/2016 12:56

Wow Mollie! Maybe tmi, but did you tear given things went so quickly? I've been warned I may have a rapid labour and the midwife needs to be extra vigilant about tearing Confused

Spock27 · 26/05/2016 13:19

Had my 38 week midwife appointment today and it didn't go that well. Midwife is concerned as I've been been itchy recently, and have swelling in my hands and feet. My blood pressure has always been fine and I was expecting that would calm my worries but it was quite high today :( got bloods taken, does anyone know what the next step is if they show anything to be concerned about? Is it just monitoring or would they want to induce or do a c section? Thanks! X

AmIseeingRight · 26/05/2016 13:33

Congrats mollie so jealous that your sweep worked. I'm getting another one tomorrow so FC here coz can't wait to meet my LO. Smile

GrubbyWindows · 26/05/2016 14:25

Wow mollie that was a rollercoaster! I do love a birth story...
eastend are they having you do perineal massage? Apparently it makes all the difference, but I can't really get the motivation to keep it up... There is a balloon thing you can buy for about 100 quid which is apparently amazing for avoiding tears, but not very affordable!

Ouf spock how stressful!! I'd have expected the midwife to have explained what happens next- presumably it depends on what comes back from the bloods. Maybe give her a ring and ask for more clarity? Do they think it's OC? or preeclampsia? If the latter I'd have expected her to send you straight to the hospital for assessment, so fingers crossed its not!

Eastend2015 · 26/05/2016 14:33

Grubby yup the consultant midwife was strongly in favour of perineal massage, tonight's task Blush!

Spock oh no! I agree with grubby on following up. Hugs!
