Ilovepies - they usually write it as 3/5 palpable so actually it's 2/5 in the pelvis.

Fully engaged is none palpable.

clarish84 · 13/05/2016 08:35

Yeah it really is nice to see it out to be used again and sort of sad know this will be the last time x

Aww Emma sorry for horrible experience x

Homeboddy49 · 13/05/2016 08:46

Hi All

Haven't been on here for a few weeks but I've been keeping up with everyone.

DH gets back today after being away working for 3 weeks. It will be fantastic having him home.

I have my first NCT class tomorrow but DH can't make it so feeling a bit strange about that. DH works away so much, I get fed up of going to things on my own all the time. oh well....

34 weeks this Sunday, can't believe I have got this far and only 3 weeks left at workSmile

emma that is so awful about your MW appt yesterday. She really shouldn't be making you feel so awful about it. I don't think 2 stone is actually bad though? Think how much of that is your baby, how much is water and the placenta plus all the extra blood you have pumping around so a small amount of that is weight gain which you have to gain in order for your baby to grow healthy. Plus, you are near the end of your pregnancy, it's not like you have put on 2 stone at 20weeks!!!

MollieRos · 13/05/2016 08:53

ILove fingers crossed for you that growth has slowed. It is disappointing, I'm in the same boat but for the opposite reason- they're scanning me at 39 weeks and if growth hasn't sped up they'll likely induce. So I'll send "slow down baby" thoughts your way, and if you could send "get a bit fatter baby" thoughts to me that'd be great Grin

Sorry you've had such a bad experience emma I wonder what she was hoping to achieve by having a go at you?! I hope you have some kinder midwives in labour.

earlgreydrinker · 13/05/2016 09:05

emma I think 2 stone is a perfectly normal amount to put on to be honest.
I've put on 2.5 stone as of yesterday (almost 36 weeks) and was at the higher end of a normal weight to start with. I put on over 3 stone last time (despite exercising regularly to 34 weeks) but lost about a stone of that when baby was born!

home my DH has been away a lot (most of April) and has been travelling this month too. Getting fed up, especially when his flight got cancelled last night and he is still not home. If it was down to him nothing would be ready for the baby! One last trip on Monday then I've told him he can't go again this month just in case!

The consultant told me the baby was well fixed in my pelvis so it must be engaged. Definitely felt like it last night - so uncomfortable in my pelvis. But heading down must be a good thing?

Hope all well nehagarg

cautiousoptimist1 · 13/05/2016 09:11

emma that's awful, hope you get better treatment in the hospital. I can't work in stones but it doesn't sound too much to me at this stage of pregnancy.

Hope things are progressing for nehagarg.

biking hope you're not too tired today and your neighbour gets to meet her LO soon.

LouLou030783 · 13/05/2016 09:16

She had a go at you!! How dare she especially with said thyroid issue aswell cheeky witch, bet she wasn't exactly super slim herself and ur doing slimming world so u are trying to be careful but do u know what sometimes no matter what u do its not good enough.

Where will u be having ur baby emma?

ILovePies · 13/05/2016 09:22

emma I'm so sorry she spoke to you that way, what a horrible experience for you. I have a high bmi too, my consultant has written a note to my mw that I need to be weighed at next app... dreading it! Hope you're feeling okay. Flowers

Thanks mollie will definitely send you big baby vibes! Going to keep positive until next scan, growth may have slowed down! Just glad baby is healthy :)

home how lovely for you to have DH back. :)

GrubbyWindows · 13/05/2016 09:23

emma that's so crummy!!! What on earth does she want you to do over the next 5 weeks??? Eat not a morsel??? What a rubbish midwife!

36 weeks today, waiting for my last scan. Not quite sure what the point of this one is, but there you go. Couldn't sort childcare so DS is getting a look too- he's super excited!

JulieBolton79 · 13/05/2016 09:38

Wow Ilovepies baby is growing at a fair rate! Shock I'm sure it'll be fine anyway growth scans aren't always right, fx baby comes naturally and next scan shows a slow down in growth.
Emma I think your weight gain is normal and even if it's higher than the guidelines what right does she have speaking to you like that! Completely unhelpful and unnecessary.
MW are there for support not to police you. Angry

laughingGnomette · 13/05/2016 09:39

Angry emma - I can't believe she had a go at you! I put in 3 stone in my last pregnancy and no one worried or had a go at me. She really should have been constructive rather than critical. What did she hope she was going to achieve I wonder apart from increasing your stress levels?! Grr!!! Angry

strawberrypenguin · 13/05/2016 10:17

That sounds rubbish emma doesn't sound like that much to me either, sorry you've had a horrible midwife

Hope baby growth slows down for you ilove being nosey so don't feel like you need to answer but what's made you say no drip if you need an induction?

Lovely Moses basket clarish

JulieBolton79 · 13/05/2016 10:46

Sorry clarish I missed the Moses basket, it's a lovely story and so nice you can use it again.
Anyone getting cramps? I woke up with what felt like dull period pain at about 4am, I've also got achy joints and backache too since yesterday Confused had a couple of paracetamol yesterday which helped but don't want to be getting into that habit.
Cramps still here and are constant not intermittent. Probably body having a practice before. It's not painful just 'there' iyswim? Not sure why joints are aching I'm not swollen at all just achy in my hips and knees.

ILovePies · 13/05/2016 10:48

strawberry no its fine! I was on it for 17 hours with my daughter and only got to 4cm, ended with an EMCS. It was also a lot more painful and I was very limited on how mobile I could be. The NICE guidelines also say women who have had a previous section shouldn't have the drip, but my hospital seem to ignore that!!

ILovePies · 13/05/2016 10:53

julie I had similar with DS at 36w. I went in to be monitored because was a bit unsure & they said it was just braxton hicks, and my body getting ready for labour. Fx that's all it is!

JulieBolton79 · 13/05/2016 11:06

Yes I think you are right Ilovepies I'll monitor it and see how I feel. I had cramps last week which went away it's bizarre what the body does Smile

Torfhinn · 13/05/2016 11:58

Emma, everyone puts on weight during pregnancy, overweight or not, and a least 1 stone of it will be baby/amniotic fluid/placenta. Add to that the extra blood in your system and fluid retention in general, your weight gain is perfectly reasonable and normal. That midwife was an idiot and i wouldn't give it another thought. But Flowers

Julie, I've been getting 'period-like' cramps on and off for a few days, especially at night. I think it's just he body gearing up for labour!

JulieBolton79 · 13/05/2016 12:04

Torf I agree** it must be practicing lol

Emma I hope you are ok and have not let the mean MW get to you.

Grubby hope scan was of some use and it's always nice to see bambino and it's lovely DS gets to look too Smile

laughingGnomette · 13/05/2016 12:20

ILovePies - even the manufacturers themselves say syntocinon drip shouldn't be used after csection!

JellyBaby26 · 13/05/2016 13:23

Occasional period pains here too. Quite mild but can feel them. Also super uncomfortable just walking around. Bump goes like a boulder.

Emma I have put on almost 2 stone. I have a normal bmi but still the same!

Upon assessing my stomach last night I have new stretch marks at the top of my bump! I thought I was carrying low but apparently not! Going to be covered in them . Joy!!

How are things nehagarg?

MollieRos · 13/05/2016 13:31

I wonder how nehagarg is getting on? She's not been on since the second propess yesterday, perhaps that means good news!

strawberrypenguin · 13/05/2016 13:43

I'd refuse it under those circumstances too Ilove surprised hospital would ignore the guidelines too!

No cramps here (yet) but I had loads of braxton hicks yesterday. Enjoying having a mostly lazy Mat leave at the moment. Just had a nice nap and I'm working my way through the most of a season of Greys Anatomy that's been storing up on our sky box! Have noticed 4yo DS has started getting very clingy with me the last couple of days though.

dollydaydream84 · 13/05/2016 14:07

emma I am so sorry that your experience with the NHS has been so awful. Sounds like you have got a real meany midwife. I was overweight to begin with (BMI 34) and now 3 stone heavier. Haven't been weighed once by MW and no snarky comments from her. My Mum was overweight when she had me and was continuously warned about how because she was so overweight her blood pressure was bound to be extremely high in pregnancy and she'd end up being admitted. It didn't go high once and loads of her friends who were normal weights had to go in due to high BP so nothing is an exact science. Don't you worry xxx

Midwife said this morning that I might feel period pains as the baby tries to engage its head. It is head down but on an angle and not engaged in the pelvis.

I hope the silence from nehagarg is also good news!

Now on maternity leave wahoo! :D Baby measured a week bigger than normal and is now way above 90th centile! Had a really nice and supportive non judgey chat with the MW about having an ELCS and feel so much better, between that and being on mat leave I feel so much better than I did on Wednesday, getting excited now!

laughingGnomette · 13/05/2016 14:42

dolly - that fab about your chat with mw. Really pleased you are feeling happy.

strawberry - Aahh that sounds blissful! I can't wait for mine to start. Just give more working days left!

laughingGnomette · 13/05/2016 14:43

*give = five!!
