I know there's already a thread up for early Jan babies but couldn't see one for the rest of Jan (probably as I'm jumping the gun a bit here!).

This is my first proper pregnancy and I'm a planner by nature so I need some kind of place to talk about this so I don't drive my DP mad!

Bit about me:
I'm 28
This is baby number one
EDD 6th Jan.

Anyone else want to join me?

Just coming on to say - CRISPBREADS! Yes! I totally forgot about these. I hate bread at the moment because it just isn't crispy enough, and even toast isn't doing it. I had some Ryvitas in the cupboard but they're all gone. I was having them with blue cheese and sweet chilli sauce a few weeks ago (I know I'm not meant to eat blue cheese but it's one of the rules I think is BS, so I'm ignoring it :D )

MagpieCursedTea · 13/06/2016 13:40

Yeah my brain always goes pretty foggy during pregnancy. Struggling to remember my own name at the moment.

broodykg · 13/06/2016 14:27

Hi all!

Just had my booking in appointment with midwife this morning, finally starts to feel a bit more real! Can't wait for early scan on Thursday, fingers crossed for a good strong heartbeat and then some of the lying can stop as will be telling parents at weekend. I'm so excited about that but obviously nervous for the scan. I've had no problems so far though.

Admarks · 13/06/2016 18:13

Hi All, hope your all doing well??

I can totally sympathise with the pregnancy brain - I think my colleagues think I'm losing the plot with all the simple mistakes I keep making as well as my forgetfulness!

Luckily, my symptoms haven't really developed (other than tiredness and needing to eat every couple of hours). I'm 11+1 now and so hoping I escaped. Hope it's beginning to ease off for those of you suffering! FlowersFlowers

Can anyone give me tips on how to sleep on my side? I'm a front sleeper, which is ok for now but is going to cause me some issues in the next few weeks/months! I've tried pillows etc, but seem to revert to my front every night. Side sleeping seems to hurt my shoulders!!

Finally, can anyone tell me who can add me to the secret Facebook group??

CarrotVan · 13/06/2016 18:35

Ad - in my experience you naturally start sleeping on your side as you get further along. I wouldn't worry about it.

Admarks · 13/06/2016 18:39

Thanks Carrot - I'm hoping that's the case. I have just trying to prepare myself for side sleeping to make the change a bit easier but get frustrated with myself for reverting to my tummy. I have been starting to get irrationally upset about it!!

MagpieCursedTea · 13/06/2016 18:39

Have you tried using a long pillow rather than just regular ones? If you have that to lean on it'll stop you from rolling onto your front. I know what you mean about it being painful. I get that in my hips. It feels like they're being crushed. I got it last pregnancy too. I find propping with pillows helps a bit but I have to move around regularly before I fall asleep or it gets too painful. I'm always sore when I wake up though!
If you PM EvansAndThePrince your email address, she can add you to the FB group.

We have had a lovely holiday - now I'm catching up on the washing...and it's not nice enough to dry outside, so running up an epic electric bill, no doubt!

My symptoms have ramped up a little bit - I've had my first few morning of dry heaving - and evenings of feeling pretty sick - but no actual chucking stuff back up yet, for which I am truly thankful. My boobs are a bit achy now and again, feeling a few stretches here and there but so far not much else. I'm a bit bemused that this is so different to last time, but quite pleased, as so far life is manageable, which is helpful with a toddler! (For those of you who are new, our toddler - actually, he's a little boy really, nearly three! - was born in an emergency at 27 weeks last time, and spent 10 weeks in NICU. Also, my sickness last time was pretty grotty too, so all in all, not my favourite chapter of my life!)

I guess we should start compiling a stats post - maybe on the next thread? We're heading towards thread two now :)

I have my booking in on Weds. We've told my In Laws, so MIL is babysitting. Had to really - I was feeling so grotty on holiday and being a bit of a bitch, so felt the need to justify my unjustifiableness!

PS - Jodie - I love your phrase 'God willing'. It's one we use frequently.

swancourt · 13/06/2016 20:10

Thanks for the welcome signorita!

I am so restless at the moment that I'm sleeping in basically every position.

I figure that before researchers said we should all sleep on our left, we all just did whatever and the human race survived. So while I'm trying to go to sleep on my left and correcting myself to it when I wake up 99 million times a night, I'm not worrying about it. Soon our tummies will be so big we won't be able to get on them to sleep anyway!

Tabitha78 · 13/06/2016 20:16

Magpie unfortunately you need your mat certificate to get the first class seat.

Hels I had thought about getting a tfl badge, but because I have my Brompton with me I figure people will just laugh at me. Thing is I generally feel fine on the bike, it's being cooped up in a carriage that bothers me (although I'm not sure how long I'll be able to keep cycling for!)

Admarks · 13/06/2016 20:30

I've been looking at long pillows magpie but there's so many to choose from! Some of them look quite scary (they look huge in the photos) plus I'm not sure they would fit in the bed, also, do they make you really hot??

Surf25 · 13/06/2016 21:24

Hi all! Not been posting much, but checking in now and then and it's nice to keep up with what is going on with everyone. I had my booking in as well today, so it was good to get this small milestone done! Should have NHS scan in three weeks or so. Looking forward to seeing the little bub, God willing. We use that phrase alot too jodie and signorita
Have all day nausea which is a bit of a battle especially trying to hide it from the kids and work and everyone else! This time will pass... funnily enough am not actually being sick which is unusual for me. Brain mush though- yep! Have been getting lots of quizzical looks at work about some of the things I have been forgetting or confusing! Blush Hope everyone has a good evening. Early nights for me!

CarrotVan · 14/06/2016 08:08

Ad - I used a long bolster pillow in my first pregnancy

I have a UTI. Seeing the GP later

GingerIdiot · 14/06/2016 08:28

Hi all,

Thanks for the welcome! A quick question ... is anyone else getting plagued with horrible dreams?! Scary, nasty, sad, I'm having a whole variety!

MagpieCursedTea · 14/06/2016 08:36

Ginger I've been having really vivid dreams, sometimes quite unpleasant ones. Apparently it's pretty common in pregnancy, not sure what causes it though. I'm going to guess hormones! My recurring dream from my first pregnancy has come back again though. It's one where I desperately need to go to the toilet but I can't find a clean one to use. I always wake up desperate to pee. I dread to think what would happen if I found a clean toilet in my dream Blush

Carrot I hope you feel better soon!

gingerlou84 · 14/06/2016 09:45

Thanks signorita - nice to have a due date buddy!

Ginger - my dreams have been really vivid. Sometimes sad and scary but mostly just weird!

Astro86 · 14/06/2016 13:09

Hope it clears quick carrotvan

I'm having the vivid dreams too, at the moment I keep having nightmares about our trip to the US next month, PiL are coming to look after DS for the week and I just keep dreaming of awful things happening or him being really upset and we're stuck in another country. (Rationally I know he's 5 and understands we'll be back in a week, will have an amazing time being spoilt by lovely, caring grandparents and the chances of something happening is so slim).

Those awful dreams aside I keep dreaming of food, strawberries, mint feast ice lollies and this morning Chinese food from a takeaway...

I'm quite short (5ft1) and found the body pillows too big so used a v pillow last time as I could keep one end between my knees to help my hips and then the other end supporting the bump.

hels18 · 14/06/2016 16:18

Ginger definitely experiencing the weird vivid dreams!

I have also just had 4 days of feeling so sick and was completely off my food. I really had to force myself to eat anything and just felt generally grotty. Thankfully have my midwife appointment on Thursday so looking forward to asking the giant list of questions I have accumulated now!

Parney · 14/06/2016 19:02

Thanks for the warm welcome Signorita!!

Admarks are we DD buddies? I'm 11+2 today, New Year's Day is my EDD.

I have vivid dreams anyway, but they've really been cracked up a notch!! They're mostly food related- waking up having dreamt I'd been eating everything on the no list for pregnancy. They feel so real! I always need to owe in my dream too Magpie and I can't find a toilet either. I'm usually running towards one!

Has anyone completely 'outed' their news yet??

Parney · 14/06/2016 19:03

Pee* not owe

Admarks · 14/06/2016 19:25

Hi Parney I'm 11+2 too! My Ovia app is saying EDD of 01/01, reassurance scan last week gave tentative of 31/12. Dating scan on Tuesday so more details then. When's your dating scan (I'm sure you posted earlier on this thread but I can't remember!)

Admarks · 14/06/2016 19:28

Having weird dreams too (pre-pregnancy I never remembered my dreams so it's quite a new experience for me) - last night I dreamt I went clubbing with my cat and she was up on the podiums etc. I've not been clubbing for about 15 years and was never into it. Been having flashbacks all day to my cat dancing!!

gingerlou84 · 14/06/2016 19:31

Parney - My husband and I have told our families and best friends. It's early but we took the view that if the worst happens, we'd need/want the support of our loved ones. Those we have told are also praying types, so we wanted their support in that way too. I know that's not what everyone does - it's a very personal decision. Also, we are both stupidly excited and I am very bad at keeping secrets :) I intend to keep it from work for as long as I can though.

MagpieCursedTea · 14/06/2016 20:32

I've only told my parents, in laws and one friend. If all goes well at the scan on Thursday then we'll tell a few more people. A good friend has just had an ectopic pregnancy and we'd have been due around the same time. I want to put off telling her for a while, I think it's going to be difficult anyway but it just seems too soon. So we're holding off going completely public for a few weeks.

hopingandwaiting · 14/06/2016 20:36

We've told some good friends and I told my boss today as I'm gonna need time off for midwife appointments and scans etc so it'll be easier. She knew I was having fertility treatment so it wasn't a big surprise. Telling parents on Sunday as we've got them together for a meal for my 30th - gonna have to explain the no fizzy wine somehow!!!
