I know there's already a thread up for early Jan babies but couldn't see one for the rest of Jan (probably as I'm jumping the gun a bit here!).

This is my first proper pregnancy and I'm a planner by nature so I need some kind of place to talk about this so I don't drive my DP mad!

Bit about me:
I'm 28
This is baby number one
EDD 6th Jan.

Anyone else want to join me?

I've just read over the posts since I was last on and nodded at nearly everything! Wind - I get awful trapped wind at the best of times but I'd forgotten how bad I was with DS (actually ended up calling 111 when pregnant with him, begging for them to be able suggest something!). Being either starving or not able to look at food, though wearing my sea bands has helped (whether it's a placebo or not I don't care, I made fajitas for tea and they were tasty!).

And the SPD is back, I have hypermobility syndrome and sometimes need a walking stick, so knew I'd be likely to get it back, wasn't expecting it before 12 weeks though. I'm under physio's orders to push for referral sooner rather than later, not to be a martyr and just take the crutches...!

Oh and baby brain, nothing beyond general forgetfulness and daft conversation so far, but when pregnant with DS we lived in a basement flat, I kept going out to hang the washing in the communal garden forgetting the Yale lock...I was very lucky we had sash Windows and I was (just) strong enough to haul myself up through the bathroom window! Did that more than once between 6 and 12 weeks!

Booking appointment with MW tomorrow, I honestly keep having dreams where she tells me I'm not pregnant and it's all in my head! Hmm

CarrotVan · 08/06/2016 10:00

A friend of mine had SPD badly in her first pregnancy found it was the first symptom in her second pregnancy - before she got a positive test

MagpieCursedTea · 08/06/2016 10:05

I didn't realise it could happen this early until pregnancy I started getting pains. Anyone know if it'll stay at the same level or is it inevitable that it will get worse? I only had a bit of hip pain last time so this is all new!

gingerlou84 · 08/06/2016 11:48

This may be a stupid question, but for those of you who have already had/booked your first MW appointment, did you get in touch with them or did they contact you? I went to the doctor as soon as I found out I was pregnant but have heard nothing since. Is that normal or should I be chasing the doctor? Thanks!

MagpieCursedTea · 08/06/2016 12:03

I filled in a form at the doctors for them to pass onto the midwife, I then had to call the midwife to book an appointment. It differs by area though, no harm in giving them a call!

hels18 · 08/06/2016 12:16

gingerlou My Dr referred me to the midwife and they then called me to schedule a week later. I was actually very impressed at the efficiency!

swancourt · 08/06/2016 13:46

My doctor had a go at me for taking up her time and not just going to the MW directly. When I said it was different when I had my other children as I was pregnant in a different area to the one I live in now, she said there was no reason it should be different anywhere and made me feel about two centimetres tall!

But when I was pregnant earlier this year I went and told the GP (same surgery but I got a locum) and she didn't tell the midwife or tell me to tell the midwife, and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have got a booking appointment now I've done it the proper way! So if I were you I'd call the surgery and ask about booking with the MW :)

gingerlou84 · 08/06/2016 17:50

Thanks MagpieCursedTea, hels18 and swancourt. I called the doctor today and apparently I have to wait for the hospital/midwife to get in touch. So I guess I just keep waiting! Time seems to be going so slowly....!

Jodie1982 · 08/06/2016 18:40

Got my booking in on Friday. Need to write all my previous pregnancy history down beforehand this time as I'll go in and get a huge brain fart as usual Grin this us now my 12th pregnancy 😱 ( god willing 6th child)
I've had a horrible day. Feel so ill. Sad
How is everyone?

LucySB123 · 08/06/2016 19:23

Late to the game but can I join? Due with DC2 on 7 Jan after more than a year of ttc. Contrary to other people's experience, I'm actually more anxious this pregnancy than my first. Had a private reassurance scan at 8wk which revealed a lovely strong single heartbeat (Dh was hoping for two as he wants 3 kids). Waiting for my 12wk scan in 2 wks. Really excited but nervous as well so have not announced it to anyone else.

Astro86 · 08/06/2016 21:30

Hello Lucy , I'm due dc2 around Jan 7 too, and yes to the much higher levels of worry. I don't know if it was just ignorance is bliss last time or that 5 years of being a parent just makes you think the worst all the time...!

I had my booking apt with the midwife today, she seems great and is super pro home birth (not just, this is what's recommended for low risk, but obviously very passionate about it). So fingers crossed everything goes smoothly because I've no clue how we'd work the logistics if I had to give birth in Brighton.

I've not been too sick/nauseated today but my joints and pelvis are so sore, I'm really struggling without my usual pain killers, paracetamol isn't quite cutting it!

I have a driving lesson tomorrow, I ended up in floods of hormonal tears last time so fingers crossed tomorrow goes better..!

gumbootsandjandals · 08/06/2016 21:52

I had pelvic girdle pain in both of my previous pregnancies but I'm sure it didn't kick in til the second trimester. I swear it has started already (I am 6+2). Not sure if the fact I'm still bf is also contributing to it.

LucySB123 · 09/06/2016 08:20

Yeah, I'm finding the pain, wind , constipation and tiredness (!!!!) starting a lot earlier this time as well. Not helpful when I'm trying to demonstrate my productivity to a new team.

SunCrusHH · 09/06/2016 08:22

Hi ladies. Sorry I have been quiet. Sort of getting by with feeling tired and sort of car sick every day! Boobs feel sore then fine and tummy goes from Normal to ultimate bloat! I got the link for the FB group but I'm also going to wait until the scan!

Jodie1982 · 09/06/2016 08:31

My 15mths old decided he wanted to get up at 5am. Woke with a horrible feeling in my chest n throat, like i need to burp but it's stuck 😕 feels quite unpleasant. Tummy felt really empty n sickly, had some toast but now feel yuk, can't win! Lol.

hels18 · 09/06/2016 09:15

Does anyone know if it is ok to take paracetamol? Have woken with a splitting headache which seems to be developing into a migraine, and really want to shift it! Am almost 8 weeks but have read you aren't supposed to take anything in the first trimester..

MagpieCursedTea · 09/06/2016 09:18

Paracetamol is safe even in the first trimester. Hope the headache shifts soon, make sure you're well hydrated too.

hels18 · 09/06/2016 09:35

Brill, thank you magpie

MagpieCursedTea · 09/06/2016 10:00

I think the NHS advice is to take the lowest effective dose and use sparingly but I was told by my midwife that it was okay to use.

TwistyBraStrap · 09/06/2016 10:23

Hi all, I'm very late to this thread, but can I join?

I'm 10 weeks with DC3. This pregnancy was an unexpected surprise! EDD 5th January though I'm not sure I'll last until then, DS was born at 38 weeks and DD at 37 so I'm probably looking at a Christmas baby.

Feeling absolutely awful, constant nausea, the thought of food makes me feel even more sick unless it's a craving! I've also had insomnia (never had this before, though I used to work nights so that's probably why) so I'm knackered all the time. I also have quite a few existing medical conditions so I've had to adjust a lot of my medication which has been very hard. I'm lucky to have such a supportive DH and the DCs have been fantastic - they know Mum's not feeling well but they don't know why.

I've got my 12 week scan in 2 weeks, very much looking forward to seeing the baby and making sure everything is okay.

Jodie1982 · 09/06/2016 17:14

Hi TwistyBraStrap
Congrats.

I've got the insomnia already, even though I'm knackered all the time, never had insomnia at 9wks always has been much later on.

swancourt · 09/06/2016 20:53

Hi twisty - I'm also 10+2 with DC3. I also feel like crap! Have felt better than I did with my two girls - with DD2 I was throwing up at least once a day and often much more from 6-16 weeks. I started feeling nauseous 2-3 weeks ago but in waves and it's not too bad. Then last week I got a humdinger of a cold and it made the nausea worse. And this week I still feel crap. Last night I woke up at midnight and had a spectacular projectile vomit across just about every surface in my bathroom - as I burst in to get to the loo it just went everywhere. BLEURGH.

But only 2-3 more weeks and it should start getting better again. Both times before it was properly gone by 15-16 weeks.

Mostly I'm sick of being hungry but hating the thought of food!

Jeanniejampots80 · 09/06/2016 23:42

Jumping ship from the Feb thread as at my first appt (in Ire) scan said I was further along than my LMP suggested. Was not expecting anything on the scan but saw a heartbeat and everything. Was only off pill a month so cycle must have been weird. This is DC2 hopefully and I have a 2yr DD.

MagpieCursedTea · 10/06/2016 08:02

Welcome Jeannie! When is your due date? Must've been lovely to see that little heartbeat!

Jeanniejampots80 · 10/06/2016 08:33

It was Magpie made it more real as got pregnant much quicker than expected (obviously this was great :) ) due Jan 25th hopefully :)
