I know there's already a thread up for early Jan babies but couldn't see one for the rest of Jan (probably as I'm jumping the gun a bit here!).

This is my first proper pregnancy and I'm a planner by nature so I need some kind of place to talk about this so I don't drive my DP mad!

Bit about me:
I'm 28
This is baby number one
EDD 6th Jan.

Anyone else want to join me?

Jeannie I'm due 24th but opposite to you I'm less far along than my lmp would suggest :)

I'm with toying taking holiday here and there over the next few weeks as I'm tired and finding work hard. My holiday renews in October so I can't carry any over. But I don't know when I'll need it most.

Tabitha78 · 10/06/2016 09:13

Morning all!

Had a private scan last night at 6+5, before telling our parents. All's looking good so far and beanie's little heart was beating away Smile

Still no proper nausea just seem to gag every now and again!

MagpieCursedTea · 10/06/2016 09:47

Great news Tabitha!

Releashi booking regular time off sounds like a good idea! Do you have to give a lot of notice for leave?

releashi · 10/06/2016 10:22

MagpieCursedTea They're pretty relaxed I can do short notice once in a while but I try to give them a few days or a week. My work just waits for me to come back so unless there are too many of us off at once it is fine.

gingerlou84 · 10/06/2016 14:38

I'm beginning to think I may need to take some time off too. Absolutely exhausted at work today. I can hardly keep my eyes open!

Jeanniejampots80 · 11/06/2016 00:06

My nausea is so much worse this time. No vomiting just all day nausea. Off next week and just looking forward to being able to lie down when I need it......well when possible with DD.

sunnypeony · 11/06/2016 10:29

Had a private scan this morning- little heart was beating away, it still doesn't seem real...!
Am constantly exhausted and nauseous- when does the "glow" kick in?!!

Astro86 · 11/06/2016 20:05

I thought I posted yesterday, but was obviously so exhausted I dreamt it! Helped out on DS school trip (150 kids a the beach!), was great fun but soo tired!

My 12wk scan appointment came through for June 29th, referral only went on Weds and they even looked at the note my MW wrote about specific dates my DH is able to come, very impressed with how quick it came and for one of the dates we asked for! Feels like I can't be too annoyed that my scan is at Hove Polyclinic then I've got to bus across Brighton to the antenatal dept at the hospital for the nuchal bloods.

I can't decide if my nausea is getting better or not, mornings are worse (particularly if I lie in and don't eat early on) but my afternoons are much better till evening.

I'm noticing that my sacrum, which was badly pushed out when I was pregnant with DS, is starting to flare up badly. I'm trying to keep up with my pelvic floor exercises using the squeezy app in the hope it helps...

Anyway, lovely to read about happy scans for those that have had them the last couple of days! Smile

releashi · 12/06/2016 14:03

Hey astro are you based in Brighton? I am. My scan isn't till the 12th of July I think it's all at the hospital which is great as I can't drive.

Tabitha78 · 12/06/2016 18:05

I'm spent today. I really can't remember the last time I did absolutely nothing! Also cracked open the prune juice for the first time Hmm. It's vile!

Astro86 · 12/06/2016 18:17

Ooo I'm down the road Releashi, just the other side of Lewes. I can't drive either (yet, test booked for the end of August!), thank goodness for Google maps though as I don't know Brighton all that well yet so hopefully it won't be too bad on the day. I think the majority of appointments are all at the hospital but my MW was saying that now they don't offer the scans at Lewes Hosp we sometimes get squeezed in all over!

Astro86 · 12/06/2016 18:20

I'm in awe Tabitha I can't drink prune juice even when I'm not fighting morning sickness! I find dried apricots help things along for me (plus they're good for iron levels).

MagpieCursedTea · 12/06/2016 18:27

I'm finding drinking orange juice is helping with that issue. Orange juice and lemonade is one of the only drinks I can stomach at the moment. A bit worried about the high sugar content though (even with diet lemonade).

releashi · 12/06/2016 19:09

That's a pain astro, hove poly clinic was OK when I went for some tests before I had no idea where it was either I've always lived the Brighton end. Very efficient.

Magpie now I want orange juice and lemonade.

I just wish I could turn off my nose nothing smells good even clean washing is doing me in.

hopingandwaiting · 12/06/2016 20:36

So I've been super awkward with food this weekend - stretching my wife's patience pretty thin! Have developed a love for philadelphia on crispbreads though. And have found that ice lollies really help the nausea (and the hot flashes that seem to accompany it) - particularly good as I'm struggling to drink enough because I feel either full and bloated, or starving and sick all the time. Also, bought a nightie today as waistbands seem to be causing issues... I can wear nighties continuously for the next 32 weeks right??!!

MagpieCursedTea · 12/06/2016 20:48

Yes! I may start living in nightwear too. If enough of us do it, we'll start a trend.

GingerIdiot · 12/06/2016 22:18

Hello!

I'm new to this thread. I'm expecting my first baby (EDD 23/01/2017) and would love to talk to other people in the same position! SO pleased to find this group (though probably won't have time to catch up on all 917 previous posts...).

I'm currently a mixture of nauseous, hit by a bus tired, over the moon, unreal, sometimes anxious, mostly optimistic, and every now and then feeling out of my depth about the huge number of things that lay ahead. (Anyone else googling isofix car seats at 2am? Dying of shock at casually googling nurseries and discovering they cost more than your rent? Trying not to jump too far ahead in the What To Expect book?)

I had severe abdominal pain (most likely because of endometriosis) between 4 and 6 weeks so ended up in the Early Pregnancy Unit. But last week we had our second scan and saw a tiny bean with a heartbeat ... an amazing moment and such a relief!

Nice to meet you all.

GingerIdiot · 12/06/2016 22:20

PS hopingandwaiting YES, nothing like Philadelphia on crispbread and ice lollies!

Tabitha78 · 13/06/2016 07:50

Welcome Ginger! I've always hated apricots Astro but am struggling to like anything much at the moment! I'm currently sitting on the floor of the train, as there are no seats, feeling rubbish. Can't sit in first class until you're 5 months gone Hmm

MagpieCursedTea · 13/06/2016 08:34

Welcome Ginger!

That's rubbish Tabitha! How would they even know whether you're 5 months or not? And surely you need it just as much at this stage!

CarrotVan · 13/06/2016 09:28

Welcome Ginger.

My SPD has hit so a sleepless and painful night. Must dig out my gym ball and SPD yoga stretches.

Still nauseous (but no actual vomming) and still tired. A bit less bloated perhaps but waistbands aren't good.

I bought some lightweight jersey to make a maxi skirt, a kneelength skirt and PJ bottoms - all with yoga band tops (no elastic, just a very deep waistband that you fold over on itself). In my first pregnancy I had a pair of yoga waistband work trousers and they were the most comfortable thing ever

CarrotVan · 13/06/2016 09:39

I think I needed a seat on the train far more in the early months than later. I'm very glad we've now got a second car and I don't have to worry about the train issues.

hels18 · 13/06/2016 09:59

Tabitha I had to apply for a bump on board badge from tfl as the trains, tubes and buses make me feel so incredibly sick when I am standing. I've had to ask once if someone would move since having it, but since I'm not yet 12 weeks, have to wear the badge discretely in case I bump into acquaintances at the station!
My rail network allow you to apply for a maternity first class pass (to use only if the train is full) once you reach 12 weeks, but you have to submit your maternity certificate as proof.

gingerlou84 · 13/06/2016 12:55

Just a tip on the TFL badges, you can get them from any of the booths in the stations - you don't need to wait and write off. I got one the other day as the nausea means I need to sit down, especially at rush hour on the Northern Line, which is so hot! The lady who gave it to me was so sweet (handed it to me very discretely and whispered 'congratulations'). I keep it pinned to a scarf so I can quickly turn it over if I see anyone I know!

gingerlou84 · 13/06/2016 12:58

PS - Is anyone else finding their brain a bit scrambled? My job requires me to be switched on at all times and silly mistakes keep creeping through - obviously no one at work knows I'm pregnant, so I have no excuse. :(
