I think we will find out the gender - we did with DD and, while a lot of her baby stuff is unisex, there are bits I could sell if it was a boy.

swancourt · 12/05/2016 09:30

I'm going to tell work after my 12 week scan, although I told a colleague yesterday that I was panicking about miscarriage. She's a blabber, so I don't know what possessed me actually. But work know I'm trying for a baby as I had to tell them about my last mc. They're brilliant and supportive so I'm lucky there.

Scan tomorrow. Tempted to call up and ask for it today instead (it's a private scan). Lost all my symptoms yesterday and then took a test and it was fainter than the control. Had a huge panic, cried all the way home on the train, then read about the 'hook effect' and did another two tests, one with an ordinary sample and the other with the same sample diluted with 50% water - and hey presto, it came out darker. Seems too early (6+5 now) for that to be happening to me, but still, it's giving me some hope.

Got a stack of work to do today though before school run (working from home) and then my DD has a friend coming over for a play date, so I don't really see how I can fit it in.

underrugsswept · 12/05/2016 09:48

STEP AWAY FROM THE PEE STICKS! Flowers

NotAClue82 · 12/05/2016 10:30

Yes I agree with underrug! You are pregnant now, stop peeing on sticks! I hope you will be reassured by your scan soon.

nightcap · 12/05/2016 11:40

kippers they make you pay 50 quid to tell you if you're having a boy or a girl? Isn't that just something they'll see on the screen and it costs them nothing to tell you, or am I missing something? Sounds a bit outrageous if there's no justifiable reason for it.

i'm planning to find out at the 20 week scan, i'm too impatient to wait for the surprise and I find boys' names so impossible that it'll save us the hassle of thinking of yet another one we can agree on if it's a boy! All my top options got roundly vetoed last time...

Helgathehairy · 12/05/2016 11:47

DH normally does the grocery shop (I'm an impulse buyer - the bills go down when DH does it!) but I had to pop to the supermarket today. OMG - the bread. I actually couldn't look at it because I wanted it ALL.

I did get sausage rolls and hash browns though.

Bigfam · 12/05/2016 11:47

We're also planning to find out, we have done with all the others. Was thinking of having a 3d scan done as well, they look quite smart.
Hope you're OK lovely Flowers

Bigfam · 12/05/2016 11:49

(Should of said that was for bow)

ChocolateRaisin · 12/05/2016 11:51

Hi everyone, another newbie here! I've been lurking for a good few weeks and have been feeling a bit too shy to post until today. I'm 7+3 today, EDD 27th Dec. Very happy surprise for us, we weren't trying and had plans to start trying next year but I am very happy that this is happening. This will be our first baby.

Definitely enjoying carbs at the moment! I'm usually really healthy but yesterday was a blur of tiger bread and white pasta!

Have a private scan booked for next week, my nhs scan isn't until I'm 13 weeks and I can't wait that long! Have been feeling nauseous at times, sore boobs, bloated and tired- so similar to most here.

Counting down the minutes until mid day so I can have my tiger bread ham sandwich...Grin

billabye · 12/05/2016 12:00

I just cried at my booking in appointment Blush

I had a shitty birth with DD and as we were going over it I just started crying. I was ok about it until today but I think because the midwife acknowledged how awful it was it brought it all back to me. She's recommended I have a debrief with the senior midwife which will also involve her helping me with an official birth plan. It's quite reassuring but I'm dreading crying again at going through it Sad

TinySalmon · 12/05/2016 12:03

Welcome chocolate Don't be shy! Grin

helga I literally love you - you make me laugh every time with your posts! Got me thinking about hashbrowns now...

I've had the same Deliveroo driver drop food off at my house the last 3 days. Poor guy, he must think I am the laziest person in the world or I'm secretly feeding a lion upstairs or something.

cnchapmanxx · 12/05/2016 12:22

Hi girls,

not been on for a bit however have been lurking, had my booking in appt yday with my midwife were she called me channing tatum so was in fits of laughter. was really nice and got my dating scan on the 8th june so a week after we get back from america! Still dont really feel pregnant apart from the tiredness, sore boobs, bloating and the occasional nausea havent had it since tuesday. does it just come and go?

picked my hospital going to Durham so excited about that and DH kissed my stomach this morn the first time since finding out so was so emotional about that!
hope everyone else is enjoying pregnancy! xxx

kippersandcurtains · 12/05/2016 12:26

nightcap you are right - they charge for telling you something it costs nothing for them to find out . The photos are extortionate also.
bigfam we had a 3D scan for our second baby at about 28 weeks - it was awesome but just a little bit freaky! He looked, well, exactly like he did when he was born - you see their faces, expressions, hair etc. I probably won't do it again, but it is an incredible experience.
billabye I am sorry to hear you had such a traumatic birth. Perhaps a debrief would be helpful, if you have (understandably) not yet gained any sense of closure. Will you be asking for an elective section, or do you feel ok about giving birth again? Talking about things can often help to break down the fear Flowers
Hello chocolate! Welcome on board - a ham sarnie is now on my urgent list of things to do…

NotAClue82 · 12/05/2016 12:29

Hey bill sorry to hear you had a tough birth with DD. It sounds like your midwife is very supportive. The debrief should be helpful too - Hopefully you'll have a better experience this time around! (For what it's worth I know quite a few women who had a really difficult birth first time and then had either 1) a straightforward vaginal delivery, or 2) a planned section; and all of these women really loved their second birth!).

Thisisbonkers · 12/05/2016 13:26

Roast beef monster munch on a crusty white roll is where it's at.

barkingtreefrog · 12/05/2016 13:27

babydreaming and salmon yes! Same here, two or three days with no bowel movements at all, then 3 or 4 times in one day, not loose, but very urgent!!!! Glad it's not just me!! Wink

nightmare I told my boss this morning as it will take a while to recruit someone in time for them to shadow me for a few months then take over. There's no-one already in the company that is able to do my job. I'm 9+6 today. Given notice periods, it would be too late if I didn't say anything until after 12 weeks. It's slightly different in my case though as they knew I was having ivf and they knew about my miscarriages, so it wasn't a total out of the blue suprise.

Swan what is the hook effect?

I'm sat waiting for my booking in appointment. Rushed to get here on time and sat waiting 20 minutes later... I'm doing that awkward not sure whether to tell someone I'm still waiting thing.... The receptionist sits behind a closed glass window and looks irritated if you approach Hmm

Helgathehairy · 12/05/2016 13:32

tiny thanks!!

bonkers noo. Cheese and onion tayto on white bread (this may be an Irish speciality!) also acceptable to have a slice of ham in the same sandwich.

weechops · 12/05/2016 13:52

Well my healthy eating is going great Confused. Chicken flavour McCoys (2 packets) followed by way too many Choco Leibniz biscuits!! Salad it is for dinner then Grin

lilydaisyrose · 12/05/2016 14:08

Yep I've had a packet of Marylands soft bakes (biscuits) and a tiger roll with butter. Had a banana and a whole punnet of strawberries too as well as lots of lovely fresh pineapple juice (current craving!)

Helgathehairy · 12/05/2016 14:28

TBF though I am eating lots of veggies. I've just cut up some to roast for dinner and I'm not sure the cauliflower will last until I need to cook it.

StubbleTurnips · 12/05/2016 14:54

I'm nearly into double figures with the brioche rolls today's crunchy sugar on the top all swiped from this mornings breakfast buffet.

Majorlyscared1993 · 12/05/2016 15:07

Hi can I join?

As far as I know EDD is December 14. I had ds 27/12/15 so birthdays are pretty close. I'm having some trouble at the moment with a tiny bit of bleeding/discharge and doctors have been quite unhelpful. One even suggested losing my baby might be a blessing in disguise as I have only just had ds Sad

I want this baby so much and pray everything will be ok

Congratulations everybody! X

Majorlyscared1993 · 12/05/2016 15:09

Oh and my cravings are cheesy beans and smelling soap Smile

EmeraldEars · 12/05/2016 15:12

I didn't want to tell my employers until later but had some bleeding on Tuesday morning and was late to work so felt it was better to be honest about what the situation was.

11 days till the scan now and counting down the days. Feel like we're in limbo not knowing if everything is ok or not.

Bigfam · 12/05/2016 15:12

Majorlyscared1993
Hi, I commented on your post about the bleeding you were having, I hope its stopped now Flowers
Angry that's an awful thing for anyone to say, especially a bloody doctor!
Congrats to you too. Have you had your booking in apt yet?
