No smears in pregnancy, thankfully!

English my nausea eased at 8 weeks. Don't worry, it's back!

Theaks · 10/05/2016 17:46

Great thanks bigfam I will ring them in morning and get it postponed.

underrugsswept · 10/05/2016 18:07

Englishgirl I'm 8+4 and haven't felt nauseous for a couple of days. I haven't had much the whole time to be honest so I'm worrying a bit too. I think it can be normal though as the placenta starts working harder.

Mejse · 10/05/2016 18:27

So nice to see all of the good news and scans!

So it turns out that what I thought was going to be just a blood test today was more like my booking in. I saw a nurse at my local doctors and she took my blood, a urine test, height and weight and asked a whole bunch of questions. There was quite a lot of hand gestures and searching for the right words, I don't know many medical terms in danish and the nurse and dh didn't know many in English. As I thought I was just there to have my blood taken I went to the toilet after I arrived, which resulted in me downing 4 glasses of water and having a hard time getting anything out for my urine test. I regretted the 4 glasses of water when I ended up desperate for the toilet while in a shop changing room.

Looks like scan times are exactly the same as in England but I have to go online to book mine. Then I will see my family doctor next week and 2 more times and the midwife i meet for the first time at 14weeks and see her around 5 times. They have put me down for my local hospital which is in walking distance and is actually the biggest hospital in the country, I'm pretty happy with that.

I can't remember who it was who suggested a maxi dress but thank you soo much! I have never even tried one on before but I fell in love today and came home with something nice to wear to the party at the weekend that doesn't show off by big bloated belly Grin

englishgirl · 10/05/2016 18:56

Thank you theaks underrug and southdowns I guess I should make the most of the break then! Pregnancy is a funny old thing isn't it? I'm just trying to relax and do what I can not to worry Smile

Helgathehairy · 10/05/2016 19:19

bigfam aww thanks for thinking of me. Just counting down till DDs bedtime (and watching Peppa Pig)

I actually had my smear last pregnancy before I knew I was pregnant. Then was worried so googled a lot. You actually do have smears in pregnancy in France. It's not because of a risk of miscarriage, it's the result might not be clear. (I did subsequently miscarry but it wasn't related to the smear, it was 5 weeks later)

NurseRosie · 10/05/2016 19:25

Great news Stargirl.
Englishgirl welcome to the club.
My booking in took 2 hours, partly because they couldn't get a vein and had spelt my name wrong on everything.
Has anyone tried a Doppler? My colleague has a proper fetal one she got online and loves it. I'm unsure whether to get one, worried I'll get obsessed x

swancourt · 10/05/2016 19:44

Love the scan pics!

Been worrying about fading symptoms today. Boobs less sore, feeling less nauseous than yesterday, and it didn't hurt so much to sleep on my tummy last night as it did the night before. Sure I'm imagining it/it means nothing though. Can't wait for Friday (scan day!). I feel like I've been preg forever and I'm only 6+3! Had symptoms from 3+0 though, which was only 2 weeks after my miscarriage finally drew to a close. I've basically been in early pregnancy since January! Getting impatient ...

Bigfam · 10/05/2016 19:48

That's OK Helga Smile I know it's grim when you're pregnant and under the weather.
I think I'd be obsessed if I had a Doppler too nurserosie, then would worry if I couldn't find a heartbeat

flapjacklover · 10/05/2016 19:59

Thisisbonkers not just you lovely, I break down at everything I swear half my family and friends think I am going crazy. Got a haircut today and it wasn't quite what I wanted had to hold back the flood. Hubby went to get a takeaway tonight, and I broke down, because everything I want to eat I can't right now, anything and everything (especially about the baby) sets me off!

I am sooo drained all the time but struggle sleeping, feel bloated and struggle wearing trousers but can't notice any bump because I put on a bit of weight recently so will probably be a while until a bump appears :(

I'm normally a sweet/choccies fan, but I'm definitely going for healthy stuff, savoury and fruit is my new thing, that and Weetabix for some reason.

stargirl YAY! congrats, I am so happy everythings ok! :)

Mesje that all sounds confusing, hope the rest of your appointments are easier for you.

Never heard of a Doppler until you said NurseRosie, it sounds really cool but when I googled it an information box came up saying it shouldn't be used before 13 weeks and they are not sure how safe it is... I think that has put me off a bit

Still got two days til I even see my Dr to get referred!!!! aaarrrhhhhh!!!

All the newbies welcome!

babyinthacorner · 10/05/2016 20:22

Mejse well done for getting through your booking in in a different language! It's hard enough in your mother tongue!

I feel SO SICK. Ok in the day now, just feel like absolute shite after my evening meal. Another colleague found out today, so that's about 10 of them that know now and I'm getting so worried that something's going to go wrong now. I'm imagining having to tell them bad news. Stupidly looked up my risk of having a down's baby and now can't stop thinking about it.
And these FUCKING MAGPIES... Angry

Sorry for the negative rant, really struggling today.

FluffyPickleMonster · 10/05/2016 20:25

mejse I'm glad you found a maxi dress! They're brilliant aren't they! No one will ever know what's going on under there and you won't have any waistband digging in. I have a feeling my collection of maxi dresses is going to increase significantly this summer! I've spent most of today in hareem pants which are so comfy for pottering around the house. Enjoy your party!

AmsterdamT · 10/05/2016 20:28

No introductions from me - 8+3, no heartbeat and embryo not growing. Good luck to all of you though!

FluffyPickleMonster · 10/05/2016 20:30

babyinacorner don't you worry about those magpies.... It's their breeding season at the moment so the mummy magpies are stuck in the nest with the eggs whilst the daddy magpies go to find their dinner, so I reckon if you see one on its own its the sign of a happy family!

FluffyPickleMonster · 10/05/2016 20:32

Oh Amsterdam, so sorry to hear that. I cross posted with you, wasn't being insensitive. Take care of yourself and take time to process it all. Will be thinking of you Flowers

Bigfam · 10/05/2016 20:37

AmsterdamT, sorry to hear your news. Take care and I wish you all the best for the future Flowers

Bella1985 · 10/05/2016 20:38

amsterdamT sorry to hear your news. Take care of yourself, best wishes. Sad

babyinthacorner I've just realised that the bird tormenting our cat in the front garden is a single magpie! There's loads of superstitions and us humans pick and choose the ones we decide to follow - for instance I own a black cat, which for some is a lucky omen and others unlucky. I'm making her my lucky black cat and I'm going to ignore the magpie omen. If something bad happens, I probably will wonder if the magpie was an omen, but that's human nature, I reckon we just need to keep an eye out for good omens instead!

NurseRosie · 10/05/2016 20:55

So sorry for you AmsterdamT. Look after yourself.
I had no idea that doppler a had a risk element, rethinking it for the next few weeks at least x

NotAClue82 · 10/05/2016 20:58

Thinking of you AmsterdamT, take care of yourself x

Helgathehairy · 10/05/2016 21:06

Thisisbonkers · 10/05/2016 21:16

TinySalmon · 10/05/2016 21:26

Oh amsterdam FlowersFlowers I'm so sorry to hear this

bumbleclat · 10/05/2016 22:05

Flowers Chocolate so very Sorry amsterdam

swancourt · 10/05/2016 22:09

So sorry amsterdam. Take a lot more time off and take care of your self a lot more than you think you will need to, and so much luck for the future x

barkingtreefrog · 10/05/2016 22:51

sunshine glad you've got a scan in the morning, hope it gives you some reassurance.

stargirl great news!

englishgirl yes, I was previously feeling nauseous and coming home to collapse on the sofa after work every night, it was a huge effort to do anything I felt so rough. Now I feel tired (I have insomnia caused by the steroids I'm on so that's not surprising) but I feel only mildly rough in the evenings, and can walk the dog, cook dinner etc, whilst before I had to relay on dh as I couldn't do anything. I'm 9+4 today and terrified that it's all over. I know that apparently the placenta starts taking over about now, and a drop off in symptoms is normal, but still...
I have a feeling my booking in on Thursday is going to be a little rushed. The midwife called and asked me some questions over the phone so she could get a head start on the paper work as there 'wasn't much time in the appointment.'

Amsterdam I'm so sorry Thanks
