Flowers to everyone having difficult times...

A moan from me: First midwife appointment for me today. Felt that it was a bit of a waste of time if I'm honest - firstly I was kept waiting as she saw the lady booked after me first because she didn't realise I was waiting to see her (and I got there 30 mins early to make sure my blood pressure wasn't sky high!). Then, because I'm booked to give birth in another hospital, she as good as told me I didn't need to be there today or see her again until either 16 or 20 weeks (I fully expect I'll be referred to a consultant because I had pre-eclampsia & an emergency section with DS).

Been a waste of space at work because I was so distracted by the pending appointment this morning... Got to do it all over again on Thursday at my hospital booking appointment - been told to expect a pee test & blood test along with lots of forms (I already knew this!).

Oh well, at least my blood pressure is stable, my morning sickness seems to have tailed off and my energy levels are higher after a weekend of rest!

SecretSquirrelsSecretFriend · 03/05/2016 19:31

EDD is 03.12.16. Already had a scan (8 weeks private) and all was well but after having a MMC previously I'm still very nervous.

Morning sickness has disappeared but feeling shattered. DP is driving me mad but then that's quite normal.

babyinthacorner · 03/05/2016 19:33

Southdowns cancel that appt! I had moulds taken when I was last pregnant and I was in a right state - having to my hypnobirthing breathing with tears running down my face... The dentist was having to talk to me constantly to calm me down! It was awful!!!

I had a dream that I was having an affair with a significant ex last night. It was so vivid I woke up like Blush

cnchapmanxx · 03/05/2016 20:04

Evening girls hope everyone is ok! Sorry I've not posted in a while and sorry to the ladies going through tough times Flowers

I've been suffering really bad with anxiety and just being depressed. Purely because I'm worried because all I have is sore boobs and tiredness and I'm expecting to be having nausea and sickness by now and I haven't. I'm 6+4 and just worry haha.. Please someone tell me this is normal and maybe I won't get sickness? Xxxx

SolomanDaisy · 03/05/2016 20:08

southdowns, I had horrendous gagging at the dentist a few weeks ago! I couldn't breathe. Not a good time for having dental work.

I am so tired today, I basically lay on the sofa for two hours this afternoon while DS painted and watched TV (school holidays here). He was very good about it, but I didn't feel any less tired afterwards.

SolomanDaisy · 03/05/2016 20:09

cnchapman I had no nausea or sickness with my last pregnancy, you might just be lucky. You might also still get it, since lots of people don't get it until 7 weeks.

SouthDownsSunshine · 03/05/2016 20:11

I have cancelled the dentists. I've had moulds taken a few times before and it's hard not to gag even when not pregnant. Got a contact lens health check instead, jolly times!

birchygoo · 03/05/2016 20:19

Hi folks can I join. I'm also on the thread pregnancy after infertility. I'm around 8/40 Edd ~4/12. Took me nearly 2 years to conceive. Had 5 rounds of clomid and nothing. Then lap and dye which was normal. 4 weeks after lap and dye I got my bfp. Total disbelief here still. Had some bleeding around 5 weeks (bright red and dark red over 3 days). Had scan could only see sac. Went back at 6 weeks and heartbeat was picked up. Have been panicking past week as symptoms are much improved and some days I feel nothing. Have midwife appt on Fri and will book in the for my 12\40 scan.

Azure83 · 03/05/2016 20:24

cnchapman I'm 8+2 and haven't felt very pregnant for about a week. Apart from sore boobs and protein cravings, everything else stopped, the heartburn, the tiredness... I use a pregnancy app or two and one said that once the placenta develops properly, your symptoms might subside as it takes on more of the work. I don't know if it makes sense medically but I'll take it!

Got my booking appt tomorrow! I know not much will happen but at leat it breaks up the wait.. April has been the longest month.

underrugsswept · 03/05/2016 20:34

7+4 and very few symptoms here too if that helps. My boobs are a little sore and I feel a little queasy sometimes but that's it. Last time I was seriously exhausted until about 12 weeks so this feels very odd. I have the odd really tired spell where I need a nap but mostly I feel normal. I keep forgetting I'm pregnant altogether.

cnchapmanxx · 03/05/2016 21:01

Thanks girls put my mind at ease! Guess I just need to stop worrying and enjoy being pregnant right now haha! Xxx

SpaceDinosaur · 03/05/2016 21:20

If I wasn't so bloody exhausted I wouldn't believe that I was pregnant.

My job is performance based. When I'm doing 3 hours I'm wiped
4 hours is killing me!!! I come home and die for a week

becciandbump · 03/05/2016 21:27

I had my midwife appointment today it was all very non exciting was there an hour and a half but it was entirely paperwork! If you are worried about dental checks maybe just ask the dentist to go easy I know dental health is really important pregnancy on pregnacy, hence the free checks so I'm still going to mine on Thursday x

FluffyPickleMonster · 03/05/2016 22:20

Congrats to the new joiners Smile

I had my first midwife appointment today, also not very exciting! Don't drink alcohol, don't eat smelly cheese and cook your eggs properly. Well I knew that already!
I've chosen Solihull, anyone else this way too???

underrugsswept · 03/05/2016 22:24

I had mine today too Fluffy. Total non event!

FluffyPickleMonster · 03/05/2016 22:30

Appointment took half an hour, lovely midwife but could have been cut down to 10 minutes. Having a home visit appointment next week which is a full health history, can't see why they couldn't do that today?? Frustrates me as a health professional myself!!

rider1975 · 03/05/2016 22:53

Lol SpaceDinosaur I hear you. I have a nap every night after work!
Hello new ladies n congrats Smile
Is anyone else super hot body temp - esp at night? Thought that would have eased off by now

birchygoo · 03/05/2016 23:07

Hi rider - nope I'm totally opposite- I can't get warmed. Only this past week I have managed without a hot water bottle and radiator under my desk at work

leotwist · 04/05/2016 00:31

Yes rider, sweltering at night, esp legs & lady bits. But then, 10 mins after casting duvet off, cold again. Driving hubby nuts flapping damn thing back & forth all night! Have felt unbelievably exhausted all week but also smug about no sickness at almost 7 wks. Then socked today with classic queasiness. Couldn't eat till after 5 pm and, when finally had sandwich, felt really bloated. ☹ Not sire if meds (post-IVF progesterone injections & pessaries -- apologies, tmi) so not sure if due to those or pregnancy. Anyone else on similar meds for 1st trimester?

leotwist · 04/05/2016 00:39

Evidently, typing accuracy & sentence control also gone to hell in a hand basket...

barkingtreefrog · 04/05/2016 04:51

Well, 4am wake up again. It's becoming like clockwork. I refuse to open my eyes for a while and pretend I'm still asleep but then I get thirsty, then I need the toilet, then it's pointless pretending I'm not wide awake...

I thought it was straightforward but I'm finding the food very confusing. I ate a slice of cheesecake at the weekend as I was totally thinking dessert not cheese, then felt guilty. And I ate a ham sandwich then read something about ham being out, but that seems to be an American thing? Eggs might be okay it seems the salmonella scare is over but they haven't released updated guidance yet. I checked that the feta in the fridge was pasteurised, but when we went out for a meal I nicked a couple of bits of feta from dh's starter and only thought later that I didn't know whether it was pasteurised or not.

rider I did wake up really hot this morning, not noticed it generally though. It was awful on the ivf stims though, proper soaking wet hot flushes.

Leo I'm on 400 progesterone x2 a day, 25mg of prednisolone, 0.4ml heparin injections, folic acid as folate and an intralipids drip every 4 weeks (started before downregging, last one this Friday). That's not all due to the ivf though, I've got factor v leiden thrombophilia and immune issues (nk cells and th1:th2 plus the mthfr gene) which may have caused the miscarriages.

fluffy maybe it's just so she can have longer to nosy in your house, check you don't live in some kind of health hazard Wink. My booking in appointment isn't until next Friday, if all is well I'll be 10 weeks by then and I'm worried that she'll struggle to get me booked in for my 12 week scan. I remember previously seeing the midwife at 7 weeks and she was all 'oh, you should have come earlier, it's going to be hard to get you a scan booked'. This is more so because DH got himself all stressed last night and cancelled his holiday with his mate because he realised it was the week I would be 12 weeks and he couldn't leave me. I'm going to feel so guilty if the scan isn't that week! I did tell him I wouldn't know for sure until next week, but he needed to book his flights last night so had to make a decision.

Helbelle75 · 04/05/2016 07:16

Rider and Spacedinosaur I have a nap every day after work! I did manage to go to my ballet class last night though and felt a lot better for it.

Also going between hot and cold at night, waking up thirsty and needing the loo.

Hope you get your scan barking. We got ours through quite early, DH cancelled work trip, the hospital rearranged our scan. A couple of phone calls later and we're back to the original date! I'm sure they'll be able to fit you in.

SouthDownsSunshine · 04/05/2016 07:21

Morning! I actually slept quite well last night for the first time since getting a positive test :)

I'm totally slack about food. I eat my eggs runny if at home as they're lion stamped. I am eating sliced ham and salami - when I can stomach them. Cheese is the one to be careful of as I think it's avoiding listeria which can pass to baby. But I'm sure cheesecake will be pasturied.

As soon as the nausea passes I'll be seeing my dentist.

Bella1985 · 04/05/2016 07:40

Leotwist - I'm exactly the same, incredibly hot at night and the moment I stick my arms and legs out of the duvet I'm freezing. I've swapped to our summer duvet already but am still boiling hot! I've tossed and turned all night and now I'm nackered! Not on any drugs.

will try sleping with just a sheet tonight and forget the duvet altogether to see how that goes! Smile

flyawayblue · 04/05/2016 08:00

Morning all.

Feeling tired arma sick here but interspersed with feeling fine (which is terrifying). Had to see my gp yesterday as had thyroid issues last time and also on meds that I wasn't sure about. Have a blood test booked.

When I'm not feeling sick I'm relaxed about food but veggie so less rules anyway.
