Wow! Thread number three.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Thurlow one of the main studies involves reading the same book to bump for a few weeks. They then get mum/dad to read that book and a different one once baby has arrived and the familiar book will calm the little one down whilst the new book has no effect. They also respond in a similar way to voices they hear regularly in the womb as opposed to new voices. It fascinates me.

amelius I didn't think of baby clothes not fitting due to seasons, I've been so focussed on myself and thinking that it's annoying that all my maternity clothes are winter jumpers/coats that I hadn't thought about implications for baby!

fuzzywuzzy · 18/04/2016 15:40

Is everyone buying cute outfits for baby?

I'm intending on buying a bunch of sleepsuits and vests and that's what baby will live in for as long as I can get away with.

In my experience people gift loads of clothes for new babies so the first year is usually covered! May have to get a cute outfit to take baby to work tho, DP was talking about it today, before i got pregnant DP was ago admit bringing babies into work! Think he's secretly getting excited.

Katiekins90 · 18/04/2016 15:59

I'm another one who's having my scan next Monday, il be 12+5 going by my dates Smile

Ameilius · 18/04/2016 16:07

That's so sweet likea I might have to try it! At the moment the book I read aloud most is 'that's not my train'.. I need to find a better book! Although I have to say we call DS lots of different things (and his name is pronounced differently in English from Norwegian) and he still answers to most things. I think tone has lots to do with it too..

fuzzy embrace maternity leggings - they are SO comfy! I think I put mine on the day I got my bfp.. I'd missed them Blush I'm looking forward to pregnancy in summer - lots of beautiful maxi dresses! I'm imagining that I'll pull off a glamous pregnancy this time (I won't. but it's nice to dream)

I've not brought anything yet, we got so many gifts last time that I'm pretty much set, I think I'll buy a little outfit after the gender scan at 20wks. There are so many gorgeous baby clothes out there! I'd go crazy if I was in the UK all the time, luckily there's not such a huge selection here.

Thurlow · 18/04/2016 16:09

Completely off topic, but DD got the school we wanted, hurrah! It's barely 400m from our house, I know I'm not cut out to be a SAHM but I'm actually quite looking forward to at least being able to do a year of the school runs as she settles in plus banking up all the favours from our neighbours for when I finally do return to work. I can join the School Run Mum Outfit threads Grin

FuzzyOwl · 18/04/2016 16:13

Great news Copper and Amelius, and also for your DD Thurlow.

Next Monday will be a busy scan day. I am so worried but nothing I can do to change the outcome.

likeawestern · 18/04/2016 16:45

Yay for your dd Thurlow Smile

Katiekins90 · 18/04/2016 17:18

Good news Thurlow, I've been checking every hour to find out if my youngest got into our first choice. Really hoping so as if not il be making two school runs!

Katiekins90 · 18/04/2016 17:22

Just checked again for the 100th time after writing the above and he's got offered a place! Very happy

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 18/04/2016 17:25

I've got my scan on Thursday when I might be about 10 weeks (but not totally sure as no af since previous conception in 2014). I'm excited but terrified in equal measure!
As for gender, we might find it this time, but with DD she had her legs crossed anyway so they couldn't tell!
My DD was 1 at the weekend so defo the wrong season in both maternity and baby clothes. Annoying!!

Pyxie · 18/04/2016 17:38

I'm another one with a scan next Monday, what a busy scan day!
I don't think we'll be finding out the sex, I quite like the idea of a surprise, not sure if that resolve will last until the anomaly scan though!

Ameilius · 18/04/2016 17:47

Yay for school places! Must be so stressful not knowing if you're going to get your first choice even when you live so close or have other children there!

Katiekins90 · 18/04/2016 18:01

I found it very stressful especially as we moved out of the catchment area just before applying.

That's one thing off my list to stop stressing about now it's just my scan on Monday. I'm trying to take a leaf out of fuzzyowl's book and think there is nothing I can do about the outcome.

We are going to find out the sex my partner wants to book a 4d scan at 16 weeks to find out. I have two boys already and I'm 99% convinced this one will be a boy too!
Has anyone had any symptoms that could be linked to old wife tales regarding the sex?

smellsofelderberries · 18/04/2016 18:23

Ah Bolly, yay! Are you an expat out there? I've heard Baby Zara is out there now but I've not heard what the pricing is like and figured it would be like most things that are imported over there and be more expensive. TBH I'm not sure we'll be buying much- don't think the baby will be wearing much in an Aussie summer!

I'm so looking forward to buying some maternity clothes (and very excited that I'll be moving in Aug/Sept so will be able to get away with just buying summer clothes). I've been browsing Asos quite a bit but not pulled the trigger on anything yet.

Congrats on hose who have school places for their LO's, that's exciting!

Fingers crossed for everyone having scans next Monday. Mine is 2 weeks on Wednesday and I can't wait. Have my booking appointment on Wednesday when I'll be 10 weeks- do you think the midwife might try the Doppler? Would be great to hear the heartbeat again.

smellsofelderberries · 18/04/2016 18:27

Ah never mind, just read apparently they can't usually hear it until 12 weeks at the earliest. Really want to go for another private scan between now and 12 weeks but best get used to waiting now- no way are we paying for a scan between 12 and 20 weeks!

Thurlow · 18/04/2016 19:11

Congrats Katie!

findingmyfeet12 · 18/04/2016 19:11

Had a scan today as I'd had some spotting. The baby's heart had stopped at 7 + 5.

I have to go back tomorrow for meds or a procedure as the sac is still there.
