Great news copper!

I am hiding in the loo at work, I feel awful. So so tired and someone is eating some sort of breakfast muffin thing at their desk which is making me gag. 11 weeks today, when will this get better?! I decided to use my home Doppler yesterday and couldn't hear anything (too soon really) but it has freaked me out. Silly of me to even attempt it really, but at least the sickness is making me think that maybe things are ok. 10 days until my scan.

Thurlow · 18/04/2016 10:26

Morning everyone! Sorry to those who are still feeling rubbish, but good news on people starting to feel better.

Scan next week, aargh. And primary school admission places today, double aargh! I'm such a bag of nerves waiting to see if DD gets the school we want.

This weekend after standing and watching me in the shower because this child has no personal boundaries at all she turned around and said, "Mummy, is there a baby in your tummy?" I said no (we're waiting till the scan to tell her) and asked her why. "Because your tummy is getting very big..." Blush She's not going to surprised when we tell her, is she?!

My nipples are itching like a mad woman today. I keep having to cross my arms at my desk so I can have a surreptitious rub...

We're definitely going to find out what we're having if we can, we did with DD and personally I preferred knowing - we named DD at 20w, we'll name this one then too (I already have the names chosen, reall! Grin), and I think it will be better for DD to know whether she's having a brother or sister.

BeedlesPineNeedles · 18/04/2016 10:27

fab news copper

Almond and cake hope you both feel better soon

smellsofelderberries · 18/04/2016 10:34

Good luck for your scanCopper!!

Rusk, we will be finding out. DH and I are moving to Australia over the summer some time and baby clothes out there are more expensive/not as good quality from what I've heard, so want to pick up some bits from Baby Zara etc before we go!

almondbutter · 18/04/2016 10:38

I wish I'd had a busy few days copper -- done little or nothing but lie on sofa feeling toss. Yesterday I cancelled a manipedi because it seemed like too much effort to walk ten minutes down the road. Seriously, what? Sorry you're feeling rubbish too, hope you get a good rest in tonight.

Beelzebubble · 18/04/2016 11:10

Yay copper!

I've a scan tomorrow, eek!

needanewjob · 18/04/2016 11:15

Ooh place marking! I'm 12 weeks on Thursday and have my scan next Tuesday. We are debating holding out on saying anything to anyone until after my blood tests are taken - partly because we want to tell our little boy (4) before we tell the rest of the world. I'm 37 and a bit paranoid about the increased chances of there being a problem. However I am also worried about whether I'll be able to hide my bump for another three weeks! So far Im getting away with it but I do look like I've put weight on my tummy and thighs. Normally I'm a bit of a gym bunny but I've been so exhausted that I've literally done nothing for two months!!!

Fedupithink · 18/04/2016 11:18

Ahh Copper that's fab!!

So some of us must be due 12 week scans soonish - who is first?

As for finding out, if we get that far and all is good I really want to know but DH keeps changing his mind. I'm a mad planner so want to be able to focus on names/clothes etc.

Thurlow · 18/04/2016 11:19

Fedup, I think me and Fuzzy are both next Monday?

bobcat85 · 18/04/2016 11:20

Great to hear that copper.

We're definitely finding out the sex, obviously wouldn't mind either but for some reason would like a boy.

Had to leave work as I was feeling so sick this morning. Just fell asleep in the toilet so I've now moved to the bed which is much more comfortable.

almondbutter · 18/04/2016 11:21

fedup my 12 week scan is next Thurs, the 28th (EDD Nov 9th). Seeing dad and stepmum the night before and planning to tell them news then so hoping to go into scan on a bit of a high from that. Also hoping it gives me a bit of a boost.

smellsofelderberries · 18/04/2016 11:24

Sorry Copper just saw all went well, congratulations!!

Cake, hope you start to feel better soon.

almondbutter · 18/04/2016 11:27

copper just seen your scan post -- hooray, great news, so pleased it went so well and baby is thriving. Lovely to hear DH enjoyed it too.

Beelzebubble · 18/04/2016 11:36

Due date buddies needanewjob I'm 12 weeks on Thursday too. I guess tomorrow is my 12 week scan but 2 days early?

coppergrey · 18/04/2016 11:45

Thank you all so much! Star

Hope you can have a nice rest at home, bob - I find just physically being at work way more tiring than working at home.

Ameilius · 18/04/2016 12:01

Hello Bolly!

Glad your scan went well copper, such a relief to see that everything looked good! I didn't realise either how tense I was until she said it all looked ok.

I've just had my scan today. They moved my dates to 11+4 - when's my due date?! I can't work it out! I thought it was the 6th but is it a couple of days earlier now? Anyone know? The scan went ok, she couldn't see much (it was an extra scan just at the local hospital to check the spine, but their machines aren't very good) and so she's referred me to the university hospital. So it looks like I'll be getting lots of scans!

I can't wait to find out the gender! I'm much too curious to wait - I'm in awe of you guys who can! Whatever the gender it'll be wearing boy's clothes as DS is only 11mths and so we've got all the clothes we need (luckily they're mostly quite gender neutral). There are quite a few of us with about 1yr olds, aren't there? Are you guys also slightly irritated that we've timed it so these babies are born in opposite seasons?! This baby will be wearing summer clothes in winter and Christmas clothes in summer!

Beelzebubble · 18/04/2016 12:11

You're due the 3rd amelius :)

BeedlesPineNeedles · 18/04/2016 12:16

Almond I've also got my 12 week scan next Thurs - its going to be a long 10 Days of waiting.

ameilius fab news about the referral for the extra Scans and great that this one was OK too. I'm 11+1 and due on the 6th so I guess you are now due on the 3rd.

I'm not sure about whether I want to find out the sex or not. The only time we've talked about it was pre-conception as we were part of a research study, so if we had been in the test Group rather than the Control Group they could have told us after BFP (from pre-implantation chromosone testing) but we were certain we wouldn't want to know that early in case something Went wrong. Now we're still very much taking it a day at a time and not making plans for fear of something going wrong (more DP than me, I've been looking at baby clothes, prams and car seats on the internet!!)

Ameilius · 18/04/2016 12:33

Thanks Beelze, good to know! Smile

Beedles were you in the control group then? Sounds interesting, what's the study for? It's so hard not to look at baby clothes and prams - I was doing it before I even was pregnant Blush Taking it one day at the time sounds sensible, but at the same time - today you are pregnant, today you can be excited!

BeedlesPineNeedles · 18/04/2016 12:57

ameilius yes we were in the Control Group. It was a study to see if checking the chromosones on the ivf embryos Before they did embryo transfer would improve the live birth rate for women that had had between 2 or 3 previous failed ivf cycles. Embryos would have tested at day 5/6 and any that were found to have the wrong number would not have been put back. There was no disadvantage to us being in the Control Group compared with a standard cycle and if we had been in the test Group we would have had no need for a NT scan and we would have been 99.9% certain the baby had the right number of chromosones. It was a completely blind study so even our dr didn't know which Group we were in until the BFN after the 1st embryo transfer. And yes today we are pregnant Smile

fuzzywuzzy · 18/04/2016 13:02

Amelius Beedles, I've been looking at baby clothes and prams and breastpumps, feeding chairs and baby cribs, I have a list of the exact things I will get (god willing this pregnancy is successful).

For now I'm happy just bookmarking all the stuff I want to buy and will most likely make the major purchases end of September I think.

Only thins I'm buying now is going to be maternity clothes, I hate feeling uncomfortable at work. Apparently quite a few people have asked if I'm pregnant. I'm going to look wide eyed and shocked and go do I look FAT do I really !!!!

likeawestern · 18/04/2016 13:19

Hi Bollyroo, we're dd buddies too!!

So pleased you had a good scan Copper.

We're going to find out gender. I studied developmental psychology and like the thought of baby learning to recognise their name in the womb.

I have a scan date - 10th of May. I'll be 13 +4 but at least dh can make it.

Beedles the study sounds really interesting.

Bollyroo · 18/04/2016 13:20

Elderberries, we're in Aus and you're right, clothes are more expensive and worse quality than UK. But Zara (incl Zara baby) has literally just opened here in the last few months so all is not lost. Really good luck with the move. Feel free to message me if you need anything - is there a PM thing on here?

We're going to find out the gender but they do a cool thing here where they put the gender in an envelope and you can find out when you want to rather than in the ultrasound clinic. So I think we're going to be a bit romantic and open it at our favourite lookout point. Is that too sad?! Haha!

Thurlow · 18/04/2016 13:51

likea, do they learn it from the womb? That's fascinating. Though I can't remember whether I ever referred to DD/bump as her name, rather than using the name when we were talking about her in the 3rd person.

Woody096 · 18/04/2016 14:14

I have my scan next Monday too Fuzzy and Thurlow!

I am exactly 11 weeks today! Today is actually the first day I haven't alternated between starving and nauseous. Hopefully this is turning point people keep telling me about! We are not finding out the sex, my DH wants to, but we have agreed not to and find out with the second! xx
