New thread!

FuzzyOwl · 17/04/2016 21:07

Oh pickled sounds so like me and I was 11 weeks yesterday so very similar in times as well. Hopefully we can help each other.

I use a doppler but I struggled last pregnancy when DD was term, so not convinced my sanity can take me trying this early on. Either my doppler is not very good quality, the anterior placenta and her position made things difficult, or most likely I just can't use the thing.

smellsofelderberries · 17/04/2016 21:09

That's fab news bobcat Grin

After saying my symptoms were nothing much I've spent most of today trying not to throw up. We got the bus back to London from Oxford and missed our connecting train home by literally 30 seconds and there was a 30 minute wait for another one. I just started sobbing in the middle of Victoria station Blush proper heaving sobs. So embarrassing! I couldn't control it.

bobcat85 · 17/04/2016 21:19

I'm not sure on the doppler; medically they prefer they're not used. This is mainly because even if you hear the heartbeat there could be further issues and causes false reassurance. Plus you never know who's heartbeat you're hearing, yours or the baby.

I think it would cause me too much anxiety, especially if I couldn't find the heartbeat. I can see why people would use them though.

Fedupithink · 17/04/2016 21:25

Congrats Bob that's fab news and good luck for tomorrow Copper.

I'm 10 wells today and have felt OK for the past couple of days with the odd spell of nausea/loss of appetite but I'm trying to convince myself this is because I've had a few easy days so feeling well rested.

fuzzywuzzy · 17/04/2016 21:56

Bob so good to hear your scan set your mind at ease :)

Fedup I think at ten weeks onwards symptoms are supposed to ease as the placenta takes over in taking care of baby and eases up on mother.

I'm not feeling anything except sleepy, ocassional cramps on my right side since sneezing whilst lying in an awkward position yesterday. Also crazy hunger pangs, breast pain comes and goes and varies in intensity. Oh and I'm definitely bursting out of my clothes.

I couldn't get a Doppler, I know for a fact I'd drive myself mad with worry over it. But I can see why people buy them.

So looking forward to actually beginning to feel baby move. I don't want to wish my pregnancy away, it's taken such a long time getting here I'm trying to enjoy it. But the worry, I'm sure I was utterly blasé when expecting my older DC.

Slumberparty · 18/04/2016 01:35

Hi everyone, just marking my place Smile
I'm feeling almost normal today so think I'm going to brave the gym for the first time in weeks. Since I've recently moved abroad and my DP works away a lot, I've been feeling a bit low being stuck indoors feeling sick all the time. I'm sure the lack of exercise is contributing to those feelings.
Also, I had some really weird dreams last night!!

Bollyroo · 18/04/2016 04:46

Newbie in the room! Hi everyone. I've finally summoned up the courage to join the party.

I'm 10 weeks and due 11th Nov. It's my fifth pregnancy and hoping that this little one is THE one. Being quietly positive with everyday that passes. We had a strong heartbeat (153bpm) at 7weeks (big relief) and got my next scan in a couple of weeks. Also quite tempted to get a Doppler...
We've decided against the harmony testing etc because I wouldn't do anything if it were abnormal and I don't think spending the rest of the pregnancy worrying about risk levels is the right thing for me. I just need to relax as much as possible.
Symptoms haven't been so bad except my ears are continually blocked which is just annoying! Anyone else had this?! I can't get enough of fruit at the moment. I'm like the Cookie Monster but with bananas and grapefruit!

Thanks to whoever suggested the who's your daddy app. DP loves it and I love the way he's actually following the suggestions like making me dinner! Brilliant! Has anyone found any other good apps?

Also I think someone said they had a bad MIL experience when they broke the news. My MIL's response was horrific the first time so I'm just not telling her until I absolutely have to ie ooh look here's your grandchild! Not very grown up but with my history, I need positive people who can be there in the good and the not so good times.

So that's me. So good to hear everyone's stories. Go team November! Grin

BeedlesPineNeedles · 18/04/2016 06:32

Great news bobcat

welcome bollyroo are you suffering pregnancy insomnia or are you not in the uk?

Was it amelius and someone else with Scans today? Good luck

I Think I'd just worry myself with a doppler - though I'll no doubt be ringing the midwife begging her to check in a few weeks time!

Bollyroo · 18/04/2016 06:54

Overseas and I've not really found any other decent pregnancy forums :( but mumsnet is great! Just tricky finding info about all the different options over here.

Hope you got some sleep and this isn't your usual getting up time

findingmyfeet12 · 18/04/2016 07:22

Place marking

Spottyladybird · 18/04/2016 07:24

Welcome bollyroo we're due date buddies.

Thanks for all the support, she's past the napping stage and had another bad night last night. DH is going to take her swimming today though so a bit of rest then!

BeedlesPineNeedles · 18/04/2016 07:27

Don't worry bolly I'm also overseas so already at work! Hopefully you should get some relevant information from your midwife. I got booklets in both English and the local language, which is good for the stuff that is different to the Uk (though lots seems to be very similar)

Canters15 · 18/04/2016 07:49

Hello lovelies! Hope everyone is well. Haven't been on for ages. Am 9w today and all seems to be going well, sickness starting to ease off which is good!

starky I would really recommend an early scan. Totally put my mind at rest and DH switched into dad mode after seeing it- he said it made it real for him.

coppergrey · 18/04/2016 08:07

Just drinking my pint of water before my scan at 9am. Feeling very sick but not sure if it's pregnancy, nerves, or most likely a combo of the two!

RuskBaby · 18/04/2016 08:21

Good luck copper so exciting all if the scans are started.
When the time comes are many of you finding out the sex? We have decided not to.

Beelzebubble · 18/04/2016 08:37

Best of luck copper!

Welcome bollyroo :)

We're going to find out the gender. They didnt tell you the gender when I had my last child so I'm super excited about finding out

almondbutter · 18/04/2016 08:42

So excited for everyone getting scans. Thinking about mine takes my mind off the being sick.

In terms of finding out the sex, rusk, I think we will. I haven't had an easy time with my mum and have very different feelings about having a girl or a boy (not unhappy, just not at all straightforward, like I have a massive responsibility to get it right with a girl whereas I'd be relaxed about a boy). I'd like a chance to get used to the idea of girl or boy and settle with it, if that makes sense. DH just wants to find out because he's really excited.

ElleSarcasmo · 18/04/2016 08:44

Good luck with the scan Copper!

Rusk we aren't planning to find out.

Canters I've been trying to find somewhere either near home or near work for an early scan, finally found somewhere that will come to your house but for some reason my debit card won't work on their website! So annoying!

FuzzyOwl · 18/04/2016 08:59

Welcome Bolly.

Good luck copper and anyone else having a scan today.

Spottyladybird · 18/04/2016 09:09

We didn't find out last time and didn't think we would this time but DH said at the weekend 'do you want to know this time?' Which has put doubt in my head!

It was magical last time waiting for the moment to be told 'it's a girl!' But we have DD this time who keeps talking about when she has a sister (we haven't told her yet!!). I think it would be good to prepare her if it's a boy but she'll have to cope either way!

OP posts:
almondbutter · 18/04/2016 09:43

So, am 10+5 and had been hoping that meant I was about to turn the corner, but the last two days are the sickest I have been all the way along. I have started taking B6 but that, if anything, seems to have made things worse. Can't even keep down really simple things like toast and tinned tomato soup now. Anyone else feeling worse rather than better?

coppergrey · 18/04/2016 09:45

Hello! Just back from the scan and it was absolutely amazing. Didn't see much with the tummy scanner (sorry, not sure of the technical term!) so she used the internal and we got a really clear picture of the little bean!

Measuring 8+1 so my dates weren't far out. All looking good, really strong heartbeat (which made me and husband cry!) and the limb nubs all present and correct.

I didn't realise quite how tense I was about it. Feel so relieved now!

Good luck to anyone else having a scan today/this week, and lots of love and positive vibes to everyone else Flowers

coppergrey · 18/04/2016 09:46

Sorry almond, cross posts! I definitely feel worse today than I have in recent weeks - I think maybe because I had a busy weekend and am not as rested as I have been. Have you had a busy few days; maybe that could be it?

Also on finding out the sex - I think we're going to. I'm not too precious about it either way but husband is really keen to know.

fuzzywuzzy · 18/04/2016 09:54

Oh Copper that is so lovely to hear.

Think we will find out what we are having, DP really wants a boy & I think it would be best to find out early on so we can be ready.
