Wow! Thread number three.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Whoohoo I'm alive! Feel like I've come out of the terrible gastro storm as I managed to sleep though the whole night (yes I'm bragging). Somehow have lost 3.5kg (7lbs?) which is a bit scary but assume it's all water loss.

I second the probiotics. DH only got some for me yesterday and the tablets were expensive but everything I've read sounds good and apparently the pharmacist was convincing. Also I'm living off electrolyte icey pops. I might even be able to keep some water down - don't want to get ahead of myself.

Hope everyone gets a good night sleep.

onthemetro · 03/05/2016 05:45

Woke up in the night with extreme pain in the bottom my stomach, I've never felt pain so bad and I was terrified...until I realised it was gas Blush Poor DP!

Beelzebubble · 03/05/2016 08:54

SLEPT FOR 5 HOURS IN A ROW!!!! FIVE!!!!!

Omg I feel amazing! Well, in between the bouts of nausea.

Thoughts on hair dye, ladies? Go ahead or a big no no. I'm very confused with all the info I've read :/

Fedupithink · 03/05/2016 09:27

Congrats on your sleep Beezle!

I'm feeling much better today, hoping yesterday was a final blip before the glow (optimistic?!)

As for hair dye, everything I've seen contradicts everything else. For me personally, I'd avoid the first trimester totally then only have it done after that if I was regularly having it done beforehand and with a new patch-test every time as you can develop new allergies/reactions one day to the next in pregnancy.

I'm naturally blonde and usually just have highlights once a year in summer to brighten up but I don't think I will this year. Unless maybe they just do the ends ombré style. Not sure.

I'm going on holiday 3 weeks tomorrow and as I'm so pale I'd usually have a spray tan and eyelash extensions - called the salon and both are not allowed! Shock

almondbutter · 03/05/2016 09:50

So, glamorous post incoming: I have a cough and a cold as well as all the usual preggo fun and games. The last few days I have been coughing up phlegm, which is sometimes bloody.
My nose is also bleeding, so wondering if that's part of it, or if I might have hurt my throat from all the coughing and puking -- any thoughts?
I had a tropical disease a few years back and started vomiting blood because I'd hurt my throat from the constant sickness, so not too freaked out by coughing up blood now, but curious all the same. Thanks ladies and sorry for the ick post.

FuzzyOwl · 03/05/2016 10:23

Ouch onthe but glad it wasn't anything more serious.

Yay Bolly. Good to hear it. Scary weight loss but it won't hurt the baby and water loss tends to go back on quickly for me.

Great news in the sleeping Beezle. I dyed my hair all last pregnancy (although it was tiny, so not sure if a difference) and my hairdresser who wanted my money said it was absolutely fine. Certainly there were always several pregnant women getting their hair done at the same time as me. I am sadly naturally fairly grey now but brunette otherwise so tempted to do a lower maintenance brown colour this pregnancy. I haven't dyed it yet since I conceived though.

Are you still in your first trimester Fedup because I think some salons just have a blanket ban on dealing with pregnant women for the first three months. Astounded that eyelashes can do any harm!

almond I have a constantly bunged up nose and it is always bloody but not coughing up anything to compare yet. I know nosebleeds are often common and I would think what you have is because you are pregnant but, as I always say, it is best to check with your midwife to make sure.

Hope all of today's scans go well.

almondbutter · 03/05/2016 10:39

Thanks, FuzzyO. Guess our posts are only going to get more glam from here on in, right...

tiredmumrighthere · 03/05/2016 10:40

good luck to all you with scans today Smile

I feel horrendous today Sad feel so sick it's getting me down now.
On Thursday night I went to bed feeling awful after catching this horrible cold and cough of my youngest and my partner, I still have it now and my daughters had it for over a week it's so draining. So feeling sick constantly on top of that is making me feel very tearful today Sad

Yesterday we went for a walk because our whole weekends been ruined by this awful cold (eldest child now has it too) but I spent the whole time trying to hold back throwing up because we was at a very busy park.
I'm even having to pluck up the courage to brush my teeth because it causes me to gag and be sick, the whole time m brushing I'm being sick..I'm just so fed up its unreal!

On top of All this, sleeping in the same bed as my partner is ending up with horrible arguments in the middle of the night because of he's snoring Angry 2 hrs he kept me awake I was fuming!!

Sorry for the rant I'm tired, grumpy, and emotional Confused x

Fedupithink · 03/05/2016 10:47

Yes Fuzzyo but I'll hopefully be 15 weeks by then which they knew.

They said the tan was due to inhalation but cream/foam stuff would be ok - I've never been very good at it though so will probably give that a miss.

But the eyelashes is due to the adhesive they use - aparantly it's not a problem by itself but if you should have a reaction, the medication they need to give you in hospital isn't safe in pregnancy. I asked about patch testing and they said no, they aren't insured to do it to pregnant women because the manufacturers clearly tell them not to.

I'm so pleased to be pregnant but I was so looking forward to that bit of pampering before holiday, it always makes me feel really good.

I've booked a mani and a pedi and a long (pregnancy safe) back massage instead.

coppergrey · 03/05/2016 10:47

Hello from the USA! It's 5.44am and I've been awake for hours. Pleased with myself so far though - tiredness has definitely abated a bit and although nausea is worse, it seems to come in waves rather than just being there all the time. So feeling relatively good... I'll try not to jinx it on day one, though!

Hope you're all ok - good luck to those with scans this week and lots of love to anyone feeling poorly.

Stretch marks - I bought the Weleda oil from Amazon (apparently it's what Victoria Beckham used!!) but haven't started with it yet.

Beezle, I usually have platinum blonde hair (achieved via bleaching at the salon!) and it's currently half grown out and looking terrible. I'm booked in later in May but not going for bleach this time - will just get a tint and have a patch test beforehand. I decided to wait till after the first trimester but I don't think there's any concrete advice either way.1

Fedupithink · 03/05/2016 10:52

Oh Tiredmum that sounds awful. Flowers for you.

When my nausea was at its worst, brushing my teeth made me sick too - it's not great but if Ididn't have to go anywhere, I'd just use chewing gum and mouthwash to get through for a few hours until it lifted enough to brush. Grim I know - sorry folks!

My DH snores too and if I wake for the toilet (most nights) I can't get back to sleep so retreat to the sofa. Not ideal but could you try that?

tiredmumrighthere · 03/05/2016 11:20

Fedup- the chewing gum idea is great! I may have to do that for a while because I just can't face a tooth brush right now Confused
Im even have to cut my food up really small and eat like that because if I put a mouthful in I'm gagging!

I've done the sofa sleeping a few times this week but really fancied my bed last night as I'd just put clean bedding on Smile it was all destroyed after waking up to his snoring! Honestly I go crazy too because I love my sleep and usually go through the night no problems, but since he's had this cold he's been snoring like a pig and I can't cope!!

Life today is extremely difficult, I already want my bed and it's not even midday Confusedx

CakeAndChocolate · 03/05/2016 12:35

Beezle I dyed my hair during my last pregnancy (I am going very grey). I used to have an all over brown die applied bit instead went for brown lowlights as then the dye isn't applied to your scalp and wouldn't be absorbed into your blood stream (it's actually really unlikely this would be the case in any event but I had a really high risk pregnancy and was very very anxious).

Since then I have gone blonde but have decided not to bleach whilst pregnant, so back to brown lowlights again.

Avoided getting it done during the first trimester last time. Just looked haggard with and grey instead!

Bollyroo · 03/05/2016 13:13

Tired, I reckon you've got two options. 1. You take the bed, he takes the sofa (at least he'll only have a cold for say a week. You've got months to put up with). 2. A pillow over his snoring face. (Although the long term consequences may not be desirable). DH has been in the spare room since giving me gastro. I'm quite happy to leave him there! Loving the space!

Fuzzy, you really made me think differently yesterday about how the gastro probably wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't still preggo. I'd been getting quite concerned and you just put my mind to rest a bit so thank you.

So if anyone gets gastro (which should be banned for pregnant women) I can highly recommend electrolyte ice lollies from the chemist. They are amazing.

mrsdane · 03/05/2016 14:28

Beezle, hooray for sleeping! I had my highlights done at 6 weeks having read various things stating that highlights were OK as they don't go directly onto the scalp. I need to book in for my next appointment (roots + lack of sleep = not a good look). I think it's dye touching the scalp that is the main concern.

Having a day off from travelling into work today; up at 4.15 throwing up this morning. Felt dreadful after finally eating a decent meal of steak and chips like a normal person at 6pm last night. Thought I'd sleep through (silly me) but my body clearly had other ideas. Onwards and upwards!

Beelzebubble · 03/05/2016 14:54

Thanks everyone!

It's awful so many of you are still so sick :( I boot DH out to the spare room regularly. He's too warm. I reckon I'll give birth to a hot water bottle.

smellsofelderberries · 03/05/2016 16:22

I'm so sorry so many of you are still feeing rubbish! Hopefully this is the last of it and it will ease off soon.

My boobs felt like they'd shrunk a bit this morning and I'm not feeling sick (occasionally queasy but not sick) so freaked out a little bit! This time in 48 hours we'll have seen our little guy again and I can hopefully start to feel a little calmer.

Does anyone else hate this whole '12 week' magic point? The risks for me having a successful pregnancy having had a healthy 10 week scan are the same as at 12 weeks, but it's been so drilled into my head that 12 weeks is the 'safe point'. It's so hard to wrap my head around for some reason.

Currently sitting on the sofa teaching myself how to embroider (much easier than I thought it would be!) so I can do a few wall hangings for the nursery Grin

Thurlow · 03/05/2016 16:25

I'm sorry, I haven't had time to catch up with the past few days post but I just needed to share, I've definitely just felt the baby moving Smile Smile I've just had some coffee and now there is a teeny little prodding/tickling in the same spot, just under my belly button and to the right. Little one is definitely getting a caffeine hit right now!

Sorry, I'd forgotten how lovely it was to start feeling the baby moving Blush Smile

almondbutter · 03/05/2016 16:28

Really pleased: today I worked like a normal person with a functioning brain all morning and then went for long work lunch and managed to talk about financial crime without wanting to run to the loo/only eat a ham sandwich.

Exhausted now and a bit wobbly on the Tube, but YES -- I feel like I had my old brain back for a few hours there.

Love to all feel tired and sick.

almondbutter · 03/05/2016 16:29

Thurlow so excited for you. Can't wait for some wriggling here -- I poke my tummy because app said it can feel that, but no return serve as yet.

fuzzywuzzy · 03/05/2016 16:34

Thurlow how far along are you? I can't wait to feel those first flutters.

I think I'm behind everyone I'm 10+2 today.

I'm just at the fat stage.

Thurlow · 03/05/2016 16:40

I'm 14.4. I can see why they say you feel it earlier in your 2nd or more pregnancies as it really is so close to gas bubbles, it's just that you're more familiar with the movements having had them before.

Fedupithink · 03/05/2016 17:13

Thurlow that's amazing! I can't wait for that.

Congrats Almond on a good day at work, I went in really late and left early - win!

bobcat85 · 03/05/2016 17:57

Hope everyone feeling rubbish feels better soon.

I'm with you on the 12 week thing smells, it definitely adds an unnessary stress. I had a successful scan at 9+5 but I'm so nervous for my scan tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing about your scan in a couple of days.

That's lovely Thurlow, must be really exciting.

I've had a headache for the last two days which has made me feel even more sick. I'm think it's partially pregnancy related and partially nerves about tomorrow morning.

tiredmumrighthere · 03/05/2016 19:06

Bolly- I love the sound of option 2!

I've sorted him out a duvet today so he's got no excuse to take the sofa tonight, I can't have a repeat of last night Sad I'll kill him !!

I cannot wait for 8 o'clock to get here so I can go to bed and start again tomorrow Confused oh the joys...
